I'm having and odd issue with performance in recent/modern games, as in I think my computer is under-performing for its specs. My computer is about 4 years old with an I5 4690 and a gigabyte GTX 970. I'm barely reaching 60 fps on 1080p on low settings in Call of duty: Black ops 4, same for Apex legends and the same goes for Monster Hunter: World. I also can't seem to run Subnautica on anything higher than low-medium without getting drops. I've watched videos on GTX970 performance in cod and i've noticed people running the game on pretty much high settings with framerates above 60fps and Monster Hunter World performance was better for them too. Now I'm wondering if my cpu is out of date since its pretty old but would that really cause me such performance hits? Or is it normal that i can't hit the medium settings mark on 1080p on a GTX 970 anymore? Any answers are appreciated.

Hey all, I am currently running an i5 4690k on a z97 with a maxwell titan x. The story is my dog managed to rip one of the USB cables out and shorted my motherboard now its intermittent when it works about 50% of the time none of the usb slots work. I had a look at z97s online and they are selling for almost doubble what they were new (UK). Even at this the i5 is running at 100% in most of my vr games so due an upgrade anyway. My question is would it be a good upgrade to get the ryzen 3 3600 from the i5 4690k along with 16gb of ddr4. This is going to cost me about £370. Will I notice a substantial difference for the cost. I'll also be looking at the rtx or gtx3000 series when that comes out so will need to be a bit future proof too. I dont do any editing really only gaming. Would it even be worth me waiting for Ryzen 4? Thanks

Hi. I am planning a computer for gaming (star citizen!) but also it should be able to do some work (Adobe Suite, basically). So I thought about i5-4690, cause it's good deal even if its got the "old" socket 1550. I got a good deal on a RX 480 (4GB) and I was wondering if it was a good combination, in terms and performance and so on. Any thoughts on this would be welcome. thanks!

Hello forum I'm new here and I need some help for a build. Here are the specs I5 4690 Asrock z87 pro 4 or b85 pro 4 Nvidia geforce gtx 970 7200 rpm hdd, a standard SSD 2x4gb hyperx ram 1600 mhz So my question is for the PSU I'm on a budget so I don't have much to spend. This is the one I'm considering but I'm not sure if it will be enough. http://www.njoy.ro/PSU/ayrus500 It's a Romanian company I don't know if I can trust them but its very cheap so I don't know. Here are some photos.

Basically I'm getting an average of 40 that stutters and drops to 20 fps when I should be getting constant 60. (I practically copy pasted this from a dead Tom's Hardware thread that is now dead and no help) Specs: CPU: i5 4690 GPU: 2x XFX DD R9 290X 8gb Mobo: GA Z97x-SLI Ram: 8gb G. Skill 667mhz Hard drive: 1TB WD PSU: XFX Core Edition PRO850W I know that I should be getting 60fps average. Everything is turned up, except for Nvidia Hariworks. I'm running the 15.12 drivers and my cards are set in Uber mode with a clock speed of 1375. Whenever I run Heaven benchmark I get a score of 2500-600, and get a 60fps on the Shadow of Mordor benchamark at 4K. I also set the EnableTemporalAA=false in the rendering.ini file in the Witcher 3. I get practically the same fps with crossfire disabled. There is also a lot of sudden dips in fps and stutters while playing. GPU Usage during gameplay:

Hi there! I am planning on building a new/first PC and have a approx budget of 1300 euro +/- (exl, tax), I want to do 1440p or 2160 gaming. So far I plan to use a i5 4690 (not K) with a r9 295x2 I dont play the most demanding games/AAA titles but do not want to consider my system when wasting money on steam sales. So the question is does the r9 295x2 tip the balance and should I get a more expensive CPU or is it ok? Thanks in advance!

I'm currently deciding which Motherboard to get for my PC and at the same time am deciding between getting an Intel core i5 4690 or an intel core i5 4460. I'M NOT OVER CLOCKING ANY OF MY EQUIPMENT < please take this into account. The parts that I have chosen so far are as follows: GPU: EVGA Nvidia GTX 970 SSC ACX Cooling 2.0 4 GB Graphics Card. RAM: HyperX FURY Series 8GB (2x 4GB) DDR3 1866MHz CL10 DIMM Memory Module Kit - Blue. SSD: Samsung 2.5-Inch 120 GB 850 EVO Solid State Drive. <<< FOR OS/WINDOWS. STORAGE/HDD: WD 1TB 3.5 inch Internal Hard Drive - Caviar Blue. (Yes 1TB is enough for me ) OS: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (Full Version). PSU: EVGA Supernova 550 W Gs Gold 80+ Modular Power Supply Unit. CASE: Corsair CC-9011058-WW Carbide Series SPEC-03 Windowed Mid Tower ATX Gaming Case with LED Fan - Black/Blue. OPTICAL DRIVE: Samsung 24x Retail SATA DVD Writer. The motherboard would have to support these components, either the Intel core i5 4690/4460 and I would like it to have SLI. As for the CPU either the i5 4690 or the i5 4460, I would prefer the i5 4690 as it has more Ghz, but then again this is my first build, and I'm not to knowledgeable with computers. Remember I'm not overclocking anything. So could you please tell me what I need! (I'm aiming for 1080p-1440p @ 60fps on nearly maxed out settngs with my build)

I am planning to buy a gtx 980 ti, to upgrade from a gtx 770 and was wondering, if my i5 4690 non k version would bottleneck the 980 ti.

I am building a new PC soon, and as I am in Australia I am worried that during summer my CPU temps will be too hot to game and so on. Just want an opinion on if I would need a aftermarket cooler. Specs are i5 4690 (Non K), Corsair 250D case, two corsair fans on the case for cooling, stock cpu cooler. In my room I keep my windows open but during the summer it can still get to 35-40° C

Hey guys, This is my first time building a PC and I wanted to check if there is anything wrong with my build The reason I went with crossfire is because I found 2 Used r9 280x which is cheaper than one r9 290x Specs: case: Corsair Carbide SPEC-01 Fans: 3x Cooler Master SickleFlow Red LED CPU: core i5 4690 CPU cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 GPU: Radeon r9 280x in crossfire Motherboard: MSI Z97-G43 (is it good for crossfire?) PSU: corsair CX850M 850w RAM: corsair vengeance 2x4/1600mhz (8GB) Hard drive: western digital 1TB will there be good airflow with this build? Should I just pay a little extra money and get r9 290x? Anything you guys think I should do?

Like the title says, if I choose to ever buy these will they; Max every single game on 1080p? Will it give 60+ fps on maximum graphical settings on every game? Or what game can it not run or not reach that high fps? I just want to know the limits of them. Both stock and oc if possible. And does the processor have hyper threading? Keep in this in mind: I am talking about 1 1080p monitor! I don't need to max out games I am simply curious about their limits.

***CHANGED TO i5 4690K*** Any recommendation between 90-120$? Thank you!

So, a friend of mine bought this cpu, but doesnt use it and he wants to give it to me. Will it be enough to power my build, because the reccomendations for the graphics card is a 750 watt??? Thanks in advance.

I'm helping my friend choose parts to build a computer. For the CPU, we have chosen the intel core i5 4690, and for the GPU, we have chosen the NVidia gtx 970. He has spoken to some of his other friends (that I dont know), and they told him that the CPU will bottleneck the GPU. I am not convinced. So my question is: will the i5 4690 bottleneck the gtx 970?

Hello people. First post here, excited to join you all! I'm at a bit of a dilemma. Last time I built a PC was 2009. Now that I'm starting to learn all about PC building again, I realized that I never really cared for overclocking. Never even tried. Higher temps and warranty voiding just scared me away. So I wanted to do a mATX build with a white Bitfenix Prodigy M. I know, I know, it's a notoriously difficult case to work with, with badly designed airflow, but I'd be able to overlook that for its sweet, sweet looks. (aesthetics is just as important, right?) Besides, it's not like I'm likely to be doing SLI or overclocking even. Unless you think I should try. If so, tell me why. I might change my mind. 770 was my first choice, but the 2GB memory just doesn't seem adequate in the long run. So 780 seems like a better choice. But then 970 and 980 came around! But I'll be locked with a 60fps max 60Hz 1080p 23" IPS monitor anyways. So would that be a tremendous waste of money? And so my point is, would I regret getting the H97M? (possibly by Gigabyte or Asus) With a locked processor? I could go with 4690k and a Z97M, with a nice OC and SLI option, but the Prodigy M would get so cramped, and I won't be able to afford the GTX 780 or even the new 980 when it comes to my local shops! D: Anyways, I'm confused, I look forward to any help, thanks!

I'm well aware that this build should probably be closer to $1500 in total, but boy, this is the lowest I can possibly get where I live. I'll never know the joy of super cheap retail prices. Anyways, after weeks of researching, this is the best I could come up with. A gold-themed (mostly) mATX build. I won't be overclocking nor will I be doing any SLI, hence the locked processor and H97 mobo. There are three things I am still not sure of: - PSU: I figured a 550W PSU would be enough, but is it? The only things I'll add in the future is a couple more SSDs and probably some LED strips, more fans, or even a fan controller but that's it. Future Graphics card would most likely have lower and lower power consumption anyways, right? - CPU Cooler: CM 212 Evo, or any good air cooler would probably be sufficient, but would I benefit from closed loop watercoolers like Corsair's Hydro lineup for example? - SSD: I know Samsung's EVO is the popular choice around here, but until they get that performance issue fixed, I won't consider it for now. (I ill be working and getting my money during summer) iv been planning it for awhile. watched some of linus' good videos and how-to. this is the rig I have set up (without the monitors/mouse/keyboard I alredy own.) http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/LnnGnQ add to that an alredy working NAS with 1tb for storage (about 250-300 for backups) consider the canadian pricing please. and tell me what you think: good value? could I get something better for the price keeping in mind this is a gaming pc? thanks a lot
