  1. So I recently picked up a used i7 4770k as a cheap upgrade from an i5 I had (didn't feel like swapping mobos and plan on making a full new system soonish). I picked up a Hyper 212 Evo cooler because it's cheap and I've got past experience with them. Ran Heaven, Furmark, and RDR2 as benchmarks after upgrading and didn't really see much of an improvement. Ran prime 95 for a few minutes and noticed the CPU cores were basically all hitting 100°C. Is this the likely cause for no real increase in benchmark performance? I assume the CPU is throttling down due to the high temps to prevent damage, but I'm pretty much a PC building novice so I figured you guys would know for sure. Is the issue here that the cooler isn't good enough? My room is normally around 72-74ish°F so I assume that isn't the problem. I didn't forget the thermal paste before someone asks, and my case has like 6 fans in it (I also added the extra fan to the Hyper 212). Is it possible I overtightened the CPU cooler? I have no clue if that can cause issues like this or not, but I felt like I might have tightened it too much when I was installing. The final other thing I considered is maybe I need to delid and replace the thermal paste since it's pretty old at this point. Just looking for some general guidance from someone with more knowledge here. CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5 GHz Quad-Core Processor ($219.99 @ Amazon) Motherboard: ASRock Z97 Extreme3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard Memory: Patriot Signature 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR3-1600 CL11 Memory ($36.99 @ Amazon) Memory: Patriot Viper 3 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR3-1600 CL9 Memory ($37.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Crucial M4 128 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500 GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($37.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($80.99 @ Newegg) Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 390 8 GB Video Card Case: Zalman Z9 Plus ATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA G2 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
  2. Hello everyone, this is my first post and I will try to present my problem as good as I can. My Specs: Intel i7 7700k @4,6/4,8 Ghz // 1,25/1,3V NZXT Kraken X72 Push/Pull 32Gb G.Skill RipJaws V @ 3200Mhz // 1,353V MSI Geforce Gtx 1060 Gaming X 6Gb Asus ROG Strix Z270E Gaming 500Gb SanDisk Extreme Pro 500Gb Samsung 850 Evo 256Gb Samsung 850 Evo 4Tb Seagate Barracuda 650 Watt be quiet! Dark Power Pro 11 Creative Soundblaster Z Corsair Crystal 570X Fans: 1x Corsair LL120 @ the back of the case 2x Corsair LL120 @ the top of the case 3x Corsair LL120 @ the front of the case, pushing air into the radiator 3x NZXT Aer P120 behind the radiator, pulling air out of the radiator The air is getting pulled from the front, through the radiator and the top and is getting exhausted out of the back. So my main problem is about thermals and how they interact with my fan speed. I can only run aida64 or prime95 @4,2Ghz all the time without a boost clock if I want the temps to stay lower than 80°C or if I want prime95 to work at all. I wanted to overclock my i7 to at least 4,8Ghz, but I'm getting temps of 100°C max on all cores after running aida64 for a few minutes. I can't even use prime95 because it always gives out that a Fatal Error has occured where a 0,4 was expected, but a 0,5 or someting came out. I just don't understand why. I tried paying around with the CPU voltage settings, but it didn't change anything. After I saw this high temps I decided to reduce the clockspeed to 4,6 Ghz at 1,25 Volts but the temps were still above 90°C max at all cores. A small improvent, but not enough. There's actually a pretty big difference between the temps shown by NZXT CAM and HWMonitor. I use both at the same time and the difference is more than 10°C sometimes. Could it be some sort of sensor problem? Now the strangest thing: It almost doesnt't matter at all at which fan speeds I run my system. When I stress tested my CPU with Aida64 at around 40% fan speed and at 100% fan speed, the results were more or less the same. I also ran a Cinebench R20 Benchmark and got a Singecore score of 489 and a Multicore score of 2419 with about 40% fan speed. But when I ran the same test with 100% fan speed both scores were a little bit worse instead of getting better. I don't get it. EDIT: I tried monitoring everything with AiSuite from Asus as well and the highest recorded cpu temps are about 73°C and there are no big spikes recorded as with HWMonitor or Aida64. Now I´m even more confused because the temperature difference between 2 programms is almost 15-20°C. Which is the real temperature now??? I´m just confused.
  3. Dear LTT gurus, I've recently been having stability issues with my desktop computer. Random freezing while browsing, games crashing, blue screens with WATCHDOG and WHEA UNCORRECTABLE errors. It's been happening more and more over the last few months to the point that my system is no longer dependable. I'm running an Intel Core-i7 4790K on an MSI Z97M Gaming mobo with 32GB Corsair Vengeance RAM. Not a powerhouse but it gets the job done. The problems originally started during gaming; so, I recently upgraded my GPU to an MSI RTX 2070 Super Ventus OC, but it hasn't solved the problem. I've tried to run memtest86 to see if I was having RAM instability issues, but for some reason, all I get is a blank screen after starting the test. I let it sit overnight just to make sure it wasn't running in the background but it was still blank the next morning. I downloaded Core Temp to monitor my cores, and normally they stay in the 30s and 40s (Celsius), but when I launch a game the temps skyrocket cores 0 and 1 hit 100c, core 2 hit 95c and core 3 hits 88c. I thought perhaps the cooler wasn't working. I'm using a Corsair H110i which is a 280mm radiator. I figured if the pump wasn't running that could explain the issue, but iCUE says the pump is working fine. Additionally, the temps drop back down to normal almost the instant I close the game. They wouldn't do that if there was a problem with my water pump. I'm hoping the instability is a temp problem or a RAM problem. I can pull a stick of RAM out without, but I have no way to testing them without manually pulling the sticks from the mobo, and that still doesn't explain my high temp problem. Could the temps be the cause? Could just the RAM be the issue? Or are they both causing my problems? What say you LTT gods? Where do I go from here?
  4. I have just upgraded my i3 4160 to ryzen 5 3600 and i tried to monitor the temps while idle and gaming and the temps are a bit high from what i expect. Idle Temps: 60-80 Gaming (Valorant): stuck at 95+ I left everything on bios on auto expect the xmp for 3200mhz ram I think the temps are too high, please help. TIA
  5. Hello. I just built my PC. Everything works fine, EXCEPT... My CPU temps are insanely high! 55-65°C when *IDLE*, and when I ran prime95 stress test temps jumped to insane 95°C in the first couple seconds! I immediately ended the stress test. Why could this be happening?? Also to note, CPU is constantly on 4GHz (didn't overclock it at all). Also voltage is acting funny. It fluctuates very much. Specs: CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 MOBO: MSI B450 Tomahawk Max GPU: Radeon RX 5700 RAM: Gskill Ripjaws V 16GB 3400MHz SSD: Kingston A2000 500GB
  6. so i have a hp omen laptop, it has a gtx 1060 and and i7 8750h and 8 gb ram single channel, the temperatures are like 98 degrees Celsius on the cpu and like 90 on the gpu, so i downloaded intel extreme tuning utility and then ( after working out which is probabaly the best for me) turned the turbo boost power max to 11 and the core voltage offset to -0.150 - it won't go down any lower and now i am getting around 87 degrees Celsius on my cpu and same gpu temps, i want to ask if there is something that could improve thermal performance more but not effecting fps that much. Making the core voltage offset to -0.150 improved the performance with low voltage is that normal.
  7. Specs: Ryzen 7 3700x gtx 980 ti Asus crosshair viii hero am4 motherboard 32GB corsair vengence RGB ram nzxt kracken x63 280mm AIO Fractal design meshify s2 3 corsair icue QL140 rgb fans / 2 Fractal design stock case fans Maybe I've not won the silicon lottery, but my CPU keeps fluctuating in temperature. At idle right now, my clock speed on my CPU is 4.2Ghz. and my temperature keeps fluctuating between 49°C and 69°C. I jut bought all the parts to my computer of on the 27th April (Apart from the graphics card) and build it Sunday the 3rd may, so the build is brand new. Is there any cause for this
  8. So I just built my new pc recently and it was working great, then all of the sudden I just closed out a game and my cpu fan ramped up to 100%. My temps were around 65c while gaming before this so I know my cooler works. I opened openhardware monitor and saw that my cpu was pinned at 100c. Felt the air coming off my aio and it was cool, no heat other than maybe 40c worth, felt normal. So I took another fan and sandwiched my reused alienware aio with a push pull, and updated the bios (maybe it was a faulty temp reading and a bios update would have fixed it idk?). I didnt have the problem after that for maybe 5 days. Then since I have 2 new fans coming (because I was sacrificing both my case fans for the rad and had to jank on a 95mm as a makeshift case fan), I took one of the alienware fans from my alienware r6 and put it alone on the aio and put the case fans back, since it was a higher airflow fan. The same thing happened while I was closing a game, my fan ramped up to 100% and my temps were at 100c. For thermal paste I used corsair TM30 and applied enough. Does anyone have any idea whats going on? Is my cpu just giving faulty temp readings? Any solutions? Edit: This only has happened a total of 4 times in the past 2 weeks with the most recent being today. Like I said i had a stretch of 5 days where I had a push pull and it was fine. After a restart it all goes back to normal. CPU: i5-9600k Mobo: ROG Strix b365-f gaming AiO: Alienware Liquid Cooler
  9. I recently built a new PC, but did not order any extra fans for my case. I only got 1 extra (the 120mm exhaust in the back) since there otherwise was no exhaust fan in the case, only 3 120mm fans in the front. I keep getting temps of up to 84oC when I am gaming. Is this a normal gaming temperature for a ASUS TUF RTX 2060 6GB graphics card, or should I be worried and maybe get extra cooling?
  10. So today i changed the liquid in my custom loop, after it running for a year. While changing the fluid i switched the CPU block from a EKWB-Velocity, to a EKWB Monoblock for the Asus Hero XI. Other than that i changed the GPU from horizontal to vertical, and bend some new hardtubing ofc for the change of CPU block and GPU direction. My GPU has a EKWB Quantum Vektor cooler on it, and its a 2080 TI, and running a i9-9900k as my cpu. However this so called upgrade ended in my cpu temps doubling, and my GPU temps going a lot up aswell, before the change my CPU was 30-50 at all time, and my GPU never above 41, even when under load, now CPU idle is 50, and GPU idle is 45. I removed most of the bubbles that was possible and in general removed as much air in the loop as possible yet i see these high temperatures, and wondering if there was any sugestions as what could cause this? And yes i do belive i applied enough theremalpaste and tightened the monoblock tight to the CPU. I changed my overclocking from 5.1GHZ off, and whent to factory settings, and yet no change in temps. *Specs* Asus Hero XI I9-9900k RTX 2080 TI Strix OC Edition 64GB Corsair 3200hz CPU Cooler - Asus Hero XI monoblock GPU Block - EK-Quantum Vector EK-D5 pump/res combo Using same liquid as before and flushed out the old liquid with destilled water, and again running EK-Blood red premix
  11. Hi, i have noticed that my i9 9900k has gotten high to extreme temps in my small case (bitfenix prodigy m.) I have an NZXT m22 120mm AIO mounted in the rear of the case as exhaust. I have two 120mm exhaustfans in the top, right above my graphics card. (in the prodigy the motherboard is mounted upside down, so the graphics card is above my cpu. ) I would really like to keep the 120mm AIO form factor, because i am thinking of getting the In Win A1 in a couple months, and that one does not support 240mm AIOs. Any opinions and tips are appreciated. Temps: Idle: 41 degrees celsius Mediocre games (LoL, Overwatch): 60-68 Degrees Demanding games (BF5, M&B2 Bannerlord) : 70-85 degrees (sometimes it rises to 95 when under 100% load.) If i take any stresstests the temperature keeps rising and the cooler cant keep up. 12. About a day or two ago both of my monitors shut off and my GPU fans cranked up to max. Despite this, I could still hear and speak to my friends in discord and my spotify was still playing. I reset my pc and continued on, however, this problem keeps happening whenever I play a game. My card now idles at about 50C and runs WOW Classic at 80C. I don't think the card overheating is the origin of the crashes as I've witnessed it crash at around 75C. I installed the latest drivers and nothing happened and I don't think it's a problem with my previous drivers as I had had them for a month. Re-seating my GPU did nothing along with rolling back my drivers. I built this machine a bit over a year ago, here are the specs CPU: I5-8600K, not OCed at the moment Mobo: ASRock Z370 Pro4 RAM: gskill trident z 2x8Gb 3600mhz\ GPU: MSI DUKE 8GB OC PSU: Seasonic 650W gold
  13. I'm running an i7 7700k stock speed with an Enermax AIO. The temps are in the high 70°C to 100°C. Fans are spinning, I can feel one tube getting warm and the other staying cold so I don't think the pump died. I also get the same temperatures with the air coolers I've tested (Boxed and Be Quiet Pure Rock Slim). I've reset the BIOS to default, no OC, no XMP. Thermal paste is applied (Arctic MX-4) Core Voltage is at 1.312V The readings match the temps I've messured with an IR thermometer so that's not the issue. What could be causing the problem?
  14. Hello everyone, i have a problem with my new pc. I have a 9900KS oc'ed to 5.2GHz with a vid of 1.27volts (HWinfo) and stressing it with Asus realbench 2.43 the temps hit about 91°C witch is very high when considering i'm running the Alphacool Eisbar 420mm with the 280mm expansion rad. I have tried reaplying the thermal past witch didn't help, but gave me a chance to look at how it covered the ihs and it was perfect as expexted because manual spread. Thermalpast used was the Thermalgrizzly Kryonaut. I realy appreciate any help. Thanks! 15. A week ago i was playing csgo on medium settings and i noticed that my gpu is reaching 70+ degrees Celsius, and my fps is dropping from 250 to 30, i tried changing the settings to low but nothing happens. PC specs: MSI B450 Tomahawk mobo Ryzen 5 2600 MSI RX 580 Armor 8 gb corsair vengeance 2x8 gb @3000 Mhz ram UPDATE: i'm getting 80+ degrees Celsius in apex legends, low settings
  16. Hi guys, I have Acer Predator Helios 300, bought 2 years back. Recently it has started to show very high temps for both CPU & GPU. CPU reaches at 96C & GPU at 92C while playing rocket league & CSGO, even though i keep the fan speeds at max. I tried to check whether the thermal paste is ok or not but couldn't get 2 of the screws from the heat pipes(their heads wore off) so just cleaned the fans & tried again but the temps still reach 90C tried keeping the laptop tilted so it can take up more air but no difference. Any suggestions?
  17. Hello I wanted to ask for help. I’ve got myself i9 9900KS cpu with hyper 212 led turbo cooler and z390 elite motherboard with 3200 16x2 rams and evo 970 ssd. My CPU temperatures of stock bios settings are above 100c while stress testing. So I changed few settings in bios: Set vcore to 1.235v Changed core speed from (Stock 5.0GHZ) to 4.7ghz Set uncore ration to 4.7ghz to be equal to core speed enabled xmp profile (memory/ram) that’s all I remember doing. Now I am stress testing for 15 minutes and cpu temps are around 95c - zero throttling. Any help?
  18. So, my PC is in the Fractal Design Define Mini C TG.I have the following problem: I can't put my sidepanel back on, because I don't have enough air flowing under the VGA. GPU runs around 76-85℃ when under load, fans spin up, and they get loud with the glass panel on. Without the sidepanel they are barely audible under load. My front panel intake is also restricted, because of dust filtration and noise insulation. I quickly janked image of the situation.I think the problem lies in the fans... (Feel free to correct me) The ones I have now are pretty crappy and loud. They suck, because the don't suck, if you now what I mean.Could you please suggest some 140mm black fans, which would suit this build?Thank you for your suggestions, in advance.
  19. My system:Motherboard: Asus TUF x570 plus with Wi Fi CPU: Ryzen 3700X CPU Cooler: Dark Rock Pro 4GPU: 2070 Super Zotac AMD! Extreme Fans: 2x intake Noctua 140mm redux 1500 RPM PWM fans, 1x exhaust at the back 120mm Fractal Design, 1x exhaust at the top 120mm Fractal Design (the ones that come with the case) I did NOT overclock my GPU or CPU My temps: Ambient temp: 21-22 C CPU idle: ca. 45 C CPU under load: 67-70 C (Furmark CPU Burner) GPU under load: 80 C (Furmark) While gaming the temps are a few degrees lower than under full load I believe my temps are a bit too high considering what case / fans and CPU cooler I have. I believe I messed up when applying the thermal paste and I didn't adjust any fan speeds. I would like somebody advise me how to optimize my airflow to reduce the temps. 1. I bought Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut today and I will apply it on the weekend. Should I use the spread method advised by team grizzly or some other? 2. One of the exhaust fans is connected to AIO port on the motherboard, is this a problem or should I connect both exhaust fans to one connector and connect both fans to one PWM port on the mobo? 3. Probably the most important question: How should I adjust the fan speeds in BIOS? Is there an ideal fan curve I should be aiming for? SpeedFan doesn't show case fans, only GPU and CPU so I guess I have to use BIOS 4. Should I change any settings for the CPU or GPU? Thanks!
  20. Hi hero’s of the LTT forum! I just finished build my first PC in a long time. however, when I opened the UEFI I noticed CPU temperatures between 48-52C. this seems a bit high to me since I am using a pretty good AIO. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? I am too scared to install Windows with these temps. these are most the components I am using: Ryzen 9 3900X NZXT Kraken x62 Asrock X570 Taichi (with idle SB temps: 67) MSI 2070 Super gaming x trio corsair crystal 570x case If there’s someone who can help me that would mean a lot to me! Thanks!:)
  21. I recently bought a "Lenovo Legion C730" gaming cube that consists of an RTX 2070 gpu and i7 9700k cpu. And I was wondering if having 86c temps on 95-100 gpu work load is safe in a gaming cube such as the c730? I've read people saying that 85-86c is normal but not ideal for such a gpu. I want some suggestions if I should return this product and just build a pc from scratch or of someone can verify that this is safe? I've read reviews saying that the c730 is actually a good product, but also noticed that most of these reviews are for the mid-range gpus such as the GTX 1060 or lower. I also noticed that their seems to be a slight burn smell(or maybe just my imagination)but not sure if this is just normal or something to worry about in a new product? Suggestions would be appreciated!
  22. Hi, I hope someone can help me with this issue. Today I finally got my GTX 1070ti sent in the mail, and I installed it into my computer. I recently built this computer, and I was only waiting on my graphics card to come in. In the mean time, I was using someone's GTX 1060. During my use of my computer with the GTX 1060 I typically never saw temps on my CPU going above 65 Celsius. Since I installed my new graphics card the temps on my CPU have been idling at around 50 Celsius while my graphics card stays very cool at around 60 Celsius under load. I played a competitive game on CS:GO and my temps were around the high 60s and would peek at 75 Celsius. This was while only having the computer on for about 20 minutes and it was a very short game. It also feels as though while playing that my CPU is thermal throttling. This does not seem normal to me, and I was wondering if anyone had a possible solution or suggestion. Thanks!
  23. I have an ASUS GL502VM with an i7-6700hq and a gtx 1060. But now whenever i put the cpu under load, it reaches immediately up to 100 degrees Celcius. I've got the cooler cleaned up, changed the thermal paste, ensured the cooler makes proper contact with the cpu and still no affect. The gpu still stays at mid 80 degrees under prolonged load so not much issue there. The attached photo shoes thermal behavior of the cpu. Please HELP!!!
  24. My graphics card (rx580) runs very hot, and I just found out that all of the exhaust from the fans blows directly into the side panel which increases the temp really fast. I don’t want to keep the panel off but it drops my temps by 20C instantly when I remove it.
  25. Hi! First of all: this is my first topic in this forum, so tell me if I did anything wrong and should change something. So I got this Problem: I think my temps are too high for a 360 Radiator. I'll show you my specs here: Processor: Ryzen 5 2600x @4,2 Ghz Motherboard: MSI X470 GAMING PRO RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3000 DIMM CL15 Dual Kit Graphics-Card: 8GB Asus Radeon RX Vega 64 ROG Strix PSU: 750 Watt be quiet! Straight Power 11 Cooling: 3 x BeQuiet Silent Wings 3 360 AIO Radiator BeQuiet SILENT LOOP 360MM All of this Hardware is not older than one year. Now to the problem-description: I ran CPU-Z, MSI Kombustor and AIDA64 Stability test (only Stress CPU & Stress FPU checked). My CPU temp came to an average temp of 78,4°C after a 20 minuites long run. As I saw a post here on the forum with the Ryzen 5 2600x at an comparable clock with max temps of 54°C. It was not mentioned what cooler he used but for me in personal I think a 360 Radiator should perform a lot better than 78,4°C in comparison to this dudes hours-long stress test with a maximum of 54°C! Can you guys tell me if I am wrong or if I should ask BeQuiet to check the AIO? (It already was there for reparation as the pump made noises and they said it would be caused by too little water in it.) I know this guy might has an custom water cooling system that performs a lot better than my AIO but I thought that I could get close to custom watercooling with such a great brand. I hope for your help and advice. Thanks in advance! Kind Regards Sailing ps: I attached a screenshot of AIDA64 after 30 mins stresstesting and I want to apologize for my bad english it is late in the night at my place ^^
