I need some serious help and guidance here. What I fundamentally want to do, is add an in-desk USB Hub (like a grommet) to expand my USB capabilities on my Desktop. I have a finite of USB ports (2x 2.0 - these are for Keyboard and Mouse), 2x 3.2 Gen 1 and 2x 3.2 Gen 2) ports on my MB but I need more. I am studying my degree in digital media, and aside from the keyboard and mouse, I have a: C922 Pro Webcam, Desktop Light, Boom Mic, Wacom Graphic Tablet, Brother printer and a Headset that I need to run simultaneously. I don't recall the LTT guys ever running a segment on hardware like this, but if they have PLEASE direct me to that!!! The obvious answer would be to use the ones on the front, HOWEVER, I wish to refrain from having too many cables in the front of my tower, as you could understand. Can anyone help me here and direct to what I could get for something like this? Issues: - Don't care if it sits on Desktop, Mounted or otherwise - I live in Australia, so please do not suggest places in the US that I cannot access. I am looking for products not store locations. - Specifically looking for something that isn't bulky Specifications: (GPU in process of Upgrade) Component Selection CPU AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 3.7 GHz 12-Core Processor CPU Cooler Cooler Master A71C 38.99 CFM CPU Cooler Motherboard Asus TUF GAMING B550M-PLUS WIFI II Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard Memory G.Skill Ripjaws V 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory Storage Gigabyte GP-GSTFS31240GNTD 240 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive GPU ASUS RX580 8GB Case Thermaltake Versa H17 MicroATX Mini Tower Case Power Supply Corsair RM750 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply Operating System Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM - DVD 64-bit

I wasn't sure where to post this so hopefully this section of the forums is correct. Budget (including currency): N/A Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mainly for work, gaming here and there and just overall anything Other details: I just got myself a pre-built pc. I've always wanted to build one since early 2000's because my last desktop was a Compaq presario from mid 90's to 02-ish? So that died and I had to get something quickly as an alternative so I ended getting an old/used Dell inspiron from a local pawnshop. Served me a few extra years until that died around 07. By this time cellphones was getting "smarter" and that's pretty much all I've used since until now and I always wanted to build a pc but never got around to it. With this being said, I am completely out of the loop when it comes to PC spec talks. I've been watching many many videos about everything related in general or to a particular component. Some things are still a blur too as I'm trying to figure out if my current configuration if it's up to par or if any needs to be changed. The reason I went with pre-built was due to getting a GPU and to have a overall starting point. Ofcourse it's not the same as fully building one but if I did my research correctly, my pc has room for improvements. I got the pre-built from bestbuy and here is the link for it: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/skytech-gaming-shiva-gaming-pc-desktop-amd-ryzen-5-5600x-16g-memory-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3060-ti-1tb-nvme-120mm-aio-white/6482938.p?skuId=6482938 This build appealed to me as it fit the budget (was hoping for a 3080 but those builds was too much) and after seeing the product pictures and costumer review pictures, I knew I was getting a pc built somewhat shot from the hip as the listing itself didn't specify some brands that where being installed, just the basic keywords to grab attention and sells. So I finally received my pc two days ago which I have yet to start up. Did an A-Z check through to see if anything is loose or over tightened (which some screws were) cleaned up the cables a bit amd did some research now that I have it and able to tell what exactly I payed for. I've tried setting up the list on pcpartpicker but some parts are incorrect as It's not listed; https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ :Parts list: In Win 101 case 3x In Win Jupiter AJ120 fans In Win P65F 650w non-modular PSU (Not shown in partpicker) 120mm AIO that really looks like a clone of NZTX Kraken but with a skytech logo on glass display AMD Ryzen 5600x Asus prime b550-plus ac-hes (I've trying searching for "ac-hes" meaning and cannot find anything about it, not even in asus site about this Mobo. And also partpicker doesn't have it) 2x8gb XPG GAMMIX ddr4 @3200 cl16 MSI M370 1tb NVME M.2 (partpicker doesn't have it and Google doesn't show it) Gigabyte eagle OC 3060ti I've tried to get as close as possible to what I have on pcpartpicker and I have a warning; Warning! The Asus PRIME B550-PLUS ATX AM4 Motherboard supports the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor with BIOS version 1004. If the motherboard is using an older BIOS version, upgrading the BIOS will be necessary to support the CPU. So i searched for this and looked at some videos, many comments are saying not to do this because it's irreversible and bad. I'm concerned if it was already done to it or not and I'm not sure if that warning is legit or I have overlooked something. I'm trying to see what parts is upgradable as is currently stands. I know the 120AIO needs to go for a 240 atleast and some extra fans as this case isn't the best for flow unless I'm overthinking Please help this n00b out! Thank you

Okay, so. I'm want to change my gaming laptop and have been saving up for a couple of months now, waiting for a good opportunity. I was gonna wait for Black Friday but I came across this on Micro Center Lenovo Legion 5 15 15.6" Gaming Laptop Computer Platinum Collection - Blue AMD Ryzen 7 5800H 3.2GHz Processor; NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 6GB GDDR6; 16GB DDR4-3200 RAM (CL22 1Rx8); 1TB Solid State Drive On 1199 USD$. I though that was a really good price for those specs, but I'm not sure if maybe on Black Friday I might get a better deal on a similar specs machine. So what do you guys think? should i buy now or wait for Black Friday?

Hi All! Firstly thanks for popping in and this is in Australian English . My situation is that I would like part/setup advice/suggestions in relation to a new network setup. I am currently in the process of building a home in Australia (yet for concrete to be poured). This house is going to have what we call in Australia FTTP which just means a Fibre connection into the house (as linked). This is the first time I have had access to start from scratch networking wise. I would really appreciate some advise in relation to what this community would suggest solution wise. I am not on a specific 'budget' per say but I have not won the lottery either nor am I a networking genius. My mission has many separate operating capability outcomes that I am looking to solve with your suggestions or what I have just overlooked completely. 1) A central 12-18RU Server Rack & 10gb switch that is capable of supplying a solution. 2) To have Cat6A/E or fibre connection to every room. 3) A dedicated secure storage server (I currently have a spinning drive setup but would be looking to keep/move offsite and upgrade to Solid State Storage) 4) A dedicated media server running plex. 5) A dedicated local security camera setup including POE access for 4-8 Cameras (with no monthly subscription and I "own/control" the data) 6) All TVs/monitors have access to view the "security camera channel" 7) To have a media connection directly to every room(HDMI/DP) 8) WIFI solution to cover entire house & small backyard. 9) Have two rack mounted computers that will be accessible around the house. 10) Have a PSU that will trigger a safer shut down sequence. Attached and below is the current electrical plan that iv'e worked on

Hi there all! First-timer here when it comes to seriously trying to get a decent set up built for gaming. Usually a console guy due to the simplicity (hate dealing with PC failures), but after getting burnt on some console ports of games I really was looking forward to, I decided enough was enough and to finally buck up and dive in. Here's what I've been thinking and planning, with the information I do know in regards to building a PC from Linus and others Budget (including currency): $2500 USD, $2750 USD with sales tax (A little over $2500 is totally okay, I just don't want to pay a lot more in taxes than I already will have to) Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Only games. Too many games to count really! But for an example of higher end games I want to play, we're looking at Doom Eternal and Flight Simulator as the newest released games and hopefully the upcoming RE4 remake. In general though, FPS and other genres of games that are generally better with keyboard and mouse. Feel free to ask about any specifics if they are needed! Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cgHTpH CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 3.8 GHz 8-Core Processor CPU Cooler: Corsair iCUE H100i ELITE CAPELLIX 75 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler Motherboard: Gigabyte B550 AORUS ELITE ATX AM4 Motherboard Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory OS Storage: Corsair MP600 Force Series Gen4 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive Game Storage: Seagate Barracuda Compute 8 TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive GPU: EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 8 GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING Video Card Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply: Corsair RMx (2021) 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit Case Fan: Corsair iCUE SP120 RGB ELITE 47.7 CFM 120 mm Fans 3-Pack Monitor: Sceptre C305B-200UN 30.0" 2560x1080 200 Hz Monitor Other Notes: I don't generally plan on purchasing anything quite yet, need to save up and get back to my job. I do know though that my priority should be to get the GPU and CPU first due to the high demand and price. I mainly value stability and framerates over graphics. So no pushing for 4K or anything close to it. I'd say 1920 x 1080 is the general target. Framerates are key for me, and so as high of framerates and refresh rate as possible, with 60fps being the minimum, is key for me. Only one monitor I'm planning, 200hz, which is the one listed in the parts list. I plan on maxing out the number of case fans possible to make sure that everything stays as cool as possible. Noise isn't that much of a concern for me, as long as I can clearly tell there isn't something wrong with it all. The 8TB hard drive is solely to hold as many games as possible, don't really like deleting and redownloading them all too much Mouse & Keyboard are not needed, I have gaming ones from my current budget build from all the way back from 2014. Most likely, other peripherals are not needed either. Looks and RGB is cool, but overall I prefer function over form. Oh and also, not a streamer or content creator or anything for that. Thanks in advance for all of your help! WMK

Thoughts? CPU: Intel Core i5-12600K - Core i5 12th Gen Alder Lake 10-Core (6P+4E) 3.7 GHz LGA 1700 125W Intel UHD Graphics 770 Desktop Processor - BX8071512600K Seems to be a bang for the price. Is it worth investing in something better? From what it seems to me, the i7s and i9s are not that much better for the increased cost. CPU Cooler: CORSAIR iCUE H150i ELITE CAPELLIX Liquid CPU Cooler LGA 1700 Compatible - White GPU: I am planning on waiting to find a GPU when the prices are better. Currently looking at a few rtx 3070 ti cards that are around $7-800. I would love to have a 3080, but that seems impossible in the current market. Power Supply: CORSAIR RMx White Series RM750x White (CP-9020187-NA) 750W 80 PLUS Gold Certified, Fully Modular Power Supply, 10 Year Warranty Will this be enough if I end up with a 3070 ti RAM: G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3600 (PC4 28800) Intel XMP 2.0 Desktop Memory Model F4-3600C18D-32GTZR SSD: SAMSUNG 980 PRO M.2 2280 1TB PCI-Express Gen 4.0 x4, NVMe 1.3c Samsung V-NAND 3-bit MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-V8P1T0B/AM Currently the total price will be around $1,366.14 USD on newegg. I am hoping to keep it just above $2,000 when I finally add a GPU. I also know the next line of NVIDIA cards are rumored to launch this fall, worth waiting?

Hi Guys, I have been a longtime follower of LTT. Got enough information from thier video and forums to build my own PC last year. I have gotten into an issue with my PC, and unable to fix the same. Would really appreciate any help I can get on the below issue. The problem started when while playing MW (2019) my graphics card fans would randomly ramp up and screen would go blank. I updated all my drivers and made sure windows was up to date. System seemed to be working fine for a bit, then it started having same issues again, and despite me deleting all graphics drivers and reinstalling them, my screen started going blank even when not playing a game. I know the system continued to work since it happened when I was watching a video, I could hear the sound but the screen had gone blank. I tried updating other bios but to no avail. Now my PC would not even post anything at start. The system starts up, the fans start, nothing shows up on the screen and the system itself shuts off and starts again and this goes on a loop until I manually power it off. Additionally I see 2 white lights where I connected the power cable to GPU. I read this indicates a power issue, i tried different cables but the issue persisted. Given I have a 750 Watt PSU I doubt it is lacking in power. Please let me know if anyone has a clue as to what could be causing the issue? My System Details: Motherboard: ASRock Z370 Killer SLI/ac LGA 1151 (300 Series) Intel Z370 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard CPU: Intel Core i5-8600K Coffee Lake 6-Core 3.6 GHz (4.3 GHz Turbo) LGA 1151 (300 Series) 95W BX80684I58600K Desktop CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-L9i 92mm SSO2 CPU Cooler RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) Desktop Memory Model F4-2400C15D-16GVR GPU: GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 2080 GAMING OC 8G Graphics Card, 3 x WINDFORCE Fans, 8GB 256-Bit GDDR6, GV-N2080GAMING OC-8GC Video PSU: CORSAIR CX Series CX750 (New) CP-9020123-NA 750W ATX12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Non-Modular Active PFC Power Supply Given the lock down I'm unable to get any outside help, any advice is really appreciated.

Im currently planning out my first ever budget custom pc build. It'll mainly be used for programming, video editing and some light gaming; rocket league, minecraft and paladins at most. I've chosen to go with a mini-itx form factor, so that way in case I ever need to bring it somewhere I can do so without having to bring a big beast. If you dont mind, could you please go over my list and tell me about anything that you think would be helpful for me to know. List: https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/3EA9V3DM8L5F1/ref=cm_wl_huc_title Thanks. ($600 budget)

Hello everybody! I noticed you guys actually had a forum for introducing yourself, sooo here I am. I'm Goblin, I've been lurking here since September 2015 after I nuked a 970 during a hybrid mod. I'm a long time (17+ year) poster over at ArsTechnica though I really appreciate the difference between the two forums. I don't have a high post count but I've tried to bring you all quality content with a slight sense of humor. Some of my past threads include: Mining Monero (XMR) with my current gear? Let's look at some numbers How To Install Pi-Hole in Windows via Hyper-V & Debian (network wide ad-blocking) (video included) Extreme LTE Networking (double yagi) (t-mobile) (band 12) (video included) Building satellite dish 4G/LTE signal boosters out of spare parts 970 Mod Failure! Where did I go wrong? (Kraken X31 via G10 Bracket) (Pics) You can see there's not many I've created here, though I have tried to be accurate and helpful throughout all of them. As you might very quickly notice reading the XMR thread, I can at times be very long winded. So be prepared for that, though other then the warning I just thought I'd drop in and say hello to everybody! Soo LTT forums, how you doing? I like to read you & see what all the kids are up to now a days with your spinners, what nots, and other nonsenses. 'Goblin

Hi, I am about to try and upgrade my PC myself. This is the first time for me doing a build/upgrade. I do gaming streaming, edit videos and photos and play games mostly. I've seen some videos on YouTube but was just wondering if someone could help me with the following questions please. Here is a list of my old parts and the ones upgrading to: AMD FX9590 -------------- AMD Ryzen 9 3900X RAM DD3 32GB ---------- RAM G.SKILL F4 16GB DDR4 3600Mhz Dual Channel MSI 990FXA Gaming --- MSI X570 Gaming Pro Carbon Strix Radeon RX480 ---- AMD RX 5700 XT Corsair H110i ------------- Corsair AX1500i --------- The Ryzen 9 comes with a Wraith Prism - should I just use that or keep using the H110i instead? Also, can I just use my current SSD + HDD without having to format them or do I need to format them due to the components upgrades? If there's any videos in particular you think would help me on my attempt or if you have any suggestions/comments that would please let me know as it is much appreciated. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this and super grateful for anyone that replies of course.

I am looking for some advice about video cameras or cameras for video. Its not for me, I don't know the first thing about recording video yet. My aunt and uncle who runs a ballet and modern dance classes wants to film some stuff so they can share with their students and friends and use it for promoting ther business. Because they think I know a bit about tech they asked me if I could help them choose a camera. I know that Dslrs can be used to record video but I am not sure if it would be in their best interest to go down this road perhaps a real video camera will be better. I read through some other discussions here to see what people had to say about different cameras. Any advice on what models could be nice? They are willing to spend up to $2000. @ALwin do you have any recommendations for a camera since you know a lot, perhaps you have an idea of what kind of camera might be ideal for them. By the way, is this a joke? I'm still a beginner at photography but even I know that I can do more with raw than jpegs. I am in love with what can be done with raw and lightroom.

I keep running into problems with certain Windows updates, mostly the "Security Updates for Windows 7 for x64-based systems." After what seems like a normal update, as it shuts down it configures the updates to 30%, it restarts. When it starts back up, it stalls on 72%, then goes up to 85% and it gives me this error message: "Failure Configuring Windows Updates. Reverting Changes. Do not turn off your computer." Afterwards, it restarts once and gives the same error code and restarts again, allowing me to use Windows without that update installed. Not all updates give me this error and some are successful, but it's still common. I've done some basic troubleshooting like running Windows troubleshooter applications, restarting the computer, trying the updates in a clean boot state, but none have worked so far. I've also had problems regarding lag in games and completely dropping connections at times, which I have not had on Linux Mint (not sure if that's related). I'm dual booting Windows 7 and Linux Mint. It's a second-hand computer, so I didn't have any install disks directly from any manufacturer, so I downloaded one that was linked on the side of /r/microsoftsoftwareswap, burned it to a DVD, and installed it. It appears that Microsoft dropped their support for the Windows 7 Pro ISO and I didn't want to go through a torrent client, so that was the option I came up with. The Windows 7 license that I'm using is genuine. Linux Mint works fine on the machine and Windows is the only one I've had problems with. The system's specs are: Windows 7 Pro x64 Core 2 Duo E7600 4GB of RAM EVGA GT 730 320W Stock HP PSU A 250GB HDD with Linux Mint A 1TB HDD with 850GB for Windows and 150GB shared between Linux and Windows This was a prebuilt from HP that I put a GT 730 and 1TB HDD in. I don't know what to do from here, so I'm looking for advice. Maybe I should redownload the ISO (from the same source?), make another bootable disk and start from there? I could also sign up for the technical preview of Windows 10 (or just wait for Windows 10 altogether), if getting an ISO directly from Microsoft is a better option. Please ask me if any more information is needed! I'm pretty new with Windows (worked mostly with Linux and OSX before), so the most obvious solutions may be completely foreign to me. Thank you!

Hey I'm Daniel So I recently (about 4 months ago) build my first PC after about a year or so looking around at parts and getting my feel the way things work. I'm now ready to overclock my computer but don't trust any of the YouTube videos so I turn to you guys to gain a better understanding on how to overclock. My goal from posting this: I'd like to gain a good amount of knowledge and understand of how overclocking works and a deeper understanding of how it affects my computer. Rig Specs: Case - NZXT Phantom 530 w/ Window Motherboard - Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6GB/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard CPU - AMD FX-8350 Black Edition Vishera 4.0GHz (4.2GHz turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W 8-core Heatsink - Hyper 212 EVo PSU - SeaSonic M12II 850W+ PSU Modular Graphics Cards - Two (2) Nvidia Windforce GTX 760 2GB Gigabite PCIe SSD - 256GB Crucial 2.5" M550 7mm SATA 6Gb/s HDD - 1 Tb Weston Digital 3.5" 7200 RPM SATA 6GB/s Black Edition Optical Drive - DVD Writer Samsung 24x SATA Black PN SH-224Db/BEBS ((((Can provide pictures if requested)))) I've included everything just for clarity for people trying to help me as I want to reduce confusion as much as possible Air flow: Intake: Two (2) 200mm NZXT FS-200 in the front of my computer (Can provide pictures if requested) Two (2) 120mm Sickle Flow X in the bottom of my computer (Can provide pictures if requested) Outtake: Two (2) 200mm NZXT FS-200 in the top of my computer (Can provide pictures if requested) One (1) 140mm BitFenix Spectre at the back of my computer (Can provide pictures if requested) Extra information: My PSU fan is facing into the computer if that makes any difference to cooling as I know AMD builds run hotter than Intel builds. I also have an extra 140mm BitFenix Spectre laying around which can me mounted to the side panel is extra cooling if suggested. Again, if any pictures are requested I am more than happy to post some as I am very proud of my PC

I don't know much about building my own rig from the ground up. I don't know how to inspect the stats of my pic. And don't get me started on over-clocking. However I want to learn! I want to build my own rig. How do I start? I need super basic help. I've been watching every single YouTube video I can find that could help and linustechtips is overall the best I have found. Hi I’m looking at building my first DIY gaming PC for around the $1000 mark, I want to be able to play games like BattleField 4 resemble will. I live in Australia so I’m getting my computer parts from “PC case gear” which is one of the cheapest stores in Australia. This is what I’m think so far Motherboard: $119 ASUS M5A97 R2.0 CPU: $179 AMD FX-8320 Case: $159 NZXT H440 (I know I could save a lot of money on the case, although I can’t go past this one.) RAM: $99 Kingston hyper X 8GB PSU: $60 Antec Basiq 500watt SSD: $75 Kingmax 120GB GPU: $259 Gainward GTX 760 2GB HDD: $65 Toshiba DT01ACA100 1TB 7200RPM Which comes to $1015 Any thought on what could make it better or if the finished machine will even be any good? PS. I know that the prices are pretty high, but that just how they are in Australia.
