Recently I got a GTX 670 (gigabyte windforce x3 OC) off eBay as a spare card for testing shenanigans for only $40 and it works great with my older testing/spare system (I5-760, H55 motherboard, 8GB DDR3, 430w PSU, actually a solid rig for some gaming) but when I put it in my main computer (I5-9600K @5.1ghz, MSI z390 A-pro, 16gb DDR4 2133mhz, 600W PSU) the 670 boot loops. I hit the power button, the card's fans spin up and ramp up higher and higher but then the computer shuts off on the VGA testing LED with no video output then starts back up again, only way to stop it is to shut off the PSU. my newer main PC works with all my other GPUs (GT 240, GTX 560, and GTX 1060 3gb). I know its not an issue with PSU size, what I have should be plenty. Ive tried: Disabling OC Clearing CMOS removing RAM PCIE 2.0 mode running with another GPU (booted but crashed on windows lock screen) Different slots on motherboard outputting from integrated when booting I plan to try it in my brother's PC (ryzen 5 3600x & b550) but I have not done so yet

Hi, so I have been building this pc for a couple of months now, and as it would be finished it just wont post. Fans are spinning, mobo lights are on but nothing else. Specs: Asus PRIME B450M-A Ryzen 5 2600 Gigabyte GTX 670 (damn shortages) 2x8GB G.Skill Ripjaws V Some older 600W Cooler Master PSU The problem is, that separately all of the components seem to be working just fine. I have swapped the ram, and the gpu as well. They should be fine. The mobo and cpu have been sent back to the retailer for checkup but no problems were found then. Anyone any thoughts?

Hello, this is my current System: CPU : Intel Core i5-3570K, Overclocked to 4x 4.20GHz Mainboard: ASUS P8Z77-M, Intel Z77 GPU: Gainward GeForce GTX 670 Phantom 2048MB GDDR5 (256 bits) RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1866 (2x 4GB) Power Supply: 600W - BeQuiet! Straight Power E9 CPU-Cooler: BeQuiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 No SSD I want to invest in a GTX 1070 to run modern games and future titles like Star Citizen (if it will be released anytime) in good quality at 60fps and more. In addition to that i was thinking about getting a SSD and invest in 16GB of RAM with 1866Mhz. This all together would cost around 800€. At the moment I'm not sure if it wouldn't be better to invest into a new system to get things like DDR4 RAM, a newer CPU and an insulated case. Since my 3570K does not heat over 41°C at full load i could Overclock it up to 4.50GHz without any problems i guess. So what do you guys think? Could it be better to wait for a new GPU gengeration maybe? Thanks for you help!

Hey guys, i'm really looking forward to get a very large 30++ inch ultra wide monitor and i'm willing to spend more on monitor, but the thing is i'm still using my GTX 670 2GB card and i'm not looking into upgrading my card yet because it's still a good card for me.. For GAMING yes.. I'm currently using an ACER 23" LED wide monitor.. Big screen is my aim.. Graphics performance is second thought.. There were some monitor i kind a like of getting it like the LG 29um68, Acer Predator x34, Acer Predator z35, Benq XR3501, and LG 34uc98.. Any recommendation or suggestion would be grateful would be grateful..

Looking for a cheap graphics card for light to medium gaming. I saw and ad on craigslist for a radeon 7770 for $50 and got him down to $35. he said he also had a Gtx 670 FTW edition and would give it to me for $60. When i was building my pc i was looking into getting a Gtx 1050 ti for $140 (There shows my budget i wanted to spend for a gpu). I was wondering if the Gtx 670 was worth the $50 (talked him down) or should i save a little more and get the gtx 1050 ti? also i only currently have a 400w psu because i am mostly using the pc for work. Is that even going to be enough power for a Gtx 670 or should i use my 7 year old munchkin 800w psu? Ps got the idea to look up parts after watching 3 seasons of scrapyard wars. i was seeing the price to performance and got intrigued.

So I recently have bought a gtx 670 in a store called CEX, It looked fine, used, and when I got home I examined it, and found what appears to be corrosion. I took some pictures so you can see. I am not 100% sure this is corrosion, but if it is, will it still work? If it works, should I still use it? Can it damage my PC's components if I install it? If you can't see the corrosion, i'll post some better photos. I'm new here, if i posted in the wrong place tell me also.

Hi everyone, I'm stuck with what is a better option. I have a i7 3770k 16 gb ddr3 2400 ram gtx 670 in a z77 sabertooth mobo. My question is should i just upgrade the graphics card, hoping to get more years out of it. Or do i go the route of a new mobo, ram, cpu and graphics card. I know I could get a better graphics card and call it a day. Which would save a tone of money. Was curoius if i went that route. How many years am i getting out of the other components besides the graphics card ? I was thinking of getting a gaming laptop if i end up upgrading completely. Any suggestions ? I really do love the thermaltake battle edition case. Would hate to see it go to waste, if I went the laptop route. But sometimes its nice not to be stuck at a desk all day when I get home from work.

i am seriously considering finally biting down and bios modding my GPU to max out the voltage limit and get the highest overclock possible. however i have never done any bios modding before so i need all relevant info on bios modding Kepler (gtx 600 series) cards. also i need to know all possible risks involved and how to go about reversing any negative effects. essentially i need a full bios mod guide. please only comment if you have experience and have done bios modding with a 600 series card!

When I turn on my pc there is no display with two short beeps and one long one and the GPU fan at 100%. I used a different video card and the pc showed a display so it's not the motherboard's fault, I switched the video card again to a gtx 560 which requires the same 2 six pins and everything worked fine so it's not the PSU fault. I tried taking out the cmos for 10min and putting it back in and that didn't change anything. So is something wrong with the gtx 670? Specs i5 750 manli gtx 670 thermaltake Tr2 RX 550 (Not sure how old) ms-7613 ver 1.1 motherboard 8gb ddr3 ram Windows 7 64bit Weird thing, This pc was an Oem and it had originally 4gb of ram. I upgraded it two another 4gb. When I took out the 4gb of ram i put in the pc and left the original 4gb the pc stopped beeping but there still was no display and the fans were still at 100%

ASUS GTX 670 DCU2 re-paste is it worth the risk?
tryhard techy1169 posted a topic in Troubleshooting
For the past 6.5 years i have been using my ASUS GTX 670 dcu2 with no issues and good temps thanks to an aggressive fan curve. while there is technically no problem with my card the way it is rite now i would like to potentially lower my temps and try for a slightly better overclock. if that can't be accomplished then i can easily live with lower fan speeds. however there is significant risk involved. if i accidentally damage my GPU i am screwed. this is my one and only GPU and i do not have the money to fix or replace it. with all that said i have 3 main questions. 1. can i safely and easily remove the cooler from my gpu to swap the thermal paste and are there any guides showing how to do it? 2. can i safely use arctic silver thermal paste on the GPU die? 3. if done will it give a noticeable enough impact to have made it worth it? aka substantially lower temps and more overclocking headroom. please only comment if you have experience re-pasting GPU's. speculation from people that have never done this doesn't help me in any sense of the word. i look forward to reading your responses and thank you for reading.- 4 replies

In my previous post I mentioned I planned to upgrade from an old dell workstation. I planned on getting a Dell Optiplex (either 3/7/990 or 30/70/9010) but before I bought it I wanted to know if my Graphics Card would fit. It's a GTX 670 DirectCU II with a length of 10.7 inches.

I bought a GTX 670 off of ebay for 85$ 2 months ago and was wondering if I should be worried about it's age and health, especially when overclocking. Is OC'ing a stb 6 year old GPU a bad idea? The overclocks i have on it are: a 200mhz Core and Memory clock.

Hi, I bought a new monitor (SAMSUNG U28E590D) and I can connect it to the pc using hdmi. But whenever I try to use Displayport it just shows a black screen because there's no connection. There's neither an entry in the Nvidia control panel nor in the windows control panel showing the monitor. Reinstalling the nvidia drivers didn't fix the issue. The input of the monitor was always set to displayport when needed. What also suprised me is that the bios doesn't show up on startup if only the displayport cable is connected to the 670. I've never used the displayport of my gtx 670 before. Could it be broken or is there anything else I can try?

So, I just ordered a used gtx 980 to replace my gtx 670. But how should I install it? Do iIjust plug it in, or do I need to uninstall the drivers before putting in the new card?

Hi, This morning I discovered that my pc wasn't showing anything on the display. I then tried clearing the cmos and try again however that didn't work. So then I tried using onboard graphics with my 670 still in the pcie slot with power. I to my surprise discovered it then worked. So I went into the bios to change from onboard graphics to pcie however it still only worked with onboard. Upon going into device manager in windows 10 I have discovered that my GTX 670 is showing as an NVIDIA GRID K520 which I believe to be a variant of the 670's chip. Does anyone know what has caused this and ideally how to fix it? Any help is much appreciated thanks!

Hi. A few months ago my graphics card (a GTX 670) decided to kick the bucket, and since then I've been running on integrated graphics while saving for a new card. My card options are probably rather limited, as I have an Alienware X51, so it's ultra compact, with only a 330W PSU AND requires the GPU to have a reference cooler. I was originally planning on getting a 4GB GTX 960 as it apparently performs a bit better than a 670 while being cooler and using less power. I was wondering if an RX 480 would work in the case instead, as it's obviously better than the 960, and not all that more expensive last time I checked. I wasn't sure, how hot would the RX 480 get relative to the GTX 670?

I just bought a GTX 670 yesterday and set it up in my PC. It worked completely fine for half a day, and today, midway through playing GTA V, all my screens went black and the GPU fan started spinning at max speed. I immediately turned off my computer, turned it back on, and the fan started spinning at max speed again. After turning it on and off again, the GPU started working fine again. This exact issue happened again about 2 hours later and was back to normal after I did the same as I did last time. However, the third time it happened (when I wasn't playing a game), the PC did not post after multiple attempts of turning it off and on again. I checked all of the connections and took out the 2x6 pins and put them back in and had the same issue. I have an FX-8350 and a 430W PSU, so I figured that it might be the PSU not having enough power, so I installed the graphics card into another PC with a 500W PSU and had the same problem. After about 3 attempts with that PC, it started working again! So I brought it back to my PC and it worked. I have no doubt this issue will occur again, and I could not find another forum post with the same issue as mine so I have to find out what the problem seems to be.

Hey there! Before you recommend anything: please don't link anything off sale at amazon or something, 'since I live in Finland and I use euros as my currency. I don't want to order from UK. I'm planning to upgrade my PC. Overclocking may be an option, but I would love to hear the communitys opinion on my next move first. I will use my setup mainly for gaming, not multimedia. I'm currently running a setup which consists of a non-overclocked FX-6300 running at the stock speed (3.5GHz; turbo disabled) and a GTX 670 Mini with 2GB (Factory Overclocked). My motherboard is M5A78L-LE (50€~) and my RAM is HyperX Fury 2x4GB 1600MHz CL9 1.6V. I have a regular 500GB HDD (7 years old, still going strong), an ASUS DVD-RW (new) and finally my PSU is a Corsair 600W 80+ Bronze. I was planning to keep my GTX 670 as it seems to be a beast card still to this day, and it's even overclocked. It could save money too. What do you guys think, though? I have like 4 case fans, but I don't have a CPU cooler. I don't see any problems with my PSU, but I'm not an expert. My setup is like 2 years old. Thank you in advance if you guys could help me out a bit! Random Budget: 700-1000€~? (low as possible.) Things I don't need (imo; feel free to disagree with me!): Case Fans Power Supply DVD-RW PC Case RAM (or buy 16GB?) GPU

I'm not sure if my GPU is dying or what is happening so i decided to ask here. The video drivers were crashing daily on Counter Strike: Global Offensive, until i hard booted my pc, after that it seemed to work just fine until the next day, however if i didn't hard boot, i would keep crashing the drivers like every 5minutes until the drivers wouldn't boot up anymore and i was left with a black screen and had to do a hardboot. I fixed this temporarily for few days by Underclocking my GPU, but today, the drivers crashed again i guess? but i was just left with the black screen and the video drivers didn't boot back up, so i had to do a hard boot. I have reinstalled my Nvidia video drivers etc in safe mode. Also i think my FPS has gone down in CSGO for sure, used to be +250 on max settings etc, but nowadays it hardly reaches 200 and im not even running on max settings, sometimes the fps goes down to 40-60 and will stay there for like 5mins. It's running at 71ºc/160ºf usually while i play games, the max temp it has reached is 78ºc/172ºf It also has bluescreened roughly about 5 times because of GPU atleast couple of times i think with the following errors: VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE ( nviddrnkm.sys) (2 times this error) DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION (3times this error) Should i try reinstalling Windows 10? If that might help or is my gpu dying?.. Specs Win 10 64bit i7-4790k evga gtx 670 2gb some shitty 700w psu 16gb ram asus z97-a motherboard NVIDIA Driver version is the latest. I made a topic about the crashing here before:

Hey, im having some problems with my graphics card, sometimes my coreclock and memoryclock get stuck at 324 Mhz even while im ingame. The high clockspeed is over 1000Mhz witch is waht it should be when i play. This thing comes and goes, i don't know why. Thanks

Alright so the problem here is that my video drivers keep crashing everyday on Counter Strike: Global Offensive and in Grand Theft Auto V, i haven't had this problem in any other games so far. I just play the game normally and suddenly the drivers crash and they might start back up after 15-30 seconds and maybe if i'm lucky i manage to play 5 minutes after that and it keeps crashing over and over again, until it just freezes completely and i have to restart my PC, however after restarting the PC the drivers haven't crashed anymore, i reinstalled nvidia drivers completely, removed them with DDU. This started happening few months ago, it was fine until that. -Sorry if this isn't the right section- Specs Win 10 64bit i7-4790k evga gtx 670 2gb some shitty 700w psu 16gb ram asus z97-a motherboard NVIDIA Driver version is the latest.
