I replaced the motherboard, cpu and memory recently as I upgraded, but I've been having all sorts of issues at complete random and I have no idea what the culprit is. To start, sometimes the pc boots with zero issues. No freezing, no bsod, no nothing. But then randomly, it'll do this (images attached). It freezes on booting, it'll glitch the bios completely out. And the bios will freeze up, and the pc with put out an A9 error on the board. I'll also hear the 1 long beep and 3 short beeps (at least i think that's what it is unless it's the gpu fans being squeaky? Sounds like its coming from the gpu.) But I just replaced the memory and it's the same issue on both kits, so it can't be that. I also have integrated graphics so is it possible the dedicated gpu would cause a freeze even with Integrated graphics? I have seen a few nvlddmkm errors in windows while playing games, so maybe it could be a gpu issue? I just bought a new motherboard, memory, and cpu so those are returnable if they are the issue. I think it could be the gpu but I don't know with the bios being wacky. I do have the latest bios version and drivers as well. I honestly have no idea anymore so if anyone has any ideas that would be helpful. Hey everyone is me again, I’ve been trying to fix my younger brothers gaming laptop (Dell G7 7790), I’m normally really good with tech and can figure things out. I’ve been having a problem trying to solve this and don’t know what to do anymore. The whole story in a nutshell the laptop has been treating him fine for the past few years but as he normally asks me to check if his graphics card or windows needs an update, the Norton antivirus said it had updates to do (notification popped up). All of a sudden it was updating non Norton things (like windows stuff and apps on the computer) I can’t remember them exactly it’s been a while since this happened, but I remember a bios screen being involved and the laptop restarting a few times after) So this caused a problem in the laptop later running ridiculously slow, can’t run anything. Sometimes windows settings won’t even load. He had an external drive as a mass storage for games and that drive got corrupted after whatever Norton did. I ran i diagnostic test and command I found a while back to check the integrity of the files and games on that external drive, long story short, some things were ok, others were broken, but the drive isn’t accessible in windows. These past 4-5 months we’ve been busy with school and summer so I never really got around to being able to fix it. We’ve gotten a new nvme (fix/upgrade) in the hopes of cloning/recovering the old files/data from his external drive. The problem is after I installed the new internal nvme the laptop was still having its sluggish problems. I couldn’t even open settings or anything without either “no internet connection” (while being connected to the internet) or just a blank app pop up. I did some research on the laptop and it turns on some bios version was causing problems. Dell has an option to rollback/revert to a previous bios model. I attempted this and I thought I was finally getting somewhere once I saw this (image attached). I thought that everything would be fine when it showed that it was removing whatever was corrupted/messed up from that last update thing Norton did. BUT ITS BEEN STUCK LIKE THIS FOR 2hrs now. I’ve been searching update things like this in this laptop and others and been getting solutions of either “your screwed abs say goodbye to the laptop” or “unplug the laptop, let the battery drain out, and turn it back on (it’ll turn on or you have to be lucky)” I'm not really sure what to do and don’t want to risk bricking his laptop! P.S. I’ve seen some things about bios recovery or using a usb to flash the bios to be able to access the laptop again BUT I DONT KNOW HOW TO PROCEED, any help or tips is welcome just please . (it’s late currently where I am so I will let it run over night, hopefully it’ll be resolved but I would really appreciate any help)

So this started happening yesterday after my pc randomly froze I yanked out the power cord in frustration and now every time I start my computer it just freezes under a minute or two and stays frozen forever this is getting really frustrating. I booted into safe mode and it works fine but when I switch back it freezes again. Does anybody know what is happening here?

Hi guys, i was so confused that if im using 4 sticks of RAM (16 x 4) i always getting freeze @ loading screen or even if i can enter to dekstop it ended up freeze too. What is cause of this problem? And how to fix this? CPU : i7 8700 Mobo : MSI MAG Z390 Tomahawk RAM : Corsair CMW32GX4M2A2666C16 [32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 2666 (PC4-21300), 16-18-18-36, 1.35V] x 2 PSU : Corsair RM 650 OS : Windows 10 Pro 20H2 19042.906 I've tried config RAM in BIOS but no luck : - Disable / Enable XMP - Set to lower speed I've tried all combination of the ram positions, the point is, if 4 sticks installed = freeze * currently im using only 3 sticks and no problem * i've ever read about things called "dual rank" about my RAM, i think this may cause the problem? My windows keeps making me do an update almost every time I shut down or restart my PC. This update always gets stuck at 48% (for several hours until I eventually force shutdown). Also I've noticed very high cpu usage from these two things: - Dism Host Servicing Process - Modern Setup Host I don't know if that's relevant. The update is called 20H2 I think but sometimes it says something different I'm on a laptop with an rtx 2060 and an intel cpu. I've tried the troubleshooter, I've tried resetting the PC, and I've tried yelling at it really loud to convince it to work, but I have had no success. Please help if you can.

Hi I need help. My google translate doesn't work and it is the strangest thing ever. The same situation happens on firefox, chrome and brave browser in a normal mode as well as in incognito mode. The general problem looks like that: Notice that the word counter doesn't count words. Additionally, when I press enter google tranlate skips a line and does not initiate the translation as it did in the past. Sometimes I can't even access the left translation box. The strangest part is shown here: The build in translator that opens when you search for google tranlate works normally. Any ideas on what should I do or what is the source of the problem?

Hi, I have reason to believe my GPU is the cause of my crashes whenever I play a game. Back in October 25, 2020, I created a thread on the same topic, which you can see here: At the time I thought I found the solution which was to disconnect my 4th HDD. Sadly, it turns out it wasn't the fix as over time I notice it recurring whenever I played a game. At that point I decided to live with it as it wasn't so bad as I could get away with it at times. Unfortenately, this has returned and it happens each time I play Star Wars BattleFront 2. Forever reason when my PC crashes it takes me back to the Windows login screen with the default background (which is a handy indicator for when I know I crashed) What I've done so far: Updated my Intel Chipset My GPU is on the latest driver on 20.12.1 I've updated my Intel Graphics Driver, which was a complete pain to do as every time I restarted it kept prompting me to install it again. I discovered the Driver was already installed because Intel Driver Assist website tells me there are no other updates, so fair enough I've done a quick clean of my PSU filter and checked my front case two fans I have two front case fans which are connected to a PWM Fan Splitter. I took away the Fan Splitter thinking it may have consumed too much power when temp was getting high because of course the PC only sees one fan cable and not two I've gone as far to update my BIOS. This was done long after the first topic as I was clueless on what to do next. I regret doing this as when I use EZ Tune and choose the Gaming profile it instantly crashes my PC. I to instead use Stand profile On the latest Windows version (20H2) I was using MSI AfterBurner and I was messing around with the Fan control. I was increasing and decreasing all while I was in Star Wars BattleFront 2 ingame for few minutes In my previous topic I mention I have valid warrenty, which is all good but I can't be away from my PC as I need it for work too. I very much hope someone can analyze these two files (Event Viewer file and MSI AfterBurner log history) and find out what is the cause of my crashes. I've spentless countless minutes starring at them and I can't fingure out what is the cause. So i installed new memory (ddr4 16gb 3200mhz). I checked the mb and cpu manufacturer page and they support it. I have (cpu) amd ryzen 5 3400g and (mb) erica2 from HP (chipset: B550A) and it crashed many times randomly and once it froze on the bluescreen from then it freezes on the startscreen of windows (pc turns on but screen freezes)

Hi, so for around 6 months now i have had a problem with my pc where it randomly black screens followed by a reboot. This used to happen infrequently but recently the issue is becoming more prevalent and i worry for the health of my old HDDs. I'm actually a little worried typing this right now knowing it may crash on me.i have tried to narrow this down for a while, I have uninstalled and reinstalled graphics and audio drivers, updated bios, ran memcheck, ran both automatic and manual stress tests. All my thermals are fine, I believe I have plenty wattage for my build as there is no crash at full load on all components. Speaking of my build: GIGABYTE Z390 Gaming X i9-9900k / aio cooler GTX 1070 FTW 2x 16Gb GSkillz DDR4 620w Seasonic PSU (around 7 years old) 1tb nvme 3x HDD (one is usb powered external) Multiple usb devices: Behringer audio interface, IFI DAC, Maschine mikro mk3, bluetooth adapter 2x monitor The problem seems to persist despite my best efforts. As i said, under extreme load my pc is fine, runs like a champ, just yesterday i thought it could be either overheating or psu so i multitasked multiple programs at the same time; Adobe Photoshop (200 layers) + Maschine 2 (track playing) + Abelton live (track playing) + MPC-BE (running madvr video renderer on highest settings) + Gundam Evolution + Firefox (100 tabs and multiple videos playing). My PC took it like a champ, CPU reached 100% with max temp of 100c, GPU also reached max % I've been searching in the bios trying to find some possible solution, I thought my psu was not supplying enough wattage, this doesn't seem to be the case, so then i thought maybe sometimes there is too little load on my psu. So I turned power loading on, did not help. One thing I am noticing is the problem is much more frequent with my second monitor (actually a tv ; Vizo m50e-1) plugged in. My problem most frequently occurs when i am rendering anime through madvr (usually when swapping to fullscreen mode on second monitor) though it also occurs when madvr isn't loaded. My problem nearly never occurs when playing video games. I have recently switched to windows 11, however this happened also on windows 10 (less frequent). I am starting to believe there may be a problem with my motherboard, I recall around a year ago hearing a capacitor hissing on my mobo, it used to annoy me. I don't hear the hiss anymore. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, thanks for reading <3

Built a computer for my god father recently, but it froze up a few times. Is it a CPU issue? There's no GPU it's a intel i5 12400

I just finished putting together my first build. Went to install windows, no drives. Keeps saying drivers are not installed. I go to check the ssd and hdd, both show up in the bios, but ssd is frozen. I've tried securely erasing the Ssd, but it reverts right back to frozen. What am I doing wrong? Please help me, I'm about to lose my mind.

Hi, So I built a new pc, it consists of a ryzen 3900x, geforce rtx 2070 super, Asus x570 plus (wifi) motherboard and a Corsair 650w gold PSU. The cooler is a dark pro 4, ram is 16gb, ssd 1tb and hdd 2 tb. I've checked that everything is is connected correctly and so on. Everything powers up, there's a signal and only thing that shows up is the tuf gaming screen, along with click f2 and del for the bios. The USB connections all work, as the keyboard lights up, phone charges, etc. But when I click f2 and del, as well as any other key, it does nothing, so I'm stuck in that screen. I'm really confused and would love any insight into what I have to correct and look at, as it isn't something that I can find a solution to online. As the PSU is fine, the graphics card works and I'm sure the CPU and motherboard is fine as everything powers up and operates. Just can't get into the bios, since keyboard doesn't work and can't download any OS due to the issue. Sorry about the hideous pics, the cable management has been terrible.

Alright so i made a thread about this long ago, it got help but it didnt resolve the issues ive been receiving. This has been happening for atleast 2 years since it was born and its just very frustrating, now i plan to upgrade to a better and different build this year. But who is gonna buy something broken, right? My issue is, this PC freezes up, requires full reboot, and it appears to be occurring under PUBG or Game Capture HD software load. It use to happen somewhat often before randomly, but lately its been only under PUBG or Game Capture HD software load. Both use GPU and RAM, one more then the other im sure. But i dont know what the actual culprit is. So, if you have any thoughts or fixes for this id really appreciate it, i dont have other components at this time to swap and test. (NOTE: Ive tried 4 different operating systems, its hardware related im sure) Build: Motherboard: EVGA 152-HW-E878-KR LGA 1150 Intel Z87 Classified CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K @ 4.0GHz GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 960 SuperSC ACX 2.0+ 2GB - Havent experienced issues under stress testing other then temps getting up there when the fans are at auto default PSU: Viotek Standard ATX 140MM Fan 850W Modular - PSU never cuts out, but actually lately my headset being plugged in to charge will shut down the whole system (PSU dying?) RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) 2133MHz (Serial: CMZ16GX3M2A2133C10) - Thought this originally to be the issue since it wasnt under their supported list, but thats due to not being tested vigorously SSD: Crucial M4 256GB SSD [Factory Recertified] - Cleared of Being Issue HDD: WL 3TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0GB/s 3.5" (Serial: WOL240293221) - Cleared of Being Issue I think and know the PSU is dying, so ill most likely be replacing that as its time i think. But, when the system does freeze the build still has power, never flickered, nor went out unless i shut it down manually to reboot it.

Hello, I am having extreme problems with my PC and I can't seem to fix them. It all started 2 days ago, my mouse started sticking. I thought that it was a bad mouse, so I switched it out for a different mouse but I still got the constant sticking. I thought nothing of it, even if both of those mice worked fine on a different computer. Now yesterday it got really bad. I use a software called OBS to stream games to Twitch.tv occasionally, and I was able to run games at a smooth 1080p60fps with no dropped frames. Now once this started, it drops 90% of my frames. I don't know why it does that. I recently bought a new 144hz monitor, and people have told me that the monitor is causing the problem, but it isn't. I tried OBS with my other monitor, which has worked flawlessly in the past half a year, and I dropped the same amount of frames. I don't know what is going on and I have literally tried everything for the past day straight and this is really frustrating me. Everything I've tried: -Checking Internet, fine as always. -Switching out RAM in case some were bad. -Ran Avast to check for viruses on the entire computer, nothing. -Ran Malwarebytes to check for malware on the entire computer, nothing. -Tried re-adjusting the GPU in case it got dislodged. -Updated my GPU Drivers, made the game run worse. -Re-installed mouse drivers, did nothing. -Stopped unnecessary background processes, didn't help. -Checked GPU and CPU temperatures, they were fine. -Ran sfc /scannow and it found nothing. -Ran Windows Memory Diagnostic, found nothing -Switched between my monitors and different Hertz As you can see I am not put up for any of this crap. At this point my mouse is so frozen I had to get a friend assist my mouse with Team Viewer because I cannot move my mouse at all. I really don't want to have to re-install my OS. I do not have money to spend right now. Hey guys, I wanted to be able to dual boot Ubuntu and Windows onto a Deskmini with a 3200G to use as a server and some other stuff. The ubuntu installation went pretty smoothly, but when I tried to install Windows through a USB drive, the installation froze midway when I tried to set WIFI settings. Since nothing would budge for around an hour, I rebooted my system. Now, I can't get into Windows 10 nor use the boot drive as both give me a blank screen. Is there something wrong with my computer or windows? I have tried reflashing the iso onto my flash drive and trying to reinstall Windows to no avail.

I have a msi RTX 2070 super gaming x trio I have tried this GPU with my previous motherboard x99 with a i7 5820k CPU and it did the same thing. I now have a brand new x570 asus prime motherboard with a ryzen 5 3600x with watercooler. Every time i start a game, after about 2 mins my screen goes black, disconnects, and all the fans in my system go max speed intill i power down the computer. I am pretty sure this is a GPU problem. I have messed with the afterburner for sometime, at some point it works on other games and then it doesn't. I can not boost the power limit more than 111% or temp more than 88C on afterburner, i tried to underclock the GPU and i tried to also boost the Voltage at stock Memory and Core settings,and it still crashes. At first when i kinda fixed it on my last computer i was boosted the power limit and then the power limit wouldn't be reached, YES THIS GPU REACHES THE POWER LIMIT ON STOCK SETTINGS. I have no idea why, but it does. This GPU requires an extra 4 pin connect FYI. It does the same thing on stock settings, its why i decided to try afterburner hoping it would fix the problem. I know these parts are only 4 months old, so i cant find any support on this. I can not play Call of Duty Currently. Would this be a pcu problem? I have an EVGA 850 Wattz Sometimes it goes a black screen and the sound and even my discord chat still works, when i can still talk to people. Othertimes, my fans go to max speed and the screen eother freezes or goes black. Even when i turn off my computer, my monitor still displays my frozen screen.

My system keeps freezing at the splash screen after initial install and going into final set up of windows 10. System specs -------------------- I5 9400f Asus rog strix z390-h 16gigs of DDR 4 2133 4x (4gig) 120gig SSD Rx480 4gig ----------------------- What I have done so far is updated the bios for the motherboard and ran Linux from USB. Linux boots up fine and works. Going to install an NVME 500gig and try the install on that. But if anyone has any other options I could use some help.

I’ve been having an issue with my second computer with it getting stuck on the asus logo post. This only occurs when I shut down my computer in any way. If it’s either in sleep mode, normal shutdown or restart, this would make the next time I see the brand of the Mobo which is Asus it would just get stuck there and I can’t get past it. I can not access the bios at all with this issue. The only thing I’ve seen to get passed this issue is literally not touching it and disconnecting it from power for 2-3 days and come back to it and I might be able to get passed where I normally get stuck on. It sometimes works if I take out the ram or the cmos battery. Otherwise I have no idea how to resolve this issue. I’ve had try to go barebones and removed everything but the CPU,Mobo,one hard drive and different sticks of ram trying one at a time to see maybe it’s some hardware and sadly same results. I’ve had these components replaced through RMA... PSU,RAM,CPU and Mobo. Which pretty much the whole system besides GPU and memory. Ive have tried on board graphics to see if it’s the GPU and disconnected the main hard drive but no luck.... am I missing something or did one of the parts I’ve RMA remain faulty? My rig ASUS Z170-E I5-6500 Skylake Quad-core G.Skill TridentZ RGB 32gb MSI GTX 1070 Samsung 850 EVO 500gb WD Black 2TB Corsair AX760 i have no idea what else to do 0_0 ..... thinking at this point just replace the SSD and see if it’s a memory issue. I recently refurbished an old Alienware X51 R2. I threw in a new 1 TB HDD with Windows 10 installed. Everything worked just fine. Brand new hard drive and OS. Today I tried to boot up the PC and the computer gets stuck at the boot screen. It shows the Alienware logo and the F2 and F12 options for Boot Setup/BIOS etc. and the loading bar but it never proceeds past this point. I cannot press F2 or F12. It will not proceed past this point no matter resets, power cycles, removing all devices from the PC... but last night it restarted multiple times with zero issues. I have had issues with this computer for years and years and years, but I was hoping this reset would fix that. Seems like it just brought about new issues. NOTE: I need to update the BIOS. Could that be the cause? If so, how can I update it while it is stuck at this screen? PLEASE HELP!

at the start of the week i had the power drop out twice in about 20 mins , the system was running Ubuntu 18.04 latest build as of monday-tuesday ill explain latter more why i dont have the exact kernal build i have installed . it now after anywhere between 8-12+ hours locks hard . i tried to do the alt f1-f3 thing it doesn't work and i cant ssh into the server when it does this only thing i can do is pull power or hold the power button in . when it does lockup i had the monitor GUI thing that ships with ubuntu by default and ram was at anywhere from 10-30% used and Swap was mostly at 10-50% @ under a gb by default size . a few times swap was at near full but this i saw when it was running fine anything that was doing anything it seemed to fill swap up , im used to centos for my Nas that touches ram then swap not swap then ram . i will note when i did reboot it after the power loss my fstab for my 8tb drive for storage on it wouldn't mount, its address had changed sdc1 to scb1 . my friend who is mainly linux said this was a issue or wasnt a good sign . since the kernal went into rescue mode . i should note this system was on a surge protector from cyberpower i think its on one i know that much . i didnt have it on any of my UPS's since atm im either at there max load or over them . i guess being cheap may bite me on my ass . i have a 1350, and two 1500 va PFC from cyberpower. soon will have it on one i guess the ubuntu 18.04 desktop system in question is supermicro cse-826 2u 12bay one if i put the wrong chassis in asrock Fatal1ty X370 Professional Gaming 1700x amd cpu stock low profile nocuta cooler 1k gold PSU only have 1 atm is redundant able. 1 tb sandisk ssd 8tb tobisaba NAS drive 8gb stick of ryzen approved ram = i paid 20% more then my normal sticks of ddr4 i buy at the moment i have it booted into the live cd/usb i used to install ubuntu as a test to see if i damaged either the MB/CPU/Ram/PSU . this is the best way to tell if i screwed up my Ubuntu install right ?. if it locks then i killed a piece of hardware. memtest came back fine only did a few passes thou. if i dont lockup then my OS is Messed up then right?. or my 8tb hdd Now for the question does anyone know or have a guide to do a install of 18.04 desktop without nuking the files in /user/home/ . all the ones i found were for older version of ubuntu . i rather not have to do a fresh install but want to fix this the right way . in about 12 hours from now , system has been on for 12 hours already , ill be booting into the 1tb drive to yank off my docker files and anything i need incase i need to format the OS disc this is if its not locked up when i check it . i did see it may be the GUI that is locking up but i was told i should still be able to SSH in if the GUI died or is bad in someway , the system was running fine for 2 weeks before this happened with no issues . so if you want me run any command in the terminal put them below and ill copy the output into a reply . im a novice a linux im mainly windows but i cant run what i need to on a windows machine even thur docker . before anyone asks all the log files in /var/log end exactly 5 mins before it locks up so there arnt any system logs sadly . i saw there is a bug or a issue with the 2nd gen ryzen cpu's on Ubuntu but since im running first gen i dont think it effects me . i know i ant giving much to go on i wish i had a log file that said this was the cause . (my centos rig has a kernel panic with External storage devices ,HBA/Raid cards the last few kernels) so i know roughly how to find it in the log file but timestamps make it real simple .

So I'm in a bit of a difficult situation here, I'm trying to reset Windows 10 Home on a HP laptop, but the problem is, I don't know how. The start menu won't open, it comes up with a dialogue saying Critical Error, please sign out so we can try to fix it, and of course that doesn't seem to work... and Action Center won't open... Is there any way I can get into the Windows 10 'Metro App' settings area through the run prompt? Any help appreciated

I recently got an old laptop from my parents that they hadn't used in a year or so. It is a Gateway ZA8 that was running Windows 8.1. I downloaded the kali2017.2 iso (the 64 bit one from the downloads page) and used unetbootin to boot the computer into kali. It seemed to work fine that way. Then, when I got home, I made a Bootable usb out of the same iso and began the graphical install of kali linux. Every part of the setup went smoothly, all the way up to the actual install on the 120gb ssd on the laptop. Then, I came back after dinner to find that the install seemed to be frozen. I will include a picture of the screen. The usb led had also stopped blinking, which it had been doing during the earlier parts of the install. I'm not sure if it is just taking a long time or if it's screwed up. It's been this way for about an hour. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have acer E1-572 and sometimes when i watch twitch my computer "frozes" and wont work until i reboot. If anyone has some idea whats going on i would like to know and this only happens with twitch.

I have a 2013 Scion TC Release series. It came with a pioneer bluetooth radio. Just recently it got stuck on a youtube song. This is a lot stranger than it sounds. The radio display says the last youtube video I watched on my phone (even if it was not connected to my phone). I can still play music through the radio, but I cannot skip songs or go back. If I try and skip or go back, the speakers make a short high pitch beep. I restarted my phone, disconnected from bluetooth, and deleted all phones on my radio. It still doesnt work. Anyone know what to do?
