  1. I watched Linus’s long range WiFi project and my house does not have fiber internet but my grandparents do have an option. So i thought about setting up a similar thing for myself. I live in India. The house distance is 6.13 km exactly. My questions are: a) How to figure out the direction to point the dish to b) What legal frequencies are there in India on which this communication can happen c) The relation between the LOS distance and frequency thanks
  2. Ok so this is a weird thing that's been happening for some days now, the thing is that my CPU for some weird reason always stays at max turbo frequency, this would not be big of a deal if it weren't by the fact that I already have to pay a massive electricity bill just for playing 4-6 hours a day all days, I've looked everywhere in the web to see why this was happening and most of the solutions didn't help. I already booted into safe mode and in safe mode it still keeps at it's max frequency, even in BIOS it shows me that the CPU is stuck at max frequency. I tried enabling all C states on the CPU and disabling them but nothing seems to work, I'm just out of ideas on what could be happening with this. Here is some information regarding my system : CPU: I5-8400 2.8Ghz. 3.8Ghz max turbo GPU: RX 580 8GB RAM: flashy 16GB Corsair modules MB: Gigabyte B360M DS3H (rev. 1.0) BIOS: F15 Also this started happening since I updated my BIOS to F15 (I had F5 before) and for some stupid reason the BIOS had an option turned on by default to install some Gigabyte programs by default, one of them was EasyTune and that program allows to change the CPU settings directly on Windows (Thing that I'm not comfortable of doing). After uninstalling those annoying programs I realized that the frequency got stuck. I don't know what to do at this point, it might be a setting on the BIOS but since I don't have unlocked CPU and MB I'm not able to tweak a lot of things. If anyone has any idea for stupid that it might be please let me know.
  3. Hello everyone. I've been watching Jayztwocents video on how to overclock a RAM , You just go to BIOS and change the xmp disabled to profile 1 and change the Frequency of the Memory. I own a 1x8GB HyperXFury DDR4 Single Channel setup but I'm so curious after I did that change on the speed It still says Memory Bandwith DDR4-2666 (1333MHz) on CPU-Z. Did I overclock it already? or I still need to do little more steps? lemme know here's the picture.
  4. System Specs: Lid-less PGA 2700X 3600mt/s B-Die Asus B450-I gaming Have a few video cards to play with. So to cut to the chace. I'd like to put my 2700X under a water block. The loop will have about 9c water Delta. This means I can achieve top boost clocks without changing much. My question is what the heck do I do with this set up???? What would YOU do with this setup? Is there something we can make of this thread? Perhaps work on Cpu and memory relationship? Would gaming be out of the question?? I have W7 operating system. Can do W10 also. Let me have some thoughts. I've had the rig boxed for a couple months now...... And I don't really "need" to set it up for anything. Hmm what to do. (Can't get LN2, the store front is closed yet until quarantine or w/e is lifted, so no super cold for me yet) Any particular requests? Edit: cleaning the bench off now. may set up tonight
  5. Why do I achieve only 3.9GHz with 3600 CPU? Does everyone get that kind of speed with amd's stock cooler? The max I can go is 4.05GHz and sometimes it may even crash, very rarely like in a week or so but it happens. Ik, change the cooler... But that's not the point here With "advanced mode" or gaming mode in bios for a better performance i still get only 3.9GHz. If I was to change cpu cooler, would i see an automatic bump in frequency? (thermal paste was added anew) 2nd thing. I noticed that I can not overclock my memory (RAM) to a higher frequency of 3200MHz unless I overclock CPU beforehand... unless CPU is 4.0GHz+, i can not do more than 3333MHz on Memory... so does a cpu frequency has anything to do with memory frequency? im using viper kit from patriot 3733MHz and asus tuf gaming b450 motherboard (i can go beyond 3733MHz, but only with 4.05GHz on CPU)
  6. Hi all, I just purchased a new PC and am wondering about RAM & XMP profile. I have Corsair vengeance RGB pro 3200mhz 16GB RAM and noticed it was only running at 2133mhz. After some research I turned on XMP profile to give me the full 3200mhz. When I turned it on, I got a BSOD not long after running it. My build is a 3900x, 2060 super and a gigabyte x570 aorus motherboard. I want to know if that is just coincidental and have another problem or it sounds linked. Also, is it a big performance difference without turning on the XMP profile? Thanks for any information you can share.
  7. Please help I was recently cleaning my laptop from dust and I removed heat sync and cleaned the fans then I assembled it again. Everything was looking fine until I turned on a game and it went something like 5s 70fps and then drop to 3 for 4s and again. I looked into it and saw that my CPU went from 3,5GHz to 0,7-0,8GHz. I don't know if I damaged anything. Before I cleaned my PC I was using undervolting and games ran fine but after I cleaned my pc it is a lot cooler but games run worse temp. before: 70-90C after: 40-55C. I have a laptop Acer Nitro 5 with: Intel Core i7 - 8750H 2x 8Gb ram both 2400MHz GTX 1060 6Gb VRAM
  8. Hello, i'm going to buy the ryzen 3 3200g and amd says that the System Memory Specification is 2933MHz. I want to buy the corsair 2x8gb vengeance lpx. I'm just not sure if I should buy the 3000MHz variant (because the system memory specification from the 3200g is 2933MHz and 3000 is close) or the 3200MHz (because ryzen loves memory). I don't even know if I buy the 3200MHz variant the ryzen 3 3200g could use more than 2933MHz and it was a waste of money. So my question is if the ryzen 3 3200g would make use of 3200 MHz or if it even works with xmp profile enabled. Should I buy the 3000 MHz or the 3200 MHz variant? Thank you https://www.amd.com/en/products/apu/amd-ryzen-3-3200g
  9. I recently upgraded my RAM amount, but after that i couldn't get Close to the old speeds. I had 2x8 GB Tryden Z RGB RAM which was Advertised with 3200Mhz CL16 and it was running fine. After i bought the same RAM kit again to get 32GB of RAM, i had to Run my RAM at 2733Mhz for it to be stable. I tried: Raising the SOC Voltage. Raising the RAM Voltage. Tried the RAM kits individually. Updated my BIOS. Specs: -Ryzen 7 2700x -X370 Gaming Pro Carbon -MSI Gaming X Trio 2080 Ti -Trident Z RGB DDR4-3200MHz CL16-18-18-38 1.35V 16GB (2x8GB) (2 times) Thanks for any Help
  10. Hi guys, I am a newbie with some months of study in PC building and was about to buy my rig with at least some confidence when there was one thing that greatly worried me... I didn't like bottlenecks and overclock, so what I did was matching the frequency of my CPU, RAM and MOBO: My CPU is Ryzen 5 3400G - System memory specification 2933MHz My MOBO is GIGABYTE B450 AORUS ELITE - Support for DDR4 3600(O.C.)/3466(O.C.)/3200(O.C.)/2933/2667/2400/2133 MHz memory modules My RAM is G.SKILL Trident Z - Bus 3000MHz All around 2933MHz, so I thought it was great until I realized that I could find NOONE on the Internet doing the same matching. Is my understanding about this frequency thing wrong? Should I match components this way? Please kindly help. Thank you!
  11. I've got corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C8R x2 Do i need to get the exact same type of ram corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C8R x2 Or i could get any type of ram which is 1600mhz and 8-8-8-24? Right now i got 2 of those mixed with samsung cl11 so its running 1600 at cl11. When i remove the samsung sticks i'm able to run xmp 1600mhz 8-8-8-24, otherwise its cl11 and 1600mhz at best. Except of color, is there any difference between CMZ8GX3M2A1600C8 and CMZ8GX3M2A1600C8R? What ram should i get? I want to run 16gb with xmp, at least cl8 1600mhz.
  12. Hi, I recently purchased myself some Patriot Viper BLACKOUT series 3200MHz memory (8x2). After many hours of troubleshooting, changing timings, frequency and whatnot, I can not POST when I run the XMP profile or any speed above 3000MHz on all of the timing configs that I've tried. I've updated the BIOS to the latest version and still, no luck. I have managed to run them at 2933MHz stable, it's just whenever I go anything higher than 3000MHz I just can't POST, and I've tried ridiculously loose timings, all to no end product, any help from someone more knowledgable about this stuff would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :) Full system specs: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Gigabyte Aorus B450 Elite 16GB Patriot Viper Blackout (hopefully?)3200MHz Gigabyte RX 580 Corsair TX650M Fractal Design Define R5
  13. Is it necessary to buy a high frequency memory for 3400g? I don't have a discrete graphics card and I think the memory speed would limit my intergrated gpu's performance.
  14. Hello every one. I have anoying issue to solve. I have AMD ryzen 7 2700x on Mortar Max b450 motherboard with Patriot Viper 4 2x8 3200mhz memory. When I try enable xmp profile for 2933 or 3200 MHz, computer don't want boot and It's retuns to 2133 MHz. I have the newest bios and i tryied changing dram voltage but this didn't work. Now I'm using this ram with 2800 MHz frequency
  15. Hello, I have i7 9700 that as per intel it support only upto 2666mhz ram speed, if i get ram that runs at higher frequency eg 3000mhz, will it run at that speed or only 2666mhz? thanks.
  16. Hi, I need the community help to address or understand an issue that I got with my Memory Ram, The thing is that I made a ryzen 2700x build with a b450f gaming asus motherboard and 8x2 gb ram (16gb) gskil tridentz ( model F4-2933C16D-16GTZRX) 2933 frequency. Here is where the issue comes, I wanted to upgrade to 32 gb, of ram, so I looked up for the same model that I already had, and where $100 more expensive, however the 3200 frequency model (F4-3200C16D-16GTZRX), where a $150 less expensive, so I made my research, and It look like it can work, the problem was that If I want the ram running at high speed than the lower base clock module, I would have to xmp. So I bought the 3200 version, and plug it in the motherboard, the 3200 in dual channel, and the 2933 in dual channel, and ask the motherboard throught the BIOS to run them at 3000, thinking, not to high and not to low, however, it couldnt and it restart with default propeties (1866), and they run like a charm, so I start testing frequencies, and the higher they can get is 2800 without no issues, higher thant that, the motherboard cant start so it reset back to default again. So my question is, is this normal? and if it is, can someone explain me why they cant get higher then 2800? or, am I doing something wrong and they should be running with no issues at higher speeds? Thanks. looking forward for the community help.

Brand new) Kingston Hyper-X KHX1600C9D3K2/4GX 4GB ------> 8GB Western Digital 500gigs BLACK 32mo WD5001AALS Kingston Digital A400 SSD 240GB ULTRA LifeTime Series Pro 650W 135MM FAN I know my system will bottleneck the gpu. But the question is how much ? According to this video, The card will be bottleneck but it won't be that bad if the cpu is overclock to 3.7 ghz. What you think ? "Will an i5 750 Bottleneck a GTX 1080? - 1080p, 1440p, 4K Benchmarks" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TScpVAGNdcI Wich RAM should I get ? They are selling for about 30-35$ can, used G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) https://www.newegg.ca/g-skill-8gb-240-pin-ddr3-sdram/p/N82E16820231314 Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB Single DDR3 1333 MT/s (PC3-10600) CL9 @1.5V https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Ballistix-PC3-10600-240-Pin-BLS4G3D1339DS1S00/dp/B007MCQ800?th=1 G.Skill XL Series RipJaws X Series 8 Go (kit 2x 4 Go) DDR3 1600 MHz https://www.ldlc.com/fiche/PB00109903.html CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 https://www.newegg.ca/corsair-8gb-240-pin-ddr3-sdram/p/N82E16820145345 Right now, My hyperx 1600 are limited to 1333 in the bios. When I enable XMP I get "the system has experienced boot issues because of overclocking or changes of voltages" in the BIOS. I guess it's because my mobo is rated for 1.5v and my ram 1.65v ? Advices for cpu overclock. I'm new to cpu overclock. To get to 3,4 ghz I changed these values. Base Clock Control from Disabled to Enabled. BCLK Frequency from 133 to 170. Intel Turbo Boost from Auto to Disabled. CPU EIST from Auto to Enabled. It's seems fine right now , I will need to stress test it to make sure it will not crash. Is there anything else I need to know about cpu overclock ? Thank you
  20. My uncle has an ideapad 700-15ISK which currently has 8Gb of 1,6Ghz ddr4. He would like to upgrade this to 16 Gb. However i can't find any 16 Gb sodimm sticks at 1,6Ghz. Will it be a problem if i install something with a higher frequency?
  21. Currently I have an opportunity to have 64 CPU cores running at ~2 GHz Is there some software or computer magic that emulates 64@2.0 to perhaps 16@8.0 (theoretically speaking, yield would be less)? It's essentially the same number of clock cycles, just reoriented. Programs use a set number of cores, so why not virtually redefine the core? I'd be running a few programs and games that would never consume 64 cores and much power would be wasted. This would reduce the number of cores not being used while boosting performance on programs using the "emulated" cores It should be more power efficient than if we had real 16@8GHz, right?
  22. G.Skill Flare X 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR4 3200Mhz is $350AUD whilst the G.Skill Ripjaws V 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR4 3200MHz Memory is $250AUD Is paying extra worth any of the performance gains or is this straight up robbery? Also should I opt for 16gb 3600mhz RAM ($370AUD) for my Ryzen CPU instead of 3200mhz or not worth it either?
  23. Fairly new to overclocking but I was able to get my 8700k up to 5.0GHz on my MSI Z370 Gaming M5 motherboard. It might go further but that’s plenty fast for me plus the BIOS seemingly automatically upped the vcore to 1.392v when I set the multiplier to 50 which it didn’t warn me about at all and I didn’t even discover until I went back into the bios days later. My 2 questions are: 1.392 seems unnecessarily high even if it is watercooled, and 2 is it possible to make it behave like it did out of the box where it idles at 3.7GHz and a significantly lower voltage but turbos up to 5, because even when I set the turbo multiplier to 50 it still idles at 5GHz on the desktop with just hardware monitor open and very minimal background processes.
  24. Chart: http://i.imgur.com/D4JWHOq.png Coverage: - 800-4500 Mhz (29 speeds) - 7-21 CAS Latency There's a large range of numbers, what's a good response time to look for? Typically anything below 14 is a decent speed. 12-14 is about average for today's standards. Anything near 10-11 or lower is very good. Anything under 10 is phenomenal. You should probably avoid anything above 14. This chart combines the frequency and CL combinations of practically all semi-modern to modern memory modules into a single raw performance number. This number alone doesn't mean much, but it means the world in a relative scenario like the graph above. This graph is useful if you want to compare several memory modules of different frequencies and latencies to find out which is fastest. Sometimes the faster module turns out having a lesser frequency than what you compared it against thus saving you a few monies. It could also be used in the high-end to determine which memory module will have the best performance if you're looking for the best you can get. As an example, let's say you wanted to compare the Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB 2133 CL14 against the G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 8GB 2400 CL16 memory modules to see which performs better (frequency and CL go hand-in-hand to determine memory performance). The Kingston stick has a worse frequency, but better CL timings while the Ripjaws stick has a higher frequency and worse CL timings. Without a graph like this, it's hard to tell which would actually perform better and you'd probably just assume it's the one with the higher frequency. Visiting the graph, the Kingston stick has a response time of 13.13 and the Ripjaws stick has a response time of 13.33. So, if you assumed the higher frequency module was faster, you were wrong; the Kingston module is slightly faster even though its frequency is less. That's solid evidence that frequency isn't everything and I hope this example showed you the usefulness of this graph. This was a modest result and you can definitely see more significant results here, but nonetheless, you just got better performance for less money by using the graph to make an educated pick. Hopefully this will save you some money while getting you better RAM performance at the same time. Depending on your hardware, it has been shown that faster RAM can get you more FPS in-game, mainly with integrated graphics or high-end hardware where your memory will likely be the weakest link. This doesn't mean you won't see more performance with mid-tier hardware, but it likely won't be as significant. Video: (this is an update of ThioJoeTech's list, so most of the credit goes to him) If for whatever reason your RAM speeds don't line up on the graph, you can use this formula to calculate the number: "1/(REAL FREQUENCY)1000(CL)=RESPONSE TIME" The real frequency is a module's rated speed divided by two. See second row of graph. Download Excel spreadsheet:
  25. My build: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/PLwJm8 I am running Memtest86 5.01. One of the lines says My RAM has a frequency of 1866. But I am curious as to whether it has made an error and thinks my RAM sticks have a frequency of 933. Is this how RAM frequency always works? That the advertised frequency is just the frequency of both sticks added together? So two sticks of 1600Mhz are in fact 800 each?
