Hi LTT, Recently I have become less than satisfied with my Logitech G533 headset. Uncomfortable after longer sessions (even after replacing the earpads with better ones), and the lack of ANC are 2 of my biggest problems. This has me switching to my "mobile" headset half the time, but since that one is only Bluetooth, it's not the greatest for gaming on my desktop. Therefore, since the G533 is probably the weakest point in my peripheral setup, I decided to look for a no compromises replacement. However, finding what I'm looking for is a challenge, so I want to know if what I'd like to use even exists. See requirements details below: Connectivity: Must be wireless via 2.4 ghz or its own dongle. Bluetooth option would be nice, as would 3.5mm jack, but since the primary use case is connected to the gaming tower, this is the way. Battery Life: 20 hours. I have to get at least a day and then some if I forget to charge it overnight. I don't mind turning off RGB lighting to get this. I prefer USB-C charging and don't have space for a dock, but I can suffer with micro-B Microphone: has to have once, has to be at least decent, as I will stream voice with this headset. I prefer folding boom (the auto-mute for the Logitech G533 is really nice, but I'll take a mute button as well) Sound Quality: I'm no audiophile, but I don't want this to be garbage either. This can be in the "good enough" territory ANC: I need active noise cancellation. This the feature that I'm trying to find on a headset, and my G533 lets in too much outside sound. Media Controls: Needs to at least have volume and a way to mute on the headset itself. I would very much like play/pause and skip track as well, but ultimately it wouldn't be a deal breaker if they weren't there. Build: Obviously these need to be over-ear, decently well built, and comfortable. I don't plan on throwing them during an RQ or traveling with the, but durability (and foldability) are certainly a bonus. Brand: Not really picky at this point. I've used Plantronics, Corsair, and Logitech all in the past. Price: I really don't care here. This is a no-compromises, daily-driver, not-buy-another-headset-for-at-least-5-years type of decision. If it has this feature set and costs +$500, I'll save for it. Thank you in advance! Let me know if you all have questions or if I missed something. Looking forward to your recommendations. Options looked at so far: Logitech's Pro X is close, but is missing the ANC. Also limited on controls and connectivity options, and I'm not the biggest fan of the detachable mic (prefer folding or integrated) HyperX Cloud Flight S is also close, but I'm not sure about the build quality (never used them). Again, I'm not the biggest fan of the detachable mic (prefer folding or integrated). Also out of stock RIP

So, I'm trying to figure out how to get more advanced and granular control over autoplay on windows such that when I plug in a specific device I can run a script, a macro, or generally do something more then just sync my phone's photos with my desktop in one of two file locations. In particular, I want to be able to sync up arbitrary files (mostly to sync files from a specific folder on my android phone with file names in a specific range/structure) to my computer in an arbitrarily selected folder and to do so every time that a particular device that I have is plugged into my desktop. Anyone have experience with this?

Dear reader, After Windows decided to promptly bluescreen and feature-update my system; inside working hours; unannounced with no warning; while I was actively using the system, I am looking into options to take over manual control over their ridiculous updating policy and practices. Furthermore, I do not wish to partake in the Russian roulette that is "Will this update brick my system+data or not?" I had thought that using Debotnet scripts would work (ran scripts in both user and administrator privileges), but it apparently didn't. I am using Windows 10 Pro N, version 1809. My setting is on a delay on feature updates for 365 days. I have found several methods and software (some links may contain the same), but I am not certain if they still work or not. Most seem not really updated on their effect (e.g., updates stop at ±2018): (1) https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1133684-stopping-windows-from-auto-updating/?tab=comments#comment-13122271 (accompanying software): https://winaero.com/comment.php?comment.news.1836 (2) https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/954195-ten-different-ways-to-stop-block-or-disable-windows-update-in-windows-10-updated-sept-2018/?tab=comments#comment-11593102 (3) https://www.wintips.org/how-to-turn-off-windows-10-updates-permanently/#part-2 (4) https://www.mirinsoft.com/ms-apps/debotnet Do any of you have experience with any of the aforementioned methods, either in comments or the described ones, or perhaps can provide one that I did not list here? What would work best? Cheers, JB

So today I realized I can no longer hit the windows button and just start typing to quickly find something im looking for. I'm unbelievably annoyed. I tried looking up a fix and all I find is how to enable to Cortana TASKBAR search box. This is not what I'm aiming for. I want the search feature that is included in the windows menu. I would really appreciate any advice that will point me in the right direction. For example does the windows button menu have a specific name that I'm blanking on? I imagine this alone would improve my search results. Thanks guys Inadaizz

I recently got a Google Home Mini for my dorm room and I was setting up my daily news stuffs when I realized that it would be very nice to get my YouTube news on there all at once. So, I went over to Google Podcasts and found that Philip Defranco is already on there and up to date as well as the WAN show, but TechLinked only has the first episode ever. Would it be possible to get the TechLinked podcast page kept up to date?

An idea for a new sub forum : Tech scams We all get bombarded by lots of them everyday usually. and they seem to have lots of new ways to jebait people other than the good old 'Nigerian scam'. just finished reading a book about the scammers and how they operate. apparently they work in groups and they share all their assets together lots of them based out of southern Africa. so why not do the same, and start our own little sub forum where we disscus what methods they use. and we all will become a little more educated about the scams

feature request for floatplane, ability to put publicly viewable single video embeddable player into an external site. the end of the single video would end with a continue watching on floatplane, which leads to a simple explanation of why to subscribe, to bring in viewers that otherwise wouldnt know about about floatplane. trading off bandwidth consumption for subscriber recruitment.

I am looking for a screen that supports split screen from multiple inputs. I really like the way the 43UD79-B that Linus reviewed handles this, but I'm not sure I want to game in 4k, so I was wondering if there are high refresh rate monitors that have similar features out there, maybe something in 1440? I do have a EVGA 1080ti FTW3 hybrid and i7 6850k, so technically i can push (most of) the frames for 4k, but with the recent vid on gaming higher refresh over 4k, especially given the pixel density at desk distance with the 43" monitor, I'm not thinking the 43UD79-B will make for a great 4k gaming experience. The reason I like the screen split is because I tinker with raspberry pi and have a work laptop i'd like to be able to use in conjunction with Synergy.

So I find it strange that folder icons are always circles, even if you make your icons another shape using the adaptive icons. So I created this feature request to the android team to make folder icons adaptive as well. It would help show them that we want this feature if you could star it. https://issuetracker.google.com/u/0/issues/74352590

floatplane [Floatplane] Just registered, suggestions so far
mavu posted a topic in Forum Suggestions
Hi I just registered at Floatplane, because I think its a great Idea and you seem to have the expertise to pull it off. Looks good so far. Nice fast and snappy experience. Some things I would like to see: - Add a thing somewhere (doesn't need to be prominent) to give feedback for the site. - Add the J,K,L keys as shortcuts for Back,Play/Pause,Forward like in Youtube. Homerow, vim, typing etc. its just more convenient If you are used to put your hands there. (F already works for Fullscreen, the other would be nice to also have.) - Auto quality adjust would be nice, but not neccessary. - I really hope you can get more people on board and [takeoff joke here] -
I just installed this latest update and I happened to notice that the search function in the settings menu doesn't work. Anybody else have this issue? Or some other problem? I also remembered that sometimes these updates can change privacy settings without notifying the user and turns out it did this time. I use Spybot Anti-Beacon to block Windows 10 telemetry and I had everything blocked. After the update, "Consumer Experience Improvement Program" was turned back on. Just letting you all know if anyone is interested. I simply blocked everything again, so no problem but its still a little sneaky in my opinion.

Hey, in school we need to create a short news feature with the theme "Things you can't see". We wanted to make our feature about game development but the developer we wanted to work with unfortunately turned us down. Now we are looking for alternative suggestions what to make our feature about. Maybe you guys can help me/us out with some suggestions Our thought was to show the huge effort connected with developing a game therefore the assigment would be fulfilled. But maybe we can get an even better theme with your help! Thanks for your help in advance!

Versions Windows 10 Version 1511 (Build 10586.71) Chrome Version 48.0.2564.97 m Bug Description Pressing CTRL+L in the post editor no longer pops up a box to create a link. Severity Minor Steps to Reproduce Create a new post or open a reply to another thread Type out the text you want to turn into a link Highlight the text and press CTRL+L Actual Behavior Web browser URL bar becomes selected and highlighted, ready for typing. Please note that I'm aware this is a default functionality of modern web browsers - I still want the ability to hook CTRL+L on the forums. Expected Behavior Expectation was to have a link paste box model open as an overlay on-screen, like the old forum version had. Troubleshooting/Testing Steps Attempted Performed a Google search on IP.Board's forums for any relevant information regarding the CTRL+L functionality. No dice. Workaround None found. Featured was probably removed in the "upgrade" by Invision Power Services.

So I've been a lot more active here lately, and I've come up with a few good ideas for new forum features. I'm curious to see what other people of this community have to say in regards both to my idea and to new suggestions as well. I hope staff also notice this and maybe take heed to some of these, if they are deemed worthy of the site My idea is the ability to close a thread that you have started, or be able to flag a post on your own thread and have it immediately brought to a moderator's attention. That way you sort of have the ability to moderate your own threads. What do you guys think?

Well of course the title was ironic. Will i feel the HUGEEEEEEE difference if i game on 1920 instead of 4k ? I watched tons of videos and its obviously 4k have more details, picture quality, clean, cool .... etc. etc. But the big question is are you really feeling all this on action. While playing games. And one more question : Is it worth playing games on 4k with under 60FPS or its better playing 1920p with 100+ FPS Edit: And is it worth having the chace to playon 4k medium settings isnted of 1920 ultra ? Edit2: Also what you think is better choose 1440p or 4k

hello, so my ZyXel P8702N has a NAS feature that allows me to just connect a drive to the router via USB and share files using it. i have run into some issues trying to set specific directories for my family to use- i.e. i am unable to set specific directories to allow only a certain user to access i was able to set the main directory and have my user only be able to access it, but when i tried using a different one (\\10.0.0.138\usb1_1\Johannes i even tried .\Johannes), but when i click add it just removes all shared directories from the list. any help would be appreciated EDIT: when i use the "choose directory" button i only see the root as an option EDITEDIT: the router is stupid, it still adds the directories, but the list is bugged

My budget is about 800-850 euros and this is what i am thinking of buying: AMD FX 8350 Gigabyte GA 990FX UD3 Rev 3.0 Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz Powercolor Radeon HD 7870 Myst edition XFX 650W Core Edition Corsair Carbide 300R Also i need to buy a monitor which means -110 euros for the rig itself.
