Hello, I have been experiencing problem with my laptop windows 11 animations while using an external monitor. First Id like to post specs of my laptop: Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 (GU603HM) 2021 - 3060 dgpu - 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11800H - 16gb ram - Windows 11 64bits (reinstalled Two months ago) - BIOS (i dont know the version but Ive updated it to the newest which was given to me by asus support) etc. The external monitor is BenQ BL 2480 (60hz), the laptop screen has 144hz screen though (is it a problem in this case?) The problem By the animations I mean mostly the window maximalisation and minimalisation. When using just the laptop everything works just fine, everything is smooth etc. But whith the monitor connected every animation starts to feel laggy (I tried different monitors, different cables but with the same result). When I plug the monitor to dgpu port some of the problems go away the animations are smoother but when having a window opened on full screen (like a chrome not a game) the animation is smooth until the last second where it bugs out (so far probably the best result but still annoying). What Ive tried I tried contacting asus support, I updated Bios drivers, GPU drivers tried different monitors but with no result. I tried buing a thuderbolt display port cable which also didnt solve the problem. To be honest I dont think this might be a hardware issue because the result is the same with monitor plugged in via hdmii port, usb c port or usb c dgpu port. To be honest Its pretty annoying and as a result I most of the time use only the laptop monitor what makes often my work bit harder. I also tried reinstalling the whole windows with no result. I figured out that in this case the performance of the laptop might not play a role (the task manager doesnt show any signs of throttling). Possible problems I ve found out that the problem source might be comming from a nvidia optimus or the fact that when dgpu is running it has to push everything through igpu (I have no idea how does it work) and that my laptop doesnt have a mux switch (which would enable switching between dgpu and igpu and not having them connected). The reasoning behind this is when I use the dgpu port animations on both screens are smoother (until the last moment as mentioned earlier). Other idea I have is the different refresh rates of the monitor and integrated screen. Well thats everything Ive got. Thank you for any ideas how to fix it :))).

Laptop specs: ASUS ROG GL553VD Intel Core i7-7700hq 2.8ghz Intel Graphics 630 GTX 1050 4GB 8GB RAM Monitor: ACER NITRO XV240YP 23.8 inches 144hz Hey, i'm hoping if anyone has a fix for this. Whenever I try running other games at different resolution for example csgo, 4:3 1280x960. My monitor refresh rate drops from 120hz to 60hz. It seems that my monitor can only run 120hz on 1920x1080. I am using a laptop with the monitor as the main display with a HDMI cable as my laptop does not have other ports other than this. I quite like playing on 4:3 and im hoping if anyone has the same problem or fixes for this as running the game on 1920x1080 120hz kinda sucks cause my laptop cant output enough fps for the 120hz and sometimes it feels weird playing it.

Constant micro stutters on external monitor
SamAsYou posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
Hi all. So I got a Zenbook pro duo UX581GV (1.5 year old) with an RTX2060 and an Intel UHD 630 and Iv been losing my mind trying to figure first if Im not imagining the constant micro stutters on every video and then trying to troubleshoot them. Its micro stutters everywhere, nothing helps, and I get it when connecting to an exterior monitor through every way possible, to different extents. I tried connecting it through HDMI so its connected straight to the 2060. I tried it through the USB C port with a hub and HDMI. I tried connecting a powered hub via USB 3, a Dell dock with DisplayLink port via HDMI and DP. Every one of these has different degrees of stutter in different apps, if its working okay on youtube then Netflix app stutters more, if its working well in Netflix on a different port, its stuttering with a different app. My 4 years old surface pro plays two videos simultaneously smoother than this thing that's brand new and supposed to be a beast. And, I, of course, updated drivers updated windows, reset windows, upgraded to windows 11, tried with or without GPU acceleration in windows graphic settings and chromes/edge settings. I learned after a while that its a long-standing issue that was reported in Nvidia forums 4 plus years ago, apparently Laptops with both Nvidia card and the Intel GPU unit together has this "small" "quirk" where if you connect an external display you get stutter city in videos and mouse movement and window dragging etc.. After reading that thread I tried more things, I tried various advanced power options, disabling fast reboot, disabling and enabling the intel 630 adapter, shutting down DWM.exe. A good permanent option people found is disabling the intel adapter from bios as a workaround, but that isn't an option for me with the Duo laptop because of that 2nd monitor that is built-in. I threw everything suggested at this problem, something helped, Im not sure what, but its somewhat better than before (or maybe that's a placebo effect.. IDK.. I'm losing it), but its definitely still an issue. It is baffling to me how premium products that cost us thousands of dollars can have an issue as major as this just ignored for years. I also suspect it this has something to do with why I don't use my laptop set on its native 4k res, because I experienced all those issues on day 1 just from the fact that I already have an external monitor permanently connected. I wish someone in the LTT crew catch a glimpse of this and see its history of a 5 year long ass thread: Laptop 1070 External Monitor Stutter | NVIDIA GeForce Forums and maybe do a video or something about this, I never knew this can be a thing in laptops, and its a basic functionality so people should know. And also that might put some pressure on idk.. MS? Nvidia? Intel? to do something. -
Hello there! I'm currently in the market to purchase an external monitor for my laptop, and I'm quite stuck on where to start. As stated in the title, I'm trying to look for a high refresh rate, 1440p monitor with good color accuracy, and my intended use with this monitor is to do some casual gaming and light/ moderate video editing. I thought 1440p and high refresh rate would be a good sweet spot because I believe the pixel density is tight enough to give good video quality, but that it isn't too much for my laptop to handle. Plus, since I'm just editing videos for myself, I'd at least like to go one step above 1440p. Some things to note: First, my laptop specs: Dell XPS 17 9700 i9-10885H (8 cores, 16 threads, boosts to 5.3 GHz) NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q (6 GB video memory) 32 GB Memory (2933 MHz) 1 TB SSD 1920*1200p, 60 Hz internal display I've heard that I wouldn't be able to get full benefits running of using a high-refresh rate 1440p monitor while playing games because I only have a 2060 Max-Q (and, well, because all my other components are laptop-grade), though most of the games I play aren't too demanding i.e. ... Minecraft Batman Arkham-series (2009-2015) Forza Horizon 5 Resident Evil Village Plus, I suspect I'll be purchasing a new laptop within the next couple years, and by then I predict it'll definitely be able to handle 1440p, high refresh rate gaming. i.e., I plan to keep the monitor for a couple years I've posted about external monitors for my laptop a couple times on LTT forums, though each time I found myself too busy to actually go buy the monitor. Now, though, I feel I finally have some time to buy a monitor and properly invest into some research and opinions. I should also mention that in my past postings, people have recommended me LG Ultragear monitors. I've been very tempted to hit the trigger on these monitors, though I'm not so sure if it's 98% DCI-P3 color accuracy will satisfy my wants for video editing. On top of this, I don't believe these monitors are necessarily bright, since they come in at only 350 nits peak brightness (at least, for the ones I've seen). My laptop's internal display has a 500 nit peak brightness, and when my room gets bright, it can, at times, be a slightly dim. Though, I'm not so sure if this wouldn't make much of a difference considering an external monitor will be noticeably bigger, so if someone could clarify this for me, too, that'd be great. Otherwise, please let me know what monitor you folks would recommend me, given my laptop's specs and my needs. Should I pull the trigger on the LG Ultragear monitors, or should I choose something else?

Hey so I am planning on getting GE76 Raider 11UH 11th Gen. Intel® Core™ i9 Processor 17.3" UHD (3840x2160), 120Hz, IPS-Level NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3080 Laptop GPU 8GB GDDR6 Ram 64GB Since the panel is 4k 120hz, i know it will be great for watching content..however i really want a 2k display with 240hz for gaming... So if I connect the ASUS ROG Strix 27” 2K HDR Gaming Monitor (XG27AQM) - WQHD (2560 x 1440), Fast IPS, 270Hz, 0.5ms, Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync, G-SYNC Compatible, DisplayHDR 400, Eye Care, DisplayPort, HDMI, USB 3.0 MAIN MONITOR to this laptop, will I be able to game at the higher refresh rate and 2k display?

Hey everyone, My work laptop (Thinpad e495) has a R5 3500U Vega 8 and I'd like to use 2 external monitors with it. I'm already using one external 1080p via the hdmi port and, since I have a USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 1 (with PD and DisplayPort), my plan was to buy another 1080p usb-c monitor with power delivery like the Dell P2419HC (because the only usb-c port is also the charging port). But after some research, I found some spec documents about the model saying "Supports up to 2 independent displays via native display and 1 external monitor; supports external monitor via HDMI® (up to 3840x2160@30Hz) or USB-C (up to 3840x2160@60Hz)". I also found some people telling it should support up to 3 independent displays and not 2. I don't intend to use the laptop screen because it'll be closed, but I don't know it still counts to the limitation even if not in use. Either way, anyone knows the actual external monitor limit for this model? Thank you!

Hi everyone, I recently just bought an external monitor to be use mainly for gaming since my laptop's display is only capable of displaying content at 60 Hz. The monitor is capable of running at 165 Hz and I have change the settings on windows settings to let it run at it max refresh rates. I even doublechecked on the monitor's OSD that it is indeed running at 165 Hz in desktop. However, when I'm playing games the fps seems to be capped at 60 Hz on the monitor when I take a peek at the OSD even though my laptop is capable of delivering higher refresh rates. I also can't find the monitor settings on NVIDIA Control Panel for some reason and the display adapter in windows settings for the monitor is only connected to the integrated graphics. I have looked at several forums but I'm getting mixed answers. Is there a way to free the frames?

Can my Laptop (Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14ALC6) support a 1440p Monitor as an external monitor? I was hoping to get either a 24' - 27' monitor, but I'm not not sure if my laptop can support it. is it safer to stick with 1080p instead? here's my laptops specs : AMD Ryzen 5 5500U with Radeon Graphics 2.10 GHz Thanks!!!

Hello there, I believe I've posted about my inquiries and questions about displays in the past, though after spending a summer semester at my University, I feel like I've become even more lost than I was before when choosing a monitor. I can remember going from liking LG's 27" and 34"+ gaming monitors, to Dell's recent 34" widescreen "work-from-home-solution" monitor (https://www.dell.com/en-us/member/shop/dell-34-curved-monitor-s3422dw/apd/210-axns/monitors-monitor-accessories), and even thinking about getting a TV, especially knowing that I'll be the type of person to watch movies with my roommate or my friends. So, I need some help and some opinions on what I should do. First, I'd like to mention my computer that I'm packing: a Dell XPS 17 9700, equipped with an i9-10885H (8 cores, 5.3 GHz), 32 GB memory, 1 TB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q, and the base 1920*1200p internal display. I bought this laptop since I'll be studying Mechanical Engineering, and with the Engineering program I took over the summer, this computer was very effective at doing SolidWorks stuff, and rendering my final projects and parts. In addition - and even know Dell just came out with the 9710 with RTX 3060 GPUs (I got this 2 months before it came out ) - I wanted this thing to last me my fours years of undergraduate, I still wanted a big internal display, though I didn't want to be carrying a bulky gaming laptop going from class to class. Knowing that my laptop's display is already 1080p (or, 1200p for 16:10 aspect ratio) and is on a small screen, I believe going 1440p/ QHD would be a good option for me to experience good image quality without going over the top (i.e., I don't think I could benefit from 4K, especially since I won't be doing photo/ video editing). I've recently been out to my local big box stores (i.e., Best Buy) and took a look at a friend's 1080p, 27" HP monitor - ~1+ year old - and I felt that at a healthy viewing distance, I felt that the viewing experience wasn't too nice. Otherwise, I also want to give some stories/ experiences of what I've seen in college thus far. My first one is a little crazy (at least to me), because this guy had a baaallin' gaming tower and a 4K, 144Hz monitor. I mean, this person had an NVIDIA RTX 3090, 128 GB memory, a very high-spec Ryzen 5000 CPU (I forget which one) - definitely ready for 4K Max gaming at 80-90+ FPS. Like, we were running Cyberpunk 2077 at 80 FPS on 4K Max settings . My friend let me play the Resident Evil 2 Remake on 4K, near max settings and we were getting 100-110 FPS, and it felt amaaaaazing. What I got from this experience was (a) pretty damn good image quality since it was a 4K IPS display, and experiencing high frame rate gaming (at least, high frames for me) on AAA titles. Like I said, playing Resident Evil 2 at over 100 FPS felt so amazing to me, especially coming from playing Resident Evil 8 on my XPS 17 on 1200p high settings at ~60 FPS, and prior to this, playing all my games on a PS4. As I stated before, too, viewing the 1080p displays in store and at my friend's place, I feel like 1080p won't suffice, so I'd say that 1440p/ QHD is a must. Then, there was the time my friends and I watched a movie in our friends' dorm. I'm not certain what particular TV it was, or other stuff like it's pixel count, panel type, refresh rate, etc., though I believe it was around 48-50" in size and likely 60 Hz, as most TV's seem to be. What I loved so much about this TV was that generally, it's sooo big, and well, I'm a sucker for a big TV or display. In addition, and something more deep, I'd say I'm more extroverted than introverted, in that I get energized from doing things with people/ being in a social environment, rather than getting energized from being by myself or in a smaller group. More so, if I'm by myself for a day, no matter if I'm stuck in my dorm all day or even if I'm out and about, if I'm by myself without my friends/ acquaintances, I'll start feeling anxious/ depressed/ what have you (i.e., I feel like crap). Then again, I'm sure I could take one of the TV's in one of my residence hall's multiple lounges, but that memory watching movies with my friends will stick in my head for a long time because I felt so happy. So, what I'm getting from this is that I could benefit from a bigger monitor or a TV for watching movies/ entertainment. Then, my final story is from when I was more invested in my monitor search. If I recall correctly, I may have posted another topic about monitors, and folks really recommended me LG's selection of gaming monitors. I forget which of these they specifically recommended, though the attainable ones are mostly in either 34" widescreen or 27" versions, and were 1440p, 144 Hz. More recently though, I was intrigued by this Dell monitor (https://www.dell.com/en-us/member/shop/dell-34-curved-monitor-s3422dw/apd/210-axns/monitors-monitor-accessories same one from before) considering that it was 100 Hz - still high refresh rate - was 34" widescreen, and QHD. The only problem I seem to notice with this monitor is that it's a VA panel, and compared to IPS panels, I know that VA's will give worse viewing angles, though I've also heard that they have better contrast ratios (i.e., better blacks/ colors). So, my concern with this is (a), is this Dell monitor a good option and (b), what type of panel technology would suit me best (VA, IPS, OLED, etc.). So, knowing my concerns/ needs - needs to be 1440p/ QHD, if I should have a big display (i.e., is it necessary to have a big TV, though I'd still like to have something bigger than a typical 27" monitor, however I'm not sure if 27" might actually be a good fit for me), what kind of panel technology I should look for, my gaming concerns (i.e., come from pretty average-quality, casual, single-player AAA gaming and would like an upgrade both in frame rates and image quality - both in color and increase pixel count/ density), and my "social" concerns (if I want to have friends over to watch movies - again, TV's are provided in the Residence Halls' lounges, including private rooms) - I'd like to hear your folks opinions/ insight, especially from those who are currently in college - preferably sophomore/ juniors/ seniors - who just got out of college, of who've just been to college in general. One more thing I'd like to mention, I don't really have a budget right now, though I think I'd be fine spending $800+ on a monitor/ TV, though please include anything above this budget that seems reasonable, and also consider if I can get something similar on the used market to save a buck or two. If any of you folks are able to give a thorough opinion/ insight/ consideration, I'd be very, very appreciated because I feel completely lost in the world of monitors.

Hello there, I’m in the market for an ultra-wide 1440p monitor for my college dorm. I’m an Engineering student, so I have a powerful laptop (Dell XPS 17) that can handle a 1440p monitor, and I’d like to purchase an ultra wide so I can have multiple applications open when I work, and to have a premium gaming experience when I have some free time. I’d say my budget for a monitor is somewhere in the $650-$800 range, though don’t be afraid to show anything above the price range if nothing in this price range fits my wants/ desires. I also plan to get an eGPU so that I can play AAA games like Resident Evil 8 and Doom Eternal with Ray-Tracing settings at over 60 FPS at 1440p, or at 1080p high and over 100 FPS. Considering this, I’d also like a monitor with a pixel response time lower than 3 ms, though preferably around the 1 ms range. So far I’ve seen a couple monitors from LG that might suit my wants, though they don’t seem to be too bright, and honestly I’d like a monitor that outputs at least 400 nits of brightness, though preferably over 500 considering the display on my XPS 17 already outputs 500 nits. Back to color accuracy, I won’t be doing an professional editing, but knowing that I’ll be utilizing some Engineering softwares, I’ll want a display that’s decently color accurate. However, I would also like the monitor to have good contrast and black uniformity so I can, again, have a good viewing experience. If you folks here at LTT forums can help me out with this, it would be greatly appreciated!

I have an ASUS VG248QG 165hz external monitor that supports 144hz on HDMI cable and I am using an MSI GF75 Thin 9RCX for gaming . The problem is I only get 120hz on the external monitor but they said in the specs it supports 144hz .Is because of the cable I am using ?or Is the Laptop's HDMI output only 120hz ? I am so confused .

I plan to buy a 2k 27" monitor. I buy it mainly for gaming but everyday use consists a major part of the time I spend on pc - that's the main reason I chose 1440p. My laptop is Dell G5 SE with rx5600m gpu and 4600h cpu. With some adjustments I can play some demanding games like rdr2 and ac valhalla on 60fps 1080p (not on ultra but on high or very high etc.). After buying the monitor, I will have to play them again on 1080p for a proper performance. But if I buy a 1440p monitor, I am hesitant that the graphics on 1080p resolution will look remarkably on worse than 1080p gaming on 1080p monitor. (I haven't spend serious time with 1440p monitor before, maybe I will prefer higher resolution to higher fps) Should I choose 1440p monitor for -mostly!- 1080p gaming and daily use or should I choose simply 1080p monitor in order to avoid pixel problems between different resolution scales? It basically summarizes as: 1080p gaming-1080 monitor-60 fps vs 1440p gaming-1440p monitor-45 fps or 1080p gaming-440p monitor-60 fps. Should I expect a serious visual difference on 1080p on 1080p vs 1080p on 1440p. Any suggestions? PS: I have found a 27" 1440p monitor (Acer ed270up) with a reaaaaly good price which is only a little higher than proper 27" 1080p monitors.

Hello guys, I have a Work-From-Home (WFH) set-up consisting of 2 external monitors connected to a Thunderbolt USB-C hub via HDMI, they used to work great. During the holidays I turned my work computer off never to be light up again until today. But I did test my wife new computer, given that the whole reason of buying her a new PC was for her to be able to use this set-up when I get back to Work-on-site (WOS). We tested it and I believe it worked just fine, allthough I don't remember doing any exhaustive testing I basically just checked if connecting it would turn on charging (sinec we both have Lenovos 65W chargers) and it had a video feed on both monitors. Her PC is Thunderbolt 4 Ready btw, while mine is only Thunderbolt 3. When I turn on my work computer, turns out that the TWO monitors connected to the Thunderbolt hub are recognized as one. They both show the exact same video feed and when I right click the desktop and select "Display Settings" only one monitor is recognized. See image Any ideas on what to do to solve this? Thanks a lot in advance.

I posted the following on a Steam forum in an effort to get help. The more I think about it I think there is some odd resolution-switching mismatch between the Steam Deck and the Anker 7-in-1 hub HDMI output and the Monitor. Something odd happens when launching a game to this monitor... no HDMI signal to monitor. It is there when I am in the steam library menus.. but launch a game and it disappears. This worked on othe rmonitors and TVs... just not on my "best" monitor that can rotate vertically to play pinball on somehting larger than the Steam Deck. I apologize for its length, I was kinda thinking through it as I wrote. ABOVE is the short version. ****** Asus PG278 gsync monitor and Steam Deck via Anker 7in1 USB hub model A83486 Wow do I need some kind of help, some kind of clue as to what to do.. not that playing pinball in portrait mode will bring about world peace... SO, here is what I have tried AND WORKED: From a PC running Steam and using that monitor, Asus PG278, rotated to portrait mode an defined on the PC as a 1440x2560 EXTENSION monitor number 2.. I could launch Zen Pinball FX3 and move it over to that monitor and go maximized window at the same resolution.. and it worked well. very nice. I asked for and received a cabinet code a cabinet code from Zen in order to run the game in portrait mode on the Steam Deck. I have the 512GB Steam Deck not that that should matter. I use bluetooth keyboard and 8bitDO SN30pro+ controller and that means I prop the steam deck up oddly in order to do this.. handsfree on the deck itself. I'd add a picture in this thread but I don't see how to. SO.. the next thing to try was getting some kind of powered US hub with an HDMI port to output to a TV to see if the portrait mode would work. I connected it to a TV on my wall.. that dopes not rotate.. a TCL Series 6 55 inch.. nice size for its use. Sure enough, it worked.. the image appeared sideways. The only issue there was whatever delay was created via the Anker model A83486 hub HDMI output.. or the processing of that signal by the TV... resulted in a slightly delayed image. So it always seem like I was hitting the flippers too late.. because.. in the game, the ball had past the flippers before I saw it happen and hit the flippers. At least that what I thought happened.. though maybe BT had a lag? Unsure. SO.. I wanted to know if the TV was the issue, so I went to try the same thing on the portrait mode rotated Asus monitor. When I plugged in the hdmi cable from the hub to the Asus, I got a landscaped issue of the Steam Deck menu of the library of my games. That worked. BUT.. as soon as I launched the game... the monitor went dark and reported.. oh, dang, what was the error.. mode not supported maybe... I replicated that a few times but not since. Now it is just a blank screen like there is no HDMI input.. and yet.. I replicated it outputting while not in the game. That is, if I use the hub HDMI out while in the Steam Library menus.. BEFORE I try to launch PinballFX3.. it works. Hmm.. let me try a landscape game from someone else...ahh,, tried Horison Turbo (old style racing game) monitor says NO HDMI OUTPUT.. I hear the game music so if I pull out the hub it will appear on steam deck screen. okay.. it is happening with every game.. no launched game outputs to the Anker/HDMI to the Asus monitor. Maybe it is the Anker device... though it is already confirmed to work with a TV and my other monitor, a Pixio with Freesync. My guess is it must be the Anker 7-in-1 hub.. https://www.anker.com/products/a8346?variant=37438455480470#! As I look at that page it tells me it is incompatible with a Switch.. probably not a good sign. I'd appreciate any responses.. there might be somehting did not think of.. some odd setting somewhere. Thanks PS. If you want a interesting project for the steam deck.. run Zen Pinball FX3 in portrait mode (need a "cabinet code" from Zen) and build a vertical grip with controllers on the sides. Should do nicely with any vertical game emulation.

External USB C monitor (Asus mb16ac) keeps turning on/off
Otonel88 posted a topic in Troubleshooting
Hi guys. I am having some wierd issue with my external Asus mb16ac USB C monitor which was working fine until I did a CLEAR cmos of my bios When I plug the monitor at the back of the MBO (Asus Strix Dark Hero) trough the included USB c cable and I turn the monitor on, the monitor turns on, then turns off after a few seconds. Wierdlly this behaviour ocours when I start doing something on my pc and I'm moving the mouse/windows etc. I had this issue before when I did a fresh install of windows, and I tried a lot of things even in the bios in the end getting it to work ok, but as I said, after a clear CMOS, this issue came up again, so I'm not sure if I really fixed it before in the BIOS, or how did the issue go away. This is really frustrating, and I've spent hours trying to fix the issue, but no success. I am thinking there could be an issue with the USB ports at the back of my MBO, but I am just guessing at this point. Here are a few things that I tried but couldn't solve the issue, just so maybe you guys have some other ideas on what I could do: In windows power management - USB selective suspend settings I've set that to disabled In windows device manager for USB I've made sure to disable 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' In windows I tried unninstalling and reinstalling the USB drivers. In windows I tried disabling startup services and processes, thinking there is some software that is conflicting which is triggering this wierd behavior. I updated to latest BIOS, chipset, drivers from DisplayLink. In BIOS APM Configuration option on the Advanced I've set ErP Ready to Disabled In BIOS i've set USB power delivery in Soft Off State (S5) to disabled Any other ideas? Thanks- 3 replies

Hi, I'm trying to find in the specs some information about the maximum number of external screens I can have and at what resolution. I have a gaming laptop running windows 10 with an intel i5-9300H cpu and an nvidia geforce GTX 1660 Ti gpu. I would like add a second external monitor, so run at the same time the built-in screen, one on the HDMI, and one on the miniDP. Would that cause a problem or a significant stress on the dedicated intel gpu or even the nvidia card? At what resolutions can I expect limitations? I can't find that info online but I'm sure it's somewhere i'm just looking in the wrong place. Thank you

Hello. I am currently using HP Pavilion 15-cc624tx laptop. I want to use two external 24 inch monitors with this laptop. My question is, does this laptop support two external monitors simultaneously? Processor is intel core-i5 8250U Graphics : intel HD 620 and Nvidia 940MX 4GB It has one HDMI port, no VGA port, one USB 3.1 type C port, two USB 3.1 ports. Intel website says this, https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000025673/graphics.html But I'm not sure if I can actually use two external monitors( three, including built-in monitor ) Also, if I can, what type of solution cable would you recommend? USB C to HDMI / HDMI Splitter / USB 3 to HDMI / something else? The monitors I wanna use is two HP 24f displays. I already have one. If this is possible, I'll inshaAllah buy another one.

Both my laptop (Precision 7510) and external monitor (Acer CB2-27") are of similar resolution 1920x1080. However, the laptopscreen is of 15.6'' and external monitor is 27''. The external monitor is connected by HDMI cable. However, although the external monitor is significantly larger, the display setting in windows 10 unable to detect that. Moreover, if I keep a document in between monitors, it gets scaled up significantly (see pictures). How do I able to scale both the monitors properly so that transition between monitors become smooth?

Hi All, Hope you are well. I am a new user with a burning question! I have an MSI GS63VR with the Nvidia 1060 for laptops (https://www.msi.com/Laptop/GS63VR-6RF-Stealth-Pro.html#hero-overview). The internal display is NOT gsync compatible (1080P IPS). I am looking to purchase an external monitor (with gsync). Question: Will GSYNC be enabled when I connect the GS63VR with the external monitor? Has anyone tested this personally? Thank you in advance! DPGG

Hey guys and gals, Firstly, I've searched all over the internet, and linustechtips.com, for a solution to my problem and, so far, haven't found it. I purchased a new laptop (MSI GS63VR) with a GTX 1060 GPU and figured I could run my 144hz 1080p Acer monitor as a second monitor. Unfortunately the monitor only has VGA, HDMI and DVI ports, so I started by using a MiniDP to dual link DVI-D cable and was unable to select 144hz for the external monitor's refresh rate in the windows display settings area (only 60hz was available from the drop down menu). I was also unable to change the refresh rate in the Nvidia Control Panel because 60hz and a few lower refresh rates were the only ones available. I then called MSI tech support and they said that I'd have to change the refresh rate from the Intel HD Graphics control panel. I opened the Intel HD Graphics control panel and there were no options to change the settings for an external monitor. The only monitor it recognized was the built-in display. They then said that it was because I was using an adapter cable MiniDP to dual link DVI-D and that I'd have to get an HDMI cable. I purchased an HDMI cable today that supports 4k 60hz and all the other new junk. I plugged it in and I'm still having the same problem. I cant change the refresh rate in Nvidia, or the windows display settings area and Intel HD Graphics still doesn't recognize the external monitor (there is no indication through intel hd graphics that there is an external monitor even attached). I would like to add that this monitor has been running at 144hz on my desktop through a straight dual link DVI-D cable for about a year. On to my question. What do I need to do to get this damn display up to 144hz? Am I boned since my Acer GN246HL doesn't have a display port? Does the GTX 1060 in my laptop support 144hz? Also, before someone brings this up, my laptop absolutely murders games at 1080p. I frequently get well over 100fps in the games that I play.

Im looking to buy a new monitor. I will be using it to play casual games like FIFA COD etc. Due to my low budget and graphics card im going to stick to 1080p only. My laptop os Aorus x7 v2. Ive selected 2 monitors. Asus XG27VQ https://www.amazon.com/ROG-Strix-X27VQ-Curved-Monitor/dp/B074PJJWHB Asus VA326H: https://www.amazon.com/Curved-Monitor-31-5-Inch-LED-lit-VA326H/dp/B071J9J767?th=1 I want to know if my laptop will be able to take advantage of the 144hz panel. I also want to know which port i should use to connect the monitor, there is hdmi, mini display and D-sub RJ45. The rog monitor said it supports HDMI 1.4. Dont know what that means.

Hey team I need some help! Long time reader first time poster haha. So a friend of mine just got the quinx qx2710 monitor under my advise. it's a Korean brand monitor 1440p that overclocks. it only had dvi-d input. not the newer multi input version. Now he has a alienware 17r2 and is trying to use it for his external monitor. it is the 970m version. We are using an adaptor from dvi-d to hdmi and the monitor doesn't receive a signal. it stays black. We have done isolation tests. the cable is fine. the monitor turns on when I plug it into my 980ti fine. So it must be the laptop, or the adaptor to the laptop? The monitor is recognised in control panel and when I try to change the resolution to 2560 to 1440 it says it's not within device bandwidth? Does anyone have any advice?
