So I'm actually ok with this, especially if it means the company lives on to another release cycle. However one wonders what made them think they could charge the original flagship pricing. Titianium is nice but still. Clearly they had this $200 as margin, I bet if they paid Samsung for their OLEDs, the reviews would have been more positive and possibly could have led to the phone moving at the original price. Though really they needed to have the camera down pat, they fucked that up. Edit: Waterproofing too, at this price point it's mandatory. Yea, people aren't happy about this, unless they got it for $0 on a contract. They probably should have just eaten the cost, unless it would have literally bankrupted them. At least they are offering the full value I guess....

It looks like there may be some trouble behind the scenes at Essential. We've already seen the release date delayed nearly 60 days (as of July 28) from the "official release" promised May 30. I was trying to install liquid remix but ended up messing up one of the steps. Now it boots up to TWRP, but no touch is accepted as an input. To be specific, I followed this guide until I got to this step: Flash TWRP Image File Now you're ready to flash the base TWRP image file. The tricky part here is you want to flash TWRP to the inactivepartition. In other words, the opposite of the value you received in Step 6 above. So if your active boot slot was "A," enter the following command to flash the TWRP image to slot B: fastboot flash boot_b twrp-3.2.3-0-mata.img If your active boot slot was "B," on the other hand, enter this command to flash TWRP to slot A: fastboot flash boot_a twrp-3.2.3-0-mata.img Afterward, you'll need to set the slot that you just flashed TWRP to as the active boot slot. To do so, copy the following command, but don't hit enter yet. Basically what happened is that I got slot B, but did not read carefully. Because of that, I made it boot_b instead of a. I noticed the error, so I entered the other command, making it flash twrp to both slots. Now what happens is that It boots to TWRP, but touch gestures do not work. I can still boot to bootloader, so there might be hope for it. I know this is probably a lost cause, but can anybody tell me if anything can be done?

After releasing only one major product (the Essential Phone) and a few accessories, Essential Products will be shutting down. It's nice that they're releasing their software on Github; but given the device wasn't that successful anyway, it doesn't really help that many people. Essential announced their next phone yesterday called Project Gem. It's definitely not what I would have expected to follow up the PH-1. A tiled UI similar to the Windows Phone, a mid-range Snapdragon 730 processor, but most importantly it's the shape that sets a lot of people off. I like that this is not another rectangular smart phone almost indistinguishable from the next flagship but, it does not seem practical. Essential was aiming for a phone companion, controlled by voice gestures, I'm assuming. Essential will be turning away most of their current PH-1 users, myself included. True to their name, this phone is essential, the developers have optimised the UI to fit the small form factor and I doubt people would use the phone as much as they would a regular sized smartphone. Watching media would be harder, although following text conversations might be easier while replying with text-to-speech (because we all know that works 100% of the time). Maybe they'll attract a new user base? What are you thoughts on the phone?

I have been in a dire situation with my 1-year-old gaming pc: It is consistently crashing when playing 3D games, like Destiny 2 and Quake Champions for any more than about 10 minutes. before the issues start there is no indication of a problem, but after a little bit of time, the game just closes with a crash report to the desktop. Cooling is not an issue as I use a custom loop to cool my CPU, GPU and VRM's. I have noticed that overclocking my GPU has resulted in longer amounts of time before crashing occurs, but they never completely stop. (Performance is not the issue either, just look at what hardware I'm using at the bottom) I have previously reinstalled Windows, reinstalled all of my drivers and also tried to do some hardware troubleshooting as well. I still have no idea of what is really going on and what might be able to fix it. I am currently going to school for game design and I am required to work in Unity for a large number of my projects, if this is not fixed, it will surely be a detriment to my academic success, which is why I have marked this as urgent, as the semester has already begun and I am running out of time. Update: this seems to be an issue with my CPU, but I do not know how to fix it, as when I tried to stress test my CPU, my pc crashed. ANY suggestions/feedback would be appreciated I don't know if this will be helpful, but I was watching task manager during my last crash, I noticed that under GPU -> 3D, there was a momentary spike to 100% usage, then back down to 0. Can anyone help me pick parts to make this essential gaming €350 pc? You can go up to 400€ since I will be buying some used components if I find them.

I can get the Silverstone Strider Essential 700W (SST-ST70-ES) for not a whole lot of money, I don't see a single review on it. Is it a good reliable PSU? Is it good for overclocking? Does anyone have any experience on it? P.S. This is my first post here, sorry if I did something wrong.

What would you say is essential software for PCs? Things such as CPU-Z and GPU-Z?
