Summary ESL has run about 80% of all high tier tournaments in CS since 2020. ESL is the parent company of DreamHack and ESEA, while FaceIt is one of their 2 competitors. FaceIt is the platform that best competes with ESEA in most of the world. They were both purchased by Savvy Gaming Group, which is backed by the Saudi Arabian Sovereign Wealth Fund. They claim they will begin providing stipends to "up and coming" players to foster competitive play. Quotes My thoughts This, clearly, is an attempt at washing the Saudi Arabian Government's image. However, I don't think the current path of Esports' growth would've been sustainable, without literally throwing away money with no plan to see any financial ROI. As someone who used to be fairly involved with the low-mid tier competitive scene, I think this will be a good thing, since more prize pools and better servers is always a good thing. However, I think this can potentially lead to the Esports scene becoming even more franchised than it currently is. I wouldn't be too shocked if we see similar funds start buying stakes in teams, raising questions of conflict of interest, which have plagued the scene for years. Additionally, I'd raise questions regarding ESL's plans for a Woman's League, and whether talent who are vocal about Saudi Arabia's Human Rights Abuses (among other things...) will be "uninvited" from events they host. I expect we may see Valve take a stance towards this near monopoly. I'm not too familiar with Dota's circuit, but I know ESL was involved with it a few years ago as well. As someone who follows the Finance Side, the $1.5B deal is absolutely massive. Fairly sure this is the largest M&A in Esports. Budget (including currency): $800 CAD Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Valorant, Battlefield 2042 Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Upgrading from 8700k OC'd @5ghz, 1080p 240hz Hey guys, I am an aspiring valorant competitor so all I really care about is max fps ingame, not productivity. I know the 5600x and 5800x do not vary to much in average fps but I was wondering if it was worth the jump between the two cpus in case of the 1% lows. I was also wondering what motherboard would be a good pairing in terms of straight power delivery and good VRMS. I know the MAG X570 tomahawk is a great board but slightly out of my price range. So I was thinking of going for the B550 tomahawk instead. Would appreciate any other suggestions.

System: Asus Tuf A15 fa506ii Cpu - Amd 4600H [6C/12T] Gpu - 1650Ti Screen - 144Hz ; 1920x1080 Memory - 8Gb [3200 MHz] I usually play Valorant, CS:GO etc. and when I checked the fps I am getting 120fps on both high and low settings. I've seen videos of the same system producing 180-200fps on these titles, not only that my friends having lower tier systems are managing to get 160+ fps. #GTA V (maxed settings) produces around 90fps on my system (which is similar to the videos having the same system that I found on YouTube for GTA V) I have checked everything, right from full screen optimizations to nvidia control panel [ set for best performance] but still cannot find where the issue is.

Advisory: I have no credibility nor full knowledge of what's behind the scenes in the full spectrum scale. Yet I see so many issues that are not/ only now are being addressed at all. CS:GO - (This will be my main focus, I plan on properly writing an essay/article about my thoughts but since I have never done anything like this and I am too ignorant to learn on my own, I am hoping for your constructive input.) As it has been highly discussed, these bans issued to the iBuyPower players seem rather unfair. Not for what they did but because there were no countermeasures at the time of the event. And when it started getting exposed Valve took a hammer and put them down to create an example to the rest of the players, instead of properly addressing it in a collective manner, leaving them blinded for a year with no hopes of getting their careers back. This is a two sided story as it creates controversy regarding their actions named stealing, robbing and essentially committing legal crimes. Although I cannot dispute these statements I can say that Valve had no right to ban them simply for the greater good of the future of competitive CS if not eSports as a whole. They should have been punished themselves as they did not think this could happen, or if they did they simply chose to ignore it. Valve should have contacted some sort of legal advisor to set ground rules on match fixing. Even though it is obvious it is bannable, it wasn’t stated in the rules of the tournament they were involved in. eSports in general using the CS scene - But enough of match-fixing scandals, on the something more productive. I have really enjoyed watching D!ngIT Weekly Cups with $200 up for grabs by tier 2-3 teams as well as Acer Predator Masters, Uprise Champions and Operation Kinguin. These are some of the events that deserve to be watched regularly by us and that should be the main focus. Instead of the exhaustive top tier teams constantly fighting in, more than too often honestly, tourneys that become less and less interesting as the amount increases. Leaving the teams with not enough time to practice as much and us getting tired and losing that special interest we had in watching our favourite team fight for that special spotlight. With this last rather confusing paragraph, what I’m trying to get across is that there is very little exposure for the smaller teams and even the tier 2. After a decade in eSports, each major game (LoL, SC2 and CS:GO) should be able to support each team monetarily not in prizes but in sponsors. The top tier teams shouldn’t have to compete for $5000 dollars every other week to be able to generate enough revenue to have a house and food after retiring. eSports only become a feasible option when you are able to retire and either find another job on the area that you have studied for while you were doing it part-time, or if you fully committed you must have enough money to walk it off for at least a couple of years after. Conclusion - These issues are a rather painful thing to sort out but it would be an ideal reality. There are sponsors and investors willing to put money down for this, mainly because there are numbers to back these ideas up. Now I realize this last bit became quite a cluster of ideas and it became rather hard to understand. Again, I’m hoping for input from you guys to help me understand the scene better and hopefully spread the word and help the players and the aspiring ones. TL:DR I don’t think the iBuyPower shouldhave been banned because Valve didn’t have any rules against it at the time of the happening and they should be punished by not being allowed to do so. CS:GO pros need to be top tier in order to have CS as a main focus of income and career and need to play too many tournaments in order to have enough to retire and not have to work for some years. This issue should be addressed by having more money down by sponsors and there should be also higher pay and more room for smaller tier teams (2-3).

From the album: Hot Gaming Industry Trends of 2018
Odds are, 2018 is likely to be a banner year for eSports. According to Newzoo’s figures, the total revenues in eSports have already reached $906 million with robust YoY growth of 38.2%. Thus it’s no wonder why large Venture Capital funds have started investing in the eSports sector. Source: https://dmarket.com/blog/gaming-trends-2018/ -
Hello, after making various threads, I have narrowed it down to the specs I want for a monitor. (I play a decent amount of CSGO and rust, I also am going to play games like dying light 2 and Cyberpunk 2077 when they release) Ghosting is really my main concern hence why I didn't want a VA. I would like to know what is currently the best on the market for my budget and spec, so I can compare it with my current choices. Thanks for all the help

Is getting the old Zephyrus G from 2019 worth it right now ? With the ryzen 7 3750H and a GTX 1660ti maxQ. I'm thinking of getting a new gaming laptop around the 1000$ price point and I can get this zephyrus G for a little under 1100$ in my country. I really like the overall design and it's mainly for esports games mainly dota 2 and maybe some Apex Legends from time to time and a little light streaming on discord and such. But do you guys think it's worth or should I wait for the G14 to launch here. I really would love to get my hands on a G14 without a doubt but the launch date in India is expected to be late august or September and I really dont wanna wait for that.

After never before considering the idea, I've decided to get into (watching) esports. The thing is that there's plenty of stuff for CS:GO and LoL and such. I don't care much for these, to be honest. I would rather watch competitive car sim racing, because that's more up my street. Where can I get info on live races and where can I watch them?

Me and a few friends has started a streaming production company, although we don't make money of it yet, at least we break even. We are looking for people create good relations with so when can pay them a good sum, they are willing to come and work for us. Right now are looking for someone who wants to be an Overwatch commentator. No experience is needed since we will help you practice and become hopefully sometime in the future become a professional commentator. Here is the catch though, you have to live in Sweden and know Swedish since the commenting will be done in Swedish. So if there is someone interested out there, please direct message me. EDIT: It it possible to do it in English as well, however, the live in Sweden requirement still stands

Hey! I'm a grade 11 student and I have a really interesting request... I have to do a representing project on eSports in general and I want some guidance to how to do this. This is going to be an informational project about either the misunderstanding or just what eSports is. I would like to refrain from doing a powerpoint because this is more of a visual project, not a speech. I could do a poster, but I don't know how to represent it. keep in mind that it is really informational. (This is just for guidance because I have no idea wtf to do)

I've got a nice gaming rig built for when I'm at home, but I'd like to have a cheap thin and light laptop to take with me on the go. For single player or non-competitive stuff where lag isn't as big of a factor, I've got vpn and steam streaming set up and working, but I'd like to at least still be able to play overwatch and league of legends on my to-go machine. Can kaby lake keep 60fps 1080p with at least medium settings in esports titles or do I have to spring for a 1050 equipped laptop?

Hi, I was wondering what keyboard to buy for gaming. I'm already pretty sure what mouse I want (G900 Chaos Spectrum) and I already have good wireless headphones, but I'm currently using a PS4 controller and it's awful for first person shooters and anything that requires me to look around quickly so I'm planning to switch to a mouse and keyboard.

[ To give some background info, I am trying to build a PC that will get me the best possible fps in the game CS:GO for the money - 1000 EUR. After lots of searching and discussing, I came up with several possible builds favoring aspects like aesthetics, graphics performance and processor performance respectively. Here's my processor performance take on the build: ] Hey you computer-savvy people, What do you think about this new build I've conjured up (saves on graphics card, storage & RAM for better processor): PCPartPicker part list: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/csHQnn Price breakdown by merchant: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/csHQnn/by_merchant/ CPU: Intel - Core i7-7700 3.6GHz Quad-Core Processor (€319.84 @ Mindfactory) CPU Cooler: CRYORIG - H7 49.0 CFM CPU Cooler (€39.17 @ Amazon Deutschland) Motherboard: ASRock - B250 Pro4 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (€93.54 @ Mindfactory) Memory: Crucial - Ballistix Elite 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 Memory (€117.89 @ Amazon Deutschland) Storage: Crucial - MX300 525GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (€149.00 @ Amazon Deutschland) Video Card: EVGA - GeForce GTX 1060 3GB 3GB SC GAMING Video Card (€221.93 @ Mindfactory) Case: NZXT - S340 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case (€88.54 @ Mindfactory) Power Supply: SeaSonic - 520W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply (€69.89 @ Amazon Deutschland) Operating System: Microsoft - Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit (€102.89 @ Mindfactory) Software: Microsoft - Office Home and Student 2016 Software Monitor: AOC - G2460PF 24.0" 1920x1080 144Hz Monitor (€262.90 @ Mindfactory) Keyboard: Corsair - STRAFE RGB Wired Gaming Keyboard (€192.90 @ Amazon Deutschland) Headphones: Kingston - HyperX Cloud II 7.1 Channel Headset (€78.90 @ Amazon Deutschland) Total: €1737.39 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2017-05-08 21:35 CEST+0200 Some possible follow up questions: 1. Is the locked i7 7700 a good enough performance increase over the unlocked i5 6600k to warrant the fairly steep price increase? 2. Will the graphics card's small form factor and single cooling fan cause it to overheat or reach a high noise level when it comes to intensive gaming or workloads? If so, is it high enough to be a deal-breaker or is this still a suitable GTX 1060 for the money? 3. Any downsides to going with single-SSD storage? 4. Any other follow up comments or suggestions? Thanks again for all your help and advice, Jacob

To all Counter Strike : Global Offensive players: 1. Do you play it with a self-built PC or a pre-built PC (with standard parts)? 2. If so, what are the parts of that PC (mainly CPU + GPU) and how much fps do you get with it (include video settings & map) 3. If possible, include approximate cost of your PC too [Reason: I am building a gaming PC ~1000 EUR to be used 90% for CS:GO gameplay] Thanks in advance for your help, Jacob

Hey there! To start off, I'm fairly confident that this is the correct section to post in, and if not I apologize and please tell me! So, I've been interested in purchasing a new monitor for a while, and after scanning through every monitor within my budget, its come down to 2, the "Dell Gaming S2417DG" and the "BenQ XL2430". This monitor is mainly for competitive games such as CS:GO, but I would also like a nice all around monitor along with the capabilities for esports. The BenQ XL2430T is pretty notorious within the esports scene as a reliable and efficient monitor. The dell gaming is fairly new and isn't really seen as a go to monitor in the gaming scene. My mind is kind of headed towards the dell, mainly for the 1440p, OC to 165Hz, the thin bezel and G-Sync, which the BenQ lack. These features are not necessary, but considering how often I get a monitor, I think investing it one with such features would make sense. I would really appreciate if you guys could give me some personal experience with the monitors or some pros and cons not found on articles and such. Thank you for taking your time to read this, Ryan.

Hey guys, I am after some assistance on a new build. I am only really going to be playing CSGO and PUBG but occasionally other competitive multiplayer games. I will also be doing occasional streams (once or twice a week) but generally just be gaming. I would like to get the best or required specs for those two games. I play ESEA in CSGO so I would like smooth game play and limited fps drop. My current budget is $1500AUD but keep in mind I would like to upgrade parts in the future if they are currently minimal (Such as a i5 to a i7 or a Ryzen 5 to a 7 etc). When I stream I use OBS. I won't be overclocking unless needed too, such as a CPU under 3.5Ghz but anything above 3.5 should be fine. I do not need any additional peripherals. I don't really care about looks, just want a PC that can operate under load but not under pressure. Any suggestions on parts will be much appreciated Thank you
