Hi Guys, My company is looking to replace some aging Sun 3/E systems as the Coaxial & SCSI Ethernet Boards are failing and spares are hard to come by or none existent. So now I'm looking at the community of UNIX & Linux Hackers around to help out. Would like to replace the system with new hardware running BSD or Linux, but thinking about how we could interface the legacy ports and connectors. The Device all these machines are connected to is a Flight Safety B737-300 Flight Simulator. Most if not all of the cockpit parts are from a real aircraft, so most of these lagacy ports are there to adapt it to the tech of the time (Some of which are from 1988). I will checkout whatever you awesome guys have sent me thus far. As we see it, this machine has another year or so if the parts hold up. The manufacturer wants an insane amount of money to update the whole system to just 2 racks with 2-3 modern machines (Mostly running Linux now), we're trying to find a solution that enables us to run Video Tour : https://youtu.be/GtmpFWxo_aA Flight Simulator : This is the Flight Safety (Manufacturer) B737-300 Flight Simulator manufactured in 1991. We use for Flight Training, many airlines from the Asian and African sector still operate these Aircrafts. https://ibb.co/mvtYSmc https://ibb.co/4t9zHRh https://ibb.co/mBXv4Rs Host Sun 0 Machine : This has the main OS on it with whatever applications are needed to run the IOS Software (Instructor Operating Station) Host_1 : https://ibb.co/tL5KMhj Sun Micro 501-8027 3/E Ethernet/SCSI Card aka the Ethernet Board that has failed : https://ibb.co/NZh58ZP https://ibb.co/48sVJYV https://ibb.co/0yJwwwJ https://ibb.co/stdWJ8g https://ibb.co/jLKBqpK Client Sun Machine : The images below are for a client machine of sorts, It connects to a Host machine (also Solaris Based using the Sun 3/E and Motorola Chassis) and gets an IP Address of sorts to link the two machines using the 501-8027 Cards. hdr Dolphin Emulator adds HDR Enhancement Shaders
Sampajama posted a topic in Programs, Apps and Websites
In case you haven't seen, Dolphin just added support for HDR Enhancement shaders and included some in the emulator. I'm the developer of the PerceptualHDR shader, and I tuned it to work especially well on Nintendo Games. A lot of math wen't into making this shader look correct on an HDR screen. For my testing I had the pleasure of testing on the MBP16 XDR screen, which can go up to a blinding 1600 nits. I don't have access to RTX HDR, but I like to believe it's somewhat comparable (even if it's just tone mapping instead of AI). But I'd really like to get your guy's opinions on the addition. You can read more about it here: https://dolphin-emu.org/blog/2024/04/30/dolphin-progress-report-addendum-hdr-block/ I'll attach some of the example images below. Goes without saying, you can only see the difference on an HDR screen. Before: After (PerceptualHDR Default): After (PerceptualHDR Maximum): -
As has been in the news recently, Nintendo are currently seeking damages from Yuzu. I really hope this doesn't become a new Gary Bowser situation as it's primary purpose is NOT for piracy! https://www.pcgamer.com/nintendo-is-suing-the-makers-of-the-switch-emulator-yuzu-claims-there-is-no-lawful-way-to-use-yuzu/ https://www.theverge.com/2024/2/27/24085075/nintendo-switch-emulator-yuzu-lawsuit https://www.polygon.com/24085140/nintendo-totk-leaked-yuzu-lawsuit-emulator

Summary Tropic Haze, the creators of the popular Nintendo Switch and 3DS emulators, Yuzu and Citra, has agreed to pay the $2,400,000 to Nintendo over the lawsuit that Nintendo issued a little over a week ago against Yuzu. Tropic Haze has agreed to shut down the production of Yuzu and Citra along with all social media accounts and websites that promote the Yuzu and Citra emulators. The yuzu-emu.org will be handed over to Nintendo as well. All the source code for Yuzu and Citra has been pulled down from Github. Quotes My thoughts This is really terrible. It's one thing to face a lawsuit over your users using your program to do things that they shouldn't (I mean, can you imagine if this sort of thing happened with all programs?), but it's a whole different thing to make the company in question take down all the source code and references to it online. Nintendo, you done goofed. Sources The Verge Yuzu Website

Pardon my French, but FUCK OF NINTENDO!!!! Why are they so Anti-fun when they are a company founded on having fun with family and friends?!! They just wont allow anybody to enjoy GOOD GAMES on HARDWARE THAT DOESNT SUCK!!! The people who spent so much work on Yuzu and citra just have to sit here and watch their work be wasted by Nintendont-have-fun! Nintendo is the worst of the 3 gaming consol/software companies. My list is: Xbox, Playstation, and (lower than EA now) Nintendo!! I want to go on and on about Nintendo, but i might just get sued(Nintendo!!!!!!!!!) You know whats funny is that Nintendo never discounted WiiU virtual purchases or 3ds purchaces of games when they were about to close the eshops for thoe systems? Nintendos website should say: Nintendo "The greedy company that is all about suing people who try to make enjoying switch games better by using hardware we don't! We are the people you HATE TO LOVE. Disagree with us, well ruin your fun!!" Also I would love to hear your opinion @LinusTech!! Dont know if u can tell but im heated. Also all games i played on Yuzu, I bought from Best buy or Amazon in physical copies. I have a whole shelf to prove that i own all these overpriced games that run on crappy hardware. Also keep on doing what u do Linus, You are awespme.

If this isn't the right place to post this, please tell me where I can ask this question. Now with the question, I am attempting to run ESPN NFL 2k 5 for literally any emulated console that can run it. I am stuck with a couple of old laptops that don't do the job, but soon my mediocre gaming rig will be fixed and I can do this on that. My rig has 8 gb ddr4, i5 13th gen, (8 or so cores) and a GTX 1660 Super. I don't remember the exact specs, but it can run red dead 2 at pretty high quality, to give you a benchmark. My crap laptops have ryzen 3 and 8 gb ram and a 2013 model i7 laptop with 8 gigs of ram. Im not trying it on there anymore. Now, I feel it will run ok on my rig IF I have the right settings figured out for graphics and audio. I always get occasional beeping noises and audio crackling, and a bit of video lag ( on crap laptops). I have tried it on Xemu and PCSX2 (more luck with the latter), is there a better emulation program out there, and what bios files and stuff should i use, in addition to correct settings?

Hi Very specific problem here. TL;DR: will DP to HDMI to composite/RCA work? From PC to CRT tv. I often play emulators on PC but display them on an old CRT TV. The TV has the composite red yellow white cables which go to an adapter that adapts the CRT signal to HDMI. Now I have a different videocard which doesn't have an extra HDMI port so the question is if a passive Displayport to HDMI adapter would work in this case. Based on my limited knowledge and what is displayed on the product pages this should work, but Im not sure so I ask you guys. Any help is appreciated. This is the link to the DP HDMI adapter https://www.bol.com/nl/nl/p/staza-displayport-naar-hdmi-adapter-kabel/9300000086148605/ This is a link to a similar composite to HDMI adapter : https://www.bol.com/nl/nl/p/tulp-naar-hdmi-adapter-av-composiet-rca-to-hdmi-audio-video-kabel-zwart/9200000094776467/?Referrer=ADVNLGOO002013-S--9200000094776467&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA1MCrBhAoEiwAC2d64WAjFhZbLIY49M1V3AlFyPlEVLMgwiB_VlMGPgpNbX4lwOTUxEIa1xoCx1sQAvD_BwE

Assuming 2 pcs that both have the following components 7950X Cpu 4x16 gbs of ram Cooling sufficient enough to have the cpu not bottleneck A high end motherboard and an overkill power supply Which family of gpu is going to be the better all rounder in terms of emulating games An Nvidia 4090 or an RS 7900 XTX. I know that overall the 4090 is both more expensive and has more brute force compute wise but emulation tends to be more cpu heavy and i wasnt sure if having an amd card paired with an amd cpu might cause things to have better performance. Similarly, if i'm just balling out of control and have both a 4090 and an 7900 xtx in the same computer, how likely is it that i can just go and tell each emulator what gpu to use and have it work with no problems whatsoever This is a purely hypothetical question that i'm asking simply so that i know what computer components i should save towards. I intend to have an all rounder gaming pc that i would like to have the best raw emulation performance possible

Hello, everyone! I simply don't understand what I am doing wrong. I am trying to run Wipeout Pure on PPSSPP for Android. I got PPSSPP for Android. I am running it on a Huawei P30 Lite with EMUI 10. Running it in standard battery mode or performance mode, definitely not battery saver. Currently running the PPSSPP on stock settings, except constant frameskip to 1 for a locked 30fps and audio disabled. However, I have tried what feels like every single combination of the settings, though I might have skipped something, I just don't know what. The game runs mostly fine even without frameskip at 60fps and my phone's native resolution but it drops randomly. So I said I can live with 30 FPS as long as it is constant. But there are still framedrops to 20 fairly regularly so the whole thing is a hitchy microstuttery mess. Running it without frameskip almost feels better because it drops to 40 fps and it's less jarring that 30 dropping to 17 which happens constantly and makes no freaking sense because if the game can run between 40 and 60, why can't it run stable 30? It is an almost 20 year old game running on a 5 year old device and current software. What am I doing wrong?

Budget (including currency): Around $500 USD Country: US Gaming: Horizon Zero Dawn, Hitman World of Assassins, Alan Wake Remastered, Spider-man 2, Death Stranding, Elden Ring, Red Dead Redemption 2, God of War etc. (a mix of newer linear and open world titles as well as some indie) Emulation (Yuzu, RCPS3, PCSX2) Programs: Adobe CC Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premier mainly), Blender, Unreal Engine 5 Current Build: CPU - i7 4790 Motherboard - PC5F7 RAM - 16gb GPU - Zotac 1070ti Mini Case - Optiplex 9020mt Storage - 500gb SSD, 4tb HDD PSU - EVGA 750 GQ 80+ Gold Planned PC: MOBO - Gigabyte B660M AORUS ELITE AX DDR4 Micro ATX LGA1700 Motherboard CPU - i5-12600K 3.7 GHz 10-Core Processor OR i3 (12th Gen) i3-12100 Quad-core (4 Core) 3.30 GHz CPU Cooler - White NZXT T120 RGB 50.18 CFM CPU Cooler RAM - White Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 CASE - White NZXT H5 Flow RGB ATX Mid Tower Case Existing Parts/Bringing from current PC: PSU - EVGA 750W GQ 80 Plus Gold Semi-Modular Main Storage - WD Blue 500GB SATA SSD Secondary Storage - 4tb WD Blue HDD 5400 RPM GPU - Zotac 1070 ti Mini (Dual Fan) Main Monitor - 22" Sceptre 1080p 60hz Secondary Monitor - 20" Sceptre 1080p 60hz Keyboard - CoolerMaster SK650 Mouse - Razer Death Adder 2013 I'm looking to get the parts for this new PC from now till early January. My main goal is to build a lower budget machine that's future proof to upgrade down the line. I know this won't instantly give me the highest quality gaming due to the 1070 ti and 1080p low hz monitors. But those will be upgraded down the line. I stuck with DDR4 as it's cheaper and I believe will perform great for the price even when compared to DDR5. As for the motherboard, I was looking for again mid range price with an LGA 1700 socket while retaining M.2 slots, RGB and fan headers, many USB 2.0, USB 3.0+ and USB C ports/headers, built in Bluetooth (the wifi is unnecessary but seems to come with the Bluetooth which is a must for me), BIOS USB. I also want something that will Aesthetically match the rest of the build including the GPU. A benefit of the case I picked is airflow, it comes with two front panel RGB fans and the dedicated 120mm GPU fan as the 1070 ti runs very hot even with 2 fans and down clocked in my current PC. If anyone has recommendations on changes in parts additions etc. that would be greatly appreciate. Especially if you have experience with Emulation on something like the i3 vs. i5 listed!

Hi! I am experiencing an issue with the refresh rate when running Ryujinx in fullscreen. I have a 144Hz LG monitor, but since emulating in Ryujinx works smoothest with 60Hz, I change the refresh rate of my monitor before I play. The problem is, as soon as I run Ryujinx in fullscreen, the refresh rate defaults back to 144Hz and all my games feel stuttery, I guess due to bad frame pacing. I've tried different DP and HDMI cables, different ports on my GPU (RX 6600), reinstalling Windows clean and creating custom resolutions in AMD software. Nothing worked. Did anyone experience these issues before and might have any suggestions on what I can do to fix this? I've submitted requests to the Ryujinx team as well, but I got no reply so far.

First off, I want to say thank you to everyone who played wii sports while waiting in line, passed the wii remote around, shared their stories of playing wii sports, and made waiting in the LTX lines enjoyable for everyone! I had so much fun running around meeting everyone in the long lines and having you all play wii sports on the good O' steam deck. This is what the community is about! Of course like I said I would, here is all the scores of all the LTT staff I found at LTX and some notable mentions! Enjoy and I hope to see you all around at future events! - Wiisportsguy We had 14 Strikes over the entire weekend!

Summary While Dolphin, an open-source emulator of GameCube and Wii games, was intended to be released on Steam later this year, Nintendo issued a DMCA take-down against Valve. Quotes My thoughts I'm honestly sure that if Nintendo attempts to get rid of Dolphin, then there are at least two cases where Sony tried to kill emulation two decades ago but failed. If Nintendo succeeds though, then this could mean the end of emulation as we know it. Note on this Build: I am looking to create this build sometime between now and next Christmas. I am in no rush, but I did want to do my research and ask for help on the implementation of the storage specifically (see questions below). Help, suggestions or links to references are all much appreciated. Budget (including currency): ~$1500 CAD Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Emulating Wii, GameCube, etc., Media storage and consumption, home server, considering using also as a Plex server. Other details: So main question is how to do setup a mass storage drive that has drive parity (something like RAID 5) where I can get a performance benefit from pooling 3+ drives together with the added resilience of being able to loose 1 drive while being completely in Windows 10 pro (not server) so I can use Backblaze for backup. Secondary question: once I do that, can I possibly add a single large storage SSD or a NVMe SSD as like a L2 cache or tiered storage to that mass drive so that when I write big files to it, it writes to the SSD and the trickles into the HDD array and copies frequently used files into the SSD for use (such as copies a season of a show I am watching into the SSD when I add it all to play in VLC). I have looked at windows storage spaces but I wasn't sure if there are other options out there. I do prefer to go software as apposed to hardware based configuration as this is a system I will be upgrading over time and would like to keep the same or a similar configuration just with newer parts and I don't want to lock into AMD or Intel only. Parts: Cpu: Ryzen 5 or i5 latest gen (basically a six core) Mobo: Asus TUF wifi (or something similar) Ram: 16 GB 3200MHz ram (likely corsair vengeance, but might like ECC if going AMD) BOOT SSD: Crucial 128 GB SATA SSD (already own) Additional SSD: Intel m.2 1 TB 665p HDD: 4 X Seagate Barracuda 8TB (I know, probably should go iron wolf or exos, but I am not hitting these berry hard and I already have two and will run with 1 drive parity and live Backblaze backups so it will be fine till they are all old enough to upgrade later when I am more flush with cash) GPU: Would like something like a 2070 super or 3060. Will check used market vs new when it comes time to buy in a few months. Case: building a custom case so my wife approves of the asthetic. Price of case not included in budget. PSU: EVGA 750W G3 Super Nova (already own) Cooler and fans: water cooled so will be looking into cpu water blocks (recommendations would be helpful here). I do like the promo chill fittings in white and the Alpha cool radiators that you can connect in to the top and out of the bottom. Will likely use noctua 120mm black fans. Again, any help and suggestions would be much appreciated.

Budget (including currency): $50-100 (if this is possible) Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Dolphin Emulator (Gamecube and Wii games) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Dell Optiplex 3020 SFF with i5 4590 (4c 4t @3.7 Ghz), 8 GB DDR3 The GPU needs to be single slot and small form factor. This is more for the future since the GPU market is crazy right now. Would something like a GT 1030 suffice?

Hello, I have recently been getting into emulation with retroarch and is it going great however I have had an issue with Wii emulation specifically Super Mario Galaxy where everytime I collect a star bit the game slows down alot but otherwise runs fine. I found this site which seems to have explain something similar but I can't seem to find the correct settings: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php/Super_Mario_Galaxy I have an I7 10700, RTX 3070 and using an XBOX One controller. So the specs should not be a problem. Do we have any emulation wizards that may be able to help?

Budget (including currency): 200 Usd Country: Brazil Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Game emulation, movies, Parsec... Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I want to buy a Ryzen 5 2500u from Aliexpress. The current APU and GPU crisis is letting budget pc's to expensive. Under a 100 Usd you can buy a Motherboard with the cpu in ali from multiple stores. I wanna plug on my tv to become my emulating console and watch movies. But i don't wanna buy a screen to directly put my notebook or buy native keyboard and mouse. Some notebooks don't directly recognize than you pluged in another screen and do the transmition. Also, may be dificult to acess the bios. Because theres little to no expecific recomendation i'm here to ask suggestions and what you guys think about it.

So just wanted to give an update that RetroArch, has been able to be released on steam. Hopefully no takedowns over time. A few differences in the steam version.

So I just watched the video about being able to run old playstation games on an Xbox Series X/S using RetroArch emulator. I was wondering if we can use this emulator on Xbox Series X to emulate ps3 games via RPCS3. Also can we add other emulators via retro arch such as the WII U emulators availiable on PC ? (I am not good at tech just so you know)

"It has not even been a month since AMD launched its upscaling technology as an open-source alternative to competing super-resolution techniques. The technology has now been adopted by various gaming software and launchers, such as Magpie or Valve’s Wine implementation for Proton. It looks like gamers enjoying console games on PCs can now also see the technology in action." I've been waiting for this… RPCS3 team keeps being impressive how quick they are! Also this is bigger than you might think, many PS3 games dont run properly on the emulator outside of their original resolution (which is usually 720p) or have outrageous requirements to run at higher res, so those games should benefit a lot from this! Also Im finally getting to try FSR as I dont own a current gen game that uses it, and dont plan to any time soon either. I have been studying via an online learning program in which they have an app (for android)and a SD Card on which all the content is saved (in read only) . The app needs access to SD card to work/show content. I want to use the app on my pc. I've been able to install the app onto LDPlayer (an android emulator) but as far as I could find there's no way for me to let the app have access to the SD Card connected to my PC. Any ideas or suggestions? thankyou!
