I have gotten myself a relatively cheap KVM switch for working at home, only problem is I got my Laptop (MSI GP 66 Leopard) after the switch and it only outputs in HDMI. But the KVM switch I got only takes DP inputs. I tried using HDMI to DP cables, but contrary to the names, the signal only works one way (DP -> HDMI), with multiple devices even when directly PC to monitor. So does anyone know of ANY cable / adaptor that actually works the other way around? Would really like to know if thats possible or I just wasted my money.

Damn my head is gonna explode now, what a mess is type-c and all of it's alternate modes. I have a laptop with Kaby Lake R (no thunderbolt only type-c 3.1) and all video ports go through intel hd620. Dedicated HDMI on board is only 1.4, but I need to connect via HDMI to my TV with 4k 60hz HDR . So I bought two cables: type-c to DP cable (for tests) and a type-c to hdmi cable with PS176 LSPCON from parade. So 4k 60 HDR is works fine with DP on my monitor with 4:4:4 subsampling, but with hdmi cable HDR doesn't show up and subsampling looks to be as low as 4:2:0 or 4:2:2. Is there any chance to get it working with HDMI with another cable and different LSPCON, or i'm out of luck here?

so now i bought Samsung odyssey crg50 which supports 1080@144hz but for some reason it gives me only 120 hz from Nvidia control panel on 1.2 dp but gives me 144 on 1.1 dp when i change it to 1.2 dp from monitor button on 144hz too it starts to blink till i reset it to 120 hz or reset it on 1.1 dp with 144 so will dp version affect my gaming? and can i get 144 hz on 1..2 dp without blinking a lot then black screen and at last im using laptop

Hi all, I cannot get my display over USB-C working. Some background: I've got myself a shiny (second hand new) Dell XPS 15 7590. I'm coming from a Dell XPS 15 9560, which was fine untill I trashed it with coffee. I have a Gigabyte M27F display with KVM switch; DP is connected to gaming rig, USB-C is connected to work laptop. This was awesome with my previous laptop; plug in usb C for work, unplug it for gaming, one keyboard and mouse to rule them all. So, I just swapped laptops, kept all the cables the same, but cannot get the display over USB-C working. It worked so well with the previous Dell. (HDMI output works fine tough, so I don't think it's a GPU hardware issue, good assumption?) The laptop charges over it, accepts the KB and mouse, and everything seems to work, but the screen stays black and says "No-signal". Even in windows: the screen is there both in widows Display settings and in the Intel Graphics Command centre. Refresh rate was set to 59, changing this does not seem to impact it. There are no other options as far as I can see. I think I've got all drivers up to date. Got the Geforce experience, did the Dell update, and the Intel Driver support assistant. Even via the windows control panel I tried updating drivers. (This actually rolls back the intel driver, which Intel Driver support assistant then wants to update agian.) Today I tried at work with one of those Dell USB-C docking stations, and with a Dell U2721DE. These both worked just fine! Why? How? I don't understand. Is there any additional info I can help you out with? So you can help me out... I will bake you a cookie if you can help me! Cheers, Me

Hey guys, any help is deeply appreciated!! Here is the case: I have a vertical gpu bracket installed and it came with special angled DP cables so I can't change them. I made an cable management overhaul and one cable isn't long enough afterwards so I got the coupler. My displays (both driven by a 2080ti) are: - Acer X34P (120Hz, 3440x1440, 21:9) - Asus VG248 (60Hz, 1080x1920, 16:9) The coupler only works with the Asus but I need it for the Acer. I tried using another cable as an extension, set it to Hz 60 and deactivated G-sync but nothing worked sofar. Simply restarting the pc or using just one Diplay doesn't work either. I haven't tried truning the resolution down but that wouldn't be a good solution anyway. Maybe you have some ideas on how to get it to work. Thank you very much!

Hello all, I am having a bit of trouble with my displays. I have two Scepter M25s and an RTX 3060Ti, but my GPU only has 1 HDMI output. In the past I have run both displays off of DP, but with DP my monitors decided to randomly go black before popping back to life. They repeatedly would do this until I unplugged the DP cable from the monitor and plugged it back in. Everything at that point would usually work fine for a day or two or until I restarted my machine. This frustrated the crap out of me so I switched one monitor to HDMI and have the other is connected to HDMI via a DP to HDMI adaptor: no issues with blacking out. This brings me to my problem. My monitor that is connected via the converter is limited to 60Hz when I know the cable and monitor both support 1080p at 144Hz on HDMI. What can I do to run my second display at a full 144Hz? I think I need a better adaptor, but many do not say what refresh rates they support on the box or in marketing materials, and its not as simple as looking for the spec of the cable. Can someone pleas provide me some recommendations on adaptors or teach me how to identify the product I need? Thanks in advance, Tim

I need an USB-C hub which connects to my USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 with DP 1.4 port. The Displayport is the most important thing from everything else but I would also need multiple USB-A ports for peripherals and other stuff. The DP should be capable of 1080p at 144 Hz (or 120 Hz im still deciding(or 1440p 120 Hz)).

Hi everyone! So I have this problem, I want to hook up my old monitor which has only 1 hdmi in port. And I have a displayport cables option only, because other ports including hdmi out on gpu are occupied. While browsing for a simple adapter, I can't seem to find any that would give me ability to plug in my existing dp cable to one end, and plug hdmi cable to other end and connect it with my monitor. No such thing? Why?

Hey guys, I just got my new monitor which is a 1080 144hz display. I have another 144hz display which used to work just fine with 144hz enabled, but since ive connected this new one it wont work. Its connected via DP and I can select 144hz but its not working, its quite obviously not running at 144, it seems to be running at around 60hz. I've connected my old monitor now via HDMI and I can select 144hz on that one too, but the picture goes all funny and dark and cut off so I assume it has something to do with the HDMI I have not pushing about power through, which is fine. I just want my new 144hz monitor to display at 144hz, im happy for the other to sit at 60hz, as my new one is my main display My GPU is a 1060 OC 6gb if that is required info. And the monitor is a BENQ Mobiuz EX2510 Thanks for any help!

I was looking to buy DP 1.4 cables, and I saw the most popular are nylon braided, afaik nylon burns really well, are these cables safe, or how would they compare to usual ones in the fire safety aspect ?

Apologies if this has been posted in the wrong place. I have recently built a pc with the below specs. - AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Processor - Corsair VENGEANCE LPX 16GB RAM - ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING AMD Ryzen AM4 ATX Motherboard - Cooler Master MWE 650 Bronze-V2 Power Supply - Crucial P1 1 TB CT1000P1SSD8 Internal Hard Drive - Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 Super WINDFORCE OC 3x 8G Graphics Card - GIGABYTE G32QC Curved 31.5" VA 1500R QHD Monitor - PHANTEKS Eclipse P400A Midi-Tower Case All parts are brand new. I’m unable to get any signal from the 3 DP ports in the graphics card (or the one on the MoBo) or the HDMI from the graphics card or the MoBo. This was working previously after a few restarts, but I’ve had to transport the pc to a different location (therefore unplugging everything) and now I’m having the same issue. I’ve already tried to remove the RAM and re-enter it as this was previously recommended. I’ve also tried multiple resets. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi! I just got a new monitor to use as a 2nd, it's a Dell P2222H. My GPU is an iGame RTX3060. My 1st monitor only has HDMI connection and my GPU only has 1 HDMI output so, I connected the 2nd monitor through a DisplayPort. Now, the quality is very bad. I've tested the Dell with HDMI and looks ok, so, is there a chance that it's just a bad DP cable that makes the image looks so bad? I have every driver updated. Thanks! (in the images, the one that has a black background is the good looking one)

I've been googling this but so far no solution. PC was working fine earlier, shut it down and left the house. Came back home powered on and I get "No Signal". So I turn it off and back on, unplug and replug both ends of the DP cable, etc. Still No Signal. I also tried the other 2 DP ports on the GPU, no bueno. Finally I tried an old HDMI cable and tada! its working fine. I went out and bought a new DP cable, it doesn't work either. Asus VG248QE monitor Gigabyte G1 gaming GTX970 Fully up to date Windows 11 and graphics drivers. What am I missing here? I don't have a spare monitor or GPU to swap for testing purposes. Anything else I can try to resolve this? Thanks in advance

Hey peeps, I have one of those early G-Sync monitors that only have one displayport output but i've been working from home from my laptop and want to use my main monitor that is connected to my gaming tower as a second display. I don't want do disconnect the cable everytime, so, is there such a thing as a DP splitter that I can as an input changer? If so, can you guys recommend one? Cheers

Hello Friends, For some reason, as soon as I switch my PC to 120Hz, my screen displays a "no signal" message. Help me figure out why? My video card has one HDMI 2.1 port and two 1.4a display ports. Everything works fine when I use the HDMI cable with the HDMI ports on the PC and LGC2. However, I recently got a 1.4a to HDMI 2.1 cable and I get the error when I switch to 120Hz. I need the LGC2 on the display port so I can connect a second screen which only has HDMI. Hardware: LGC2 6900 XT HDMI 2.1 Cable DP 1.4a to HDMI 2.1 Cable

So I been having this No DP signal not found where it's a black screen and nothing shows but no signal message. This would pop up every 15 mins to a few hours. I have done these methods already with no result. Pc (All brand new parts btw) -CPU: Reyzen 5 5600 - Videocard: Gigabye AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT - Powersupply: RM 750 Gold plus - Restarting windows - Updating the latest drivers and windows updates - Taking out and re-plugging the DP cable - Uninstalling and reinstalling the driver - Using Brand New HDMI cables - Factory resetting the driver - Made sure the cables are secure in place Even without the driver in the pc it will still keep on displaying the no signal screen. I even tried switching my monitor to a tv and it will do the same thing, so I know it's not the monitors fault but the pc itself. I'm trying to wonder if it's like a RAM problem or that it's the graphics card in general that has a malfunction. Again this happens at random and I don't believe the wires are a cause to the problem cause the cables are plug in tight and I made sure to as well that the cables are neatly inside the slot. It's very strange, even most of my friends think it's weird that this is happening. Please help..

Hardware: - Windows 10 Pro 64bit - CPU: Ryzen 3700x - GPU: RTX 2070 Super - RAM: G.SKILL F4-3200C16D-32GVK - MB: Asus Prime X570-P - Monitor 1 (Primary): Asus VG279Q - Monitor 2: Asus VE278Q When every I wake my computer from a proper sleep (not a screen sleep) the displays flicker on / off about 4 - 5 times. I've updated drivers and tried with different cables, but it always happens. I have the main display (running at 144 hz) connected to the GPU with a DP cable, and the secondary monitor hooked up to the GPU with an HDMI cable. The 2nd monitor runs at 60 hz. Could the difference in refresh rate be causing the issue, or the fact that one is hooked up via DP and the other HDMI?

I am confused af right now I recently purchased an AORUS FI27Q monitor with the specs shown here https://www.gigabyte.com/Monitor/AORUS-FI27Q/sp#sp. I know this has x2 HDMI 2.0 ports with x1 Displayport 1.2. I have been confused on how this works cause I only have a MacBook Pro 15 2019 running 10.15.4 to test it on right now. PC broke down, no money to get a new yet. Over the past weeks, I’ve been doing a lot of research on the differences between HDMI and DP, and HDMI itself has many versions, trying to trouble shoot some issues I have with the monitor. Two main issues: Weird flickering that happens anywhere, chrome, safari, Sketch (design program) etc… I can confirm it happens only within the window of the program. Please see the video attached (its near the end you can see a section of the screen flickers once). It seems like it only does it when its loading something that isn’t cached. Color differences between HDMI and DP ———— I have tested the monitor with multiple adapters and cables and this is what I have found so far: I have tested two different high speed HDMI cables with adapters, on two of the ports on the monitor and experienced the same flickering issue with the MacBook Pro 15. However, I didn’t experience any issues with my PS4 with the cable directly attached without any adapters. This makes me wonder is it the adapter problem? Adapter used https://www.amazon.ca/Adapter-CHOETECH-Thunderbolt-Compatible-Resolution/dp/B01M6C49X2/ref=sr_1_11?keywords=hdmi+to+usb.+adapter&qid=1589310432&s=electronics&sr=1-11 I couldn’t find any high speed HDMI (M) to type C (M) cables on the net. I am hoping this would resolve the issue above. I recently purchased an adapter DP (F) to type C (M) https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07G5FQJ9N/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A13DZYMSEFNTTD&psc=1 Weird thing is: my MacBook Pro showed HDR check box with DP cable and it didnt show it with my HDMI cables. Based on what I found HDMI 2.0 is capable of HDR if I dont turn on HDR with the DP, colours are washed out, pretty much same colour as the MacBook Pro display if I turn HDR on with the DP, colours look exactly like with HDMI cable My confusion, did the HDMI cable have HDR turned on by default but the system doesnt seem to show the option? If this is correct, HDMI 2.0 is better than DP 1.2, because I am able to turn on both HDR on by default and 144Hz refresh rate. The only down side is I won’t be able to get 165Hz with HDMI 2.0 where as DP1.2 can support it. Then again i dont think I will be able to turn on 165Hz with HDR on with DP 1.2. I am waiting for a new DP adapter to test it out as the previous one was crap. Is this a cable problem or the monitor? How should I go forward from here? Thanks in advance. IMG_0612.mov

Need some assistance before i chuck my monitor out the window. Everything worked fine on my second monitor then today. NOTHING. The monitor powers on and displays no signal detected (I've tried swapping the cables and booting it up with just that monitor plugged in still have the same issue) Windows display settings and Nvidia settings detect the monitor but windows says it isn't active and Nvidia wont let me tick the box on setup multiple displays. Booted the pc up in safe mode... All pops up fine in 680x480 resolution and can access the monitor settings now. But still nothing when I load the pc back up normally! Main monitor ROG PG348q Second monitor XB280HK GPU 180TI Any help is much appreciated.

Just built my first PC the other day and I'm trying to get my monitor to use it's displayport. I know that this monitor is capable of doing so as it's been connected as a second monitor through the use of a DP to MiniDP cable to my laptop However I'm at a total loss. While the DP to DP cable I purchased works as intended, the monitor itself will not display images. Using the NVIDIA Control panel and even the normal OS's display settings, it's showing the monitor as plugged in but it's still unable to be used For basic info I'm running on an: RYZEN 5 3600X on a TUF B450 Gaming Plus Motherboard 32GBs of RAM GeForce Nvidia RTX 2070 Super 750 W 80plus Gold PowerSpec As an added bonus, gathering any necessary screenshots of my PC specs, I found out that both screens are being captured and still the monitor won't turn on. I've tried multiple solutions such as installing / reinstalling drivers, unplugging the monitor and replugging it as well as the system itself, adjusted power supply settings, etc. I'm at a total loss, can anyone please assist? My main goal is to free up the one HDMI slot off my monitor to allow for my capture card to be plugged in (HD60S elgato). Disregard this line. Im just an idiot and forgot that the elgato just needed a usb slot and that the HDMIs are between the tv and consoles I'm currently using my CINTIQ as a main monitor just to see if I can get a better visual on how to get my primary noticed, but no luck yet. I have a hdmi to DP cable coming in to see if maybe that will work but I won't know for certain till later on this week or so. If anyone has any tips, alternatives, anything please help. It's much appreciated.

Hello, I recently bought the Dell U2414H display because I wanted to try the MST daisy chain. I have tested it with the Dell U2715H and this work great. I am now looking for a DisplayPort to hdmi adapter for the end of the daisy chain as the last screen. I already have try 3 adapter, active and passive, but none are working. The last one I tested is this one DP2HD4KS active with "displayport 1.2" but no luck. Would you have a clue of what adapter would work ? or is this even possible ? Regards, Nicolas BERTRAND

Hey guys, I'm planning to do something similar as in this video is shown: But as I was thinking, I came to a conclusion it could be done with less wires to the computer. With HDMI you can transport video and audio, but I also want data transfer: DisplayPort. After a little bit of searching on the internet I came to a conlusion (ones again) that there isn't such a thing as a DisplayPort (female) to HDMI (female) and USB (female). Is there a way to make such a thing like that. Or is there a website that sell this and I didn't manage to find it? Thanks in advance!
