TLDR; Random crashing that I cant fix by any means of software, and cannot pinpoint possible bad component. I need help, because I have no clue what to try at this point. I recently upgraded my PC from a i7 9700k & 3080 (And other necessary components) to: CPU: i9 14900k (Mounted w/Thermal Grizzly contact frame. "Torqued" to exact spec) GPU: MSI 3080 Gaming Trio Mobo: MSI Z690 Force Wifi Memory: x2 32gb Gskill trident Z5 DDR5 6600 *I added another set of this same memory kit post build* PSU: 1600w EVGA SuperNova Storage: 2 M.2 SSDs (Samsung), 1 SATA SSD, and 2 HDDs (existing). *Boot on M.2 980 Pro* Cooling & Fans: Lian li galahad 2, x6 Corsair SP120s. Along with this upgrade I did a completely fresh windows install and upgraded to windows 11. When playing most games that aren't very low demand like Lethal Company, I experience random crashes at random points. These crashes range in errors but most frequent being ones from UE5/4 games (Alan Wake 2, The Finals, EA WRC, etc..) , the following are the descriptions from crash reports & event viewer. Along with an occasional BSOD, but never while playing a game, only when on desktop doing non-performance intensive processes. MISSING_ANGELSCRIPT_CALLSTACK EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION LowLevelFatalError Aftermath GPU Crash dump Triggered DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED BSOD: Memory_Management Among some " GPU Memory exceeded " or similar in Overwatch 2 randomly. These crashes typically do not happen in graphic intensive sections or have any trigger, my temperatures are never excessively high. These are the things I have tried to far to no avail: DDU GPU Driver fix, multiple times. Updating Bios, chipset, and any manufacturer driver under that applies. SFC Scan, fixed once, after that always says no errors. Different graphics settings (Running in D3D12/11, vsync on/off, hardware acceleration on/off etc..) XMP Enabled/Disabled I do not overclock but ensured no overclocking through MSI Click bios Memtest86+ Received fails on 1st test, no change. Tested each stick by itself with multiple passes, no errors, then all 4 together again- no errors. I have a hunch that it could be the memory, because as stated before I initially bought x1 32gb Gskill trident Z5 kit, then bought another of the exact same kit. I do now know that this shouldn't be done and if I wanted 64gb it should be from the same kit- but doing Memtest86+ resulted in no errors. My next step will likely be Clean windows install, and seeing if that makes a difference. If not, then RMAing Ram, Motherboard, then CPU. If anyone has any suggestions or if you are having issues like this please drop your specs and what you have tried. Thanks.

Hello friends, overnight a strange bug occurred to me ONLY IN THIS game (dx12), all others, including dx12 are normal. I already installed old drivers via DDU, I already reinstalled the game several times, I already reinstalled directx12 and nothing solves it, I haven't formatted it yet. I came to ask if anyone knows how this error is called for a search or if anyone knows a solution. Thx for help.

My brother sent me some videos of his new laptop, he noticed that some games had graphic bugs or would crash if he changed the rendering options. To be more specific: Fortnite will experience graphic bugs running on DirectX 11, will crash with DirectX 12 and work fine on Performance Mode; Planet Zoo shows strange lines stretching from everywhere; Astroneer has rendering issues with clouds. WhatsApp Video 2023-04-14 at 10.01.22 PM.mp4 WhatsApp Video 2023-04-14 at 10.32.53 PM.mp4 After updating drivers (Even a clear install) and not solving the issue, I thought it could be a dying GPU. I ran 3DMark and Heaven just to be sure that nothing more was happening and noticed that Heaven ran with zero problems, showing no glitches and everything else was fine. 3DMark, on the other hand, crashed with the DirectX12 test, while the DX11 had zero problems. Could it be DirectX? He downloaded Hades, Metro and Doom 2016 (all Vulkan games) and no problems at all. His laptop specs are: Gigabyte G5 * Intel 11400H * 8 GB RAM * RTX 3050Ti (latest drivers), Nvidia configuration set to use GPU by default. Any idea on what's happening or solutions?

I need help... pretty much any game I run with Dx12 Renderer games crash after minutes of playing... I had zero issues before. I even uninstalled the GPU driver with DDU and reinstalled GPU Driver and it didn't work. Even did a BIOS update hoping it may fix it, but it didn't work on Dx11 games run fine, but on Dx12 it crashes constantly. I never had such a thing before and it is annoying because some games run more smoothly than on Dx11. I had my GPU overclocked and after constant crashes, toned down my overclock and it still crashed... I would really appreciate the help... (sorry for bad english) My PC Specs: GPU: MSI RTX 2070 SUPER Gaming X Trio CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700x RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 16GB 3200mhz Motherboard: ROG Strix B550-F Gaming

Hello! So I recently built a new PC with a 3080FE & 5900x, WOO! I've been having some issues with drivers though, and can't find any solutions online, so any help would be much appreciated! So when playing games I've been crashing roughly every ~30mins? In valorant (my main game atm) 4/5 of the time it will come up with the error message "Graphics drivers crashed" and 1/5 of the time it will crash and disappear without an error message whatsoever. I've tried everything with my graphics drivers (that I can think of), from updating, reinstalling and clean install. I had some issues with my ram causing occasioonal BSOD (Whea errors overload also at XMP), so I RMA'd it and i'm still waiting for it to be sent back, for now i'm using my old PC's ram set (also a little dodgy, but it works for now). My MSI afterburner used to work fine, but I tried running it today, and it came up with this error message: So I started investigating how to reinstall DX12, but I can't seem to find a way to reinstall it, which lead me to running the SFC scanner, and It found some issues which weren't able to be fixed apparently? Here's what the output said: I've attatched the CBS log below, since I've never used this before, I have no idea how to read or find the issues in that log. If anyone who knows how to find the errors, I would greatly appreciate your time assisting me! Thank you very much! CBS.log

Hey, Recently when turning on my PC I get the following image every time on startup. Notice that this only happens once Windows is loaded and never in any other occasion. I have been running this 3080 since July and whenever I try to run any game with DirectX12 enabled, it will crash after a few 10-30 minutes of gameplay. Every Single Time. I have tried reinstalling the graphics drivers multiple times without any actual solution, some of the latest drivers give me 5-10+ minutes of gameplay but crashing still continues. Also, when running some applications like Unity and Unreal Engine, other tabs and the taskbar sometimes become of different colors, as if the graphic drivers had not been installed and it were using the default Microsoft drivers for running video signals. Any ideas on what could be going on here? Also, I have already tried all different ports & connections of the Graphics card and Monitors, and the issue is replicable on every situation. Just posting this here in case anyone has seen something similar in the past and can provide any ideas. I will probably try reinstalling windows and see if that fixes the issue, but I am running out of options at this point. (I will upload pictures of the taskbar and similar behaviors described above once I have the chance). Also this has been happening in Windows 10 & Windows 11. Also here are some of the device specs: - GPU: GIGABYTE RTX 3080 GAMING OC 10G - CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X - MOBO: ASUS ROG STRIX B550-I GAMING - RAM: 64 GB Corsair Vengeance @3200MHz

It’s been 3-4 days since this has started, and I’m kinda freaking out. Dxdiag shows but reports no problems found: Direct3D DDi: unknown feature levels: blank Direct3D accelerator: unavailable/unknown Ive so far clean installed my graphics drivers, clean installed my C++ redistributables, and constantly check if my windows is up to date. All of those plus restarting fixes the issue until 30 minutes go by and certain games crash and even freeze my computer. It’s made some games unplayable because loading screens result in crashing. As a far as I know I can’t clean install dx12 and dx12 runs older versions of directx. So compatibility shouldn’t be an issue, yet specifically the game Hunt Showdown is the main culprit, crashing constantly, which coincidentally doesn’t support dx12. However out of my 1.7k hour playtime this hasn’t happened before. I’m at a complete loss of what to do.

To start us off, I never had any issues with DX12 until about 3 or 4 months ago. Since then Anytime I boot up a game using DX12 FPS drops and I have this abhorrent lag. Before anyone asks, this goes for all DX12 games. Fortnite, Necromunda, Black ops Cold War. Even Warframe in DirectX12 mode. Anyone know of a fix? I'm stumped. Looking this issue up I found the semi well known Control fix, Where you turn off Control Flow guard. This did not work. and yes for the games that run Direct X11 aswell in that API they run perfectly fine. and for the ones who need to know CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X GPU: RTX 2080 Super RAM: 32 GB 3600MHz Corsair Vengeance Pro

So, if a graphics card says that its supported DirectX feature level is DirectX 12 (11_0), what does that mean? (The card in question is a GTX 580 3gb if needed.)

Good day to all the wise people off the Linus Forums. I would like to know. Does the Intel Celeron J1900 supports Direct X 12? We are a Point Of Sale company, this means a lot of cheap AIO's that just need to run Windows 10, our POS software & remote support software. Almost all our AIO's are Celerons J1900's with 4GB of RAM & 64GB SSD & they run pretty fine. The problem is that Windows 10 stops support in 2025, so we will have to get them all on to Windows 11. The PC's do meet the minimum system requirements, except that Window’s 11 needs DX12 support. I have looked, but can’t find any mansion of DX support on the J1900. If they don’t, then we will have to replace a couple of hundred PCs in the next four years. My second question would be, what integrated Intel GPU's does support DX12 & would Intel make an equivalent low-end CPU that does by then? "Windows 11 will also require your setup to have at least a 9-inch display output with a 720p resolution and your system must have support for DirectX 12 graphics or WDDM2.x. A report by XDA Developers also suggests that your laptop will need to have a precision touchpad to be eligible for the Windows 11 update.”: Source Thanks in advance

I have been experiencing crashes on certain games that is still happening even after swapping some hardware. I was originally running : i5 6600k GTX 1070 16GB 2400mhz Corsair Vengeance Asus Z170-P M.2 SSD 128GB SSD 1TB HDD Unbranded 500W PSU I had no issues with this and still experience no issues. The games i play like COD Modern Warfare and Shadow of the Tomb Raider (Both DX12,i'll go into more detail on this later) run smoothly, don't crash, sometimes COD stutters but that is because the CPU is getting maxed out. I then upgraded to : Ryzen 7 3800x GTX 1070 (From Original setup) 16GB 2400mhz Corsair Vengeance (From Original setup) MSI B450 Tomahawk M.2 SSD (From Original setup) 128GB SSD (From Original setup) 1TB HDD (From Original setup) 650W EVGA Power Supply I now crash in COD and tomb raider. Other games such as CSGO work as normal. Standard day to day use causes no issues, all runs smoothly. Only games like cod and tomb raider crash. I have narrowed this down to DX12 causing me to crash on this system. Switching tomb raider to DX11 fixes the crashes , however COD doesn't have the option to change DirectX version. The crash error codes from COD are useless and when Tomb Raider crashes it says "dxgi_error_device_removed". When COD crashes it also sometimes crashes the graphics driver. It seems that there is some sort of issue with the graphics driver crashing in DX12. However the GPU works fine in the old setup. I also swapped out the PSU to the one in the old setup and i still get the crashes. I have also tried installing all latest drivers and a fresh install of windows. Today i brought a new motherboard thinking that maybe the motherboard PCIE slot is the issue. I purchased a Asus TUF Gaming X570. I used everything from the previous setup and i still have the issue. The only thing that it can now be is the CPU as i know everything else works fine unless i have been given a second faulty motherboard. So it is either the CPU or possibly the ram? Maybe ryzen doesnt like the 2400mhz kit i have, i don't know whether ram can cause these kind of errors. If you have any idea on what is going on here please let me know, it is so frustrating having these games crash especially when more games are going to start using DX12. Final situation : Ryzen 7 3800x Asus TUF Gaming X570 Motherboard GTX 1070 16GB 2400Mhz Corsair Vengeance RAM 650W EVGA PSU 1TB M.2 SSD 128GB SSD 1TB HDD Everything is at default, fresh windows install, latest drivers, latest bios. DirectX 12 games are crashing. Normal system use is perfect. I ruled out it being the PSU, Motherboard, GPU, Storage. The one item i haven't changed is the CPU but i have a feeling it could also be the RAM not liking ryzen for some reason.

As of march 2017 does Grand Theft Auto have a directx 12 (DX12), option? YES OR NO. Thanks!

So I downloaded the latest update for The Division last night that enables the DirectX12. I was interested to see the difference in performance so I proceeded to the Benchmark tool and the result was a average frame rate of 85FPS on ultra settings with DirectX11. I enabled DX12 restarted the game client and reran the benchmark and my my average FPS when up to 110FPS. I was surprised and as this is a benchmark I played for a couple of hours and the game consistently maintained a a frame rate of about 105 to 110 which where previously it was around 80 even when it gets extremely "busy" with large mobs and explosions. It also felt much smoother than it previously did. What is the experience in the rest of the community I would love to hear your feedback. My Rig Currently for reference: Gigabyte G1 Sniper Z87 MOBO i7 4790k 16 GB Ram Asus Strix GTX1080 8GB Corsair H100i GTX Cooler

Wow, I just bought a Rx 5700 a month ago It cost me around 450$ and you want to tell me that I don't get DirectX 12_2 Features? not to mention Nvidia is going released turning updates!!! Microsoft Adds DirectX 12 Feature-level 12_2, and Turing, Ampere and RDNA2 Support it I am so disappointed from AMD RED TEAM... You guys screwing us again and again, and for what, for money? You developed RDNA1 With Xbox and PS5 and left Ray Tracing out So that you could charge us again after 1 year on gen2!! at least learn from Nvidia if u want consumer to pay prices that high out of respect for your business give us support for two years for New Features like "Hardware Scheduling Ray Tracing and Direct12_x" !!! You are the One's that killing the Pc Hardware Industry and gaming Industry and I am in my late 30's... It is a shame that every time the community needs to get evolve and beg for updates... I will give you a reminder next year is 2021 and new player comes to town and it's name is "Intel". The way it looks right now even RDNA2 will fall behind Nvidia and Intel in 2021!!! https://www.guru3d.com/news_story/microsoft_adds_directx_12_feature_level_12_2and_turingampere_and_rdna2_support_it.html

I've got both a GTX960 and a GTX770. As everyone knows, you can't put those cards in an SLI-config. But I've seen a few vids on YT where people let even an AMD and an NVIDIA GPU work together. My question: how is this possible and can I do it too? I've read something about DirectX 12, but I don't really understand how it works...

Hi everyone, I was just wondering does the - ASUS ROG GeForce GTX 1070 STRIX-GTX1070-O8G-GAMING 8GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready Video Card Support Direct X12? This may be a incredibly dumb question but I have looked on the official site and multiple online retailers, and I cant find any specifications that it does support DX12. Any help would be great! Thank you!

I had some free time tonight, so I ran some tests. here are some results from my setup; setup: * i5-4690k @4.5GHz * R9 290 @1100MHz * 2x8GB DDR3 (16GBs) @2133MHz * ASRock Z97 Fatal1ty * Corsair RM750 * SSD for Windows(10), HDD (7200rpm) for games (All settings are defaults, unedited; AA=FXAA, vsync=enabled, double buffer) Vsync=disabled: I ran some of these benchmarks twice because I didn't believe the numbers for Dx11; min of 20fps on lowest settings? oke. overall the performance has improved in some areas of the game. However, the same problem persists for me. the minimum FPS' are coming from areas of the game where, if you stare, your FPS drops and does not go back up until you leave / look away from the area. Needless to say the benchmark does not represent real-world experience. my own personal experience is shitty with this game. I don't like the way my frames dip to mid 40's on medium settings while camping or questing, given the hardware I have. not the best, but should be enough for 1080p@60fps without these annoying dips. Have you bought the game? how is your experience / hardware setup? edit; I didn't run 'very high' benchmarks because of vram (4GB) game tells me it requires more so I didn't run the tests. I don't own 1440p/4k monitors so I don't game on them. thats why no 1440p/4k benches. also, I have no idea why the benchmark gave me lower min-scores after disabling vsync, but there you have it.

I have been debating lately about Windows 10 and DirectX12 as I am about to buy a new GPU sometime soon. Here is the thing: DirectX12 is exclusive to Windows 10 last I checked, and it will not be until later this year that DirectX12 will be fully compatible with the new video cards from AMD and Nvidia. My question is, what does everyone think of Windows 10 itself? As in, how it operates and stuff like that. I have heard that the automatic updates can be very aggravating and that some software currently doesn't work on Win10 (DS4Windows, anyone?). I know that I have an older brother who recently bought a PC with Win10 on it, and he was installing some of the older games of his onto his PC via CD, and it was taking forever for the games to install. He doesn't know what the problem is, and he and I doubt that the DVD drive is THAT slow at installing games. The above are only some of the reasons I have for being conflicted about upgrading to Win10 atm. Are the above just unfortunate happenings, or would it be a good idea to just use anything other than Windows 10 at this point in time?

Planning on getting Windows 10 for my build I'm getting at Christmas time. I'm getting a GTX 1070 with a i5-6600 and I was wondering if DirectX 12 was worth it for Windows 10 with it's issues. I currently have Windows 10 for my laptop that I've been using for gaming for the past year and I've grown to like it. I really like the apps that come with it and the apps that are in the Windows Store like Mail and News. The only problem I have with it is how unstable it has been for me and I was wondering if maybe I should just get Windows 7 for now. My drivers and other programs (i.e. Google Chrome) stop working for whatever reason and most of the time the problem comes back to Windows 10 having an issue. My wireless adapter would stop working because Windows 10 would stop realizing that there was a driver to run the adapter, the CPU usage due to Cortana and other Windows 10 things that have to run is insane, etc. I could upgrade to Windows 10 at some other time later in the years when DX12 becomes more popular and is used more often in games but I was wondering if I should just get it now if there was a benefit. I was planning on playing Rise of the Tomb Raider when I get this PC too if that runs better on DX12 or something. Any thoughts?

Hello, According to this Intel presentation DirectX12 should boost Intel Integrated Graphics performance dramatically. https://software.intel.com/sites/default/files/managed/4a/38/Efficient-Rendering-with-DirectX-12-on-Intel-Graphics.pdf The only DX12 test that i'm aware of is 3DMark API Overhead Test, but it's not included to the free Basic Edition. Also, i couldn't find any testing results on the Internet. Can someone help me with that? Maybe someone with 3DMark licence can test it on Intel Iris 5100 GPU?
