So I 'updated' by Nvidia graphics driver on my Gigabyte GTX 1070 G1 to the latest version 375.70 due to GeForce Experience promoted me to. Everything was working fine prior to the update but now I get a strange pixel-like flicker/artefacts across the screen, particularly noticeable withing EA Origin due to the dark background and get it within web pages too sometimes. Oh, and Battlefield throws up a DirectX error too now, just add the cherry on top, but as the pixel flickering happens outside of the game, DirectX isn't the primary cause.Nothing has been done by myself such as overclocking, still set to factory default overclock. Here's a video to demonstrate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zq4HrBO2FaA Battlefield 1 refuses to even start now despite no issues before, Mafia 3 runs but displays the flickering pixels in-game then crashes, while Need for Speed 2015 will get to the options screen at least, but flickering still present. I've tried uninstalling the drivers. Installing the 2 previous older driver revisions. Turned off Origin In-Game chat. Turned DSR off (ran flawlessly previously) Changed Nvidia power mode to Adaptive and back. Connected monitor via HDMI and display port but issue present with both. Aside from this and hours of trawling the internet, I've no idea what else to try. So I assume that somehow the driver update has changed something at a hardware level that would seem to be irreversible. I've also since researching found out there there is a potential issue with the memory on the 1070 if you have Micron GDDR5 (mine does as shwon in GPU-Z), would this be the cause? I don't really know enough about this fault to make the link and all seemed to be good prior to the driver update. Anyone have any ideas's or experienced this themselves and fixed/resolved the issue?

I want to play some of my older steam games that will not run on windows 10 as they use dx9. is is there a way for me to get dx9 on windows 10? will it help my old games? will it interfere with dx11 games? can a 1070 run with dx9? edit: they will run, but they will only run 6fps on low settings 1080p on gtx 1070, 16GB RAM, and i7 6700k 4.8GHz

Hello, Lets get this out of the way, I know I'd be better off for gaming with 9900k. I know Threadripper isn't the best choice for a gaming rig. I've been building AMD since the first 64-bit and I'm stubborn and not that bright. I've been having this problem for over a year now attempting over-clocking for Threadripper. First attempt: - TR 1950X - enermax liqtech tr4 - ASUS Zenith Extreme - Corsair Vengence LPX 3600mhz CL16 - Zotac GTX 1080 The overclocking on all cores seemed stable for 4.0ghz. Cinebench was stable and would give me 3400-3600. However, enabling DOCP for 3600mhz was incredibly unstable. No surprise there, I've read forums and I've never seen anyone stable at 3600mhz. But I tried every speed above 2133mhz and up and every time, I'm running Final Fantasy 14 or Monster Hunter World. Final Fantasy crashes with Fatal Direct X Error. Monster hunter artifacts and becomes immediately un-stable. All games failing showing Direct X crash. So, flash forward: - TR 2950X - ASUS Zenith Extreme Alpha - Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 3200mhz CL14 - ASUS Strix RTX 2080ti OC - ASUS Ryujin 360 Overclocking 4.2Ghz, Cinebench is running stable but I'm using the R20 scoring 6970-7564. The behavior is the same, every-time enabling DOCP 3200mhz. Final Fantasy 14 "Fatal Direct X Error". Anthem gives a similar Direct X based error. Some times stalls and the game hangs up the system and requires reboot. I think that I've tracked it down to memory or the DOCP profile. Maybe better off Intel, maybe better off G.Skill Trident Z. I've tried upping the SoC voltage to 1.15 and 1.2. Is there anything I'm missing? Anyone have any information or forums that I've missed for the ZE Alpha? Thank you

Hey guys, So i just built a new pc and for some reason i can't player the new Cod and Apex Legends at all on it without them crashing with a direct X error. I've tried all the mentions that i can find online - I have the latest NVIDIA drivers tried to make sure all my other drivers are up to date (and tried uninstalling and reinstalling them), tried deleting and reinstalling direct X 12, but no matter what i seem to try i cant get these games to work. Does anyone have any ideas on anything else i could try/ what could be likely culprits? I'm struggling here and it's really starting to bug me as i can't play either game without getting crashes. I've attached a dxdiag of my system incase anyone would like to know what I have: DxDiag.txt Any help at this stage would be greatly appreciated!! If i can give any other info that would be of use please do let me know. Edit: so somehow it has actually managed to get worse and now the only two other games that i've played so far on my new pc (escape from tarkov and halo reach) have also crashed today ???

Heyy Guys, There already are multiple topics about some games crashing with AMD DirectX drivers, either in Crossfire or in Single-Mode, especially in the R9-Card-Range. First my specs: CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K at 4.1 GHz GPU: Sapphire R9 Fury Tri-X (4GB) STORAGE: 2 x SSD, one Samsung Evo 256 GB (new), the other OCZ Vertex 512 GB (old). RAM: 4x4 GB Corsair "DOMINATOR DDR4" MB: ASUS Z170-DELUXE PSU: Cooler Master V650 CPU-COOLER: Cooler Master MasterLiquid 120 My temps are totally chilly, and I have got 5 case fans. My CPU is not very overclocked and runs stable all the time. The TDP of the Fury is not much more than approx. 200 W . The problem is the following: I start GTA V. Everything is perfect. Loading story mode. It jumps to Franklin, and I play around for 2, 3 or even up to 10 Minutes. Suddenly, the screen freezes for 2 secs and the all-mighty Windows UAC screams "Grand Theft Auto V has stopped working" It is just crap. The event viewer just shows: And sometimes (the name of the thread is because of that): And here is what I tried to do: Reinstalled graphics drivers (crimson) Updated ~ Reinstalled Windows Installed original graphics drivers from Sapphire (2015 lol #CATALYST) Tried 8199235782 fixes that were available on the internet. I AM SO SORRY TO BOTHER YOU WITH THIS BUT GTA V IS MY SECOND FAVORITE GAME. And I am sorry to bother you with this shit, but be sure, I wouldn't be here if I didn't try out all the fixes out there. Would you please, please help me? EDIT: The game is a legal copy of GTA V, it is the Social Club release.

A few days ago I was playing Fable 1 on max settings with no issue... Upgraded to windows 10 and the game won't run above 2 fps on the lowest settings... I am assuming this is an API issue with direct X 12 and Fable being a 2005 release doesn't support DX12 and am wondering how to fix it. Correct me if my hypothesis is incorrect and also some help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I've been pulling my hair out about this issue for weeks now. Every time I launch a game, I can hear the game background music and all, but the screen just goes black. I can alt-tab out of it, and run games in windowed mode, but full screen seems to be broken. I'm running a laptop with and nvidia gt 635M and and i7-2670QM I have tried to update drivers, reinstalled drivers and have even tried every older driver version, but without luck So is there anyone who has had this issue before and would like to help me out?

Most if not all newer games required Minimum DX11. Even Fifa 15 required DX11. So in order to play decent games in the future, are you forced to upgrade? GPU's like the good old 280 GTX, or HD 4870 still do perform okay at 1080p in most games though.

Hy guys I noticed today that firing ets 2 with Direct x its much faster in terms of fps and looks better then with Open GL. I have a amd card and I thought that Open GL works better with amd cards. with Direct X I get steady 64 fps and gpu loads goes from 75 to 100% but it is pretty consistent and v ram is used like 1.5 gb with Open GL I get 40 fps very jumpy from 64 to 37 and gpu load is not consistent jumping a lot from 55 to 100% and v ram used 700 to 1000 mb Im on the latest drivers both game and GPU and the GPU is a asus strix 390 oc running on 4k

Hi everyone, I'm wondering if I can "downgrade" from DirectX version 12 to version 11 because I've just installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 and it automatically installed DirectX 12 for me on my system which has a 750 Ti. So far, I've seen some bits of benefits here and there, but overall, it's causing some issues, especially with DirectX hang in BF4. Is there a way that I can go back to DirectX 11 for now or at least force the programs I want to use DX11? Thanks.

Hi there yesterday i completely rebuild my gaming rig, clean it, install clean windows 7 pro, all new drivers and then first game. Guess which one GTA V. And than something strange happens. Just look at the screen-shot I have 2 way SLI Asus Strix GTX780 each one 6GB of memory, but some how they combine my video memory from both cards. So it not only on DX12 i did it on DX11

I'm planning to upgrade to windows 8.1, so will directx 12 be available for that as well or is it only for windows 10?

So I recently "upgraded" my ASUS GTX 560 TI to an RADEON HD 6870, and everything went smoothly and stuff, played a few games etc and i realized that I needed to uninstall my NVIDIA drives (Already had AMD Catalyst installed), which I did, GeForce Experience, drivers all uninstalled. Then suddenly all of my Steam games bar a few (CS:GO being one of them) crash on me, mostly with different errors but all relating back to Direct X. I have it all installed and stuff. Any ideas on the issue here? I already tried deleting a game / reinstalling it. Would really appreciate any help, thanks guys.

I heard DX11.2 will only be available on Windows 8.1 and Xbox One.........Is anyone else kinda mad about that? Why do you guys think Microsoft would do this? its not like we really need something like windows 8 to game.

Hi Linus Tech Tips Forums, I am looking for insight on the following issue: After loading any DirectX 9 game, DirectX 10 & 11 games all crash upon launch. For example, launching Left 4 Dead 2 (DX9) will cause Civilization V (in DX10/11 mode) to fail at launch. Likewise, launching Civilization V in DirectX 9 mode will cause it to fail in DirectX 10/11. Failing is freezing on a white screen if games are set to Windowed Mode and black if Fullscreen Mode (process has to be ended to carry on). Rebooting my system allows me to launch all DirectX 10/11 games until another DirectX 9 game is launched. Things I have tried: - Changing a variety of settings in games - Locating and deleting local configuration files - Downloading the most recent DirectX runtime from Microsoft.com (installation automatically stopped because version was up-to-date) - Manually uninstalling (via Windows Control Panel) and reinstalling recent beta graphics drivers, both in safe mode and normal mode (no sweeper program used during uninstall, yet) - Manually rolling back graphics drivers to latest WHQL version and one much earlier WHQL version - Disabling SLI mode in NVIDIA Control Panel and then rebooting - Defaulting "Manage 3D Settings" in NVIDIA Control Panel - Resetting graphics card overclock (via EVGA Precision X) to defaults and rebooting (no longer overclocking CPU) - Running dxdiag.exe (no obvious result) Did not reinstall Windows, yet D : All concerned games were installed through Steam and are launched through it (save Skyrim, which requires Steam but is launched otherwise for mods). Thank you very much for taking the time to read this issue and in advance for thoughts. I greatly appreciate you! : D - Polite Master OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit CPU: Intel Core i7-3770K (Ivy Bridge) GPU: 2x EVGA 670 FTW (NVIDIA) (No sound card or other PCI-E devices) RAM: GeiL 16GB DDR3 1600MHz CAS9 Mainboard: Asus Maximus V Formula SSD: 2x 128GB Crucial M4 in RAID 0 (OS and programs) HDD: 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black (data and games) PSU: Seasonic 1000W Platinum

I'm going to buy a new CPU and I'm mostly going to game with it. I'm almost 100% certain that I'm also going to be getting a R9 290, but I'm waiting for the non-reference designs to be released. Current news say that Mantle will be bringing from 20%-50% improvements and that it will alow for a more efficient CPU utilization. So, we all know that prices have come down for the holydays, which means that I would be able to get an i7 4770k over an i5 4670k for $70 more. Apparently Mantle will be able to use multi-threads much better than Direct X does, so I'm considering buying the i7. At the same time I keep thinking that it makes no sense because even if Mantle is able to utilize the CPU and its threads much more efficiently, it also makes games less CPU bound. This means that Mantle is going to make whatever I buy more "powerful", but also less useful... Which is good, I just don't know if its worth the upgrade. There's no point in having an i7 for gaming without Mantle, and with Mantle the i7 will probably be reasonably better, we just won't see any tangible improvements since the CPU is no longer a bottleneck. What do you think should I go with the i7? Feel free to leave any oppinions about Mantle, I'd also like to hear them
