I have a Dell Precision T5500/T3500 (can't remember the exact number). It's running with dual CPUs with the second CPU and its ram on a removable riser. Is it possible to remove the riser and run the Workstation with just the one CPU on the motherboard? I'm using the workstation with TrueNas and I don't need both CPUs and I'd like to be able to lower the power usage since each CPU is 92W.

Hello guys! Seems like you are my only, kast hope. I've been searching for the answer for daysbut nothing yet. There is a Precision 7920 rack form factor workstation, which has 2 CPU and 2 1600W PSUs equipped with a Quadro GV100 VGA. The owner wants a second, same VGA in the system, which is fine, but there comes the problem/question: these cards have NVLink connector on the for greater performance, and if you build this config in a tower configuration, you just place the 2 cards above each other, pop in the NVLink bridge, and voilá, there is the doubled bandwidth. But how can you connect them thru their NVLink connectors in a server, or rack form? Hope at least somebody saw configuration like this before, and can help, if the internet couldn't. Thank you in advance!

Is it bad that when I applied the default overclock of MSI Afterburner to my Quadro 3000m while playing Warhammer Chaosbane it freezed the whole laptop and then it said in the notifications "application access to graphics hardware has been blocked" and the whole window of the game turned white? it also fucked up the windows explorer and so had to restart it Also I noticed that the FPS's of the game where increased from 40 to 56 for a moment before it freezed and what I said above happend. I have applied the default overclock to the card before which is (core clock 450mhz to 585mhz and memory clock 1250mhz to 1625mhz) while playing League of Legends or gaming on a android emulator and nothing bad happened The machine is the Dell Precision m6600 with the i7-2860qm and 8gb of ram, hope you can tell me some things about this, thank you in advance

Long time subscriber, first time forum user. I found this Dell Precision 470 tower at a yard sale and got it for $10. I don't know much about it but I knew for that price I could use it for some kind of project. It did not come with a power cable, and I do not have a monitor with the right inputs for it. Any help identifying the components or anything else about it would be appreciated. I would prefer not to take it entirely apart ie: heatsinks off the CPUs to see the model numbers. I attached what I think are relevant pictures, although Dell's website does not provide any information for the service tag. I have found some information on what COULD be in it based on different configurations but I don't know how to find information on mine specifically.

Hello I got a Dell precision t1600, and 2 Different GPU's. And I want to put both on my computer so I can have 3 screens. I now tried for 2 hours just trying to test different things. looked at settings. read online, and nothing worked for me. so do anyone has a clue what to try? Or if you know if there is a way I could use the ports on the motherboard with the GPU. I know they both work, tested them in the computer separate. GPU's Geforce 210 Nvidia Quadro 600 http://www.dell.com/ed/business/p/precision-t1600/pd - link to the pc This is a working pc, not Gaming pc, though I should tell you guys that.

Hi, So i have an old dell precision 690 that i have dragged through the mill, and have upgraded every piece of it, also re-soldered the motherboard capacitors. Lets just say it runs like a dream! My next upgrade is the fans, there are 3 main fans 150mm, 140mm, 120mm, which fans would you suggest to replace these, i need fast 2000rpm+ but silent. I use my machine for numerous things, gaming, video editing, programming, you name it i have used it on this machine its just the fan issue. Would be great if i could use noctua fans as i know these are very highly recommended fans to use but i cant seem to find 1550/1400 mm fans in these. Any help greatly appreciated, Thanks

Hi, so, I have this problem. A few months ago I had a old laptop with a AMD a6-3400m CPU and, I remember that Far Cry 3 on that laptop was actually playable, I mean not too good but it was playable so, my problem its with this old too, workstation that I have now. I have this dell precision m6600(its a laptop) with the i7-2860qm and nvidia quadro 3000m and I downloaded Far Cry 3 and its not playable at all, even in lower resolutions, it runs at like 20fps max with 10% CPU usage and 100% GPU usage. I've noticed something weird and that is that at some point I was getting around 54fps with 100% GPU usage and around 74 CPU usage but it only happend once so, I don't know why the game its unplayable now and wondering if you can help me fix this somehow, thank you in advance ^^ sorry for the bad english

very long story, but the short version is this... i had a dell precision 490. i ordered the wrong cpu's from ebay, couldnt use them in the 490.. the 490 had a wierd freezing issue that happened completely randomly, NOT under any load.. i took it back to the computer store and he gave me a precision t5400 in its place.. which is a newer computer and actually happened to work with the cpu's i got from ebay, which i was extremely happy to learn.. did a few upgrades.. current set up: 0RW203 motherboard Dual Intel Xeon X5450 cpu's. 8 cores 8 threads @ 3ghz. 24mb cache 32gb ddr2 dual ATI firepro V4800 in crossfire in the 2 pci-e x16 slots 120gb ssd (C:) other hdd's for media storage the issue is this, i use this computer for a little of everything, from youtube video benders to gaming to music production to video editing, etc.. i want to be able to use the dual gpu's in crossfire.. everything is setup right, all drivers are installed, everything SHOULD be working. but in gpu-z it says my 2 cards have 2 different bios versions and one is from hp, one is from dell, even though the cards are identical in every other way possible.. it is telling me that crossfire is disabled. ati firepro control center DOES NOT have a crossfire section, and it tells me one of my cards is disabled.. im assuming it is the bios version difference that is making it so the cards cant be used in crossfire??? but when i try to update the bios it tells me there is a sub id mismatch and it cancels itself.. yes, the motherboard can do crossfire (from what ive read) i heard about some command prompt way of forcing the bios update to work.. i used a downloaded bios rom AND i used the backed up rom from the newer (latest) bios version gpu.. both say the same thing.. does anyone know what the deal is here?? any help would be awesome..

Good afternoon Team, I am seeking some opinions on what CPU you guys and gals think would be better in a laptop, I will be using this for primaryily for Virtualisation (and other IT Pro stuff), maybe some light video and photo editing (family fun vids), and some light gaming/streaming with friends (1080p Screen), but not heavy on the latter. Most reviews I have seen on the i9 is for video editing, wondering what IT Pros are thinking? I know the i9 is 400mhz faster than the Xeon, I won't be using any ECC RAM, I don't know how the CPUs will be responding to the heavy virtualisation. Any education appreciated. i9-8950HK vs Xeon E-2176M Video card: Nvidia Quadro P2000 w/4GB GDDDR5 (1080p Screen) 32GB RAM NVME Hard drive (Laptop Dell Precision 5530) Thanks!

My Dell precision m4700 With i7-3840qm 256gb SSD msata and 16gb ram/Win 10 Since I bought it I noticed that when ever I put the system on the fan will blow this very noisy sound and as well does same at intervals. So I had to clean up the fans and vents aswell I had to wipe of the old thermal pastes on both the GPU/CPU and reapplied it with HY510 silicone grease from Halnziye Shenzhen at thermal conductivity of >1.93W/m-k and impedance of <0.225°C-in/W... After recoupling the system the system I tested it to notice that between the bootup to an hour the fan has been quiet... But look at where I'm having issues cause if I have seen this temperatures on a new system I won't be asking. The image shows what I get at an idle state of the CPU likewise the Nvidia Quadro k2000m that stays at 45-50°C idle. Are these temperatures good or is there something wrong with my thermal paste or could it be something from my is.
-
Two months ago I did a clean test on my Dell precision m4700. In the process I removed both CPU and GPU heat sink but reassembled without changing the thermal paste so I kept noticing this high speed wind of the CPU fan at intervals so I had to do a sensor test on my CPU with realtemp which showed a temperature of above 100°C on one of the cores... Now I want to ask, What do you think will the problem and the resolution? If it is the thermal paste issue why is it that only one of the cores is affected... For reference; Dell precision m4700 I7-3840qm 16gb ram 246gb SSD msata

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-6NWYK-Precision-T1600-LGA-1155-Socket-H2-DDR3-SDRAM-Desktop-Motherboard/202302781119?hash=item2f1a2f76bf:g:XV4AAOSwBgVa6M39 I've already purchased this motherboard, and all the hardware works just like you'd expect, but unfortunately I don't have a proper heatsink on it and am currently using a heatsink just sitting on top of it. Would I be able to use a standard LGA 1155 heatsink with this? And if so, what cooler should I get? I have a feeling that a 212 EVO would be a bit overkill in this situation. I would get the heatsink that was made for this motherboard, but I only have $40 for Newegg, and nobody seems to be selling it there.

Hello. I have recently purchased the motherboard to a Dell 6NWYK Precision T1600, and oddly enough, the heatsink from my Dell Poweredge II T110 isn't compatible, despite being the same socket, from the same company, in the same CPU range (Xeon E3 range). So, I was wondering, what Dell heatsinks are compatible with the T1600, and/or is there a way to adapt it so I can use a more normal heatsink?

Hi, thanks for taking interest on my stuff. 1. Budget & Location Between 500~700 US dollar / Will buy in US and have it shipped to Rosario, Argentina 2. Aim I'm not much of a gamer, and I don't care about high fps, 24~30 is what I've been used with for a long time while playing games. The games I use to play are Eve Online, World of Tanks and S4 League. I'd also like to try some 3D modelling and video editting with the machine. 3. Monitors Other than the laptop screen I am thinking of buying a single FHD or higher resolution projector to use as external monitor. 4. Peripherals Not sure if I stick with windows 7, 8.1 Pro or 10. 5. Why are you upgrading? Because my current machine is a joke! Processor AMD E-350, graphics HD Radeon HD 6310, the rest... you can imagine. It's a Samsung RV415, bought 4 years ago. Of the games mentioned above, Eve is playable when all options are set to low or disabled, world of tanks configured the same way is 'playable' with 16~24 fps and S4 League is not. I've decided to purchase a new notebook, was looking to buy in Brazil a Asus X555LF with GT 930M, i5 5200U, 6gb ram and a glossy HD screen for the equivalent of $750 US Dollars, until I saw some used laptops like HP EliteBook, Dell Precision and Thinkpad W in ebay for less than half the price of what I was about to buy. So I've decided to look more into it and I am thinking of buying a Elitebook 8570w or 8760w for around 400 bucks with i7 3rd gen, 8gb ram, quadro 2000m, fhd matte screen. I saw those machines have some issues with heat but that were solved with bios upgrades. From what I've seen they are 2 or 3 years old machines in used or refurbished condition. So what are your thoughts? Any suggestions? Do you think it's worth buying a used workstation laptop?

What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using. The most demanding thing I will be doing with this PC is a 1080p 60FPS 4500bitrate Livestream using OBS of Sonic Generations in 1080p Max Settings. I will also be doing 1080p 60FPS Sony Vegas video renders. What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes? $1500 (Flexible, however prefer to only spend on what's absolutely necessary to run demands) When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy. As soon as good parts are given. What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (Tower/OS/monitor/keyboard/mouse/etc) CPU , GPU, Hard Drive, and anything extra needed for parts to be compatible with computer. Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location? Virginia, USA; http://www.newegg.com/ || http://www.tigerdirect.com/ e.t.c ; No I do not have access to a Microcenter. If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated. Keyboard; Mouse; Case; Ram; Monitor; Speakers; CD Drive; Mainboard; Power Supply; Sound Card. Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU? Overclocking down the line. Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc) CPU must be an Intel i7 or AMD equivalent. Hand Drive must have 1TB or more. Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-tower/full-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components? Mini Tower Chassis Do you need a copy of Windows 7 or 8.1 included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference for one or the other? Hi there, recently my 2008 Dell Precision T3400 has stopped working and the diagnostic lights have indicated that my motherboard has failed. So I decided to switch out the BTX board with an identical one and install two Nvidia GTS 450's along with the new board. So currently I have to get a newer power supply that is capable of 700W according to newegg and Asus PS calculators. I am not really sure how to select a power supply that both fits the original case and is relatively inexpensive. It must be 10x14x15 cm to fit. My system: Dell Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4ghz 1066mhz x2 Nvidia GTS 450 x4 DDR2 SDRAM - 667MHZ DDR2-667/PC2-5300 1gb Genuine Dell TP412 Motherboard 16X/48X SATA INTERNAL DVD-ROM DRIVE. DVD±RW DRIVE SATA 50GB 7.2KRPM SATA-II 8mb Cache Hard Drive I am just trying to fix up an old computer to be usable again. Thanks! Also, do I need a BTX power supply? Or are they all the same.
