A few hours ago, I was playing L4D2 with my friends and after I quit the game, left the laptop on idle for a few minutes, the screen suddenly glitched and everything went black as well as it glitching very often. I thought at first that it was the iGPU dying. But after I shut it down, left it for a while and then turned it on, went to BIOS, it fixed itself. But after a while of watching YouTube, it started to do it again. This time however, even if I go to BIOS, the screen still glitches. Signalling that it might be a hardware issue. Therefore I came to my conclusion. Is there a way to use my dGPU which is a 940mx, to render the whole thing rather than the iGPU? Windows only fix, preferably. Don't wanna tinker around much with Linux. VID20231105162256.mp4

Experienced a power outage while gaming… after getting power back I boot up my pc like normal and notice that the VGA light is red on my MB as well as another red light at the bottom of my MB… everything seems to work fine on my pc except I now can’t load into any games now. I have a 4070ti GPU… is it gone for good?

a few months ago, i woke up from a really loud thunder while in a thunderstorm, when i tried turning my pc on it just wont boot up anymore. i checked and both my ups and my psu's fuse were blown. (glass shattered) because of this, i thought that the pc wasnt working because of the defective power supply so i bought a cheap 700w generic psu online just to check if the other parts were working. when the power supply arrived, i replaced the old power supply with the new one and the pc still wouldnt turn on , however it now has shown signs of power since the cpu fan spun for half a second along with the gpu's. i tried uninstalling the gpu to check if just using my apu (ryzen 3 2200g) would work by itself with the power supply i bought but sadly, only the fans spun and there was no display at all; i also realized that the hard drive was dead and didnt spin anymore. at this point, i thought it would be best to ask a technician for help so i asked my dad who works in the capital of my province to bring it to a technician there. he said that the technician tried a different power supply and other components and told him that it was the motherboard that was broken. i ordered an asus a320m-k as the replacement motherboard and brought it to a nearby computer shop for them to install. turns out, the new 700w generic power supply i bought was actually defective and only got to squeeze out a tiny bit of power when the technician tested it. anyways, i finally got the power supply, motherboard, and my hard drive replaced however the technician said that the gpu wont work anymore as it draws only power and doesnt work anymore when it was tested. was the gpu shorted along with the other parts from the lightning strike near me that day and is there any fix for it?

so i was bored and was playing around with my gt 630 . i download this Furmark cursed app and started benchmarking it . i wanted to see how hot can it get . so i clicked in the burn-in box in the settings and manually set fan to the lowest(52%)... it got 90C and then 91C and then i was distracted by my phone and BOOM! pc went off.. i tried restarting it. didnt work.... tried every method but nothing worked . so i eventually unplugged the gpu, disconnected power to pc and tried turning it on after a while... it worked! happy but also sad cuz i lost my gpu and its gpu shortage... i overclocked core clock to 910(from 810) and memory clock to 840( from 610) mind you, my gpu got hotter before while playng sleeping dogs.. like 92degrees... idk what happened now so can anyone tell me how to fix it?? please.. thanks for the response in advance . im never gonna touch furmark again.. ive done worse benchmarks before.

Hi, When I boot up my pc my R9 390 shows a black back-lit screen after posting. I hear the windows sound that the login screen is displaying. Removing the drivers in safe mode using ddu let's me use my computer normally. I'm able to install the drivers connecting my screen to the on-board graphics. The moment I connect my screen it crashes. Sometimes it showed some artifacts before crashing or showing the login screen, see https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VEvM_G0uBW8gL7m6IDqt9LD03c_Ed8su/view?usp=drivesdk . Before I could run occp or other software to test it it crashed. Possible causes: - I somehow damaged it while replacing the thermal paste. I don't think so but first time I did it after 5years... used noctua nt h1 which is nonconductive. - I damaged it when the case wasn't properly grounded. The outlet in my new house wasn't properly grounded and shocked me when I touched the case. Disconnected everything soon after and fixed the grounding. - I did a windows cumulative update around that time and it broke the driver or something. Using a system restore point didn't fix it. What i tried: - Tried using a displayport instead of the hdmi connection. - updated windows, bios, and gpu bios. Installing older drivers, system restore points. - Installing the driver while using the on-board graphics. Testing vram with occp while using the on-board graphics as display. Ran it for 1min and it completed normally, but crashed when I tried it a second time, or when I tried to run it for 1h. - Disabled windows energy saving setting for pci. - Tried different pci slot - cleaned and reapplied the thermal paste again. Checked for anything out of place. - I installed another harddrive as well before it gave me this problem, disconnected all extra harddrives keeping only my boot ssd. - checked the voltages in bios and everything seems ok. Changed one of the power cables to another psu "slot" that was free. Specs: I5 6500 Sapphire R9 390 trix Seasonic m12II evo 620w bronze Gigabyte GA-H110M-S2H Kingston 16GB 2133 Only thing left to try is baking the card I think. Any other suggestion besides buying a new system? Thanks

Hey guys, i bought my Acer Nitro 5 on July 2020, nothing has really been alright with it, there's always some issue with it, overheating, windows problem, HDD, etc. Well last Wednesday, my laptop accidentally fell from my bed on hard floor. Everything was frozen when that happened, so i did a hard shut down and restarted it and it was working fine, after some time I noticed sudden freezing but that was only for a few seconds. After some time, i noticed the fans weren't cooling properly so i decided to open the back cover and check whether everything was fine. When I was struggling to open the back panel, one of the screws inside fell on the motherboard right above the GPU on the motherboard and I saw a few sparks as the battery was still connected. I didn't really think that can cause much damage to the laptop. But unfortunately it did. My computer wouldn't turn on after that no more. So I took it to my local Acer Authorised Service place. They told me that somehow my HDD had been corrupted even tho it was working fine initially after the incident. Anyways i told them to fit a 500gb ssd. Today they gave me a call and said that my computer was ready for pickup. I visited the store and it was working fine, but in the task manager, i couldn't see dedicated GPU listed under the performance tab, After some checking he said that the GPU was dead and that i would either have to buy a new motherboard or use my laptop without the GPU, the whole reason for me buying this laptop was gaming on the first place, why should I compromise on the main thing I bought the laptop for. Is there any other possible way my GPU can be revived. Plz help..

The card doesnt show on bios or device manager Is there any thing i can do? No damage and no smell

I got scammed on eBay for an RX 480 4gb I bought for $80. The card is completely dead; no fan spin, no LEDs, computer doesn't POST with it installed. I'm already in the process of the chargeback to get my money back, but in the meantime I thought I could screw around with this thing and maybe bring it back to life. Unfortunately I can't do the infamous oven trick as I only have one oven and baking the GPU can spew some nasty fumes into it (bad idea for the oven I use almost daily for food). I have a $10 soldering kit (wee) and a $10 multimeter, and basically no experience with electronics. I gave the RX 480 a once-over and it doesn't look like anything's burnt out, apart from the previous owner's lungs seeing as there's so much smoke tar buildup around the card. Here's pictures of the back and front of the card: Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. I can take more pictures if needed.

Hey there, I happen to have a hardware dead Radeon VII I wish to repair, I have never done any small electronics repairs but I have nothing to lose + I think it's interesting. I was wondering where to get started. I have a multimeter and some tools, do you guys know of any guides or begginer friendly content that can point me in the right direction? I believe I have to look for shorts? All help is very much appreciated.

Hello everyone I just got a new hard drive. I turned off the PC, unplugged it, plugged the new one in, removed the GPU(I did this because I can't see BIOS through the GPU as no signal is delivered until windows has started), plugged the VGA cable into the MOBO and than proceeded to install Win 10 on the new Toshiba 1TB HDD. I than (once done) shut down the PC, re-inserted the GPU and..... nothing.... absolutely nothing. The GPU fan was spinning at I think around 40-50% and the monitor wasn't receiving signal. I tried restarting, re-installing Win 10, I tried to disable onboard graphics from the BIOS (after having re-removed the GPU) and still no signal. I see no reason why it should have died as it is only a month old but that looks like what's happened... Any suggestions before I bring it back to wootware? Thanks in advance 4 the help. And no, I have no other PC to test it on and no other PCI-E slot in the MOBO. OK so I'm looking for the specs on these capacitors for this specific Gigabyte G1 gaming GTX 1080 board(though I've seen them on a bunch of boards in the past) . . one of these popped off after a water block was removed and I'm trying to replace it completely with a new one The old one isn't getting enough contact and the power delivery is way off and sending temps soaring into the 80's . . the card used to sit at 66c at full load with most games or software When water cooled it was a nice cool 47c Anybody know the exact part?

So here's the problem. My PC crashed while watching a youtube video+checking e-mails and the screen went white as soon as I rebooted it. Thinking that my display died, I tested it on my brother's PS3...fortunately it's completely fine, but the problem was still there... I re-installed everything to see if a fresh windows build fixed anything...And it didn´t Here's a list of what's going on: 1- My OS thinks that my GPU is an ATOMBIOS. 2- I get red (sometimes white) bars on my screen. 3- I only get an image if I use the bottom DVI port on the GPU. 4- Even the BIOS screen is corrupted and shows artifacts all over the place, making it close to unreadable. 5- My PC crashes horribly as soon as the OS tries to display the "log in" screen when I install *any* drivers (even the one on the CD that comes with the GPU) 6- For some reason, the second fan on the card does not work unless I set the fan speed at 80+%. (something I cannot do right now, due to the previous issue). Here's my rig + OS: AMD FX 4100 Stock Sapphire DUAL-X OC HD7870 2gb DDR5 (SKU: 11199-19-20G) Corsair Vengeance 2x4gb DDR3 Kit @ 1600Mhz Gigabyte GA 970a UD3 (BIOS version: F7) Sentey Extreme Rock Power 600 ss. 600w Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit This is the first time I face a problem like this... it just...broke, I don't know what to do. Things I've tried: Unplugging my GPU from the motherboard and plugging it back in. Plugging the GPU on the 4x slot. Did my GPU die? P.S.: The only "good" GPU I can get is the RX 560/460 (2gb)... I have an *extremely* tight budget. Food expenses + bills are killing me. Nvidia is out of the question (People are asking for ridiculous prices for a 660ti or any other "old" GPU from the green team) Here are some pictures showing the issue + a *.txt file of the "error" that the AMD driver says It's having... AMD error.txt

This is my first post here so let me know if I break any rules. I tried booting this morning after I woke up and as usual I left before it finished to brush teeth etc. When I came back the PCs lights were on, the LED readout was showing CPU temp around norman but the fans on the GPU (EVGA 1080 hybrid) where spinning like crazy and there was no display out. I rebooted and this time it started normally, no crazy fans but again the monitors didn't respond, they didn't even cycle through inputs they just remained asleep. I shut down and rest the CMOS, after which I got the error code d6 which translates to "No console output detected". I don't have much else to troubleshoot with as my CPU doesn't have intergrated graphics and the only other gpu I have laying around is a GTS-250 that needs its thermal past replaced and likely doesn't work anyway as its been sitting in my room for nearly a decade. System specs are as follows. MSI x99A Tomahawk i7-6800k 16GB (4x4GB) 3200Mhz EVGA GTX-1080 Hybrid Antec Earthwatts 750W Windows 10 Home The PSU was replaced recently but it's been working fine since. I'm fairly certain that the 1080 died though it was very sudden as it was working less than 12 hours ago and nothing happened since it was shut down last. I'm not sure if there's anything thing I can do other than replaced the card but I was hoping for a second opinion before I commit.

I have a R5 1600.About a month back my RX 480 died.It has always been mounted in the first PCIE slot on my Gigabyte GA-AB350 Gaming 3 motherboard.I had an HD 6570 laying around which I decided to use as a back up untill I could get a new GPU.Even though it has always worked with no problems and requires no additional power connectors I went ahead and ran the OCCT power stress test just to be sure. After a couple of minutes the screen went black, rebooted, ran the test again, same result. After that I ran the OCCT 3D stress test and in a matter of seconds got hundreds of errors detected, screen goes black(I use this phrase because if I have music or something playing in the background it continues to play,so I assume the system doesn't actually crash but somehow the video signal gets affected),even though the CPU and GPU were running at stock(the 1600 was running a stable OC of 3.8GHz @1.37V, prior to the 480 diyng, but I went back to stock settings after),with the only "overclock" being the active XMP profile in the BIOS. Ran both memtest86 and memtest64 for multiple passes,no issues found,so I think it's highly unlikely the RAM is faulty. Ran the OCCT CPU test,Cinebench R20,all good,so I guess the CPU is fine too. I'd like to note that when running prime95+Furmark for over an hour nothing happens,no crashing,no screen going black, seems 100% stable(I know 1 hour is low for thorough stability testing but I think it's still interesting since when using OCCT the issue occurs in a matter of seconds or minutes at best). Also, when running the OCCT tests with HD 6570 on a LGA 775 system nothing happens. I went on a limb and got a new PSU(Seasonic GC Core 650) just because, since I would get a new GPU anyway, even though my Seasonic S12II 520 has never given me any sort of trouble.Ran both OCCT tests with the new PSU,same results,at which point I concluded it must be the motherboard.I mounted the HD 6570 in the second PCIE slot(up untill this point it was mounted in the one in which de 480 died).Ran the power and 3D tests for over 20 minutes each,no issues,so I thought problem solved,it was the B350 all along. My theory was, although I don't know if it's possible and sounds highly unlikely to me,that when my 480 died(it died while I was using the PC) it somehow damaged the PCIE slot in the process. I swaped the B350 for a Gigabyte B450 S2H which I briefly used for a month with a 3400G.Ran the stress tests, everything seemed fine. Fast forward a couple of weeks to now,I ran the OCCT 3D and power tests on the same B450 board and the "crashes" are back. The B450 has only one PCIE slot. Using various BIOS versions for both motherboards leads to the same results. Sorry for this story being so convoluted but I hope some of you have managed to follow along,so my question is this:am I the unluckiest person in the world and have stumbled upon two semi-faulty motherboards(the B450 is still under warranty) or is it possible that my issues with the OCCT stress tests have something to do with the fact that I`m using a Ryzen 5 1600 given that that prime95 and Furmark don't lead to any sort of crash and OCCT,using the same GPU on another platform, also doesn't appear to manifest any issues.

So maybe a couple of weeks ago the electricity for the house cut out. When I went to turn on my pc it booted for a second and then shut off and I noticed a tiny bit of smoke coming off my GTX MSI 970. I have a replacement GPU but having a 970 lying around as a paper weight kind of hurts. I tested the 970 with another board and it also didn’t boot. However, I am unsure if it is a problem with the power supply. I removed the cooler off the 970 and inspected it a little to see if I found any anomaly. The only thing I found that might be strange is where it feels like 2 pin outs are connected (different from the other chips) and they shouldn’t but I’m not sure if this is the case. What do you advise me to do? If you think the gpu is just dead do mind recommending me a guide on how to check considering I don’t have another one and can’t test (I do have a multimeter). Thank you

Just got my dead gtx 760. Yes I bought a dead gpu. The card does not give signal on DVI or DP. MB gives 1 beap. System starts up (win 7 startup sound). Integratet gpu is ok, the card is not shown in device menager, nor in MSI Afterburner. So what options do i have? Bake the card? This is for ppl in the future to know what to do. P.S. Oven will be the last option. GTX 760 Asus OEM (GTX760-2GD57DP_CARD Rev.1.1) Clean, new paste, no visible damage on PCB. ASrock H270m pro4 Other stuff is rather irrelevant.

Hello. I currently am having issues with my Graphics Card and i did a lot of troubleshooting. And i think my card is on its last legs and dying. I am looking to CONFIRM this if possible as i already bought a replacement. I started getting random checkerboard pattern, lines like a barcode either black, white or multicolored. Or a discolored screen with all the above included in it. It has done this on every screen, with and with out the driver installed, even in the BIOs screen (no pic unfortunately, will upload if i get it again). It even restarts with a BSOD and sometimes reboots in a really small resolution with Device manager saying a "Code 43" stating windows stopped the device. It is a Coming and Going problem. but the more it happens the more frequent it shows up in a short amount of time. Turning off the PC though for a day or so makes it go away for about 3 days (PC being on Non stop, personally tested). I have used DDU to uninstall the main Driver for the Graphics card to revert back to stock Windows driver. I tried Updating the drivers through Nvidia Geforce Experiance, through the Web browser by installing just the Driver. and i get the issues on everything. I tried Hooking up my Graphics card in my friends PC and wired my Powersupply up to it (his didnt have the right Wattage PSU) and only was able to test it for a short amount of time as he uses his machine. so i am unable to test this card in another machine for a long. I also tried 2 seperate cables and all 3 ports, DVI-I, DVI-D, and HDMI. and it does it in all ports. I tested it on 2 displays, and it does it on both. I have also tried doing a fresh install of Windows 10 through the keep files recovery option in the Settings backup and recovery section. And it still did it after. Graphics card kept triggering the BSOD even. Eventually got Windows 10 Reinstalled and it started back up with no Nvidia drivers installed. The Motherboard has no Onboard Graphics so everything goes through the Graphics card. My Mobo doesn't even have video ports. It has been doing this for a few weeks now, i thought i would wait and look into the issue, and then get an opinion with all my info of everything it tested before i declared the card lost for good, and unable to be a simple fix. My specs are Graphics Card : ZT‑70402‑10P Zotac Geforce Gtx 760 2GB Amp Edition MotherBoard : Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 RAM : 17GB CPU : AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core Processer 4.01 GHz EDIT: I included a video of what the screen does as well. video-1528413184.mp4

Hey I would really like some help on an issue. Recently I was messing around with my OC settings with my GPU and what happened was I was looking at a forum for safe OC settings for my EVGA GeForce GTX 970 SuperCooled ACX2.0 GPU and somebody recommended +150 on core Mhz and +300 on memory Mhz. I tested these settings and they were fine doing a Heaven benchmark so I assumed they were stable settings. I then went on to turn on War Thunder which I ran at maxed out settings btw. I was in my hangar and went to check the new plane in the hangar and then all of a sudden the PC blacks out. my main monitor was completely black but my second monitor was fine and I press alt+tab to to try and force close War Thunder as I knew something wasn't right. As im moving the mouse i notice it is really laggy, like the slowest and least responsive my PC has ever been, and I went over and clicked on the, 'X,' when you hover an app which when I did this a little red circle with a white cross appeared on my task bar. I didn't see what it was but it was flashing orange on the task bar. After that I try to open task manager with control alt delete as my PC was now really unresponsive and immediately after doing this my PC turns off and it was definitely a major crash. I leave my PC for a half hour to see if it would be fine and when I turn it back on only my right monitor is on ( I have two.) I thought that's weird so I try unplugging HDMI cable and re plugging into my main monitor but nothing, I tried all the channels but no signal on any of them. At this point I'm super worried. I then went to device manager and click on display adaptors and my 970 and Intel Graphics both appear but weirdly both have an exclamation mark next to them. I double click on the 970 and this error message appears. Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) I quickly searched this up and apparently this Code 43 appears when a device is dead. The weird thing is the Intel graphics also has this same message but that's impossible that my CPU graphics are dead because I'm using the same GPU and CPU before the massive crash. Please anyone who can help please do. I might actually have to buy another GPU Alex

Hey there everybody, long time reader, first time poster. I recently came to find my parents computer was turned off without them shutting it down. I hit the power button to try to boot it up but all I could get was the led power button lit and the fan that is directly connected to the PSU to show signs of life. From here I went into troubleshooting mode to figure out what was wrong. I narrowed down the suspect issues it might be starting with the ram to no success until I removed the graphics card from both the motherboard and the PSU when everything came back to life. Is this the sign of a dead graphics card or am I not seeing something I should been troubleshooting for almost 2 hours now while google searching everything I know of. This is the current system they are running it is old running gear with a few upgraded parts so no griefing or hate all the use is it for is basic computer usage (documents, videos and internet) and games like minecraft that don't require large over the top systems. So today I was in the middle of a comp game on CS:GO when my game stopped responding and my screens went black. When they came back I noticed artifacting on my monitors. I immediately turned my computer off and restarted. Once back in I gave my PC a minute to gather it's thought before launching back into CS:GO so I could resume my game. After about three rounds it did the same thing again but this time there was no artifcatcing. It just simply cut my FPS in half. Literally in half. I was averaging 150 fps before then after it went down to 74 fps average. A few more rounds went by then it did the same thing... again!... but no artifacting it just cut the fps in half so now i was playing a CS:GO comp with 32 fps average... and let me tell you... when you're generally the AWPer for your team and you have 30 fps it's not pleasant. Anyway, finally finished the game I decided to try a benchmark so I used Valley Benchmark which I generally run on high settings at 80 fps average but this time I was running it on Medium no AA just to see if my GPU could handle it and it definitely couldn't. The most I got was 20 fps. I then restarted my computer in general. After it booted up I opened MSi Afterburner and Geforce Experience to make sure I wasn't overclocking my card and to make sure I had the latest driver in case it may have been some kind of driver problem. They were both fine. I opened up Valley Benchmark again running it on Medium no AA at 1080p and this time I got normal framerates of 80-90 fps. I then decided to crank it back up to high settings with no AA at 1080p and I was getting normal framerates again with 74-80 fps. So now I'm confused. Should I continue testing my card to see if it will give me anymore problems or should I just give it a break and maybe start an RMA for it with EVGA? This is the first time my card has ever given problems like this. I have gotten problems in the past though where the card won't let me play certain games while it's overclocked. Thank you for any help. System Specs: AMD FX 8350 Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0 24GB Corsair 1600mhz RAM EVGA GTX 760 SC EVGA 750W G2 PSU

Hello gyes so i was running my pc and i wanted to adjust a system fan (i know i am an idiot for doing this while the pc is running) and i touched my graphics card 2-3 times and the screen got black. I restarted the pc but nothing happened. My other card is working fine. So my question is did i kill my gpu with static electricity ?
