Budget (including currency): below 500usd Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: WOWS, COD, HOI4, I'll constantly write and delete files in size of GB, like downloading a game today and get's bored and install a new one. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Thanks mate! Hi Yall, It's not the first time I decide to change my current M2 SSD on my laptop, 512GB is just not enough for me. I am looking for a new one with at least 1TB storage. I am struggling between 970 evo plus, 980 and 970 pro. My current SSD is a TOSHIBA 512GB one. My knowledge is out of date, since the last time I was researching about relevant topic is 4 years ago buying this laptop. So I would be really appreciated if you guys can give me some advice. By the way, what's the best way to migrate all my data from the old drive to the new one? FYI, my laptop is AERO 15xV8 Gigabyte. Thanks mate, SpaceHunter

Today I tried to use the samsung data migration software to clone my main hard drive to my samsung 860 qvo ssd. I tried 3 times and each time it got to 99% then said "Data migration function had been interrupted for an unknown reason." The ssd is 1Tb and I'm trying to move about 400gb of files.

So I've I've recently had to upgrade my 1Tb drives to 3Tb drives as I'm picking up more video editing work. I've already transferred one drive with a simple copy paste and a drive directory swap. But the other hard drive I need to upgrade contains a few important partitions that just can't just be copied over. It needs it's disk image moved across to the other drive. I know there's a few good applications for this and I was wondering what people recommend. I was wondering what people thought of this application. Literally all day for the past 9 hours I've been trying to perform an SSD upgrade, which I was told over & over to be the simplest of tasks. Yet no matter what I try I'm running into countless issues, none of which I don't think I can call the company over as they'll likely just give me some marketing speak to buy some proprietary USB cable or use the disk that contains outdated software which would likely corrupt something, all of which I don't need. So now I'll explain what I've done & the issues in depth, sorry if this is a long post but it needs to be clear. As always, I was told to disregard the Disk that came with my 250GB Samsung 850 EVO as installing the outdated software on it, then trying to update said software can result in corruptions. So I just mounted the SSD, plugged in the SATA power & SATA 3 cable to my SATA 2 Motherboard, triple checked all the connections to ensure they were 100% seated (spent 2.5 hours on this) & then booted my PC. After taking pics of my BIOS just in case I then proceeded to initialize my SSD in Windows Disk Management as instructed by various online sources. Following this I was told to create a "New Simple Volume..." via that same tool, this is where I encountered the first failure. No matter what I did the RAW SSD refused to format when quick format was selected. Desperate I tried unchecking that box which resulted in what I think to be a long format. This then hung & refused to finish or cancel no matter how long I waited, so I restarted my PC & it finally stopped. After this point I finally found out that I needed Samsung's Data Migration Software in order to mirror my OS & everything to the new drive in a much simpler manner. So I downloaded that started the cloning process. It failed & gave me an error saying "Cloning failed. An error occurred during defragmentation. 301400[049958]". After clicking complete (the only option available) it then asked if I wanted to automatically restart & run a chckdsk which I said yes. That then ran & completed fairly quickly, the only thing I saw that sounded bad was "43 reparsed records processed". I tried cloning it again & the same thing happen, so now I'm fed up & really need some dumbed down help because I'm tried of making bad decisions on my own. 1a: Were my failed attempts at formatting the brand new drive via Windows what caused a corruption that's resulting in cloning failures? 1b: If not then what is & what the heck do I do? (My HDD is almost 6 years old so I'd like to get this fixed ASAP before it goes out & I'm left helpless). 2a: If the solution is to clean install Windows but to the new SSD then clone that to my HDD, how can I know I won't encounter the same or more issues that will keep me offline for months? 2b: I'm assuming the worst of that above because of what I've experienced so far & the fact my OS is an OEM Copy, could that in itself be the cause of cloning failure? 3: If I should just forget about this all together, how can I ensure my SSD doesn't have anything on it so I can put it away for new build in 2+ months? I bought a new 1Tb SSD, and it came with an Acronis True Image 2015 key. My HDD stores 700Gb, and is almost full. After trying to copy all my data from my old HDD, the SSD had everything but my OS. I booted off my SSD just after the data copy, I got the windows loading screen, and then my screen simply went black. I left that black screen for over a couple hours, but nothing happened. I've followed several guides, yet none of them solve my problem. I also tried unplugging my HDD, so my computer only recognized my SSD. Once it booted, I get the windows loading screen, and nothing more happens. It has been like this for two hours. Any help would be appreciated. Feel free to ask any questions.

I just bought a 1TB SSD for my pc, meaning to fully replace my current 700GB hard disc. I have a SATA3 6Gbs cable too. I'm using a desktop, and Windows 10. I've searched for a while but can't find out how to migrate all my data from my disc to my SSD properly. I'm unsure how I should hook up my new SSD physically, and what software I should be using to migrate my data. Free software is certainly preferable. If someone could link me a guide, that would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I've recently purchased a Samsung 860 Evo 1 TB solid state drive. I've successfully installed the product, in hopes that I could migrate some data from my old ssd to this new one. I used you're program and unfortunately I keep getting error coded, I've gone through many forums and help sites, but none have given me a solution. I've applied many of these methods and techniques but nothing has been fixed, I keep receiving the message, "Clone Failed - Error 0, Failed to Create Volume Snapshot. Result Code: 0x8004231f, Clone failed - Error 0 - Unable to match partition - Drive 1. Start Sector 233517056. (image attached) I only wish to migrate all my files from my current SSD (Samsung 850 EVO 120 GB) to my new 1 TB one. If I could receive some assistance, advice or tips I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Cameron.

Hi all. I recently built a new ryzen system and went through the entire windows 10 installation on my new samasung 960 pro NVMe and got everything to work. However, after doing so I realized I would rather just clone my old samsung 840 pro ssd, which was my original boot drive that contained my windows 10 install, to this new 960 pro. I was able to boot into the old windows ssd on my new system and have since wiped and re-formatted my 960 pro NVMe. I have macrium reflect installed and ready to go to perform the clone. The questions I have are as follows:1.) On my original 840 pro windows install the drive has the following: System reserve (I: drive) partition || Healthy (Recovery) partition || and my main partition with the windows install. Do I need to clone all three of these partitions over to my NVMe drive? My 960 Pro drive currently has it's own Healthy (Recovery) partition, Healthy (EFI system) partition, and the main re-formatted empty partition. 2.) My original 840 pro drive is currently formatted in the MBR partition style while my 960 pro is in the newer GPT partition style. Do I need to reformat the NVMe drive to MBR? I've heard there can be issues when cloning between these 2 different partition styles but I've also heard that new bios's can handle things fine and that GPT is better for today's drives anyway. Any help is appreciated!

Hi, so i bought a new 4tb hard drive and currently have a 256 boot ssd and 2tb hard drive for my media and game storage. the first problem i have is do i need to do anything special in formatting of my new 4tb hard drive for windows to recognize it or anything (i have windows 10).My second question is it possible for me to just copy everything in my current 2tb hard drive over to my 4tb hard drive then change the drive letters and have it work. if not is there a simple way to do this since i want to use my current 2tb hard drive for only certain files like video document and such and have the 4tb for all my games and some other apps Thanks for any advice/help or tips

I have an old seagate barracuda 1 TB where I store my OS and a bunch of other data as well, and I have a WD Red 3TB where I mostly store games, movies, picture and the like. The seagate is getting full yet the WD Red has loads of space left, I would like to migrate all the data from my barracuda to my WD Red, but I also want to keep all the data on the WD Red. Could this be done by migrating to a separate partition and then combining the partitions afterwards? I have a partition large enough to accommodate all the data on the barracuda, but how would I go about migrating to the partition, booting from it afterwards and then combining the two partitions on the WD Red into one?

Okay so I bought an SSD for my new system to replace a crappier, smaller ssd that did not suffice speed wise. I'm now using the Samsung 850 EVO with rapid mode enabled. I've made the migration using Samsung's data migration software, and the OS seems to be OK. The only reason I have questions, is because I noticed immediately after restarting from the migration, some of my frequently used apps would become unresponsive upon opening, even when going into program files and launching the executables. So, it was late at night and I was tired and decided to deal with it the next day. Next day: PC boots significantly faster (OMG OMG OMG OMG) and all of the problem apps start up fine. 1) Why are they working all of the sudden? When I shut down the pc didn't even do updates. 2) Does this mean the migration worked, and I can wipe the old SSD for game storage? Thanks a lot!

Hi all, I've recently bought an SSD to install in my GS60 Ghost Pro. The laptop came from MSI with an SSD loaded with the OS and 1tb HDD for data, with a second, empty M.2 slot which I'd like to fill with the new SSD. My drives and setup: 128gb OEM M.2 drive from Toshiba, preloaded with OS and I've almost completely filled it up with just programs. 1tb HDD I'm using for all media and documents, games, etc. 512gb Crucial M550 M.2 SSD, ready to be installed. Would it be best to clone my 128gb boot drive onto the new SSD, or just start loading programs on the new drive and leave the boot drive alone? I have Clonezilla on a CD and external drive I could use to do the cloning, is there a better way to do the migration? Thanks in advance.

I just bought an Evo 850 for my new build, and I'd like to migrate some software over to it. I basically just want to clone certain parts of my drive, not the whole thing, and I don't want the contents of my HDD to be removed. Is this possible with any kind of software?

Hi I've just cloned my parents 64GB SSD which was their boot/system drive to a new 240GB SSD as the smaller one had gotten down to less than 1GB free and it was causing some problems. I've cloned the drive using Macrium Reflect Free version 6.0, have removed the old SSD and successfully booted to windows on the new SSD and everything seems fine. Except.... When I go into "computer" the little windows 7 logo that is normally on the system drive is missing. Is this OK? How can I fix this? This is what it looks like now And this is a generic photo of what it should look like (generic image from google images) Thanks

I am building a new computer and have purchased a 250GB Samsung 840 Evo SSD. I have windows 7 installed on my iMac bootcamp partition and would like to save myself the hastle of reinstalling Windows and programs etc on my new rig. I have seen guides for cloning a HDD to SSD, but since I would be essentially cloning a partition created by bootcamp, could the data migration get messed up? Which cable should I use for this process, since I can't really use a sata? Is there any recommended software I should use for this process, or is the default Samsung software ok for this job?

So I just got a 840 EVO 500 GB ssd and plugged it in to my computer so that I might transfer my files and OS to it. My computer sees the drive however when I open the Samsung Data Migration tool or the Samsung magician don't see the drive as a Samsung product. I checked the property and the name on the drive is Samsung SSD 840 EVO 500G USB Device. Any Ideas on how to make the Samsung Data Migration tool see the drive or another free tool that I can use to copy all my files and OS over to my new drive?

I recently purchase a Samsung 840 eco 128 gig sad and I plan on moving my oss and maybe 3 games to it. I don't know how to do this any way other than a format and complete reinstall. my goal is simply to get my OS, bf4,elder scrolls online and maybe minecraft onto the ssd. I say maybe because I don't know if its a good idea to put mc on an sad due to how CPU intensive it is. I have other games that will be on my 1tb hdd. Is there any way to do this without reinstalling the games? I don't mind reinstalling windows 7, just the games since I have to download them. my build Asus f2a85-v pro motherboard AMD fm2 a10 apu 5700 3.4Ghz (4.0 turbo) wd black 3.5in. 7200rpm 1tb hdd adata 1600 ram I am open to setting the ssd up as a cache if possible. what do?

Hello, I'm building a new pc but I'm going to be using the same HDD from my current pc. I'm buying an SSD to use as a boot drive and for some games. Is there a way that I can get Windows 7 from my HDD to the new SSD without formatting the HDD? (While removing the OS from the HDD so that it's only on the SSD) I don't have a backup drive. I'm aware you can clone drives but I can't find a way to move the OS only from HDD's to SDD's without moving any data. ..Also I'm aware that when you switch your motherboard Windows needs reactivation and you can call them to get it reactivated. The same thing should work here since I'm using this copy of Windows 7 on 1 machine, right?

Hey, I'm going to be building a new computer soon and I'm on a budget. So what i've decided to do is buy a 1tb hard drive for when I initially build my computer and then upgrade to an SSD when I have the money. I know that i'll have to install windows to my hard drive, but when I decide to buy the SSD to put into my system, can I transfer just the OS to the SSD? I saw the data migration video on NCIXcom's channel and it mentioned how you could clone your existing HDD to your new Intel SSD. My question is, does your SSD have to be an Intel SSD in order to transfer your OS and do you have to clone the entire drive? I was hoping I could just clone/transfer the OS and some programmes like the adobe CC suite and maybe some games etc for faster loading times. Thanks , Blueprint

Hey everyone, I was thinking about getting an SSD for my system soon and had a questions: Do you think I should migrate my data(I would only really migrate my OS) or do a clean install and why? Thanks in advance.
