Okay, so I've been getting into minimalist conky themes and I was just wondering if there are any that will display news headlines, from sources like the NY Times and The Guardian, as well as wired, ars technica, and the verge. also, if you know of any other cool minimalist themes, hmu. currently just running qlocktwo but want to add more

Hi guys, I've been browsing, researching, watching videos on gaming laptops for the past 2 days straight. I've ran through MSI, Asus, Lenovo, etc. and had hard time choosing which one is best for me. Although, I am new to the "building/customizing your own laptop" thing I ran into Cyberpowerpc, I thought that they offer great customization options, they even offer free or discounted components and accessories which is great! So that I won't have to spend more money on accessories and whatnot. But I have only a budget of a little around $1000 and I have devised myself a laptop that would satisfy me in Cyberpowerpc. Though, I don't know if I can trust Cyberpowerpc since I have no experience from this company whatsoever, although I have "heard" that they have sentsome defective components in the past from people who've had them, but that was from a PC review. I don't know if they can be trusted or not in the laptop side. They all look good and seem and everything but are they worth it?

Sup folks, I'm still planning out my build and was wondering something that some of you might know. I want to make a junction from the power-LED cable to an LED Ford emblem that I've got (simple, split the wire from the front panel LED, add wire junction, add the rest of the power-LED wire + the LED emblem and voila) Now my emblem (pics below) is rated for +/- 12V, so I was wondering, how much voltage comes from the power-LED pins? Would it be enough to power it? TL;DR: How much voltage comes from the front panel power-LED pins? Thanks in advance, Cheers, TJ

Sup folks, Yesterday I made a post about my LED Ford emblem which I'd like to put in my case. The emblem requires +/- 12 volts to work, so I decided to connect it directly to a molex-connector, as I believe the yellow wire is used for 12 volt output (or so I read on the interwebs), so I drew this astonishing schematic before assembling it, and asking you - yes, you! - to check whether this is correct or whether I'm going to break the emblem like a Windsor engine block (Ford joke, haha). Thanks in advance, Cheers TJ PS, I'm a noob at wiring so this might seem like the stupidest request ever, but I'd just want to be sure before I do it, if it means preventing an accidental camp fire PPS, I suck at jokes. Here are the schematic and a puppy

hi everyone,,,i have a question and i wonder if someone could help me with this. i want to build a new desktop pc for 4k video and photo editting and rendering mainly. the parts i chose are expensive so i decided to buy them separately during 3 to 6 months in order to avoid one time budget breaking payment. but now i'm thinking what if some of these parts comes with a major upgrade during this process after i bought it,,,and i wanted to know how often pc part makers take a big step upgrading their products(specially CPU and motherboard)...i don't mind little upgrades but i don't like to see much better new parts with the same price when finally i'm done with buying the parts... so i wanted to know is it possible to face a big upgrade after 3 to 6 month? sorry the question is a little weird but i think customize pc builders understand my concern. thanks. (my intended system main parts are these : asus rampage v edition 10;intel core i7 6900k;geforce 1080 GPU...)

Grab the attached .theme file then double click the file to apply the theme. Or you can copy the following spoilered text into a .txt file and change the extension to .theme using Notepad/Wordpad. It shouldn't affect your backgrounds. It hasn't changed mine. If you check the text or edit the .theme after downloading, you'll see that it's just three numbers that customize the color per item. These are RGB Values. They are in RGB order (red then green then blue). 0 is none, and 255 is maximum. 0 0 0 is black. 255 255 255 is white. 255 255 0 (red and green) is yellow. 0 255 255 (green and blue) is Teal/Cyan/Turquoise/Baby Blue. 255 0 255 (red and blue) is Magenta/Purple. 170 170 170 is a darker grey while 70 70 70 is a lighter grey. If you wish to find a color's RGB value, select it here and read the RGB value listed: http://www.w3schools.com/colors/colors_picker.asp Some items are obvious (like Window, which is the entire background of a window), others are not (like HotTrackingColor, which is the hotlink color, i.e. when there are links in a window to something else). Trial and error or google. The options above the colors themselves are unknown to me, but I think they shouldn't be necessary to adjust to your desired colors. This was found on DeviantArt.com and at http://eversins.deviantart.com/, as it mentions in the .theme file and text. Enjoy. The one I've pasted is my default. It isn't so much about the matrix. Lime green, at least in this context, is just a nice color. Text: File: dark.theme Note that this affects all programs that use Windows' default white background. An example is that I have qBittorrent open and it's the same as File Explorer. Here is an example of the theme I have listed. You can of course adjust it according to your preferences as I've mentioned. I've found some menus are hard to read with these settings, but it's a work in progress for me. 90% of it works fine.

I have been watching LTT videos for a while, but it is my first time asking questions. So....... I am recently wondering about the kind of websites I have to go to buy my own customized laptop. what I wanted to do is to simply customize the laptop by doubling the ram and changing drives a little bit, nothing else. but I heard people receiving products with dead pixels on their laptop monitors, so I do not know what is the best option for me to do right now. I am thinking about buying the new ASUS Zephyrus M GM501 (with 1070) and upgrade the ram to 32GB and double the SSD (512gb PCIe) and HDD (2tb SSHD) and do not want to try doing it myself for the possibility of damage the machine. so please, please if anyone just happens to know a really reliable website that does not cost that much (less than 3,000 USD) for this machine, please respond Thank you so much PS. can LTT do a review on this new model of Zephyrus???

As we know that NumLock key causes the Numpad to act differently on basis of its on/off status. I want to ask that can we make keys other than Numpad to do other events on NumLock basis? For example, when NumLock is Off the arrow key act as same arrow key but when NumLock is On the arrow key acts like Enter Key. Is there any software or some registry editing to do this?

Mine just arrived and I'm loving them so far, I'm curious what others think. Also, I'd love to see @LinusTech's opinion, he's done some pretty serious HQ audio reviews in the past.

Hey there! Just a bit of storytelling before I outline my issue just so it might be more clear. Storytime: I bought a Dell Inspiron 3650 Intel Core i7 desktop for my birthday last year. My birthday that year happened to fall on Black Friday, so I was rushing in between then and Cyber Monday to find a good deal for a pc that I desperately needed. I'm a teenager with too much free time, so I quite enjoy gaming. Therefore, I wanted to buy something that could be good to do my homework on and game. However, this all came with a catch. My parents, who helped fund me in buying the pc, wanted two things. It had to be pre-built, because my dad had once tried building a pc and it failed miserably. And also, they wanted it to be from what they considered a "reputable" company so that if any issues arose, customer support wouldn't be too much of a hassle. So that meant no iBuyPower or another gaming computer company like that, but Dell or Hp or another company like them. So, with little time remaining, I decided to buy this pc: http://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/cty/pdp/spd/inspiron-3650-desktop/cai3650w7pb223 Now, a year has passed since then, and I'm kind of regretting not pushing harder against not building my own, or at least getting one from something besides Dell. (Especially since I've really gotten into Linus' channel, and my friends are now all buying and building monster pc's a year after mine). So naturally, I'm trying to find out ways to minimize problems and improve performance without buying a new pc. Problems: For the past year, I've had some really frustrating performance issues and I don't quite know how to fix them. Firstly, my computer takes forever to launch, like a good 5-10 minutes for Discord and Steam to launch on startup. (Just to clarify, this isn't due to a virus protections system, because I have none other than Windows Defender). Besides that, I've found that lower-level games like Paladins, Rocket League, and CS:GO work pretty well, with me getting anywhere between a constant 60-100 fps on higher settings (still quite not maximum on some games). However, for some games, it's not quite so good. ARK, for example, I get a pretty constant 40 fps on medium-low settings, and Star Wars Battlefront II can get about 50-60 but rather inconsistently. What I'm Looking For: What I'm really looking for is certainly faster startup for my computer itself and the programs and games in it. What I've heard about and been researching is a new graphics card (because I know mine isn't that good), and also an SSD on top of my HDD to put my OS on. However, I'm not sure if these will be viable options, and if it's really those things which are choking my system in the ways listed above. I'm not too tech savvy besides the immediate parts and what they do. I don't know if an upgrade for my graphics card will even help my system that much, and besides that I don't even honestly know if a new graphics card will be compatible with my motherboard and even fit inside my pc. Screen: Oh ya, one thing that I forgot to mention is that my current resolution for my screen itself is 1920x1080. Also, here's the link to my screen: ( http://bit.ly/2AhCmXG ). Honestly, I'm not sure if that has anything to do with anything, but it's just something I figured I might as well add. Question: Okay now that I think I've gotten everything out of the way, I'll try and basically just ask my question without sounding too cheesy or inexperienced. What parts can you guys see that could be bottlenecking my system, and how could I prevent those problems? I'm open to replacing a few parts or even my monitor to improve overall performance, however I just bought a new phone and I don't have all that much cash to work with, so please nothing to break the bank. Thank you all for your answers and I really do appreciate any help or opinions! Besides of course, the people who just tell me I'm an idiot for buying a main brand pre-built pc, because I already know that.

Hi all, I am considering putting a red ledstrip in my case. I've got a storm trooper from cooler master with windowed side panel. However I've got no idea how many cm's I need, does anyone have experience with these leds? I just want a nice red glow in my case. Thanks! Tom

I bought a Roccat Tyon two days ago and have been attempting to figure out the driver software. The problem is I want to change the lighting and create profiles for the large array of buttons (the main reason I bought the mouse). What is happening though is that whenever I have either my BF4 profile active or if I try to change the profile, it does not get applied to the mouse. It just does absolutely nothing and responds with the default keybinds. Does anyone have any idea as to how to fix this? Or should I return it for a different mouse? (in which case, suggestions are welcome)

Hey everyone, new to the forums, show me some love. I am wondering how I limited myself with my recent laptop purchase. I am happy with my Aorus X7v2 overall, the heating and sound isn't an issue for me as I use headphones while gaming and have a pretty beefy cooling mat. For right now, this is my main computer, for browsing, work, and gaming, it excells at all 3. I am wondering though, since this model has a HQ processor (which correct me if I'm wrong means its fixed to the Motherboard) and with the video card setup (which I also assume cannot be exchanged or upgraded), have I totally screwed myself in upgradability? I want to have the best gaming experience possible with this machine, and I was wondering what I can do, if anything, to increase FPS, or anything really. I'm not interested in upgrading RAM to 32GB as I see no real benefit to doing so. I have been toying with the idea of upgrading the Msata SSDs to larger sizes, maybe to 1TB total. Thanks for reading, glad to be a part of this awesome community! I've been passively searching for a fun rpg that: 1) you can customize your character to a good extent (e.g. something greater than or equal to skyrim), 2) its story isn't for only the most hardcore of gamers (e.g. something with a coherent story unlike world of warcraft), 3) respectable graphics such that it feels like your playing somthing like mass effect and not minecraft (i love minecraft for what it is but if your going to argue on the graphics then that's your opinion), 4) A good user interface (e.g. not like darksiders 2 or darksouls), 5) customization of the game settings/video setting/blah blah. hope i'm not asking for alot. thanks!!

In your opinion, who makes the best customizable laptop on the market today? I want to be able to change out the hard drive and memory. Most of the new laptops I have seen are locked down. I want to run the latest windows products as well. Thank you very much for your time.

He guys, so im planning my build and im trying to decide on my psu. At first A wanted to go with the nzxt hale90 v2 1200 watt. I wanted a higher wattage so the psu will run at less capacity and last longer, however now im pretty set on having a psu with led's in it and/or in the fans. My problem with this is im trying to build a pretty high standard build and dont want to compromise on getting a psu that was rated lower on jonnyguru or a similar site. I'd really like a superflower but im in the states and i dont think thats going to happen. My though was to get a good power supply and install led's myself, however im not sure if this can be done or if i'll be able to find instructions anywhere. my pc is NOT going to be moving and for the aesthetics i would even consider an eternal power supply if i could make it work. Any thoughts and suggestions would help greatly.
