In my BIOS for my ASUS ROG STRIX X299-E GAMING I have an option called CPU temperature LED switch. What is it for? It says enable this item for CPU OVT LED function. Does OVT have anything to do with overvolting? I know the board has an overvolt Jumper for Overclocking. I would like to know if it has anything to do with the QLED displaying the temp? And curious Howie

(I'm saying thermal paste instead of thermal grease) Hi guys, I'm planning to build a gaming desktop and wish that it last long. I have seen a lot of youtubers using thermal paste from difference manufacturers like cooler master rather than the one that came together with the cpu cooler. Does different thermal paste really affect the temperature of the CPU? Thank you.

hey, i just changed my thermal paste for my laptop asus strix GL503VS, i assembled it again but as soon as i boot it the fans goes up to 100% both gpu and cpu, not that the laptop turned on normally and temperature reads from HWmoniter and msi after burner are low cpu: around 35 to 40 and gpu not going above 35, when i am not using the laptop at all, but the fans are going at full speed even thought the temps are low. please help, sorry if my english was bad i tried to explain my self the best way i can. thanks in advance.

cpu temperature Is 83c safe for CPU temperature?
Kozouki posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hello, im using an i5-4460 @ 3.20Ghz cpu and the temperature goes up to 83c when I render some projects. Is it safe for my cpu or will it cause damage if I let it render for many hours? Ps: I don't know much about some of the specs of my computer has since this was only given to me and it is second hand.- 8 replies

Hi all, just made an account to post this odd issue I witnessed today and to see if anyone has seen this behavior before. My system is a 3900X on an ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Plus (Wi-Fi) motherboard. I built it in September 2019 and it's been running great with nearly daily use. I keep HWiNFO64 open to display the temperatures and different sensor readings as I'm sure many of us do. This morning while under a very light load (YouTube plus a remote desktop session), I noticed the system getting loud. I look over at HWiNFO64 and it's reporting the CPU Package temperature at over 100C with the motherboard controlled fans ramped up to max in response. Everything else looked normal though, CCD1 and CCD2 temps are idling in the 20's C, EVGA CLC 360 AIO pump is still running. Windows is running along with nary a stutter. I noticed that the CPU Package temp was reporting 0C for a few seconds before the jump. Then over the course of a minute, the temperature walked back to its normal value of mid 20's C idle where it's seemed to have behaved normally since. Almost seemed like an 8-bit underflow. Anyone else seen behavior like this? Didn't find anything on Google. The temperatures were obviously misreported and not real. I'd imagine it's on the motherboard since if the CPU sensed that extreme temperature, it'd shut down. Hopefully this is a rare glitch and not a sign of some hardware problem. One thing is that I updated the X570 chipset drivers a few days ago to 2.04.04.111 from AMD's website. I've kept my BIOS at version 1201 though which is from 9/12. I've debated updating the BIOS to 1407 (released on 4/10) but since things have been fast and stable, I haven't felt the need to risk it. Maybe I'll try it anyway over this weekend. Thanks for any advice!

I have an A4-5300 CPU, which is pretty old yeah. I applied new thermal compound and changed its PSU to a new one. However, I left a few mins ago with this PC on while view a live gameplay from Dota 2. I did this just to test whether or not I will still experience unwanted shutdowns. Sadly, when I came back the PC was turned off so I was thinking there's probably still a problem. Upon checking the CPU temperature, I'm REMARKABLY alarmed and awed with the idle temperature that boils down to as low as 8 °C. I attached a screenshot of the desktop with the running game of DotA 2 but why am I getting 22 °C max temp? My ambient temperature sure is not that low. I'm from the Philippines and I don't even have an AC here in my room. CURRENTLY, the motherboard is not inside the case, it's just on top of my table with no other fans on it except the heat-sink fan. Is my CPU dying? @Kierax Sir, it's me again. I hope you can help me.. This is a spare unit of mine, just want to know what really is happening.

Hey, I recently bought an i9 7900x and when i was stress testing it with aida 64 stock I was hitting 80 degrees on the package. This was worrying to me as I bought a very expensive watercooling rig consisting of an: Alphacool Monsta XT45 540MM Radiator EK Supremacy EVO EK D5 Pump Noctua NF-A14 3000 PWM Fans Looking at other peoples temperatures, I knew this was not normal and I am just looking for any suggestions as to what it might be because I honestly have no idea.

Which processor is best for gaming i5 7600k or I7 7700k for a Nvidia GTX 1080 graphics card What is the normal and overclock temperature of both i5 7600k and i7 7700k processor while gaming At normal clocking how much advantage is i7 having over i5 In my country it i7 7700k costs 100$ more than i5 7600k. Is i7 worth 100$ more for gaming

Hi guys With some help from everyone here, at crucial points, I have finished my Ryzen build: Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 1700 (Planning to overclock to 3.7 GHz with Wraith Spire cooler) RAM: G Skill Flare X 3200MHz Graphics Card: ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1070 Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-AB350 Gaming 3. SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB Hard Drive: WD Black 4TB. Power Supply: CoolerMaster V650 80+ Gold Fully Modular Case: CoolerMaster MasterCase 5 (windowed) & using only 2 fans that are pre-included. Initially I hadn't planned to overclock my Ryzen 7 1700 but seeing everyone talk about the awesome stock cooler, I wanted to give it a shot: AMBIENT TEMPERATURE: 32 to 37 C in India (not kidding!) EVERYTHING AT STOCK: Ran Aida64 Stress Test for about 10 minutes. CPU Temperature at 69 C - - - correction: today was really hot day now the temperature is at 75 - - - - Speed in Task Manager: 3.15 GHz STABLE OVERCLOCK TO 3.5 GHz I couldn't achieve any sort of stable overclock at higher frequency than 3.5 GHz (temps were issue) Couldn't even increase the voltage as it led to increase in temps. VCore Voltage: Auto Speed: 3.5 GHz Temperature: 82 C Max, averaging at 81 C. Ran Aida64 Stress test for 40 minutes & no stability issues ----edit: already answered---- So now my question, Is it safe to run Ryzen 7 1700 at this 82 C temperature? Temps were observed using HW Monitor & Ryzen Master (both showed same readings). EDIT: Thanks to the community for answering my question, but now I have another query. Is it normal to see CPU Temp of about 75 C at stock (on full aida64 stress)? EDIT 2: On searching more, I think problem could even be on the Thermal Paste. So due to some variables, I will mark the best answer now, since my original query was resolved anyways. EDIT 3: Thanks to the people here, all my questions were awesomely answered. Thank you.

First of all I have achieved a stable/quiet(ish) 4.8GHz overclock on all stock voltages except vcore at 1.240V, max temp 84C on air cooling (Noctua NH-D15) and UK summertime room temp of 23C. I am happy with this, life is good, I'm not asking for help with that bit. However, just nudging it up to 4.9GHz and 1.280V vcore without altering any other BIOS settting causes spikes to temps of up to 97C and the weird thing is to me that this temperature does NOT appear to always track in line with CPU utilisation. According to Intel Extreme Tuning Utility I'm getting 90C at only around 50% CPU utilisation in some cases whereas it's at 77C at 100% utilisation - can anybody explain what's happening here please? For reference the plot below is from an hour usage at 4.9GHz, vcore 1.280V, all other voltages left on auto for this partiuclar run. I have speedstep and enhanced turbo enabled, C-state limited to C2, cpu voltage setting is on adaptive, cpu and rear high rpm system simply ramp from 30Cmin rpm to 70C full rpm. I've numbered the peaks and troughs from left to right corresponding to the following periods of usage: 1. CPU-Z bench; 2. Intel Extreme Tuning Utiliy 10min stress test; 3. CPU idle and light usage; 4. Prime 95 running test; 5. Idle because the inital test finished and I didn't want to continuing broiling my CPU. 6. Gaming, Witcher 3; 7. Gaming, Star Citizen. CPU-Z (1) and the Intel utility (2) topped out around 77C while reporting 100% CPU utilisation and 1.296vcore. When the system was idling (3) it behaves as I expect, dropping the vcore down to 0.688v and clock speed to 799Mhz, CPU temp 36C. The Prime 95 test (4) also is what I would expect, 100% utilisation and highest temps at 97C (+13C hotter than 4.8GHz at 1.240v though?). Here is the weird bit - the plot labelled 6 for Witcher 3 shows the CPU running at 4.7 - 4.9Ghz but the blue line representing utilisation is UNDER the green line repesenting Temperature, this is the opposite to every other scenario. The highest peaks of the green line in this portion show CPU temps of 89C and 86C while the corresponding CPU utilisation is 50% and 43% respectively. Number 6 and 7 represent what I actually want to use my gaming PC for, why the temps are so high at low utilisation? Components in use: CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K GPU1: Nvidia GTX 980 Ti GPU2: Nvidia GTX 980 Ti SSD: Intel Raid 0 Volume 500GB SSD: Samsung 960 Evo NVMe PCIe M.2 250GB HDD: Toshiba MQ01ABD050 500GB RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3000 C15 2x8GB MBD: MSI Z270 GAMING PRO CARBON

There is one prime dilemma about the reading CPU Core and Socket temps via HWMonitor software. One is CPU Package Temp and another is CPU Temp. Many Misleading guides but is Package for the actual core temp and 'only temp for the socket temp or the opposite? The package seems like squirrel. No static reading but on the other hand only CPU temp seems very static. I am attaching a screenshot. Ambient is 28'C. Running browser, μTorrent and a movie. Derive. Am I safe?

Hi all, long time admirer, first time poster here. Have a build inside my NZXT S340 (i5-7600k OC 5GHz, MSI Z270 Tomahawk, CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Red LED, MSI GTX 980ti Gaming 6GB, 2 x 8GB Corsair vengeance DDR4 2400MHz RAM, 240GB SSD, 2TB HDD, 600W PSU) and I’m noticing my CPU temps are getting a bit high (40-50c when idle). I appreciate that the S340 isn’t the best when it comes to airflow, but I’m just wondering if my fan config is helping or hindering the situation. Currently I have 2 140mm Corsair AF fans in the front, 1 120mm Corsair AF Fan on the top and one on the rear (both exhausting). After doing some reading I can see that this is leading to positive air pressure rather than negative, potentially leading to the higher temps. I’m tempted to switch one of the 140mm fans for the top 120mm in an attempt to rebalance the air pressure but I don’t know which one of the two front fans to switch (top or bottom). Also, I have a couple of the 140mm SP fans as well and I was thinking of putting that up top to exhaust as with the higher pressure output of that fan it might help to rebalance the pressure? All help and advice is greatly appreciated!

My Ryzen 7 2700 keeps having odd temperature spikes when Its at Idle, its nothing too serious I believe, once it gradually drops to 30C from ~37C it spikes back to 37C and repeats Is this an issue or is that just normal for the CPU to do that I don't see this issue while gaming or doing any other tasks and the temp remains constant

cpu temperature 70+c CAN AFFECT STUTTERING?
XandersWithS posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
If i play games at room without air conditioner, my pc can reach 70c+.. Is it okay? Or i need to do something about that? While gaming, i had a experience kinda like stutter but fps is fine. I dont know its only my imagination or that game is laggy. -
So I got my Ryzen 3 1200 to 3.8ghz at 1.35v I’m on stock cooling and after 30 mins of running aida64 I got 70c as my max temp I don’t think it would go over this for a while because it hit 70 at 10 mins and had no change for the rest of the test. Is this ok for the cpu? I’ve heard below 75 is fine but there are multiple answers some say under 85 some say 92-95 is the max.

Hi everyone!!I need some help here. My computer is having the temperature of 35-39C for idle. To be honest, since I am using a good water cooler, I was expecting that the temperature of my CPU to be around <25C (room temperature). I am sure that the thermal paste was installed correctly so as the other components and I updated the newest BIOs. I read this https://communities.intel.com/docs/DOC-23517 and changed the settings, however, the situation remained the same, the temperature is still very high. I am not sure what was the cause of this. It would be great if u guys could tell/suggest me the best solution for solving this thing. If u guys need more information, I would be delighted to provide but u might have to explain it in detailed because I'm just an amateur in computersCurrent Situation:https://www.dropbox.com/s/sddtqfcwiwbsnoo/Screenshot%20...Extra informationhttps://www.dropbox.com/s/vba20q4evd3qq85/Screenshot%20...Stress test using Intel ETUhttps://www.dropbox.com/s/wsgeedq4dyfszhs/Screenshot%20...My Computer SpecsCPU: i7-4790kMotherboard: Asus Maximus VII rangerGPU: GTX 980CPU cooler: GT H110i water coolingRAM: 16GB 1600mhzPower supply: Centauro XTK-CB-1000M 80plus bronze 1000wCase: Corsair Graphite Series 960tMy goals:Ideal CPU idle temperature: <25CIdeal clock speed: 4.5-4.6 GHzIdeal stress test temperature: <75C

As per my rig (see signature below), I am in need of monitoring CPU core temperature but do not know what software I should use. Isses with the following software have prompted me to look elsewhere: 1. Asus AI Suite III - very hard to unintsall and does not always demonstrate enough usability. Had to uninstall it and go directly to the UEFI bios to overclock. 2. Corsair Link 4 - reporting "CPU Package" temperature to be consistently HIGHER than the average of all cores' temperature and gotten no where with Corsair tech support. That said, I am running at 4.6GHz at 1.3V - I think.

Hey guys, I recently just upgraded my prebuilt pc(ik, horrible decision in my part). Its about 2 years old and I decided to upgrade my gpu and power supply And while the gpu works great, Im afraid that I might be killing my cpu slowly. When playing Blackops3/AC my temp min is around 70degrees C, max is about 92 which is crazy. On idle it sits around 40-50, 60 on light load(games such as leagueoflegrnds)Also upgraded from stock cooler to Hyper T2, the only only one that fits in my case, but seen no difference on heavy load. I have used both HWMonitor and NZXT cam for monitoring. Heres my specs: AMD A10 6700 with integrated graphics 8gb Ram Msi GTX 970 100 ME 600W PSU 1TB HDD Windows 8.1 Hyper T2 Cpu Cooler Additional Noctua 92mm fan for rear exhaust Although I am planning to uograde soon, id like to keep this pc as it is and ifpossible run these games on a safe temp. If you have any suggestions, itwill be greatly appreciated

If I check my Cpu (amd fx-8320) temperatures, they are all different across the board. Hw monitor says 69 degrees regardless of underload or idle. Speed fan reports 70 idle and core temp is 69 idle too. However, amd overdrive reports 37 ish idle and under load 54 ish. Also idle my thermal margin is 0.6. Can anyone tell me why it's different? I got a new core i7 - 4770K and since I run it at stock cooler, I'm running it at stock speeds (4 Ghz) . While rendering it maxes out at 80 Degrees. I've got projects to render, huge projects and render will go on for about 6-8 hours or so. Can it handle it on around 80 degress for those 6-8 hours or should I buy a liquid cooler like corsair H100i GTX ?
