Hi LTT! I currently am stuck with a networking issue and want to ask you guys for some help! So, I live in a 3 story home, with all the bedrooms on the top floor, the living room on the mid floor and my living area on the bottom floor. We pay for 1Gb wifi and are using the router provided by our ISP. My gaming/streaming PC is strictly wired connection to my router, and I also have my PS4 wired. However, I do use wifi for all other things (I am the main internet user in this household) I used to live on the top floor, where I also had my PS4 and PC wired, however, the router was on the top floor with me and provided adequate coverage to the rest of the house below (nobody used the bottom floor of our house). I now live on the bottom floor and since I am the main user of the internet, and require a wired network for my PC, the router has also come down with me. But now the other housemates do not get the best signal/fastest internet on the top floor. So since I still need my PC wired, I hooked up a Wifi extender configured under a different SSID on the middle floor. The coverage on the top floor is better now, but the speeds aren't the best, and certainly are nowhere near the speed we are paying for, using the extender (average 5-15Mb down, 3-5Mb up). Before we upgraded to this plan and got this router from our ISP, we were using a third party router as our primary, which actually has 3 antennas, but now that router is just collecting dust as we are using this new one, which has no visible antennas. My main question was if I could somehow hook up the old router we used to use, and set it up upstairs on the bedroom level, as a secondary router. I want devices to automatically connect to the secondary router when they have a weak signal, and use the coverage from that router as it would be much closer to the devices using it. (Possibly without the use of the extender) I may mention as well that our modem is also on the bottom floor with me and has always been there. I usually just set up the router through the SAT cable ports on the wall and am good to go. My main router is a Hitron CODA-4582U Router (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz) The router I want to use as a secondary router is a TP-LINK AC1750 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit router (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz) Archer C7 The wifi extender is a D-Link DAP-1330 Extender It's worth mentioning that I cannot run ethernet throughout the house and have the router located back on the top floor, I need a different solution. I don't know much about networking, nor do I know how to do this really at all, so try to explain things to me in the easiest way possible please, and any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks ahead of time!

Hi guys, I guess this isn't necessarily aimed at the users, more the LTT Team, but will there be any footage / coverage coming from LTT for LTX? (Fun Fact: I still spell necessarily using a Mnemonic: Never Eat Cake, Eat, Sausage, Sandwiches [ remembering if it's two C's or not ])

I brought an Asus RT-AC3200 wifi router to my new two-bedroom apartment. However, this apartment comes with a router, and we have to use their router and internet without admin privileges. They tucked their tiny router in the utility room in the corner of the apartment, so I thought I would set up my nicer router as a range extender near the center of the apartment. I connected my router to theirs with the built-in ethernet ports in the wall. I thought that this method would: 1) provide better coverage 2) keep me from having to set-up all my wifi devices over again (I kept its old name which is different from the new router's network name.) 3) keep my router from sitting useless in a box Unfortunately, I frequently have very slow internet. I don't know what to blame or how to fix it. I have 25Mbps download from the provider, but today was having trouble streaming 720p video with only one device online. Speedtests usually confirm I am getting the correct download and upload speeds in this configuration, so I don't know why I have such trouble loading and streaming sometimes. Can the routers interfere rather than help? Is keeping the old router name and connecting my devices to it a bad idea? Any settings I could have configured incorrectly? Did I do everything perfectly and it's all my provider's fault? I only have very basic networking knowledge, so any thoughts would be appreciated.

So year after year my YT subscriptions are filled with CES coverage of the most boring stuff. I don't need to know what something maybe or might be available , just put it out and see if I buy it.

Hi LTT community, I need an advice on what/how to cover pretty big house (approx 600 sqm) with Wifi signal. This is how current coverage looks like and how everything is installed. - 600sqm house has pretty thick walls, even inner walls - ground floor side room (office room) has ISP cable modem installed, bound to ASUS AC router, - there are basically no disturbances coming from the ISP side or router side. - there are at least 20 devices connected to the wifi in every moment (if nearby) - wifi should also be available in the 1st floor on the complete opposite side of the location of modem/router Problems and good to knows - there are no ethernet cables going through the house and this isn't an option or something I could do - any IT accessories should be hidden as much as possible (no extra routers lying around on the tables should be visible) - router + modem lies in the office cabinet - being in another room (which is connected to the office), the signal drops to 20%. the internet on 20% is unusable (too much of package drops) - 1st floor doesn't find the router AP at all. - last year, AP extender was installed in 1st floor exactly above the office- it was used as WIFI extender (the one you put in power wall slot)- it was horrible. not only it dropped packages but it also stopped working after few minutes being connected on it. - also keep in mind that the people living in the house aren't born IT professionals so the solution should be really reliable and if one of the parts dies, it should be replacable with and ease. What are the possibilities? - buying more wifi extenders? (https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=wifi+extender), but, where to put them? - buying ethernet-over-power adapters? (https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=lan+over+power&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Alan+over+power), but, will it handle the ground to first floor difference? - buying Wifi mesh system (https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=wifi+mesh&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Awifi+mesh), but, is it really worth the price? - something else? should I use different adapters and bind them together? Please give me suggestions on what should be the best choice to buy and cover all the rooms of house. I will respond to any question coming from your side. Regards Gregor

sorry if this is already mentioned cant check due to search not being there https://www.gov.uk/gosuperfast Government and local authorities are investing £1.7 billion to help bring superfast broadband to over 95% of the UK by 2017. there is a postcode checker that tells you options for broadband in the area dont know if there is any push to make things cheaper for personal broadband but there seems that there is up to a £3000 voucher for businesses which I think can only be a good thing but i do wonder how that will work if it is a £3000 for investment or to keep bills going overtime .... website is brief https://www.gov.uk/broadband-delivery-uk gives more detail with a 3 phase program to cover 90% then 95% and then test ways to provide to the remaining 5% as well as SuperConnected Cities Programme that has broadband connection voucher scheme, Wi-Fi projects and "innovative digital projects" could we see similar to whats planned in New York(?) eventually happen in the UK? as well as investments in mobile infrastructure trying to remove the black spots so everyone has some coverage https://www.gov.uk/government/policies/making-it-easier-for-the-communications-and-telecoms-industries-to-grow-while-protecting-the-interests-of-citizens/supporting-pages/improving-mobile-coverage https://www.gov.uk/government/news/government-secures-landmark-deal-for-uk-mobile-phone-users Full mobile coverage going up from 69% to 85% with guaranteed voice and text to 90% having legally binding contracts with EE, O2, Three and Vodafone

Apple Raises AppleCare+ Service Fees, Launches In Europe And Adds iPods In conjunction with the announcement of two new models of iPhone today, Apple has also made several adjustments to its AppleCare+ coverage. First of all, it has raised the service fees for accidental damage from $49 to $79 each visit. The plan remains $99 for two additional years of coverage, but the fees each time you bring it in for ‘accidental damage’ incidents have gone up $30. Other changes to AppleCare+ for iPhones include the dropping of EarPods from coverage altogether. Apple has also expanded AppleCare to the UK, France and Italy, marking the first time that it’s being offered in those countries outside of the US. For the first time ever, Apple will also offer AppleCare+ coverage for iPod touch and iPod Classic models. The incident fees for this plan are $29 and the plans themselves run $59. Hi Guys I live in the UK and want to know about other peoples views of the UK mobile infrastructure: Is the coverage good enough? (Compared to say the USA) What networks do people stand by currently for 3g/4g Smartphones or 2g only Feature Phones? (Vodafone. O2, EE, Three) Will you be willing to move carriers (networks) to get 4G at a discounted price or quicker than your current network What sorts of speeds have you been getting on your current phone on a certain network Are you even looking forward to 4g? Any other opinions or comments as it is an industry and area i'm quite interested in.

Hey, Just wondering what you guys would recommend for a cell phone carrier. Looking for a decent byod program and $30 a month billl (assuming the device was bought off contract). I understand that doesn't cover most of the "major" carriers but there are alot of pre-paid carriers that seem to be underground. As for my personal needs I don't use any data and would only need at most 200 calling minutes with the drawback being there would be a large number of texts. Does anyone know of a carrier that still just has a low cost unlimited texting plan? Any help is much appreciated, Beefy
