Hi all, I have Fire TV Stick 4K Max and I do not like it much. First it has too much build in amazon ads, and secondly I have a problem that I cannot install Plexamp for music on it. Today I bought NVIDIA Shield Pro, and I thought that I solved my problem, but heck, it does not support AV1 decoding (and my whole plex library is in AV1). What a bammer. So what is the best solution for home entertainment/streaming device right now? I was thinking of getting new Amazon Fire Cube, but I guess I will not like the ads there as well. Any other suggestions? Edit: PS: I am not in apple acosystem and I like having option to sideload apps.

It’s been about three years since this started. I've been a Youtube Red subscriber since like day two of its release. I don't have great internet where I live so it was perfect for me to download videos and watch on my phone when I was somewhere without good connectivity YouTube premium allows you to download videos for offline use. I also use that folder to keep as a backlog of what I want to watch and everything worked fine. I could cast from that folder, add to queue and everything was good. 2020 rolls around and all of a sudden the add to queue button doesn't work from that folder. Everything else works as normal but if you click the add to queue in downloads, nothing happens. It will say that it added your queue, but they never do. I gave it a few months thinking it was just a glitch, but it never went away. I called Google sometime in 2021. They spent a week looking through this and told me it was how this was supposed to work. Functionality just gone and the ui says it is there. Felt a little gaslit, but let it go and have just kept dealing with it. Last year something changed that made that folder even worse. Now when you hit play on any video from that folder, it queues up every video in the folder from newest to oldest. For context I keep about 70-100 videos downloaded at a time and I'm downloading things that I want to watch. It's extremely stupid as if I have a bunch of older vids in a let's play series, I want to watch them first. This is a stupid way to do things. I reached out yesterday as I got tired of it again and spoke to an ai that didn't know what I was talking about. Has anyone else noticed this issue or had any luck sending this broken function to Google where they acknowledge it? I know I can use the watch later folder, but if I'm traveling and not driving it's nice to have something to watch on a plane. Would love to try and fix this since they are raising the prices of premium and this should be solved.

I've bought a 4K Chromecast with Google TV. During the setup process i was trying to connect it to my Wifi but it did not work later I tried on my phone's hotspot still it did not connect and at last I changed my hotspot to 5Ghz and it connected immediately. What should I do to make it connect to my 2.4Ghz network ? Thank You

So I have a customer who's trying to mirror her S10 lite to her Kenwood head unit in her car. The unit supports miracast and it works fine on any other android phone with miracast imbedded (which is pretty much any phone). Particular versions of Smart View from Samsung tend to work better than others. Safety concerns aside, is there a way to change the version of smart view on Samsung phones? I've tried updating the APK through apkmirror without any luck...

Hey! So I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask about this, so please point me in the right direction if its not. So I love floatplane, and the quality is awesome. The only issue I've had is that I can't play floatplane in 4k while casting to my Chromecast Ultra, connected to my 4k tv. I can succesfully play it on my phone, or laptop, (neither of which have 4k displays) but as soon as I cast it to my chromecast, it will load one frame, then load, act like it will play, then continue loading, rinse and repeat. And I even know my internet and tv can handle it, cause I can cast it to the smart TV directly, I just dont like to for other reasons. Like I said, 1080p streams flawlessly, but 4K wont play. Any ideas or suggestions? Internet: 400/20 mbs Connection: 5Ghz or Wired (Neither makes a difference) TV: Hisense H6510G 65" 4K Casting from a Galaxy Note 9, Float Plane app

Hi, I was just watching a stream on twitch on my media computer witch is hooked up to a TV through VGA. The thing is that the computer is old and can't handel streams realy well, and some streamingservices does not support Linux (I use lubuntu). So my thought was to plug in a chromecast to the hdmi port on the computer, then pass that along and out the VGA port to the TV. Reason why I can't plug the chromecast straight into the TV is that the hdmi ports are broken and don't work. I thought there might be some way to do this. The computer is an old HP Compaq presario cq62, and running lubuntu as said. Thankful for all responses.

Viewing distance: about 2.15m(7.05ft) to the center of the screen. Couch won't be here before next year. Position might chage but that is the current setup. At that distance I came up with between 50" and 55". I personally don't like overblown colors but from what I have seen calibration can fix it to, good enough for 90% of people. There seem to be some other issues like tone mapping that I don't understand yet. Also my understanding is that most of the dumb "at review/release time"-issues with this one have been fixed in firmware updates since. Is that the case? Any first hand experience? I have little to no experience with any modern TV OS. People seem to hate TizenOS. I am considering throwing an Apple TV 4K or a Chromecast 4K at it and never touching it beyond initial setup. Will I be bothered? Other options include an LG OLED55C27LA for 1199€ but that is a full class below the Samsung S95B Tier. I know it should be better compared to the LG G2 but those are at 1550€ out of my budget comfort zone and as the reviews seem to suggest superior in dark scenes but vastly inverior in color performance. I think I about understand the implications of WOLED vs QD-OLED. I don't yet understand Sony's lineup. The A95k is at a ridiculous 2.4k€. Sony XR-55A80K for 1199€ or Sony XR-55A80J for 999€. Philips: I like Ambilight and they support both Dolby Vision and HDR10+ which is a big plus. Both the 55OLED707 and 856 are at about 1250€ so technically in range. My flat shares Phlips year old 4k LCD hasn't seen security updates for android in years and takes 30s+ to boot which are both big nonos for me. Also Panasonic which a rep tried talking me into but couldn't explain why. I am worried about the downside of "only" having HDR10+ and not Dolby Vision. Most reviews I have found have done an attrocious job of acctually explaining significant differences downsides, let alone make a comparison what happens on fall back to HDR10. Anything I should understand about what I am getting myself into with an S95B?

Hi, I have a Chromecast Ultra and I have an HP Envy 27s 4k monitor that I want to connect my Chromecast to. The only issue is that the monitor doesn't have built in speakers or a headphone jack output. What options do I have if I want audio? Is there any way I can buy like a smart soundbar or Bluetooth soundbar and connect my Chromecast ultra to that? Or use my google home mini to have the audio come out of there? Looking for any tips or suggestions on how I can get audio out of my Chromecast Ultra. Thanks,

Summary: I want to disable ANY AND ALL Chromecast functionality from my rooted Android 6.0.1 Nexus 5 It bothers me in ways I can't quite explain how the Chromecast button pops up everywhere I'm watching videos. I have casted Youtube videos late at night one too many times and woken up the entire house, the popups are everywhere, on anything from animated GIFs to flash advertisements to videos being played locally. The icon itself is annoying on top of what it does. To take it a step further, it even pops up without being connected to WiFi now. I get that Chromecasts are supposed to be idiotproof and easy to use, but it's genuinely frustrating to have to deal with its constant presence and not having an option to turn it off somehow. I understand that some apps have this button built in (right..?) and can't be removed. All I'm asking for is some way in which I can eliminate my phone's ability to tell the Chromecast to cast anything or even stop all communication with it. I know I haven't made the strongest case for not wanting it on my screen, but it bothers me and I would appreciate it going away. Also, I have privacy concerns. Let's not pretend everything we do on our phones is something we'd want the rest of the family to see... LMGTFY HAHAHAHA I have attempted to look for a solution at least 10 times at different occasions in the last 1-2 years. I still haven't found anything. Googling is easier than posting on a forum - of course I've tried Googling before typing out this post. (Also lmgtfy is considered spam on these forums so don't even do it ironically). Remove the Chromecasts... My family still uses them. I do not, never have, and literally cannot imagine any possible future in which I would. Just deal with it, it's a tiny icon in the corner of your screen. Yes it's tiny, yes it's in the corner. Yet it still bothers me. Just disconnect your phone from WiFI. The icon is still there, and it will still bring up options to cast to nearby devices. Change your Chromecasts to different bands form your phone? 5 ghz Chromecasts and 2.4 ghz phone? No matter what configuration of 5ghz and 2.4ghz either the Chromecasts or my phone is running, they somehow detect each other and the options for all 3 of them are still there. Uninstall Chromecast with Rom Toolbox. I also saw this solution on some forum somewhere. Even with Rom Toolbox Pro, I can't figure out what to uninstall to get it off my phone once and for all. Make a new network for your phone. Um... I assume this means a new device and such exclusively for my use. That's out of the budget range frankly. Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys you have always been helpful in the past.

Hi all I'd like to ask for some information on the 2nd generation chromecast. When watching any content with my chromecast I don't see any adverts on YouTube or Twitch. The reason I ask is because I don't mind watching adverts if I can support the channels I enjoy. Seeing as the chromecast doesn't show the add does this mean that the videos I watch are not receiving ad revenue? Thank you for your time

First of all, I'm not really sure where I should post this topic, so I'm sorry if I post in the wrong section of the forum, and mods feel free to move this to the right section. Hi, so the internet in my apartment is down atm (I am typing this on my laptop connected to my phone). Right now I am trying to stream a video file from my pc to my TV via Plex app using my 2nd gen chromecast which is connected to my TV and my local wifi network. When I turn on my TV and switch input to HDMI (chromecast), I get a blue screen that says it is connected to my wifi network but there is no internet connection. My PC doesn't seem to recognize my chromecast either despite being in the same local network. Why would it need an internet connection if they're all connected to the same local network? Shouldn't it be able to stream the file locally? Is there any way to work around this?

I like analog music media. I own a hifi system which is placed in the living room. In my 3 other rooms I have various types of Speakers. I would like to be able to play the same music at the same time on all of them. My first thought would have been to use google chromecast. But there is one problem I do not no of any solution to play analog music ( cd´s vinyl) over chromecast. Does anyone of you know of a system wehere i can use e.g. the tape out from my amplifier to stream that signal to different rooms/speakers ( I am aware of the possibility to plug a pc into my tape out and then stream it from the pc but it is just a really clumsy solution) I would appreciate any form of advise!

Hi guys, I really need your help/advice. Some background on my current issue: I am currently living in an old school building that got converted to some form of dorm like living spaces. Cheap rent/little renting security type of deal (“antikraak” for the dutchies). When the school moved out they ripped all network equipment off the walls and currently the network is comprised of consumer crap. It is managed by “the IT guy” and is honestly a nightmare to anyone that has ever looked into network architecture. We share a single subnet with around 20 people and the amount of switches is crazy. In the spoiler there is a over simplified diagram of the current network. (Night theme users beware) What is the problem? The network is one big network. Although I don’t really like it, it was never a big problem. Most of my ports and service are locked up tight so I am not to worried about the security factor.(Most of these people think wifi is the internet etc) The problem is my chromecast. I seriously love the chromecast but every user can cast to it. What is even worse is that EVERY time I cast anything at all every android device gets a push notification to control the cast, a feature that needs to be turned off on every single device independently. This is turning into a real nightmare. People seem to enjoy pausing, stopping and fastforwarding my cast. I have been trying to run down the culprit and informing people how to turn off the notification but it doesnt seem to help. What needs to happen? I want to put a big giant wall between my network and the shared infrastructure. As long as they can not look into my network easily it’s fine. When I moved in I tried to set my DLink up as a router with it’s own subnet dealing with its own DHCP etc. Unfortunately someone on the other end of the building was getting his IPs from me for some reason and couldn’t connect to the internet anymore. I have been looking into vLAN but I have hit a limit to my knowledge. Going without DHCP is not really an option, I switch devices and OSes on an almost daily basis. Plus the chromecast doesnt do Static IP as far as I know. Do any of you have any experience with stuff like this and could you point me in the right direction? If you need some more information don't be afraid to ask!

I would like to use my OnePlus 3 as a desktop kind of substitute kind of, I need a way to cast the screen to a display and plug in a mouse and keyboard. I was thinking of using a USB Type-C (Male) to USB-A (Female) adapter, which would be plugged into a 3-way USB-A adapter allowing for a mouse, keyboard, and one other USB device (USB stick maybe.) As for casting to the screen, I was going to use a chromecast. The total for this with the parts I'm using from here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XMD7KPU/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A294P4X9EWVXLJ https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01B0D7PMQ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3U6V4XPQYK6ZO http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815597004&ignorebbr=1 The total for this comes to $70 (espicially since i need quick <5 day shipping but,) I was wandering if this is compatible and if there is anyway i can bring down costs. Lastly, Could anyone recommend any good software which helps android function as a desktop or good desktop to android streaming clients with minimum lag so streaming from two different locations is possible? Thanks everyone EDIT: added cheap ms paint diagram of plan

Hello, all! I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to have my media PC auto switch inputs like the Chromecast does via CEC I believe? There are these adapters but I don't know if that really helps in this situation. If anyone has ideas or has done something like this before I'd love to hear what you've done. USB - CEC Adapter: https://www.pulse-eight.com/p/104/usb-hdmi-cec-adapter TL;DR how could I get my soundbar to switch to the media PC automatically when it wakes up?

I've been researching new home theater receivers lately because an old Panasonic one I was using bit the dust on it's digital input. I like the idea of having a receiver that supports Wake on Cast like my Android TV does. I see that a lot of Onkyo receivers and a couple of Sony receivers have Chromecast built-in, but what is unclear is if I need to keep the receiver powered on in order for Chromecast to work. EDIT: If it matters, my TV is a LeEco Super4 X43 Pro, which I think supports HDMI-CEC? I'm not sure.

I'm experimenting with setting up a media server, hardware: media server pc (hp z400, 4-core xeon @ 2.93Ghz, 6Gb RAM, AMD FirePro V3700, 800 Gb storage) chromecast 2 I've got plex and teamviewer host installed on the media server so i can remotely transfer movies to the server, which is put away in a seperate room. I have the plex app on my smartphone to view my library en then cast a movie to the chromecast, however the movie stutters when its playing on the tv, what could be causing this? I have tried a 1080p .mp4 video file (about 5 Gb) and a 1080p .mkv file of higher quality (about 15 Gb), the stuttering seemed a lot worse with the larger mkv file.

Hello All! I've got a great new 4k vizio p-series tv that I am trying to cast content onto. Here's the problem: I use a VPN on the android tablet remote that came with the TV (using IPVANISH & their VPN app). When the VPN is activated, I can no longer control the TV from the tablet. I have seen solutions such as setting up a VPN wifi network from your pc or running the VPN through a router, but with my current hardware neither of these solutions will work for me. Any ideas on how to control the TV while simultaneously running the VPN? Can't figure out for the life of me how to get it to work. Any guess is much appreciated.

Hey Techies, I have a quick question, and I think someone may have a solution. I've already spent 2-3 hours trying to fix this, and research, but I have had no luck. I have an Epson Powerlite 83+ with XGA(1024x768) and I have a chromecast hooked in with a HDMI to VGA adapter. It works great, except for the resolution. The projector tooks to the chromecast for resolution, while the chromecast looks to the projector for resolution, they both appear to be dynamic towards one another. Is there something that I can put between the two of them that would set the resolution to a static 720P or 1080P. The monitor supports 1080p, but will scale it down. Otherwise, it usually displays my chromecast feed in 1400x900, so i have a significant part of the screen cropped out. Occasionally, the projector does detect a 1080p signal and accepts it, but that is on a rare occasion. The projector will take a static input and display it without cropping, it's only when there is a device such as a chromecast that it doesn't. Does anyone know of a device that could accomplish this? Or is the only option to purchase a 1080p projector? I appreciate any help I can get, Ethan

So, I have a 2010 Mini Cooper R56 which didn't come with Bluetooth or any USB ports. It does however have an AUX port and a 12V. Basically, I just want to connect my phone to my car for playing music wireless. I'd prefer to be able to make phone calls and use voice recognition as well, but that's not necessary. So far I've looked into using a Google Chromecast Audio, and the Belkin Caraudio Connect AUX. The Google Chromecast Audio needs power from a USB which I don't have, and a WiFi network to connect to. The Belkin Caraudio Connect AUX is exactly what I need, except it isn't any good judging from reviews (TechMoan) and is outdated. Any ideas?

The situation here is that I live in a boarding school where I'm seen as a bit of a tech geek. My boarding house master requested me to find a way to display things such as everyday school notices, sports notices and just photos from events that have taken in the past. I'm a bit stumped as I only found way to do this and it's using google's chromecast to go to google photos and just do it from there. The requirements are that its reasonably priced, easy to do, has either online storage or large local storage. if you wanna know the reason for this post, its because we got tired of updating stuff on the usb thumbdrive as we have to take it out of the tv and on a laptop and then back on the tv. it really is a hassle when we have to do this daily.
