Its less than a day old and i wanted to see if at all it was usable or will i really need to pay. Thank you for your time and sorry if I'm the wrong place.

So I was gonna hand down my old CPU, RAM and Mobo to my relative's, while building their new rig, I must have messed up the placing of the CPU (But I was sure it went in smoothly), because after finishing everything, upon trying to boot, it never posted; it only half booted. I decided to see if it was a thermal paste issue, I check, CPU is slightly bent on both sides, and lots of bent pins on socket. It would boot then shutdown at first (mobo leds would light up), then being an idiot, I tried putting it again and it's completely dead . I wanna know if the CPU is still ok, until I get another LGA1511 board to test it on ,I won't know. Only got visual aids.

I was playing frisbee with my motherboard earlier and I grabbed it a certain way that made one of the components bend a little. It went back into place on its own, but it still moves a little if I put pressure on it and it makes a quiet crackling sound. There is a similar component on the western side of the CPU, but that doesn't seem to move at all, so I'm worried. If you can't see the attached picture the compnent looks like a heatsink of some sort to the north and west of my CPU, just beyond the IR2 labelled squares on my Asus Z-97a motherboard. I'm wondering.... What is this component called? Why are there springs on either side of it? Did I break my motherboard and now there are circuits not making contact underneath this metal component thingy?

Wulp was putting it in an antistatic bag because I can't use it till I update my mobo and dropped it. Bent the corner pretty bad, managed to bend it back..almost straight, none of the contacts seem be ruined. RMA is refund only with a 15-50% restocking fee via NewEgg. Think it'll post and run fine if I just try and keep it? No way to test it out as have a z170a mobo without a 6th gen processor to update the bios.

I unboxed my motherboard to see that it has a bent wifi antenna. I didn't think much of it at the time, thinking it was an easy fix later. I successfully posted the system, and prepared the case for the motherboard. Now I don't know if I'm just inserting the board wrong, or if it's the wifi card, but the board refuses to enter the io shield or sit on the standoffs. My dad and I are thinking of using pliers to bend back the metal, but if push comes to shove, will forcing the antenna to go through the io shield hurt the board in anyway? Thanks! P.S I'm using a wired connection for internet, so it's not that critical to the outcome of the build.

Hey guys, I recently finished this build and realized the PSU shroud is kind of uneven from the left side, like the steel frame is a little lower on the left side compared to the right side. I could ask for a replacement but honestly need the PC working and took me a while to install the AER RGB fans (which are a pain in the ass to cable manage btw) so I'd rather not switch to another case for the time being. Anyone suggest a fix to level the PSU cutout like it's shown in the picture?

I need help, I sold my old graphics card on Ebay and the buyer is saying it arrived damaged. The only problem is a bent capacitor, of which I think it will still work AND/OR they could just gently bend it back. It seems like the buyer is trying to make excuses to keep both the card and get their money back.Message from buyer:"When the package arrived, by the looks of the box I knew I was gonna need to start taking pictures of the damage. First off the box was smashed and had a hole in it. Then when I opened the box one of the screws from the i/o shield fell out of the box as I pulled the card out. I cant believe it didn t fall out of the hole. Right away after I got the card out of the static bag I noticed smashed capacitors... The only thing protecting the card was, 3 out of 5 bubbles filled with air and a piece of foam. VERY poorly packed!!! Not only that, I feel like this card wasn t very well taken care of. All of the i/o screws were loose and the one that connects it to the card is missing. The backplate for the water cooler is missing a spacer underneath it on one of the screws. And to top it all off the tubes on the water cooler were not routed right and it gets in the way of one of the power ports, making it impossible to plug power into the card without crimping the tube. The tube is basicly ruined, and that plus the broken capacitor make me afraid to even put this card in my computer to test it. What a mess....."I packaged the card with my own anti static bag and both foam and air bags, the box was also in pristine condition when I shipped it, and I have photos of the card in working order in my case, with plugs and all. I also have photos of the card with no bent capacitors before shipping. He mentions a screw which could just be screwed back, a missing plastic spacer (was always like that has no effect on the card whatsoever), and tubing that is apparently "wrong". The way the tubing is physically how it LITERALLY is designed, there is no other way they can go, it sounds very scammy how he is coming up with this stuff. It's also very suspicious as to how that one capacitor was bent, despite it not having anything that could have come in contact during shipping, the buyer may have simply bent it a bit themselves. photos from buyer: http://imgur.com/a/qNOrWphoto of the card plugged in perfectly fine and working before selling: http://imgur.com/a/0IBl2

Hello there I've spotted this guy selling a CPU(i5 6600) for 100€ (instead of 240€) and a motherboard that he deems broken he dropped the cpu and it seems that a corner is bent(picture),i've been wondering if it's worth the risk(he doesn't know if the cpu work since the mobo is dead) and if the fact that his cpu is bent could have damaged his MoBo and if it could damage MY motherboard Thanks for any reply c:

I picked up a Razer blade stealth 2016 off of Craigslist (not the smartest I know) and I noticed that a few of the m.2 socket pins are bent pretty severely. Due to this I have little to no options in repair. Does anyone know any options or methods of repair? That's for the read.

I need a little advice here on what to do. Nicked three of the pins with my fingernail while removing CPU. The aforementioned fingernail has since been cut.

So, I bent some of my motherboard pins and I used my phones camera with zoom and the pointy side of a safety pin to fix it. I always used the first RAM slot only(Except when I bought the board and checked it myself). I'm on my PC now and it works fine. But the PC will only post with the RAM on the first slot. I did see a weirdly angled pin but failed to fix it with many tries. I think the top of that pin got damaged which makes it look weird. Maybe I should mention that out of stress, I also dropped my CPU and bent 2 corners. Seemed like some layers split but I just pressed them together and it runs fine. Could it be that it's not for a bent pin and that pin is making proper contact?

Hi guys, Intro: I'm an pc enthusiast that haven't been following the latest tech for a while, I usually only search for it when I need it. I have costumed built my pc back in 2012 that unfortunately was boxed for one year and an half (new small home, my laptop fulfilled my needs). Now I have some problems with my laptop cooling system and while I'm solving it, I have found the need to unboxit. Some problems I had: On my computer last months, back in 2014, I was starting to have some recurring issues that pointed all to my graphics card. I have run in to a couple of blue screens and as I recall, it mentioned something related to the graphics hardware. Sometimes, when I booted the pc up, I would get a couple of beeps and no boot. I found out that pushing the graphics up helped it. So, a couple of days ago, I have unboxed it, clean it and make sure everything was alright and I have run in to the same beep/noboot problem, At this moment I notice that my graphics board have the form of an wave (pics if requested), lol, I can assure you there was no impact damage so I can only guess the board didn't handled the gravity over the years well. It's currently working fine, but I assume that sooner of later she will give me big problems and I will have to replace it either I want it or not. If you made this far, I'm always curios to know what you think about this issue, why this happens, and why the board have bend. Due to this, I'm thinking in doing and upgrade! TLDR; So this is my rig: 2 of Crucial CT256M4SSD2 256GB M4 SSD (raid0) plus some couple of hdds for backup and stuff. 1 of Corsair CMPSU-650TXV2UK Enthusiast Series TX650 V2 High Performance 650W Power Supply 1 of Gigabyte SKT-1155 Z77X-UD5H Motherboard 1 of Sapphire 11200-00-20G HD7850 2GB GDDR5 Graphics Card 1 of Corsair CWCH100 Hydro Series H100 Extreme Performance CPU Cooler 1 of Intel 3rd Generation Core i7-3770K CPU (4 x 3.50GHz, Ivy Bridge, Socket 1155, 8Mb L3 Cache, Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0) GSkill 16GB (4 x 4GB)1600Mhz DDR3 Ripjaw X Series Memory with Intel XMP I don't think any part of my pc needs an upgrade except for my graphics card that could use the reform. I have found this graphic card that is within my price range, <€300 XFX Radeon RX 480 OC Edition 8GB GDDR5 - http://moddingworld.pt/loja/index.php?id_product=76009&controller=product But since I am no guru on hardware, I'm looking for opinions, on what I should get, and if you know of any kind of incompatibility with my rig. I have seen a lot of this rx480 and I don't get whats the difference between all the different brands besides the price. I think I understand they are all tuned different, but I ask my self, does it really matters? What I use the pc for: I need to be able to play poker across 3 monitors, and I like gaming as much as anyone else, although that if it wasn't for the bent issue, I didn't expect to change my rig up until at least 2 years from now. I also like to experiment with gaming recording and video editing, although this has never been an priority for me, I mostly do it because I can hehe. Sorry for any grammar errors, as you may have guessed it English is not my native language. I'm looking forward to ear from you, hardware gurus. Cheers from Portugal.

Hello guys, new on the forum here. Just finished my new budget build recently, of which I am very pleased. Today, however, when I took the PC apart to check for something entirely else (my PCI-E 1x WiFi card would not align with the case for some reason? Solved that by bending the case backplate slightly), I noticed that my motherboard is actually NOT straight, it is sort of warped, or bent if you will, in a banana shape. It isn't much, but it's there. I should probably say though, that the system functions normally and all. It just makes me a little worried. It is kinda hard to tell on the pic attached, but trust me, it's there... Should I worry? (PS. The motherboard in question is an AsRock H170 Pro 4S)

AMD CPU pins bent inside socket due to impact
Jogi6 posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
So, I was asked to check a pc that was damaged by some sort of impact during shipping So as long as i'm working with Computers i've never seen one of this. And i'm not sure if it's even possible Apperently a AMD chip pins were bent inside a socket maybe becouse of impact. And the impact was massive. CPU cooler was dangling, and my first thought was that he was unlatched, but then I saw Motherboard has bent. Next i've taken the cpu out of the socket and noticed that pins in one corner (top left corner where the gold arrow is) are slightly bent. And the CPU is going smoothly in and out of socket, but on the other boards cpu can't sit in socket. And i can't believe that CPU socket is also bent somehow. As i sad the impact was massive GPU dented a heat pipe by hitting the FCH (chipset) cooler. What is your opinion on bent pins??? -
Hey guys! So I did my first own build 1.5 years ago, and had this Asus motherboard which had a LED strip that wasn't recognized by Aura, right from the beginning. I've tried absolutely everything, and nothing worked. I was too lazy until now, to RMA it as it had a 3 years warranty. Well, jokes on me, the official asus repair service denied repairing it, saying that it got physically damaged, and there are several bent pins on it, therefore my warranty is voided. What the heck? Motherboard was working fine for 1.5 years, no overheating, no issues at all, and now they won't even fix the led strip because of this. My question is, is it really possible, that when I inserted the CPU, or took it out, some of the socket pins got bent? I really can't believe it, since system was working fine, even on OC mode. When I installed the CPU I put it in some kind of frame, which was supposed to help me insert the CPU in the socket, and when I locked it down with the lever, it was kind of hard to push it down, but since I never installed a CPU before, I thought thats how it should be. However my new motherboard did not have that frame, and it was much easier to lock it down. The warranty guy from the shop called me saying that he didn't even see the bent pins at first, had to call his colleague to show him where is the issue. So yea...Guess I have to sell it like this. Asus never again...first broken monitor, now this.

I bought a used graphics card on eBay and the bracket on the card was bent. I can’t screw it into the case now and it’s sagging a lot even when the pc is on its side. I attached a picture to show this. If anyone can guide me on what to do that would be great.

Recently i decided to change my CPU's thermal paste. When i removed my CPU from the socket, one way or the other a part of my clothes got stuck in the pins of the CPU socket and man are those pins sharp. Anyways i managed to get all the strands off (i think) and looked for bent pins immediately. To my surprise, there were NONE. I finished applying TP and booted the system. What happened then was that the 8gb ram now appeared as only 2 in bios/windows/taskmanager and the only ram stick recognized by the bios was the stick in the last slot. What is troubling me the most is that CPUID shows all 8gigs of ram which, in theory, rules out any issue with the ram or the ram slots themselves. The computer works flawlessly tho. I've attached some pictures of the socket pins and cpu pins that I just took https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=17TKU None of them seem bent to me. Help please ASAP. pins Asus ROG Strix B360-F stock bent pins?
Ferrums posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hey, I bought a new B360-F from Mindfactory and installed it without CPU (because of shipping delivery) I was very careful and this is was NOT the first PC I built, I don't even touched his no-no zone (socket). So two pins are pararel bent, is this normal? If found a picture of a socket that is looking the same on Google with searching for "socket 1151 close up". I removed the socket protection manually for making a clear picture. Thanks for help, and sorry for bad gramma (German) -
I heard even if there is a bent pin on the socket of a motherboard the CPU still posts with some bugs. Is it true? If yes, then is there any software to diagnose about it without physically removing the CPU (LGA 1151) CPU: i5 6500 MOBO: Asus Prime B250m-k
