What is the best bang for the buck storage for the Xbox Series S? As the SS only comes with a 512GB (realistically 360GB ish) of free storage. I plan on having COD MW19, Cold War, Vanguard and racing games such as FH5 and Dirt 5 and such with other story based games. I have done some research on these expandable storages and have seen that they vary between USB 3.0-3.2, what would the difference be and would I benefit from 3.2 compared to 3.0 such as performance, load times etc.

Hello everyone I am considering buying a new gaming rig and going what i call "all out" i mostly game on my pc, but sometimes i do CAD/CAM work aswell in programs such as Mastercam and inventor. In the photo i have attached you will see the configuration i am currently thinking, but what i want to know is- Am i better of getting one of the new Ryzen CPU's instead of the i9 10900 i currently have chosen, ofcourse i would need to change motherboard aswell. i would like to know a better combination of CPU/motherboard for the same amount of money Or i would like to know a cheaper combo of CPU/motherboard for less money with the same performance. ALSO i would like my motherboard to include WIFI. I look very much forward to hearing all of your suggestions! Best regards from Denmark

new parts Pc Upgrades am i good for a while or not?
Jordyboy3 posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
Hello I am currently running this rig (these are the parts I wish to upgrade I didn't include the mobo as It wont work with the new Cpu anyways) CPU: AMD FX 8320 3.50GHz GPU: Nvidia 750 ti RAM: 16gb DDR3 I wish to upgrade these parts into these but I'm actually thinking that maybe the CPU and RAM are not worth it and I should just spend it on a new (better) GPU, so this is what I did have in mind for the new parts (I am a gamer however I do enjoy building and benchmarking PC's much more these days thanks a lot Linus). Mobo: https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-Z170-Skylake-CrossFire-Motherboard/dp/B0126R2LBK/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1486345087&sr=8-6&keywords=LGA1151+motherboard CPU: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-i7-7700K-QuadCore-Cache-Processor/dp/B01MXSI216/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1486343455&sr=8-1&keywords=Intel®+Core™+i7-7700K GPU: https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-GeForce-GTX-1070-ARMOR/dp/B01GVHNW3W/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1486344327&sr=8-4&keywords=nvidia+gtx+1070 RAM: https://www.amazon.co.uk/HyperX-FURY-DDR4-HX424C15FBK2-32/dp/B01D8U2AHO/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1486345059&sr=8-14&keywords=ddr4+ram+32gb Total cost: £1051 I am also open to suggestion if you think any parts are not bang for the buck and you have a better part in mind price isn't to much of an issue just don't be ridiculous and recommend a titan xp or something. Is it worth upgrading? I was going to go all out but I'm starting to think that its not really worth it and I'm just buying stuff for the sake of it (also don't worry about PSU as I don't mind sorting that myself). -
This is a topic for explanation and problem solving with the current GPU pricing crisis right now? Give us you idea of good GPU's for budget gamers, or why high end GPU prices have sky-rocketed!

Hi everyone. I'm looking for the best bang for the buck USB headset I can get for around $100 CAD. I don't necessarly need a lot of features and killing audio, but I will use it at work for an online course I'm taking and for lightweight gaming at home with my PC. Any suggestions?. Thanks.

Hi guys. What’s the best bang for buck system under $400? Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone. So I’ve got a really super crappy system but I’ve been looking into an upgrade. Here’s what i found. Let me know if this is gonna be the best for the price CPU- Ryzen 3 1200 $50 motherboard- MSI A250m $50 ram- ballistix sport 4gb (2 of these for yet another $50) Then I might get a cheap case and an ssd plus some extra fans for the case The total comes to about $250 Is this good for the price or can you guys work your magic and find me an even better system for cheaper? I do have a decent graphics card and psu already.

Hi everyone! I am planning to move from India to Canada this December for a 2yr PG (Data Science) course. Being new in the country, I really want to know from where to buy a laptop and which brand has a decent yet affordable service here. Historical context out of the way ?, my main question is down below: I have to buy a new laptop as a requirement to my course and it should have the following rig: Intel I7 or AMD processor with chipset that must support virtualization 16 GB of RAM 1 TB hard drive Ethernet Network Card Wireless Network Card One USB 3.0 port (two preferred) 3 Yr comprehensive parts and labour (Recommended) Windows 10 Professional Edition My budget as of now is $1600 CDN. I can also stretch a little more if required. I am an ardent gamer as well, so the laptop would be used for gaming as well as college stuff (projects, programming, AI/ML fun stuff) So far, the two laptops that looks good to me are: 1) Alienware m15 2) Asus RoG strix hero Attached snapshots for both. I need some help if there are any other laptops that are better than this and would be great for me. Thanks in advance!

So the rules are simple: I'm looking for the best performing GPU in current games, at the best price! That means we can go from a GTX 550Ti up until the Titan Xp, the value/price ratio is the only thing that matters. To make competition fair: - Average/general Ebay prices only (cards like the RX 480 have great value/price, but you won't find them new in stores anymore!) - As a means of comparing performance, we'll use the Firestrike Benchmark scores from Futuremark (although discussion is possible regarding VRAM and DirectX usage!) - Overclocking capabilities can also be brought into consideration, but any airflow tweaks you need for it add up to the price of course! I'll kick things off by submitting the R9 Fury! At a price of roughly a little more than $300, it has a Firestrike-score of over 15500, which I think gives you guys a hard time topping that already Good luck to all!

Hey, so basically I'm seraching for a GPU to go into my system. I want to spend under 150€ and am currently looking at the r9 290/gtx 780 (amd runs hot and loud, nvidia has only 3gb and no longer gets driver support I think). I'm mainly photo editing and also some Davinci Resolve work and game at 1080p. I want to go used, cause I don't see a point in getting a 460/960 for the same price point. To go into perspective, where I live (germany) a rx 470 4GB (new cause you can't find used once here) goes for 200€, a new 970 goes for the same. 390's go for at least 200 and weirdly 380x's are also over 150€. Any Idea?

Hello kind people of the internets. Quickly about where I'm coming from: I'm noone who is used to good/high quality audio equipment, I'm coming from the "best" 20€ headset I could find at the time. I'm looking to get a decent upgrade in the range to about 100€ and of course I ended up looking at the cloud II and the logitech g430. Now to my question: I'm favouring the cloud 2 right now, mainly because of the much praised comfort (I'm wearing glasses). Are they good for the price? Or are there comparably priced solutions with better performance? (same price better headset, or lightly lower priced headphones with better sound) As I mentioned, I'll probably be happy with the sound of any decent device, compared to what I'm coming from, I just want to make sure I'm not needlessly spending my money on a product that has inferior back-for-buck compared to something else EDIT: These will be used mainly for gaming, but also for listening to so musik. Regards Tyrius

Hi, I am a computer science student in Pakistan and im looking to build a Value gaming/coding pc using used parts. Budget: 800 dollars US. (About 80,000 rupees Pakistani) (no monitor) Build philosophy: I don’t want to spend a whole lot on a gaming pc as I am on a budget and I need maximum Fps/dollar. Games I like to play include Farcry, CIV 5, Assassins creed, cod, battlefield and some pcsx2 emulated games like kingdom hearts 2 rendered at 1080p. Software I use for coding include Python 2.7, visual studio, android studio, eclipse. I may need to do some light rendering but that is not a priority. I will be gaming on a 40 inch tv that I will view from 3 meters (10 Feet). Im not much of a graphics snob as long as the experience is good (never gamed on a pc before. Owned an xbox 360 and I never thought the graphics were bad). Bottom line, I don’t want to spend too much or too little that gives me less for my money. Problems of Pakistan: · AMD CPUs/mobos are out of the question they simply are not available · Ambient temps average 35C in the summers. · Unreasonable markups on new items. CPU: I don’t plan to overclock at all so these are my options if your recommendation is different I can always call and ask for the price. · Intel Core i5 2500 (used): 125$(US) about 12500 rupees Pakistani · Intel Core I7 2600 (used): 140$(US) about 14000 rupees Pakistani · Intel Core i3 4150 (new): 128$(US) about 12800 rupees Pakistani Motherboard: cheapest used thing that has Usb3/Sata 6gigabit. Around 40$ – 50$ Ram: 8gb of the cheapest used ram of a good brand Kingston, corsair, Samsung etc 30$ for a 4gb stick Power Supply: Now im confused shuld I spend the extra money on a new PSU or should I go used. · Antec 500W (used): 35$ · Thermaltake SMART SE 530W (new): 55$ Case: cheapest case I can find 10$ (new or used whatever looks better) Storage: Kingston v300 120GB for 58$ or a 250GB for 100$ (brand New) (I own a 2tb wd green for mass storage) GPU: now this is the most confusing part I wake up every day with a new prospective. Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming (new): 490USD · Asus Gtx 970 Strix (new): 490USD · MSI GTX 970 armor 2x (New): 450USD · Inno3d GTX 970 (the one with 2 fans) (New): 430USD · R9 290 (used): 330USD · Asus R9 270 (new): 220USD · HIS R7 265 (new): 180USD · GIGABYTE GTX 960 (new): 280USD This is my first post on the linus tech tips forums. and if you recommend a different component ill try and get a quote on it asap. Thank you all for taking all this time to read my post and help me figure things out. EDIT* Not Including OS i have a windows 7 licence from my old laptop.

Greetings fellow LTT members! I'm looking for a light ultrabook that packs a punch in terms of performance while still having excellent battery life. Will more than likely not game on this laptop. My pick at the moment is this ASUS Zenbook UX305FA-ASM1 I've got a budget of $500 to $800 USD, I may or may not be able to bump the budget up depending on the deals found. Help me out please!

This is my first post on a forum so don't be mad at me if I'm at the wrong category. Also I'm Portuguese so sorry for my English!!! My question is right up in the title: Does the Asus Z97-P support 5-way optimization and thus capable of one-click overclocking? I´m choosing between to mobos that fit my budget: Asus Z97-P or Gigabyte GA-H97-HD3. Which one would it work best for a simple overclocking experience on a K processor? I know that the Asus's boards have the 5 way optimization but not all of them have and I couldn't find any information if the Asus Z97-P supports this feature... The gigabyte model has an app center which is a utility and in there they have system tweaking. It allows what they call easy tuning (basically one click overclocking) http://www.gigabyte.com/MicroSite/369/images/system-tweaking.html Which one should I choose??? I think Asus one looks better for my build and it has more feature even if this board doesn't support one-click overcloking.

So there are a lot of motherboards out there but which one of these would be the best for their price. There is a gigabyte Z97M-DS3H available fo 75$ the rest is around a 120$, these are: Z97X Gaming 3, Z97M-Plus, Z97-C, Z97-K, Z97 Gaming 3 or a Z97-G43 Gaming. In list comparisson the z97x gaming 3 came out as the best.

Hi guys. Title sums it up all quite nicely. I'm doing a little bit of case modding along building a new comp (both which I've never done). All I'm missing is the GPU now. Specs: z97-a motherboard i5-4690k cpu + tx3 evo cooler 10gb ddr3 ram The case itself is a regular atx metal case as the base. I've removed the top and pieces from the front (leaving the driver+hdd racks? in place). The sides are gona be wood panel and top+front are going to be filter + mesh (so its a pretty breathing thing) This is not assembled yet but just to give you an image what it's going to be looking like.(missing that mesh) picture link http://i.imgur.com/qdZUQY0.jpg I live in finland eu (hence the prices) and I've rounded up my selection to these. (I've considered geting it out of the country but shipping for 1 part+ possible hassle with warranty not worth the 10-20€ save) TL;DR Which GPU would you pick? Considering these things: -Need to save money for upcoming baby (would prefer 200-250€ but already put aside/expecting ~350€) -Noise, pretty open case -Heat, wood on case -Performance -Single 1080 monitor, possibly geting a 2nd monitor in the future GTX 970 new - 339€ (inno3D herculez x2) 0€ shipping Used - 290€ (gigabyte, no info if still has warranty, what version ect. seller very slow to respond) friend can pick this up/possible shipping R9 290x Used/opened package 250€ - from a local store. 12months warranty, emailed me that it's this version (without the game)? this is the reference version?? http://www.club-3d.com/index.php/products/reader.en/product/radeon-r9-290x-battlefield-4-limited-edition.html Used ~200€ - xfx, claimed to be mining 24/7 for almost a year + other similar cards with no info if they've been used to mine coins. All have warranty tho 1-2 years R9 280x Used 160-180€ - xfx mostly, different sellers/shops. Most have warranty 1-2 years GTX 960? Waiting for this anyway, I think it's going to affect prices for new AND used ones. Not sure how it will stackup against these but we'll see. why no gtx 760-770-780(TI) They don't really sell new ones anymore. I've found 760 new for 240€ Used 760-780TI 300-500€ - Might have warranty but don't think I'm going to pay that much for an used one. I'm pretty interested on that 290x but really worried about heat/noise since heard/read bad things about the reference card. Second choise would be that inno3d gtx 970. LMK your opinion on this!
