Used Gigabyte BIOS for years, now installing a X670E Asus Strix, and can't find where to set LLC... Pls help /post a pic

SECOND AND FINAL UPDATE: After thorough testing I've confirmed that this is a software issue with Nvidia which is unfortunately beyond our control. I've found only one workaround and that is to turn off "Extend these displays" and use "Show only on X" (X being whatever your G-Sync monitor's number is) while you play games with G-Sync enabled. I've confirmed that this has completely resolved all issues and crashes for me. I know this isn't the solution you were expecting, especially if you use your second monitor to do other things (e.g. read chat messages) while gaming on your primary, but it's better than nothing as at least you don't have to completely unplug your secondary monitor(s) and can continue to use it as long as you don't run games. Multi-monitor G-Sync will only crash with games running, so you don't need to constantly turn G-Sync off and on while you're doing anything else (e.g. browsing or working). You'll only need to disable display extension while gaming. This solution is mostly aimed at people who use their G-Sync display as their main monitor and primarily for gaming, and only use their secondary monitor(s) for work (for example: if you are an artist and have a pen display connected). Of course, you can always just disable G-Sync altogether and use all your screens as you like without issues, and if you play competitive games (e.g. Valorant), it's recommended that you do turn it off to reduce latency. I hope this thread has helped some of you. Merry Christmas to all and a happy new year. UPDATE FOR ALL G-SYNC MONITOR OWNERS EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE (READ THE DETAILED LETTER BELOW THE UPDATE): I've made a discovery after many tests. For currently unknown reasons, it was having G-Sync enabled with a second non-G-Sync monitor plugged in at the same time that caused the random Windows 10 crashes/freezes. I am still running further tests to figure out why G-Sync was exclusively causing this with a second monitor plugged in, but if you are having the same issue make sure you have ONLY the G-Sync display plugged in and no other monitor. This should solve any crashing/freezing issues (no guarantees of course, issues vary). It seems this is not a new issue with Nvidia, as I found similar threads for other monitors and PC specs from a few years ago, but they were using G-Sync compatible monitors. Well, seems this issue can apparently appear in native G-Sync as well. I will update this thread again when/if I have further news and/or a solution (so other monitors can be plugged in at the same time too). ----------- Hello, I recently purchased a new monitor, the ASUS ROG Swift PG279QM. It's running at 1440p 240Hz and has a native Nvidia G-Sync module. My GPU is ASUS' GTX 1080 Ti Strix OC. Nothing is overclocked. When G-Sync is on, the PC will randomly freeze forever during games until I hard-restart it via the reset button on the case. Here is how the crash proceeds: Game image will freeze entirely and permanently. Keyboard and mouse will lose signal and no longer function at all (keyboard caps lock etc. will not register either, so no LEDs). These two will maintain their electricity but if the keyboard is unplugged and replugged during the freeze, it will not get its power back. The mouse will. Though still nothing functions. Sound will keep playing in the background for about one minute but will gradually lose volume until it finally gets distorted and also gets cut off completely. At this point everything is nonoperational. Important notes: The PC does not, ever, restart on its own, regardless of how long I wait. If I don't use the reset button to restart the system, it will stay frozen like that forever. In this frozen state, the PC's hardware continues to work normally. There is no throttling or fans stopping or speeding up, everything carries on as usual. Since this is not registered as a crash/bluescreen by Windows, but just an unexpected manual restart, there is zero info on what failed prior to the freeze. If during the freeze the PG279QM is turned off and back on, it will turn on with extremely low brightness and no image (the previous game image that froze will be gone). I will still be able to open the OSD but see it just barely due to the low brightness. However, it will retain all of its settings, as the OSD will still show 1440p 240Hz and G-Sync (the LED on the monitor will also remain red indicating G-Sync is on). Note that the settings include the brightness. The monitor does not drop its setting to low brightness, it becomes dark with the normal brightness setting still there. However, if the PG279QM is unplugged from the GPU and then replugged, just like the keyboard, it will no longer receive signal at all, stating that no input was detected, at which point the brightness of the monitor returns to normal. So whatever causes the darkening specifically at least must come from a massive GPU driver crash. I also have a second monitor connected which is a 1440p 60Hz non-G-Sync one. Unlike the PG279QM, during the freeze, this monitor will retain its brightness even if it's turned off/on and/or replugged, as well as whatever image it was displaying before the freeze. This monitor will not lose signal no matter what. Nevertheless, it also stays frozen. I've used various Nvidia drivers, currently using the latest ones along with Windows 10 64-bit fully updated. If this is somehow a driver issue, it has not been looked into by Nvidia in the past 5 GPU drivers now. This bizarre freeze happens exclusively with G-Sync on and always with a game running. Especially if the game dips to 30 FPS (e.g. cutscenes, pause menus capped by the developers etc.). There has never been a crash with G-Sync off. The G-Sync freeze has almost always happened when a game was either paused or going through a loading screen at a capped 30 FPS. I've run many troubleshooting tests. The PC always runs cool even under 100% load for extended periods of time and passes all tests without errors. Unfortunately, this phenomenon is completely random and therefore impossible to recreate and troubleshoot. It could crash within an hour or go without a crash for days. Does anyone have any idea what might be happening? The monitor is brand new and appears to be working flawlessly. I also ran extensive stress tests on my PC to ensure the GPU isn't failing and got no issues. Is this perhaps a problem with Windows 10? I have not tried Windows 11 with G-Sync in games yet. After looking around online I also found the possibility that perhaps my PSU is failing. I had a 1080p 60Hz monitor before the PG279QM so it's possible that my PSU can't keep up with the massive specs upgrade. Any insight is welcome. Thank you for your time.

Would anybody be interested in a metal (or plastic?) bracket that allows AM4 coolers with stock retention arms to be put on LGA 1511 CPUs? Like you could put a Wraith Prism on an Intel CPU. I want to start creating that socket converter, but only if there's enough public interest in it. Else I'll be wasting time and money.

Hello I have a problem with usb c dp mode on a laptop and was hoping someone could help me with it. Let me clear it up a bit. It all started when the ssd suddenly completely died last week, so we bought a new one and clean installed windows. Then we installed all the amd drivers and nvidea drivers for my amd 4800H and rtx 2060 6gb. However, even tho we included the usb c drivers for both drivers we get no longer video from the usb c. Windows always gives a message now with following content "Display connection might be a limited". Before the crash, the usb c port handeld video out perfectly fine. Does anyone know a possible solution? I have tried following solutions alread: - internet off, go to safe mode, use DDU for both amd and nvidea, go back to normal windows(still no internet), install drivers, then internet - remove all devices related to usb and universal serial bus controller tabs, restart and led windows install what it thinks is best - update all drivers of nvidea and amd to newest - install default drivers of manufacturer (very first versions) - update windows - using thirth party driver update program(last resort, still nothing tho) specs of laptop: - BTO laptop, model 15X1087 (i think, bto is weird with its models and its not properly mentiont on the laptop) - amd ryzen 7 4800H - 32 GB ram - new ssd samsung 990 pro 1tb / old samsung 970 evo - nvidea rtx 2060 6GB - usb c port with support for dp from when it was new - windows 10 pro (old was windows 10 education) It would be wonderfull if anyone could help me with this. ps: this laptop is my brothers so it is possible i made a mistake in the specs, tho i am pretty sure this are the specs.

Charges off of type-c versus a barrel type connector like most laptops in its category. This product was probably designed to be paired with their XG Mobile eGPU. It makes it a niche product even though it packs the extremely capable 780M iGPU. More of a productivity laptop that can game without sacrificing portability/battery life for a dGPU.

In order to explain what I am going through rn and why I am BEYOND mad at ASUS I need to take yall on a story. A few years back I bough an ASUS Zephyrus M16. I absolutly loved this laptop. It played video games really well and proved great for productivity. After a year though I began to have serious coolinh problems. The latop would run with 3 cores at around 72 C, and when in game 95 (This is in Forza Horizon 5). It would many times enter hybernation mode due to hitting 100 C! I contacted Asus and they said I had to send it in (buy paying $85 just for the diagnostic)! This price for diagnostic to me was crazy but I needed it for school and I was out of the warrenty period(at the time I was a senior in high school). So I paid the price and found out the cooling was bad from manufacture (the copper itself had an issue, i think it had a crack). I paid an extra $15 to have it fixed. I got it back and the laptop ran like a champ. All was good until a year later (now) the cooling problems came back and more. The laptop can now only hold a charge for around 1 hour, it over heats and enters hybernation mode, and lastly the computer is telling me via the MyAsus app (dog crap app) that the cooling fans are failing!!! I brought it to Best Buy to have Geek Squad look at it (Ik this is a dumb thing to do but becasue I bought the laptop there I thought they could help ur boi out). Pretty much even without testing the tech came to the decison, as well as me, that the laptop is a defect from manufacture. I was told to re-contact ASUS. So I called them. I was put on with one person after waiting on hold for 15 minutes. When I told her my issue she was confused and I knew it was going nowhere after 15 min on the call with her. When I asked to be put on the phone with her higher uppers, she ended the call. Ok, so I called again and got someone who could understand me well enough to have a conversation. After explaining my issue, she gave the the who pay for diagnostic and repair speal. I told her that was unfair and demanded free repairs. She then said she needs to talk to her boss. After waiting another 10 minutes, now I am 90 min into the call, she told me they wont take my call but will email me with what to do. A few hours later I was told to pretty much screw myself and pay them the $85 and for repairs. It is not fair for me to pay for a devices that I bought being a defect from manufature (and paid $1600 which was more than half of my salary as a kid). I don't know what to do and I need this laptop working better for finals coming up. Any feedback is appreciated. I also wanted to show how terrible ASUS's customer service is. p.s. I'm a poor college kid :)

I am new here but i recently bought a per built gaming pc with RGB fan and i can't get them to all sync together properly. I am using gigabyta control panel and when i set all the fans to be wihte some of the end up orange and some end up red only 2 of the fans are the right color any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello, I'm going to buy a PC. I've been thinking about the processor I had in mind: the Intel Core i5 12600KF or the Ryzen 7600. I'm going to use my PC for gaming, broadcasts, video and photo editing programs. And there something a little heavier. Well, where I live in Peru. The price of the 12600kf is $198 and the 7600 is $227. What do you recommend (for performance and updates it is worth paying $30 more for the AMD one)

Forget what size the L1/2 sizes are Meanwhile the 5950x has 16/32 and 4.9 max boost. Assuming here that this would be the powerhouse cpu right? That’s only due to more cores and threads - 100mhz isn’t that big of a change considering I had the 5900x OCd at 5.2ghz, excessive watercooling setup now I’m confused as there’s a 5800x3D. I guess it uses 3d NAND tech for the L2 cache, cool. But we’re at 8 cores and 16 threads…. 4.5ghz max boost so the 5950x would clearly be a slight upgrade, but why not right? I don’t want to do “brain surgery” again so might as well go big or don’t bother - again price isn’t a concern the price difference for the 5800x3d is actually cheaper than the 5950x between the 5950x 16/32 and the 5800x3d 8/16 not to mention slower clock… I’d figure the 5950x would logically be the choice can anybody offer some insight as to why I should consider the 5800? It’s like 60$ cheaper - so what’s the big deal with 3d? I already have a powerhouse of GPU power…. Why would I “want” half the cores/threads and slower clocks? a little clarity would help on this. Either will be overclocked so naturally 4.9 and 16/32 will provide more headroom and stability, right? genuinely confused guys/ladies. Any input would be helpful if you had the money and equipment what would you get, plus why? thanks!

Anyone else deal with this issue? I seem to have a strange issue with my Asus Mobo. I was in the middle of a game when suddenly both my monitors went black and a minute or so after, my LEDs went to their default rainbow settings. I powered off my PC and turned it back on only to get qcode "94" and the white "vga" led came on. I've had this issue before but a quick full restart has fixed it in the past but not so much this time. On other forums I'm seeing inconsistent solutions from bios updates fixing it, to bad gpus, to bad nvme drives. At first I thought it was my 3070 but I swap it for a 1070 I had lying around and I get the same issue. I even tried putting it in a different pci slot. I removed my nvme drive and still nothing. I don't really have a means of getting the latest bios firmware and I don't have a spare and CPU either. anyone got any other ideas? Specs: Asus x570 (can't remember specifically which one. ROG w/wifi) R7 3700x Asus rtx 3070 & Asus ROG 1070 Trident 64gb ddr4 Crucial nvme drive

Made the passage from Nvidia to AMD GPU following a tutorial using DDU, now i keep crashing on fortnite. i know its something related to the GPU beacuse of the crash log i found, i just cant really read it very well, and also because i never crashed with my nvidia gpu before. some more info: sometime i can play for hours without crashing at all, and sometimes it will crash after just 20 minutes in the game. i only play fortnite and overwatch, so i dont really have tested it on other games, but i dont seem to have problem on overwatch at least. i already tried to re install the Chipset and GPU drivers from the AMD official site. i will put the crash log somewhere if the post allows it FortniteGame.log

I'm becoming more mobile and not using my desktop much. I'm considering of buy a 14" laptop for web development and light/casual gaming. It should handle 4k monitors easily without stuttering. I'm considering the Legion Slim 5 Gen 8 AMD (14") with RTX 4060, 32gb ram, AMD Ryzen™ 7 7840HS. I'm used to lenovo's warranty and they're quite good. What do you guys think?

I'm really looking into buying a new CPU cooler, specifically the NZXT Kraken Elite preferably 360mm, I know its expensive but I like aesthetics. Now, would it a good idea to buy a used one off eBay or something? I have had an AIO leak on me before and kill my graphics card, but I was refunded. But because it's used and I'm not the original purchaser, should I still buy a used Kraken Elite? I've been eyeing this listing on eBay

I have just bought a new laptop , Asus's x13 2022 version , and for some reason my laptop's keyboard keeps going to sleep. If i don't use it constantly it will take like 2-3 seconds for it to "wake up" and start actually working. during that time the keys queue up and they all appear at once. When it's not sleeping it works fine. The os is windows 11. Thanks in advance.

Hello! I uppgraded my PC and used my old liquid cooler. An Aerocool Pulse L240f, but the cable that is supposed to go from the bottom of the block is missing. As far as I understand that cable is a 5V SATA power connector to a small 5 pin connector to the block and is supposed to give the rgb the power it needs. If anyone knows the name of this cable so I can order one I would be very thankful. Here is a couple of pictures from the manual where i circled the particular cable in question. Thank you.

Recently I have bought a pc with msi b760m gaming plus mobo and gigabyte eagle rtx 4070 super but msi center doesn't detect the gpu can't control fan or most importantly the logo's led. Tried rgb fusion 2.0 and gigabyte control center these app doesn't even open. What should I do? I am not facing any problem apart from annoying color on the logo. Thanks in advance

Hi all, I want to upgrade my Ryzen 3600X to either the 5700X3D or 5800X3D. I've never upgraded my CPU before, I've always just gone to the next generation socket that requires a new MOBO in the past. Other than upgrading the BIOS to support it, Is this process just a simple swapping process? - Would I need to reinstall Windows? - Uninstall old drivers or something beforehand? specs: Ryzen 5 5600h 16gb RAM for some reason, hovering over the battery icon shows 4hrs of life remaining at 100% ! shouldn't it be higher? about 6hrs+ ? Im only using the browser with a couple tabs and having an office app open. I haven't even begun doing any video editing/ photo editing. Not even played any games on it yet.

I use a 3440x1440p monitor, so would be nice to be able to play most games at 60fps high settings. Other details: I am currently rocking a Ryzen 7 2700X (8c16t) and a Radeon VII GPU and I am starting to consider upgrading to something more modern. Not sure what the best path would be, thinking of going the 7800X3D route for the CPU, but factoring that and a new motherboard, I am wondering what GPU would be an upgrade to the Radeon VII I currently have without going crazy with something like a 4090. I have an 850W power supply that I would like to keep. I am OK with going used for the GPU as well, just not sure where to start.
