Budget: usd $1500. Country: Nicaragua (a very very hot and humid country in central america). Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: work related: VS code, Remote Desktop connection, many tabs open in chrome. For gaming: Valorant, LoL, Fall Guys. Other details: I'm coming from a Dell G3 laptop with an i5 8gen, 8GB of RAM and a Geforce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB. I already have peripherals and a Monitor (27' 144Hz 1440p). I might buy another monitor at a later date. I just want to play at 1440p at 100+ fps refreshing at 120Hz minimum. Aesthetics and RGB are very important. Finally I'll leave the build I have put together on pcpartpicker. The idea is to build this pc in the following 3 months. Appreciate the help in advance.

Hi! So, following some greatly appreciated help here on the forum with putting together the shopping list, as well as a lot of help from the PCMR Discord server during the arduous 9 hours of building, I can finally show off the finished product (pending peripherals upgrade). Call it a mini-build log if you will. Huge thanks to everyone who helped me out along the way! You can check out the full spec list for the build here: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/mHp7mr The finished build, in case you don't care about the process leading up to this. I'm going to swap out the right side monitor to fix the change in height between the two (which also gets me more than 60hz refresh rate) Parts arrived and prepped for assembly Case mostly prepped - let the build begin! I assembled motherboard, CPU, RAM, and CPU cooler before putting that into the case. I quickly realized the second fan on the Noctua NH-D15 cooler interferes with the RAM, and moving it ever so slightly interferes with the glass side panel on the case. The best solution I came up with was to run the CPU cooler with only the middle fan installed. GPU installed - but it's sagging. Damn these new heavy cards! With great effort, I installed a GPU brace support The first bootup And again, I present to you the final result: I haven't had time to test many games yet, but this thing absolutely handles Star Citizen as well as I'd hoped (200+ fps in space, 40-80fps in heavy cities, in v3.19.0 PTU. Sitting around 4.8ghz on the CPU with mostly 60c degrees). I also ran it through 3D Mark Time Spy for some context, you can see the results here: https://www.3dmark.com/spy/38380467

I'm trying to have some RGB light strips behind my desk that will provide essentially a backlight behind my workstation, but I want them to be synced with my RGB inside my rig. I'm using ASUS Aura Sync (ARMOURY CRATE) for my GPU and fans and I'm wondering if there's any solution that will allow everything to be synced. Anyone able to help or have examples of their own setups that I can take inspiration from? I really appreciate any and all help with this as I'm kinda lost and overwhelmed.

So, my cpu is air cooled and i want to upgrade to a watercooling system. I want to buy an Corsair iCUE H100i ELITE. I already have 3 QL 120mm fans in the front and one in the back, but the cooling system comes with the ML series fans. I wanted to ask if it looks dumb if i have 2 different types of fans in the same build? Do you even notice it? I have made research on swapping the ML fans for the QL ones, but this woud be a major cooling power downgrade. Is that true? (i have a ryzen 7 3800x, i think its known to get pretty hot)

The goal is simple. Downsize, upgrade, make it look fantastic, keep it really cheap, build it with superior materials, pack in as much power as possible, leave room to upgrade, and use it to leave my female counterparts totally smitten. It also has to fit the aesthetic of a new house I haven't moved into, and be all available for delivery to my house in the remote wilderness of Ireland. Like I said simple. ---- Goals ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My current build is in my signature, it's bugging me. It's been evolving in bits and pieces for almost 8 years now, the design ethos was: "whatever works, whenever there's money". Nice as that is, and although I picked up some very good deals for sheer price to performance my platform is now outdated and frankly - it really doesn't look that appealing, alongside starting to chug like an old turf chimney. Here she is lit up in white, for visibility - not strikingly pretty anyway.. So much unused space, so poorly spaced out Forgive me community, for I have sinned... My list of visual ailments is likely familiar to any builder ailed by lacking funds and not much desire to work on his own rig: Cable management is akin to Medusa's straightening routine in effort invested and effect achieved. The power supply is exposed, and totally un-modular, I do like my plugs thick and my ports plugged, but not like this. The plastic window is scratched and dusty, a little warped and genuinely unappealing, although I can relate I don't want it on my desk. The CPU cooler is unfortunately large, it might look better with a fuller PC but in such a small frame it's almost cartoonish. I have some sympathy for that state of affairs, but still. My GPU looks goofy, and out of place, neither fitting the theme neither being in suitable proportion with the rest of my componentry. There's so much free space, yet I find the case too large. I could live with this a while longer if it wasn't starting to slow down a lot in daily use - that's gaming, video editing, never closing 100000 chrome tabs and virtual machines. It's time for an upgrade. With Ryzen around the corner I seized all the assets I could (1000 euro) and set to designing something that appeases the following goals A downsizing, any downsizing is good but I did want to go mATX. This is the only area in which I have failed, moving to a smaller ATX case instead. I aim to minimize empty space. Very clean, industrial design with straight lines and plain panels, a premium, professional seeming colors - pleasing interior proportions and reasonably low noise output. A clear improvement in performance, and an affordable path to significant upgrades in the future, without having to swap out components or negatively impact its aesthetic value High quality materials and avoiding the gaudy at all costs, tempered glass is a big element of that for me because I find the cheap plastic windows abhorrent ---- Part selection and rationale ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Case The very first component choice to enter the battleground was the case, I wanted smaller than my Fractal Design Define S, but was almost totally set on a tempered glass window. I also needed cheap, go figure.. Due to needing a lot of IO in my life, it's probably better that I bought an ATX board. So that left me with: Small, cheap, ATX case, complete with a tempered glass window and clean design. Y'all can probably guess where I went from here - The NZXT S340 Elite. At a whopping 14% less elongated than my Define S, while being slightly taller and equally deep, I've most surely failed with a serious downsize - as frustrating as this is the S340 Elite ticks every other box. It's beautiful, clean, well built, generously endowed with a fantastic tempered glass window and enough space to fit any future upgrades while not being excessively large. I love the sheer cleanliness of this case, so sleek, so uniform, a great interior layout - and best of all? I can get it for 99 euro over at http://www.komplett.ie/nzxt-s340-elite-zwart/80045367/details.aspx?channel_code=1199&s2m_product_id=80045367&utm_source=adwords-shopping&gclid=CN-fvKPws9ICFaK87QodaRoMaA Motherboard, CPU, Cooler, and RAM The most important component of this build is the CPU as it's the part I'm least likely to upgrade. I want to grab a platform, and stay with it - but my budget most certainly does not lend itself to picking up totl chips. The Ryzen release was the deciding factor in this long awaited rebuild, not out of brand loyalty but out of sheer price/performance juiciness. I got a great deal on my FX8350 and have seen generation after generation of gradual performance increase from Intel - not something dreadfully appealing to those of us strapped for cash. The R7 1700 is perfect for my approach. With the full 8 cores and 16 threads of it's bigger siblings I would speculate that its value will practically multiply with a good overclock, which does leave one a little dependent on the silicone lottery, but with the value presented that's a risk I can take. It's also bundled with the Wraith Cooler which.. I know I have a nice cooler as is but for the ease of transfer, and cost considerations, I plan to use for the first little while of the new computer's life. At some point I will purchase an AIO to fit to it and that's when I'll attempt a decent overclock, but with the Wraiths thermal and acoustic performance with the 125w Bulldozer chips I'm sure it can handle the 65w R7 1700 perfectly. In terms of motherboard, I'll be waiting for the first few reviews of X370 ATX boards before making a decision but it'll be among the cheapest few - I currently have earmarked the Gigabyte AX370 GAMING K3. Deciding factors will be aesthetics and included I/O - pray for me y'all For RAM there's an amazing Prime Deal right now selling a 16GB kit of Crucial Ballistix DDR4 Memory for 82.62 Euro GPU As I was resolute on purchasing the aforementioned components, I new that the rest of my search would revolve around squeezing as much money out for a graphics card as I could. I found the XFX Radeon RX480 8GB with the reference cooler going for a poultry 245.83 euro at https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01H3P9CKI/?tag=pcp0f-21 . Especially after the continued software improvements for the 480 it makes for a slightly better value proposition than the GTX1080, and furthermore I fully plan on buying and equipping a second when budget allows. The clean and mostly (aside from the Radeon logo that is) neutral look to the blower-style RX480 will fit in wonderfully with my build and I have no problem going SLI despite the consensus towards getting a better performing single card as my budget simply won't allow for that right now. PSU The PSU was an easy choice, fully modular, any form of 80+ certified 500+watt PSU. I was able to find the EVGA SuperNOVA GS 550w Fully Modular power supply from https://www.cclonline.com/product/182244/220-GS-0550-V3/Power-Supplies/EVGA-SuperNOVA-550SW-GS-Power-Supply-Unit-80-PLUS-Gold/PSU0897/?siteID=8BacdVP0GFs-ykpLCm8Gqfdai458AeeaEw for 93.82 euro. It can even remain hidden beneath that lovely shroud on the S340 Elite. Other Parts Storage, Fans, and my RGB controller will all be coming, thankfully, from my current build, leaving me around 70 euro above my stated budget, which I'm sure I can find from somewhere ----Fin, for now--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It may be two or three weeks before I can order these parts but the money has been set aside and the build will soon move forward! This build ought to be cheap, powerful and beautiful with plenty of room for future expansion. If anybody has any thoughts or comments on where I should take this please let me know! Eagerly awaiting any response Ya boi, King of Hip Hop, Tadgh

Which board do you think will suit the build better? Speaking only aesthetic here. PCPP Pictures below Case: NZXT S340 (White) CPU cooler: Cooler Master Hyper T4 (20USD cheaper than a 212 EVO) GPU: Sapphire NITRO+ RX 480 8GB RAM: 2x 8GB DDR4 Kingston HyperX Savage Black Edition 2133Mhz SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB HDD: WD Blue, 1TB PSU: Seasonic M12 520W Which do you think will look better? I'm personally leaning towards the Arctic Board 1, MSI B150M Mortar Board 2, B150M Arctic Mortar Thanks in advance!

So, I'm building my new PC and I have a dilemma. I am using a closed loop liquid cooling system for my CPU 1st option: Mount my Radiator at the top (blowing air out the top) and keep all my HDD bays (5). This radiator has 2 140mm fans. Doing this would also force me to not use an exhaust fan in the back (not a huge deal, at least I dont think it will be). I will have 3 120mm intake fans in the front. Also slightly concerned if my GPU will cause my cpu to get warmer temps with this orientation. 2nd option: Mount my Radiator in front as an intake (still 2 140mm fans). This would force me to remove all my HDD bays (I have 2 ssd mounts and 1 hdd mount next to my psu). Using the HDD mount and 1 of the 2 SSD mounts. Currently have 2TB HDD, 500GB ssd and 250GB nvme m.2 storage. I can then mount 3 fancy LED 120mm fans on the top as an exhaust. Moving my Radiator to the front will also free my rear exhaust fan spot up which can be either a 140mm or 120mm fan. If I need more storage in the future, I could buy a second ssd to fill my 2nd mount (but would also cost much more than an HDD. Would having 4 exhaust fans hurt my case airflow too much? I feel like it would. Small recap: I would gain more Storage space for possible future needs but lose the flashy LED fans and a rear exhaust fan. I would gain more looks and an additional fan with the 2nd option. I would mostly be using my storage space for games. I suppose I could always buy a very large 2.5in HDD for all purpose storage as well. For files I don't need to load as quickly as others. Thoughts?

Hello everybody, I've been browsing threw many many cases but still didn't find the perfect one for me. I hope you can give me some Input. I found two cases that I like really much. One is the Corsair 450d with the side window and the other one is the phanteks Enthoo M Tempered glass. Corsair has the better Airflow, since in the phanteks case one radiator gets pretty much blocked but the phanteks overall looks better. Since I want a case that looks similar to these but I can't find more of them I hope you can help me out :-) Greetings

I'm thinking of buying a new gpu. I noticed a few of these cards on sale, which seems like a good deal. Red One White One I know from reviews that the red one is very quiet. I can't seem to find any for the white one, or the armor version. I'd rather get that one if it's not much different, because it would match my PC better. Anyone have experience with these?

Aside from using tempered glass or case, Are there any other ways to make smartphone looks cooler?

So someone gave me this old g5 Mac Power PC (No I ain't an Apple fanboy) and I found out that it was super scuffed up. So, since I can't stand the look of it ight now I took a picture of a different one of the web and did a bit of PS on it to get a Portal kinda theme going on. I do know that I can go a bit over board with PS and I regret some of my decisions in the past when doing so. Anyway let's cut to the chase. Does it look decent at all? What I'm trying to do is make it look like a system that may be used for file recovery for Glados (And before you say that it wouldn't make sense, remember that Cave Johnson literally drank jillyjuice that came from the moon! So yeah that happened.) or whatever. mac-prototype.psd

A client is asking to have a computer built to look like a 1950's car interior. The picture he gave me is attached. He wants it done in wood grain, teal vinyl, and chrome. Awesome idea to me, I'm excited. He's asking to have a chrome push-button to start the PC, with a chrome pull-out ashtray and functional chrome push-in cigarette lighter. I have all the parts selected for these components, but I don't know how to wire the cigarette lighter/what to wire it to - I'd like to know, but he said one of his buddies can handle the wiring if I can get it onto the PC chassis (this is no problemo). I'd rather be able to do this all myself, rather than depend on someone else to come in after I'm done, and hope they do not start the thing on fire. He also told me he wants a chrome volume knob that works, and I told him unless he wants to research how to write drivers for a device that I don't know how to wire into a system internally, this is better suited for a properly selected keyboard. He seemed to understand the challenges with doing this. (If you have ideas for this, let me know.) Also, a lot of the components will be black tones. I'd like to avoid black fans to limit the dark components in the build, but don't know what my best options are. I'd love chrome fans, but don't know if anyone makes them (not that they'd be great fans, anyway). He wants the PC to be as quiet as possible, and the parts list (below) dictates that this PC will need at least three good quality fans for cooling (I'm planning two intake, one exhaust). This may be one of the only builds I see the Noctua aesthetic working for. But I'm not too sure I like how it looks in my head. Let me know your thoughts. Parts list (tenative): AMD Ryzen CPU (waiting for fall launch) Cryorig M9 Plus (or AIO, depends on CPU TDP) NVidia Geforce RTX 3080 graphics card Gigabyte B550 Aorus Pro AC motherboard G.Skill Ripjaws V 32gb (2x16) 3600MHz CL16 RAM Samsung 970 EVO 500GB NVMe drive Seagate BarraCuda 2TB platter drive Seasonic Focus GOLD 750W power supply Cougar MX-330G case Fans TBD

So, let's say I get 4 sticks of 4gb ddr4 instead of 2 sticks of 8gb ddr4. Now would this effect my performance at all? I think it would be very aesthetically pleasing but I'm not willing to sacrifice function for form. Thanks in advance

As per the title. I recently purchased it, and really I'd like a my second display to match, but I don't need the 144Hz, and I'd like it to be somewhat useful as a grading monitor. It's really just getting the bezels to match as I get easily distracted by visual difference on my desk. I'm looking at these but I'm not sure... https://www.amazon.co.uk/BenQ-Animation-Anti-Glare-Flicker-free-Adjustable/dp/B06XWS3PHV?th=1 That is perfect... BUUUT it's not VESA compatible so I'm not interested. I'm not sure if this monitor even exists, but I hope it does. Any help getting me to my a e s t h e t i c goals is appreciated.

Okay so I really need a new pc case. I have been looking for a while and would like some opinions on what the best case with very little sound (My pc is on my desk to show it off this means it's only 50cm or so away from me) while also having a very visually appealing design ( I would REALLY like a tempered glass side panel) my motherboard is atx and i would like space to support watercooling if i decide to go that way in the future Also (if this wasn't hard enough already) I don't really want to completely break the bank on this as I am thinking about upgrading the guts of my machine too feel free to give suggestions on fans and other cooling solutions that fit this if you wanna

Hello Forum! Let me start off with saying that I know very little. I've recently decided to make a new PC that is focused towards a black theme, with a colour scheme of components and LEDs that is NOT RED. Red won't work :). Blue & possibly a mixture of other colours would be most welcomed. Blue and orange..? I am not sure! I want the PC to be future proofed for 5 years and to use a well designed case. At this point I am considering Lian-Li PC 08. Or simply another well designed case, I want something that can be put into a living space and not look like a mere box with hardware. Following the layout aid I found stickied to the front of this forum I will try my best to answer the questions it suggested so that I can help you.. help me. 1. Budget & Location Location: UK (£). Budget: £2000-2600ish ($3700-4000ish). (Excluding monitor & Peripherals) Parts I think I've settled on: CPU: i7 6700K GPU: GTX 1080 x2 CPU COOLER: Some of the closed loop coolers like the Corsair H100i (or better, I have not looked at their newer models) or a more silent solution offered by coolers like BeQuiet! Dark Rock Pro 3. No other parts have been picked at this point in time. 2. Aim The objective of this machine will be primarily for gaming for the intensive tasks. I want to achieve a smooth 4k experience in mostly shooter games like Battlefield 4, or the upcoming Battlefield 1 as well as Star Citizen. I will occasionally play other games but I assume a machine that can provide a smooth experience to the above will handle them (modded games like Skyrim, Cities:Skylines). 3. Monitors At this time I am considering a single monitor and I don't think that will change. The monitor I have picked is the Acer Predator X34 Gaming Monitor. I like the idea of a single monitor over multiple. Immersion, how it looks like in a living space (open plan living room) etc. Also it would be tricky to afford 2-3 of these :)... 4. Peripherals Peripherals.. Yeah I will purchase some. I have not really decided upon this as of yet. I know I will want a Zowie mouse. As for the keyboard, I am unsure of this. I will want to purchase speakers that match with the stylish.. aura of the case (at this point the Lian Li PC-08 in my mind). Also a webcam, mouse mat.. pretty much everything. Price is not that big of a concern, I have saved up a lot of cash to make this sort of build 'happen'. 5. Why are you upgrading? I need a new rig. I did not future proof my last PC although it lasted me for 5 years so I am happy with it. I also require a great design consistency, LEDs & part picking to be at work, my last PC was just a bunch of well functioning components, thrown together by a friend, in a case that stood out of the limelight. I do apologize for the long post. I wish I knew more but seeing as I don't, I humbly submit myself to the expertise of this forum Let me know if I missed out anything, I am rather new to this sort of thing. Many thanks, Griz

Hello, I'm in the market for a new case. my current NZXT phantom original case is start to fail me. So now I'm looking for a new case, so any recommendations would be great and helpful. But I am looking to stray from NZXT... I'm looking for something that has noise dampening stuff in it, is windowed, is a full tower case, and support a custom loop and/or an AIO loop. Like I said before any and all recommendations are great and helpful. Thank you!

Hi guys. I already have a custom water loop in my system integrating my cpu and gpu. My blocks and fittings are black, with clear tubing and white liquid. However I am changing my tubing soon due to it getting dirty and I'm replacing my motherboard. I'm unsure on what to do.. I want to stay neutral because I have rgb lighting etc.. I'm thinking of either: -Black blocks -Clear tubing -Black liquid -White fittings -MSI 97a Krait edition mobo OR Keep the same config I have now (white liquid, black everything else) I'm also using a fractal design define R4 case. Any suggestions would be welcome:) Thanks!

I love the look of both of these builds but which build would offer better performance? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/4Cjzxr or http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2K2wnQ Yes, I know there is know CPU cooler. I will add one later. (preferably an H100i GTX)

So I got some great responses on my black and gold case forum thread. I'm now questioning this colour scheme as it doesn't seem very common and there aren't any LED colours I think would go with it. So I wanna hear from you guys! What're your favourite not-completely-black cases. White cases, blue cases, black cases with coloured accents. Let's see some sexy, vibrant cases.

I'm looking for a black and gold case. How do I go about searching for one? Googling yields nothing. Do you guys know any good cases in this colour scheme?

Okay, so I have a NZXT s340 Elite, Hyper 212 Evo Red LED CPU cooler, and an Nvidia reference design 1080ti. The motherboard is the Gigabyte z270x Ultra Gaming, it has RGB lighting. Can I get some ideas for helping the aesthetics and just making it look better in general? I don't have issues with replacing some parts, such as the LED cooler but not the more expensive parts. Very open to ideas. It's a mashup of mismatched colours. HALP
