Hi, I'm looking to upgrade the ram on my Acer Nitro 5 laptop (model #: an515-57-919c. Series: an515-57). Specs CPU: i9-11900H GPU: RTX 3060 Storage: 512g SSD RAM: DDR4 16g 3200MHz I am planning to replace my old single ram stick of SK Hynix DDR4 16g 3200mhz with two 32g 3200MHz modules because I will be doing 3D modelling, using Photoshop etc for university and I will need more ram if i'm gonna be using such demanding software. I was hoping to get some ideas on what ram is compatible with my laptop and which brands of ram are worth choosing. Budget isn't an issue but obviously nothing overpriced, I don't want to be paying more for something that offers the same performance as something cheaper. I do live in Australia and want to get my ram from a local business so keep that in mind whern picking out ram. I'd prefer not to order from Amazon (just a personal preference of mine) but if the only compatible ram sticks are available there then I will make an exception. If I forgot to mention anything or if you need further information just let me know. Master Yoshi

I just want to ask if Acer Nitro 5 AN515-46-R8H3 with Ryzen 6800H and RTX 3070 has a MUX switch? It is currently on sale at my local store for around 902 USD. Is it worth buying?

Hey friends, I'm new here so please direct me to the right channels if this isn't it. I could use some help with my ACER NITRO AN517-55. Essentially, the title says it all. First, about my setup: ACER NITRO AN517-55 Processor 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12500H 3.10 GHz GPU NVIDIA RTX3060 Installed RAM 32,0 GB (31,7 GB usable) System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor Edition Windows 11 Home Single Language Version 22H2 Installed on 2023/06/15 OS build 22621.2070 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22659.1000.0 Everytime I connect an external video imaging device via USB to the laptop. ALL the audio I/O disappear from windows and Audio cuts out. Currently, this has only happened with the two cameras I own; the Logitech c920s the Microsoft Kinect V2 (the SDK for this is installed, I've had no trouble with it on the other laptops I've used it with.) This Audio I/O issue affects any and all connected audio devices wired or wireless. All onboard, Bluetooth audio, and external soundcards cease to function once the external camera is plugged in. The cameras themselves are unaffected as far as video is concerned, but their onboard microphones are also unusable. I've tried the following fixes: Downloading and reinstalling audio drivers from ACER Removing and Rescanning connected audio devices in device manager. Uninstalling all new programs installed since the issue was detected. Nothing has worked apart from unplugging the cameras. That being said; the Quick volume settings taskbar also bug out quite a bit even when none of the cameras are connected. audio sources appear and disappear from that part of the UI at their convenience. I usually have to open the sound system settings to switch between outputs even when they are functional and available. I'd meant to use this laptop for some Live AV/VJ work and audio prodduction. For reasons I cannot avoid, it had to be windows. Could use some advice on whether this is an ACER issue or something else as I need both Video In and Audio I/O for my AV work. I use windows almost exclusively with these same devices and haven't had an issue with my earlier Maingear Element or LENOVO laptops. Please let me know if other information I might provide could help. I came here because the LTT channels always seem to steer me right. P.S. Attached is a rough video from my phone shoeing the issue in real time. VN20230731_185117.mp4

I have an Acer Nitro 5 - AN515-52 with i5-8300H CPU. When I run Cinebench R23, It hits a maximum of 2.3GHz base clock speed instead of 4 GHz Turbo Speed. Sure Enough, In HWiNFO, It says that Turbo is Disabled. But When I searched for workarounds to enable it, Almost all of the forums say its enabled by default and the remaining says to tweak some settings in BIOS. But when I jumped into BIOS, There is no such settings for me. I have attached my HWiNFO. It would be life saving if someone could help me out.

Hello, I've been trying to install a 2.5" 500gb seagate drive in my laptop (acer nitro 5, amd version) to get some additional storage space in. Upon installing the drive, nothing shows up in disk management, or file explorer. The disk doesn't show up as uninitialized, it just doesn't show up at all. I'm also using a 120gb kingston m.2 ssd as my boot drive, so uh yeah any help is appreciated.

So I recently needed to buy a new laptop because my other one broke, and after some time I found an RTX 3060 laptop for a great price, which is way better than my previous GTX 1650 laptop. I watched reviews on everything that the GPU offered and the CPU was better than my old laptop. After finally getting it and testing it out it seems to perform at the same level as my old one if not worse. On my old laptop Minecraft ran at about 200-300fps with certain settings, I put the same settings on the new one and it rans at 50-70fps which is quite astonishing. I then tested Assassin's Creed Odyssey at Ultra High and Very High and they were both 30fps, while online I saw the same 95W laptop GPU running Odyssey at over 60-70fps can someone please help me discover what is wrong. I play plugged in. I have set my Nvidia card to run globally. USERBENCHMARK: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/44776078

Hey guys, i bought my Acer Nitro 5 on July 2020, nothing has really been alright with it, there's always some issue with it, overheating, windows problem, HDD, etc. Well last Wednesday, my laptop accidentally fell from my bed on hard floor. Everything was frozen when that happened, so i did a hard shut down and restarted it and it was working fine, after some time I noticed sudden freezing but that was only for a few seconds. After some time, i noticed the fans weren't cooling properly so i decided to open the back cover and check whether everything was fine. When I was struggling to open the back panel, one of the screws inside fell on the motherboard right above the GPU on the motherboard and I saw a few sparks as the battery was still connected. I didn't really think that can cause much damage to the laptop. But unfortunately it did. My computer wouldn't turn on after that no more. So I took it to my local Acer Authorised Service place. They told me that somehow my HDD had been corrupted even tho it was working fine initially after the incident. Anyways i told them to fit a 500gb ssd. Today they gave me a call and said that my computer was ready for pickup. I visited the store and it was working fine, but in the task manager, i couldn't see dedicated GPU listed under the performance tab, After some checking he said that the GPU was dead and that i would either have to buy a new motherboard or use my laptop without the GPU, the whole reason for me buying this laptop was gaming on the first place, why should I compromise on the main thing I bought the laptop for. Is there any other possible way my GPU can be revived. Plz help..

Almost 2 years ago i bought an Acer Nitro 5 (AN515-52) and been working 3D animation and some gaming on it ever since. Just 2 weeks ago, when i was playing Destiny 2, it suddenly just turns off. Not even a BSOD, it just dies. Ever since then, everytime i boot up Destiny, it does that after 5-10 minutes of gameplay. I tried touching the area above the keyboard (below the monitor) and it was extremely hot. So, i had figured that it must have been something with the cooling and i tried cleaning the fans. No luck. With my limited knowledge of tech stuff, i decided to buy and apply fresh thermal paste on the CPU and GPU. Still, the problem persists. What can i do to fix this? I'm currently studying abroad, and i couldn't find any service center in this city.

Im new to this forum, I dont know whether im right or wrong and im not a tech guy.. My laptop specification is; Acer Nitro 5 AN515-43 AMD Ryzen 5 3550H Processor (Vega 8 Graphics) Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Graphics 8GB RAM I bought this laptop on October 2020. Before playing games, I already configured the settings in Nvidia Control Panel and also in Windows Graphics Settings to use GTX 1650 in high performance. If I start to play Valorant(other games too), I'll get 100 fps but after sometimes it will drop to 20 fps and even lesser to 4 fps at CPU temp at 96 C; GPU temp at 70 C. I never ran any other programs while playing. I came to know that, in Task Manager it is showing "GPU 0: Nvidia GTX and GPU 1: AMD Radeon". Is there a way to change? Ive also tried changing the global settings in high-performance Nvidia processor and also changed in program settings to high performance. Is there a way to put my dedicated GPU to GPU 1? and how to get stable fps? Or is it okay to keep as it is? Is there a way, so i can play better... In YouTube videos benchmarks, i can see that their laptop temp just stays at 86C with stable fps... And also you can see that my laptop is only using 6GB RAM, where i got 8GB installed. Is there a way to make my laptop to use 8 GB of RAM? Thank you ...

So I usually clean my laptop fans and change thermal paste once every 8-9 months. So I decided to change thermal paste today. I opened my laptop's case and found a spare screw laying on my laptop's mother board but couldn't find any missing screw holes. My laptop have working fine since the last time I changed thermal paste. Should I be concerned about this screw? Laptop:(Acer Nitro 5 AN515-54) Sorry for bad English. Its not my first language

Hello, I recently upgraded my RAM in my Acer Nitro 5 NH.Q96ED.004 to HyperX 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 2666MHz CL15 SO-DIMM Impact. From what I could read this is the correct RAM for my computer, However, since upgrading, I have had regular blue screen of death on startup (BSOD). They seem to happen only after the computer has been powered off for a longer period (after charging overnight). I can't trigger the fault just by restarting the computer. Immediately after upgrading the BSOD's were not as frequent, and they have become worse over time. After a week or so of problems I tried swapping the slots, which got rid of the problems for around a week. But then they appeared again and are getting worse. I have also tried Windows own memory diagnostics tool, with no faults. Since I have little knowledge of how this topic, I want to know what can cause this issue. Compatibility with my computer? Faulty RAM? Software issue? These are the different faults I'm getting, some of them more than once: IRQL Not less or equal Kernel security check failure System thread exception not handeled System service exception Page fault in nonpaged area (what failed: WUDFRd.sys) I hope someone can help me with this, or at least lead me in the right direction. Thank you in advance!

Hi guys, my GF has this laptop Acer Nitro 5 an515-43. Its and AMD model with nVidia graphics chip. She asked me if i can make is faster. Everything takes few seconds, sometimes minutes to open. Im talking MS word for example taking 2 minutes to fully open. Games were running slow too. When i looked into task manager i saw Avast taking up most of the resources. The disk was always at 100% (thats not normal, right?). I uninstalled Avast Antivirus and removed some apps from running at the startup. This helped a little but not enough. So i tried installing PopOS (GF is ok with that. She mostly just plays Minecraft and does office stuff). Its better but i think the performance should be somewhere else. Minecraft is playable with 4chunks of render distance, Warthunder on Medium settings. I saw videos of people playing GTA V. I cant imagine her laptop running so well. The wait for the apps to open is the most annoying. Is there anything i can do to fix that??? She said i can do anything except opening it (says that would void the warranty). Thank you for reading.

I purchased an Acer Nitro 5 (2018 GTX 1050) as my first laptop a little over a year ago and it has been great. Though, while under heavy load, it gets quite hot, as the cooling setup is not the best, but I have tolerated it for a while, not experiencing too many slow downs in games. Recently, I have started running a Folding@Home Client on it and have noticed it gets up to 97 Celsius. I have noticed that it gets pretty hot while gaming, but not often over 90 Celsius. At one point, I noticed in task manager it reporting a clock of around 1.7 GHz, which having a base clock of 2.3 GHz seems kind of concerning. So I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a laptop cooling solution. It doesn't have to be portable, as although I use this laptop for school, I rarely play games on it there as the battery sucks and the performance drops significantly. I have seen a lot of suggestions to reapply thermal paste, which is a solid idea, though I do not really have the experience to do so at the moment or someone who could help, as of the whole quarantine thing. I do plan on looking into it in the future, as I will probably be using this laptop for the next year or 2. I also saw that cleaning the dust will help, which I somehow never thought of and will do. But, I know that the cooling setup on this laptop is not great, so I figured I would invest in something extra. Any suggestions on a cooling pad or some other solution? Thanks.

I have a Acer Nitro 5 with HDMI 2.0 port. Right now, it's connected to my Dell 27" via HDMI. So right now, it's at 60Hz. The monitor has DP 1.2 input. So could I get an HDMI to DP adapter and get 144hz from my monitor?

I am planning to buy a budget gaming laptop which can run triple A games at 60+ fps with 1080p resolution and also for programming. After some research, I found Acer Nitro 5 AN515-52 better for my budget (₹77,000 ~ $1100). There are laptops from ASUS, MSI, Dell and HP with similar specs but they are over my budget. Also, I haven't found much reviews on this laptop so I appreciate any suggestions on this laptop.

Hello, This will be a bit of a long post as I have been documenting this for quite awhile as to get as much info as I could before reporting to a forum(s). All help is appreciated but please read the full post first. INTRO: I bought my Nitro 5 back in early may 2019 from Acers Ebay site as a "CERTIFIED REFURBISHED". I had use for a cheap and relatively thin and light-ish daily-driver (work/light gaming on the go) laptop at the time i picked it up for like 500-ish bucks off their site on ebay. I usually play games like Elite Dangerous, Overwatch or Minecraft :), on this machine. Strangely the crash is 90% replicatable with Overwatch but NEVER happens with Minecraft or DeSmuMe or Baba is You, Ect no matter how long or hard I play. More on that below. I own a NITRO 5 AN515-53 I5 8300h/1050TI/256gb M.2/8gb ram Win 10 1809 - Updating as I write this to 1903 The only "mods" I have done are as follows: 1tb WD hhd add-on (need the extra space 256 gb on a m.2 wasn't cutting it) 16gb of balistix laptop memory @2666 picked it up at my local tech shop on sale so why not. I have a total of 24gb in this unit 8gb from Acer, 16 is the aforementioned ram. I have tried using one or the other stick of ram solo and still get the crash. (closest thing I could find quickly online) And seeing people online saying the laptop does get a little warm I went and reapplied some kryonaught thermal paste I had just around to see if that would keep thermals more manageable without undervolting. Lastly i did a panel swap for a more color accurate 1080p 120hz panel. I put a link to the EXACT tutorial i followed for the panel. Its even the same panel he recommended and demonstrated that it works. (linked below) (it also retains stock factory brightness controls) Panel Tutorial All the pins on the panel are intact and the connection on the ribbon cable is secure with the tape from the stock panel. So yes, technically its modded but its all just "bolt on" or thermal paste. I didn't do anything crazy like messing with the motherboard, just some quick quality of life improvements. PROBLEM: Ok now i've gotten that out of the way. Its time to get down to it. I have tried everything most of you are about to comment...not to say your help or opinion i'snt welcome (i'm here for help in the first place) just please read the full post first before telling me to redo drivers or something simple like that. So as i mentioned above - "I usually play games like Elite Dangerous, Overwatch or Minecraft :), on this machine. Strangely the crash is 90% replicatable with Overwatch but NEVER happens with Minecraft no matter how long or hard I play." Programs such as Chrome,Steam, Notepad++, Discord, Minecraft (Java/OpenGL), DEmuME (OpenGL Nintendo DS Emulation) dont give me issues nor does video/audio playback from VLC. - My method to getting the getting the crash to occur is as follows: 1. log into windows normally. (while checking i'm on wall power) 2. Open battlenet/overwatch/task manager (boot the game) 3. go into practice range, walk to busy area with lots on screen to simulate the stress of a quick/arcade match 4. stand still for 3-5 mins (you can walk around a bit i don't think it actually matters, it may crash sometimes while doing so) 5. alt+f4, Esc "quit to desktop", Esc "quit to main menu" **SIDE NOTE** (I make sure to have task manager open and have Overwatch's advanced FPS/GPU temp open as a rough estimate of how hot i'm running. Usually no hotter than 70-73 at worst. Also just booting games like BF1,The Crew 2, Arma 3 (Sometimes), TW Shogun 2, Ect will possibly cause the error, sometimes you can get in a game for a bit but it has a good chance of just crapping out at any second or on game close. Overwatch is the one game I can get it to do it consistently.) Then at this point you get to desktop for a split second if your lucky and the GPU will spike for half a second as it closes the app then it calms down and bam screen goes black you will get audio feedback at this point if you were playing music (as i often do while gaming). The laptop itself seems to recover sometimes but the screen does not also the screen will flicker random pixels on and off. Any side display you have open will just be black as well or will just freeze as it was. Only way to recover fully is to powercycle. Lastly just want to make clear that I have spent better part of an hour typing this on the laptop in question with no issue so long as I dont dare touch a DX program. THINGS I HAVE TRIED: 1. Seeing as it caused my screen to "die" I thought drivers instantly. I uninstalled Nvidias drivers and reverted to a stable build 390. that comes with the laptop. Still crashed. So I updated the drivers to the newest available 430.39 at the time. Still no fix. I wiped both the Intel and Nvidia driver and went to device manager and let it download what it thought was best automatically. Still no fix. I did a full DDU and reinstalled 430.39 and set the gpu 3d settings to pick the 1050ti for Overwatch. No fix. **Currently on 419.72 as I will explain why down below** 2. Updating windows I checked for updates when the error started to occur and windows had it usual small definitions updates but nothing major. I have been on 1809 this whole time since I got the laptop pretty much. 3. Antivirus I have done the free trial of malwarebytes and nothing to report there clean slate. 4. Direct X DXDIAG check Tried doing a Direct X self check since it only seems to happen with direct X based applications. DXDIAG.exe had nothing unusual to report. 5. Verifying game files I know this might seem dumb but i couldn't rule it out, still no change to report. 6. Using diffrent ram set-ups Ok so, seeing as i have 2 sticks of ram in this laptop, the Acer OEM 8gb 2666 and the Balistix sport LT 16gb 2666 i decided to do some ram swapping in various configs. Maybe its my too different sticks causing some weird issues? After messing around with it on all tests it still would reproduce the crash on multiple DX based games. Nothing much really to report there. 7. Harddrive removal Well I figure i'm this far so i should at least give it a shot. So I transfer a few test games to the 256gb ssd and boot them up after removing the 1tb disk drive. Crash as usual. Currently have the drive back in. 8. Checking the Panel So as mentioned i do have a 120hz panel in here. I first though it was the pin connection to the panel and something could be loose but apon inspection and re-installation it seems to be fine and functions nominally as I type this. Windows picks it up and Nvidia does too as 120 hz 1920x1080. 9. Doing a fresh install of games that are causing the issues Yeah nope. Still crashes. 10. Event viewer and reliability monitor Ok, i see why other people use these to detect issues, but for some reason the only issue this laptop detects is windows was shut down improperly: IE me powercycling after it "crashes". 11. Doing a fresh windows install. Last night I did a fresh windows install as the last stand before doing my write up and getting community input. The laptop has run fine over the night and this morning, ive reinstalled mostly everything. I went into device manager and updated the 1050ti based on whatever windows felt is best which as i mentioned above is 419.72. Just watching some YouTube and playing minecraft while having a good breakfast and coffee :D, had elite dangerous's launcher open, 1 chome tab, steam (with a dl in progress) and minecraft. This time screen doesn't go black windows just freezes. I get the audio feed back loop from the YouTube audio and that's that. Its just stops. *powercycle* And here we are writing this because honestly about 2 -5 days from moving and i'm selling my desktop, so id like this laptop to be a nice tie-over until thing settle down and I can buy/build a new desktop. All these crashes happened without a single error reported or blue screen so its been hard to track down and trace. I'm personally thinking i bought a dead gpu laptop "refurbished" from acer. Id love to get feedback/comments/questions/answers. My main goal is to A) get my baby fixed and B) give light onto an issue that some of you might be having and a place where we can try and figure out not just for me but for other people googling this right now wondering if they have to go to geek squad and spend that last paycheck. Thanks for your time, and sorry about the long post its just been a side project of mine since may to figure it out so I wanted to be through before asking people to dedicate time to this. Cheers Entrias. *writing this on the broken laptop in question XD*

Guys I need to upgrade my acer nitro 5. I want to add a ssd to it. I ordered a m.2 sata ssd. I did more research and found out that my laptop have a m.2 NVMe slot. Will that be a problem? Should I cancel my order and buy an m.2 NVMe ssd instead?

Guys I bought a m.2 NVMe 256 gig ssd. I just installed it in my acer nitro 5. But the drive is not detected under computer management>Disk management. Will it be because of crapy ssd? I guess I have installed it correctly but I was unable to tighten the screw holding the ssd tight cause I dont had proper tools. Sill I have placed it securely and ssd is not in some unstable position and is not shaking when pressure is applied over it. Is it a software issue or hardware issue or my crappy installation?

I'm getting an Acer Nitro 5 in about a week, and I was wondering how hard it is to access the drive bay so I can slip in a new hard drive, as there is only a 256 ssd in my model. From the pictures it looks pretty easy, so would a person with just basic skills be able to put it in? And could you give me a recommendation for the type that is compatible with laptops? Sorry, I'm new to this area. And I don't need to add another SSD.
