Hey guys! I'm having issues with my Astro A50s. The audio cut out earlier today, and nothing I do seems to work. I've reinstalled drivers, restarted my computer, re-paired the headphones to the mixamp a dozen times, nothing. The mixamp is plugged in and powered on, I'm only using USB and no optical audio, the headphones and mixamp pair, the headphones are recognized by my computer, and my computer even registers that audio is playing when looking at the Sound menu. On top of all that, when using the ear cup mixer, audio beeps from the headphones themselves sound off just fine. I can not, for the life of me, figure this out.

Watch my FULL REVIEW of the Astro A50 Headset below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsKund1kcig Let me begin by saying that I have been using this headset every day for the past two years. It is easily the most comfortable headset I have ever owned. The sound quality is amazing and super clear. Each ear cup contains a sizable piece of very comfortable moderately thick foam that feels like memory foam, doesn’t allow for much sound leakage and does a fairly good job in the noise isolation category. Now lets talk about the features and what you get when you buy it. Plaese note that Astro has made some pretty serious upgrades to the A50’s hardware and software since this release so yours may be different. You can check the link in the description below to get info on the latest upgrades. The box itself was excellent, very sturdy and well made. Inside the box I got: 1 Base Station that includes an SPDIF…”SPDIF” optical in and out slot, a USB A slot that charges the headset and a USB Micro slot that serves to power the device. 1 SPDIF Audio cable 1 USB A to Mini Cable that is 3 feet long. This plugs into the base station and charges the headset. I found this to be a little short for my liking so I went to Staples and bought a 10 ft cord for like 5 bucks. 1 Stand 1 USB A to Micro cable that plugs into the back of your computer and powers the base station. 1 XBox chat cable. Now lets break away from that and talk features: As I said each ear piece is encased in a sizable piece of very comfortable moderately thick foam that feels like memory foam, doesn’t allow for much sound leakage and does a fairly good job in the noise isolation category. The headset supports Dolby Digital 7.1 Surround Sound and I’ll tell you…... IT’S GORGEOUS!. The clarity is so good that I can usually pinpoint where another gamer or enemy is and react long before they can get a clean shot. Superb job there, Astro. The headset itself is fairly large and made of plastic. It sports two metal ‘hinges’ that support the ear pieces and allow for adjustment. There are on ear buttons that allow me to separate game and voice chat and 3 EQ modes. The headset has a good weight to it but it’s not heavy enough to be distracting. The flexible plastic piece with foam attached makes the fit sturdy but comfortable. As a matter of fact, I sometimes forget they are on my head. The Microphone is an adjustable boom mic that produces a good quality reproduction of your voice and that locks into place and mutes when it’s flipped into an upward position. Now lets talk about the most important thing to consider when purchasing any Wireless headset: Battery life and wireless range. In the case of the A50, both are exceptional. As far as the wireless goes, I consistently get up from my chair and walk across my very large house before I notice any distortion. That’s a distance of maybe 1500 feet. The battery is good, lasting between 8-10 hours on a single charge. An audible beep is heard every 5 minutes or so when the battery has about 30 minutes of life left. From there, I plug it in using the included USB cable and am able to charge the headset and continue gaming without interruption. Before I end this I want to talk about RMAing with Astro. About a year ago the USB port on the back of the transmitter came loose. I filed a claim with Astro online, sent them the broken one and within a week, I had a new one in my hands. No questions asked. Sources: I did not use any sources for my review since it is now an older headset but I did post a link to the updated version of the headset. I have reposted that below. http://www.astrogaming.com/headsets/A...

Hey guys does anyone know how to remove the SIMLOCK from a Siemens A50? The phone is 17 years old now and Siemens does not even produce phones anymore so I don't know how to solve this. I contacted the Provider and they just said Siemens only can do this, but I am sure someone here knows the solution. I have the IMEI of it. Thanks in advance

Hey I've looked but found nothing relevant, Lately I've noticed the sound quality on my A50 is lacking. Like all the sounds are fine but I can't hear any vocals. I've started playing Rainbow 6 Siege on PC and realised I can't hear Voice in the briefing of the 'situations' and what not, even with music there's barely any vocals. Anyone have/had the same issue that can help me please?

FIRST AND FOREMOST! EVERYONE NEEDS TO INSTALL ASTRO COMMAND CENTER , PLUG IN THE MIXAMP PRO TR (WHITE XBOX ONE VERSION) INTO YOUR PC, AND UPDATE IT! I CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH! Streamers and YouTubers!!! Do Step 3 under “Software Setup” before continuing. It will stop you from having to disconnecting the Mixamp Pro TR from your Xbox later. INTRODUCTION: Are you sick and tired of having a wire going from your Astro A50′s to your Xbox One controller in order to communicate with your teammates in game and party chat? Me too! This hardware work around will have your Astro A50′s be able to speak to player in game chat and parties, as well as hear them. First of all, here’s a bit of background on why this awesome audio rig was created. The normal Astro A50′s, specifically the wireless transmitter (Tx) can not, for many reasons, transmit game sound or chat through USB to the Xbox One. Some headsets can do this, but I know that no one wants to replace their A50′s that they spent hard earned money on. Additionally, the headsets that do transmit chat over USB are either wired, or can only work with the Xbox One. This setup does require some additional hardware, although adding true wireless capabilities to your A50′s is not the only feature gained by this setup. You can also capture in-game chat and party chat, which is great for streamers like me. Now let’s get on to the specifics. THINGS YOU WILL NEED: 1. A PC/Laptop with analog audio connectors (Pictured in the diagram, right below the PC USB image). 2. Astro A50′s with Mixamp Wireless Transmitter (Tx) 3. Astro Mixamp Pro Tr (This is the additional hardware you likely don’t have. Go HERE for official Astro product page). MUST BE THE WHITE ONE! IT IS THE VERSION COMPATIBLE WITH XBOX ONE! This is what will transmit the chat through USB to the Xbox One! 4. Xbox One Console 5. Wires, look at the diagram below and make sure you have the wires stated in the top right to make the necessary connections. USB that comes with Mixamp Pro TR. Three 3.5mm (CTIA, TRRS) Cables. Make sure they are CTIA, TRRS (Tip, ring, ring, sleeve) This is the headphone jack standard that Astro uses on their products. Optical Cable USB that comes with A50′s Mixamp wireless transmitter (Tx) PC Headset Y-Adapter (Comes with the Mixamp Pro TR) CONNECTING CABLES, AND WHY WE ARE CONNECTING THEM A CERTAIN WAY: 1. Connect the USB from the Mixamp Pro TR to the Xbox One. This enables a sound source (Headset, micrphone, etc.) that is plugged into the Mixamp Pro TR to communicate with the Xbox One via USB connection. 2. Next, plug in the A50′s Wireless transmitter into your computer via the USB “Pwr”. This will provide you sound from your PC as well as allow you to use the microphone on your A50 headset on the PC (which we need). 3. Plug in the PC Headset Y-Adapter into the port on the Mixamp Pro TR labeled with the “Headset” image. This will allow use to plug in an audio source for voice chat (Pink side) which players in-game and in parities will hear, as well as a line-out (Green side) that we can plug into wherever we want to hear the other players talking. (More on that next) 4. This is where we need one of the 3.5 cables we talked about earlier. Take the 3.5 cable, plug one end into the PINK end of the splitter, then plug the other side of that same 3.5 cable into the GREENanalog audio port in your PC or Laptop (Location of analog audio ports may vary depending on your computer). 5. This step is similar to the last one but the colors are swapped. Take the second 3.5 cable, plug one end into the GREEN end of the splitter, then plug the other side if that same 3.5 cable into wherever you want the players in-game or in party chat to be heard. If you plan on capturing peoples voices in-game or in party chat for YouTube or streaming to Twitch, plug it into the PINK analog audio port in your PC. If you are only concerned with being able to hear other people just plug it into the AUX port on the A50′s Wireless Transmitter (Tx). If you chose to just hear people and not record anything, you can skip to the “Software Setup” portion of the instructions. 6. For those of you who want to be able to record the other players in-game and in party chat, you have already plugged in the necessary cables for your streaming software to hear other people, but you cannot hear them yet. This is where the third 3.5 cable comes in. Plug one end of the 3.5 cable into the “Stream” port on the Mixamp Pro TR, then plug the other end of that same 3.5 cable into theAUX port on the A50′s Wireless Transmitter (Tx). A bit more setup is required to only hear the players chatting, I will cover that in the next section. SOFTWARE SETUP: Next we will configure Windows Playback devices and the Mixamp Pro TR in order to get everything running how we want it to. These next steps all take place on the Windows operation system. 1. In the system tray located on the bottom right of Windows on the toolbar, right click the “Speaker” image and click on “Recording Devices”. There you will see a list of devices able to be used as audio inputs. Locate the recording source for “ASTRO Wireless Transmitter”, right click it, then click “Properties”. Once the properties window is open click on the “Listen” tab. From here, check the “Listen to this device” box and then below that, click the drop down labeled “Playback through this device”. This is where we want that recording audio source (which is your voice though the headset) to come out. Select the playback device that corresponds the the GREEN analog audio port on your PC. Power management should be set to “Continue running when on battery power” by default, if not, make sure it is selected. Click “Apply”. For those of you that don’t care about recording and in-game voice or party chat your journey has ended. Just make sure that the Mixamp Pro TR is set to Xbox One mode which is indicated by the the Power button being red, and you are good to go! For the Let’s Players and Streamers out there, let’s keep this ball rolling! 2. At this point you need to go into whatever streaming software that you use (I use OBS Multiplatform) and add the audio source that has the other players chat in it, which is the PINK analog audio port. Adding audio sources can vary depending on software but should not be hard to find out. Ask me and I’ll do my best to find out for your specific software. So now we have everything setup to where you can talk to people completely wireless, without cables in your headset or controller. But wait, your stream can hear the other players but you can’t… Let’s fix that. 3. Open up the Astro Command Center software that we downloaded and used before we did anything. Once the program is open, click on the “Stream Port” tab. This is where we will determine what you will hear from the Mixamp Pro TR. For instruction purposes all we need to have turned up is the “Chat Audio”. This will enable you to hear everyone in-game and in party chat since the “Stream” port on the Mixamp Pro TR is connected to the AUX port on your A50′s Wireless Transmitter. Play around with these setting if you like once you get a feel for things. You can do things like plug in a compatible smartphone and take calls through the AUX port on the Mixamp Pro TR or plug in other auxiliary devices you want to listen to like an mp3 player. CONGRATULATIONS! At this point you should have a nice little setup that allows your awesome Astro A50′s to connect to your Xbox One and communicate with everyone, WIRE FREE!!! If anyone wants to reach out to me for further questions I will put my social media information below. Thanks for sticking through the long read but I hope everyone finds it to be worth the effort. YouTube Twitter Twitch I almost forgot. Go vote at the Xbox Feedback page for native USB Microphone and Headset Support so that gamers don’t have to create crazy ideas like mine to be able to make our gear work like it should!

I have a few questions the first of which I've been searching for but can't seem to find. 1. Can the PS4 or PC version of the Astro A50s be connected to the Xbox One's chat? – I understand that you may need the chat adapter for the controller but I can't find if the headset has a jack for the cable to go to the controller. 2. Are the mix amps the same across the A50 Gen 2 range? 3. The PC version seems to come with a "USB TX (Dolby Transmitter)" aswell as the mix amp. What is this for as I assume the mix amp is the wireless transmitter. Notes: I have recently built myself a Gaming PC but still play some Xbox One with friends so I'm looking for a headset that can be used for both. I ask about the PS4 and PC headset because I like the blue/black design and it matches the rest of my gaming set up. If there are any other suggestions on headsets they are welcome but I have been leaning toward the a50s. Thanks in advance

Just today I got myself some a50s and they seem to randomly disconnect and reconnect moments after while using them on my PC. I have the a50 Gen 2 Xbox One version and its connected to both my PC and Xbox One. To the PC via USB and Xbox via optical. I'm not sure what exactly happens but so far I have only noticed it do this while listening to PC audio. (mind you I haven't used them a whole lot with the xbox yet) I have noticed it happen while streaming videos, like t.v shows etc. and while gaming, but I'm not sure if this is just a coincidence seeing as they are done in fairly long periods. (shows of up to 45mins or movies and gaming for up to a couple hours) any help is greatly appreciated. thanks

Hey all, So I recently acquired my Astro A50's but I ran into an issue. Or rather, I ran into a question which I can't seem to answer myself. I was always convinced that my 7.1 sound was working just fine. But turning on- and off the Dolby button did nothing, which made me wonder. So I started googling and found out that I'd need a sound card with DDL support to get the full 7.1 surround sound this headset could offer me. Seeing as my Mobo doesn't have an optical input of itself. Now, I already wanted to get myself a separate audio card anyway, and now I have an excuse to justify the purchase. The question, however, is: Which one should I get? I've been going around for a bit, and can only find reasonably outdated posts, so I turn to the helpful people of LTT and hope that you guys can shed some light on the options I have. The only requirement I have is that it's DDL compliant and is certified for 7.1. The rest? Not so much. I just want a good one to experience the full sound capabilities.

Yes I know seems kinda like a dumb thread.. Who would need help setting up their astro a50s? Well I do you see I bought these headphones about five months ago and had been running them through only having them plugged in through USB. I would get good sound like that, but I figured I spent 300 dollars on these headphones for the 7.1 surround sound so why not get a sound card to get that 7.1 sound? So I went out and bought this sound card: http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Blaster-Fatal1ty-Champion-SB1354/dp/B0060SXDRI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381663848&sr=8-1&keywords=creative+recon3d+fatal1ty I installed it and plugged my Astro a50 mix amp through optical cable to the sound card. I also have my stereo speakers plugged into the audio jack on the sound card. Than I started up the program for the sound card and tried setting it up to play the 5.1 surround to the headphones. Well I got no sound what so ever. I than went and made the sound card the default playback device still nothing. What am I doing wrong? I also made this quick video so you guys could see how I have it plugged in and everything hopefully somebody here can help me with this. :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ntl1RzlEec Thanks for looking at this thread please help.

Hey, Im not very good with audio and that kinda stuff, so i have a question for you. I want to buy a headset for my ps3 but i heard that it is better to just buy a pair of good headphones plus a mic than can be placed on the headphones. So lets say you have the astro a50 and a free choice of headphones and 'mod' mics. Can you blow the astro's (~300 dollar) away with a budget of ~180 dollar(us)? With a combo of headphones and mic? Thanks!
