Budget (including currency): preferred ~ 3.5k USD/ Max 4k USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Main focus of the build would be for 3d modelling/rendering with some animations with mid to high poly count. I would primarily be using DAZ 3D Studio and Blender to model and animate, (most of the work will be done in Blender, DAZ is just a part of my workflow), GIMP for making touchups on finished renders. I would be rendering through Blender with the AMD ProRender plugin. Using DAZ and Blender because I can't afford the costs associated with other programs as well as familiarity with them, (in addition to the assets available through DAZ are a bonus so I don't have to feel like I'm constantly reinventing the wheel or lacking in the inspiration department). I'd like to stick to AMD products as I'm not a big fan of Nvidia or Intel, plus I want to take advantage of smart access memory and use both the cpu and gpu for rendering with ProRender. Not sure how to bring the budget down any further as I already made some concessions I'm not exactly thrilled with, but any help in that department would be appreciated. Also any additional advice to questions I probably should have but lack the knowledge to ask would be more than welcome. I'm not trying to get into a debate as to why, since I made this post for assistance on my build, but I have my reasons as to why I won't purchase a Nvidia GPU. Will the motherboard be able to fit every component in together just fine? The thing I'm concerned about right now is the case. The Define C states it can support up to 168 mm tall CPU coolers and the Noctua NH D15 is 165 tall. Is the 3 mm clearance enough or should I look for a bigger case? Hey guys! Basically I've been looking for some hardware to upgrade my pc for 3D rendering (GPU based). It came to my attention that a 1080 Ti is better than the Titan X (P,p) in case of rendering performance. Is there any significant difference between different manufacturers? Because there are pretty high differences in price (for example): -11GB Asus 1080 Ti: ~770€ -11GB MSI 1080 Ti: ~820€ (source: "mindfactory", a german market for pc parts) Both of them have the same amount of cuda cores. So is it worth to invest an extra amount of 50€?

Hi everybody, i finally decided to upgrade my PC, i work in the 3D industry and over the last few months my PC has been struggling to render my 3D stuff in time to deliver to the client. Software i use almost all the time are; Blender, Maya, Houdini, Unity. Besides that, when i am not working i use my PC for gaming and VR. For this upgrade i want to use some components from my current PC to lower the cost a bit. I already had the processor and motherboard, the rest is part of the upgrade. Hey all! I'd love an opinion on something. For a few years now i've been mainly using a MacBook pro (currently i7 6 cores, 16GB ram, radeon 560x) and lately i've been considering adding a more powerful desktop to my rig and since I have no intention whatsoever on shelling out for an iMac pro/mac pro i've been seriously considering getting a windows/linux desktop system instead. The Aim for the system is mainly for work (coding/machine learning/unity and other computational intensive tasks) but probably also some gaming. As for monitors, for the time being i'll probably use my existing dual dell US27 1440p displays and i'm all set with peripherals. Budget (I adjusted for price differences): 2500$ US prices Lastly, i'll probably hold off any purchase till I see how everything unfolds with Zen3/RTX super etc... so you can take that under consideration Upgrade reason: There's a limit to what a laptop can do compared to a desktop. Main question: Is it possible to build a system that will answer the needs written above and also being an mini itx system which will be thermally stable (not throttling) and quiet? First, I would like to ask what I should use for faster rendering on Blender (static images, not animations), CPU or GPU? Also, what is the best option for that workload? Well to start things off I recently built a new system. I still have my old system but I took the graphics card out. I am planning on giving my old Computer to my dad because he does a lot of 3D Rendering and CAD work for his Construction Business and he is doing it with the Windows Surface 3. My old computer system Build was really just meant for gaming, but I don't see any real reason why It can't be used for 3D Rendering Projects and CAD work. My old Computer has a Intel i7 6700k Skylake 16GB Corsairs Vengeance Ram Asus TUF Z270 Mark 2 Motherboard. Hyper EVO 212 Air Cooler 120GB SSD Sandisk 2TB HDD Nzxt S340 Elite Case Was a GTX 1080 TI Gigabyte OC Gaming Black. So my main Question is Would it be fine to use either a GTX 1060 6gb Card or a RX 580 8GB Card? Or should I try and go for a Quadro Card? And if so, Which kind? Anything Helps Thanks.

I am looking at getting a refurbished dell server to use as a render machine for my blender projects. The two choices that I am looking at is a dell R710 and R720. A R710 can start around 300 to 400, a R720 starts at 500 to 600 depending where you look. Is there that big of a difference between the compute power that justifies the major difference in price? The max I am looking to spend would be around 500 to 750 for this project. Any opinions or ideas are welcome.

Greetings all I am a student of engineering in South Africa and with the recent lockdown in our country, it is nearly impossible to obtain access to the university's PC's. Thus my studies are being impacted as most other students already have access to high-end hardware, however I lack the funds to buy any of these high-end products. This is why I have turned to this forum, to help come up with a PC that is affordable, yet able to complete tasks such as 3D design and other taxing tasks. We use applications such as MATLAB for scientific simulation and AutoCAD and Solidworks for our 3D modeling and rendering. I have a standard 144Hz monitor and some fairly simple peripherals.
