DevilKing1994 posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
Hi guys i could really do with some help as i'v never built a PC or upgraded one before and my current one is something i bought from Cyberpower UK Budget: £1000 is what i hope to spend but can go to £2000 maximum Country: United Kingdom, England Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Metro 1-2-3, Stellaris (lots of mods), Hoi4 (Mods), GTA 5, The Outer Worlds and the new Resident Evil games etc. Other details Current PC Operating System Windows 10 Home 64-bit CPU Intel Core i5 9500 @ 3.00GHz Coffee Lake 14nm Technology RAM 16.0GB Dual-Channel Unknown @ 1064MHz (15-15-15-36) Motherboard ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. PRIME H310M-K R2.0 (LGA1151) Graphics DELL SE2219H (1920x1080@60Hz) 4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 (MSI) Storage 447GB SSD 1863GB HDD Powersupply: Cooler Master MWE 400W 80+ Power Supply Case: Cooler Master MasterBox MB511 Mid Tower High Air Flow Gaming Case Why are you upgrading? My games keep crashing don't think my current PC is up to the job of running them also hoping to do stuff across multiple screens (Gaming while watching youtube or a movie ect) I don't really understand how to find what is compatible with my current tech so i'm worried i might get something that won't work with everything else Edit: I'm also looking for a Long Ethernet Cable that doesn't break so easily i need to run it upstairs Thanks for any help DK1994 -
Sooo my friend asked me if i can build him a pc for around £1000 but because i wasn't really listening to any tech news lately idk what to chose, i think razen 1800x/1700x at this budget together with 1080/1070 would do but at this point i have no idea. He also needs a monitor and a mouse and the overall price CAN go above 1000, just not too much EDIT: don't count windows in, i already have it

Looking for a laptop at around £1000 to £1500 area. I do still have student discount available (thank you uni for not disabling my email) so if the company provides a student discount thats a big bonus. The upper limit is push-able by a few hundred but only if its the perfect laptop. The use is for gaming. I work abroad for long periods of time and want a gaming laptop for when I'm away. I'm away for around 8 months of the year so this laptop will become the main gaming machine so needs to be capable. May go to a external gpu while at home so ability to do that is beneficial but I spend more time away so it needs to be just as capable as a gaming PC. It will spend most of its time plugged into power so battery life isn't a major concern. Portability isn't a major concern either as it will go in a suitcase and then live its life on a desk for a few months before another trip in a suitcase. It needs to be airport friendly no massive batteries not that I've seen any laptops who break the limit yet. Requirements Thunderbolt 3. Large enough storage to support a good amount of games. Or ability to easily add extra storage. Many of the places I go have poor internet access so need to have a good back catalog with me. Battery cannot be drained when power supply is being used. Bonus points if it has Doesn't have a stupid gamer look. A decent track pad. Pain of owning a mac book with its god tier track pad. Keyboard doesn't get incredibly hot during gaming. I do like a number pad. (very low down on priorities) External GPU support. Ethernet port Stuff I dont care about High screen resolution/high refresh rate/Gsync/colour accuracy Weight (obviously there is a limit as airports limit to 20Kg a bag so i need to get my luggage and my tech into 40Kg) battery life webcam Touch screen Speakers Microphone RGB gamer aesthetics crap.

Hi all, My other half is a 3d Artist and is looking at a new laptop with a budget of £1000 GBP. Main use will be Video editing on the go and some Maya and 3D rendering. Secondary is gaming - the likes of Overwatch / Witcher / City Skylines / Skyrim. Would be great to have some help on this one as I'm more of a desktop guy myself!

Hi, i cant seem to find what i need, and am turning to the much more knowledgeable forum on this site (you) for help. I have £1000 (give or take) to spend on a laptop. After a previous bad experience with apple repair support im ditching them. I need something i can do small amounts of photo and video editing as well as work on Adobe Illustrator and programs like coral draw. I cant seem to decide whats right.. a surface pro 4 ..but the accessories put it out of my ideal budget, a razer blade stealth ..again just out of budget. obviously i have expensive taste and crave quality design but am happy with anything adequate to meet my needs and ideally be suitable for traveling. thanks in advance , regards , Matt.

Hi all, Wondering if anyone can help me, I am currently planning a £800 - £1000 3D rendering build for 3DS Max and Sketchup - using Vray. This will be primarily a rendering, CAD and Adobe suit pc though being VR-ready capability would be very useful. Perhaps I should go with a Ryzen instead of a coffee lake, I know ryzens are generally geared more towards multi-core but in my personal usage with ryzen, I have been left underwhelmed. Here is my initial build idea minus RAM, it needs to look quite decent as it will be displayed and not hidden away : https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/m9r8r6 all and any help would be appreciated! thanks!

1. Budget & Location ~£1000 UK 2. Aim Main purpose is 1080p gaming, but will also be used for running multiple VMs (low performance - for security testing). A small form factor portable PC best suites my needs currently, and I'd love this system to last me another 8 years at least (maybe too much to ask...). Gaming is Fallout 4, CS:GO, Project Cars, PUBG etc. with the possibility of some streaming. 3. Monitors 1x 1080p 60Hz monitor. 4. Peripherals I have a monitor, mouse, keyboard and 2.5" hdd lying about somewhere. Student license for Windows 10 Pro or I'll use Linux. 5. Why are you upgrading? 8yo Intel HD Laptop - light gaming at 10fps is not very enjoyable. First build! I'm a Computer Science student with a passion for tech who has survived on Intel HD for too long (previously GeForce3 Ti 200). Looking to build a console killer for casual gaming and handling the heavier workloads of my uni course, while using my trusty Thinkpad for programming and day to day things. Aiming for a Ryzen 5/GTX1070 build in a Fractal Node 202 and have put together a PC Part Picker list. https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/bMDfKZ I'm having issues picking a GPU as I want to maximize my performance within my (loose) budget and would be interested in overclocking but it seems like in this case the GPU fans face the case fans so I'd like a card with cooling that can handle this arrangement while having good performance. Alternatively I could run a large card (eg Palit SuperJet) with good cooling and no case fans. Is there actually much performance benefit to a larger card with higher clock speed over a lightweight looking card such as the Gigabyte Mini ITX series or is it all cooling and overclock speeds? Help needed!! I think I could do with advice on the CPU cooler and PSU as I've heard mixed opinions online. I think my motherboard is good as well but I'm open to other ideas. Cheers and happy new year everyone!!

Hey everybody! I live in the UK and currently have: AMD FX-8320 3.5 GHz 8-Core Processor Dark Rock Pro 3 67.8 CFM Fluid Dynamic Bearing CPU Cooler Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 ATX AM3+ Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-2400 Memory Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Video Card Corsair CX 750W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply Running one 1440p monitor and one 1080p monitor I'm looking to build another computer with the most cores for the buck with sufficient memory as I am a Design student and am currently being frustrated by long render times etc. Budget wise i'd like to spend a max of £1000 and cannibalizing the current build as least as possible, bar the Graphics card which i'd like to use in the new build, as I cannot justify purchasing a new one quite yet so perhaps using my old PSU and purchasing a smaller one to replace it. Many Thanks In Advance Matthew

Hey, so I need a laptop for sheer portability, which needs to look smart (so no colour changing keys etc) for between about £800-£1000. An equivalent priced laptop in dollars would be fine, but sometimes tech is cheaper in states than the UK . It will have moderately high usage, but no gaming, yet the ability to edit photos will be needed. Ports wise I use none, apart from exporting video via use-c, so even the infamous 12" Mac would be fine on that one (as wireless mouse etc) portability is key. Any suggestions? Windows or Mac, I use both and find the OS's advantages and disadvantages weigh each other out so don't really care on that front. Any ideas would be great thanks!

I wish to know if there is anything better than the Dell 7559 4K. Currently I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro that can't do anything. I don't mind buying second hand so if it's over £1000 but I can get it for less second hand then that is fine. Selling my MBP for £500 and currently have no money (just bought an Xbox one) so around that price. Again something expensive retail price but around £500-£600 second hand. Thx in advance!

Hi, my name's Alfie I'm 13 and I am looking to build myself a new pc. This is my first time building and I really want to get this right so I am spending a lot of time double checking compatibility. This PC will be used for some gaming (battlefront, fallout 4, minecraft etc.) and I also would like to be able to do some video editing and photo editing. I would like to know if this build that I have configured is any good at all and if not, can you please recommend improvements to make it better. This build has got to last a while but I will probably be upgrading further down the line. It is also worth noting that I am limited for space in terms of where to actually place the pc so my case has a limit of 410mm in order to fit on my shelf (The shelf is on the right of the picture --> https://www.dropbox.com/s/o2v220g1f63fmat/20151205_190748.jpg?dl=0). I Also want this build to look nice as I kind of want to show it off. Any way that's enough of my rambling on... Here's the system; I'd love to know what you think! Okay, so I've been here a few times before, and I've refined my build further; here is my first PC build part list thus far: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (£199.98 @ Aria PC) CPU Cooler: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_BK 68.5 CFM CPU Cooler (£34.94 @ Scan.co.uk) Motherboard: MSI Z170A KRAIT GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (£122.64 @ More Computers) Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2133 Memory (£96.29 @ Dabs) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (£59.99 @ Aria PC) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£38.98 @ CCL Computers) Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R9 390 8GB Nitro Video Card (£259.00 @ Aria PC) Case: NZXT S340 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case (£49.99 @ Amazon UK) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA GS 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply (£70.00) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM (64-bit) Case Fan: Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition 67.8 CFM 140mm Fan (£14.48 @ Novatech) Case Fan: Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition 67.8 CFM 140mm Fan (£14.48 @ Novatech) Total: £960.77 I have a few questions: 1 - What kind of overclock should I be expecting with this cooler + CPU? (Yes, I know about the silicon lottery, but as a baseline) 2 - Do you recommend any particular overclocking guides? (maybe for this CPU specifically?) 3 - Will I need to purchase Thermal Paste? Or will it be pre-applied? All feedback, responses and opinions are appreciated and considered.

Hello everyone, I have now increase my budget to £1000 for my gaming rig. I want to have a monitor only one, mouse and keyboard, OS and the rig itself. So I want to play games high to ultra; Minecraft, ETS2, CS.GO, BF4 60fps. thanks,

Okay, so my friend is looking for a gaming laptop for around £1000. 17-18" 1920x1080 will do perfectly. The cheaper the better but still want it to pack a big punch. Aesthetics are essential for him (I'm guessing) So yeah, try make it pretty people! -Thank you for your help! Edit: Forgot to mention, couldn't find another recent thread similar to this but if there is one the link would be appreciated. And also that's 1000 gbp!

Hi again, My friend wants a gaming PC and he said he will build one. Could anyone give advice on parts please? He needs a PC (form factor doesn't matter i think), Keyboard (mechanical?), mouse, monitor. He has £1000 max to spend on everything all in. He will not be overclocking but I'm sure a silent build with an aftermarket cooler would be appreciated. He also says he may do streaming aside from gaming school-work and browsing so I was thinking a haswell xeon? The one which is an i7 without OC. Im located in scotland so is he and I think scan or amazon since they are great with returns or scan insurance. I have no idea about monitors but he will need one weather if thats 1080p or higher. An OS will not be required. A headset will not be required for the moment. He's upgrading because, well he's down in the dumps at the moment... with his xbox one . He does not care for asthetics so windowed or not, modular or not just whatever! Thanks
