Windows 10 stutters every 2 seconds or so. This was not an issue before I got on the pc 16/05/2019, but it had been running overnight. Windows Defender has been disabled for months, and it still was when the issues started occurring So far I have tried: >removing the security updates that came while the pc was running overnight >rolling back to a restore point on 12/05/2019 >rolling back graphics drivers Video example: System: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64bit Version 10.0.17134 Build 17134 Intel Core i7-8700k at 3.7GHz ASUS GeForce GTX 1080Ti ROG Strix Gaming 11GB ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-F Gaming HyperX Fury DDR4 2666Mhz 16GB Corsair RM850x 850W Bios version: American Megatrends Inc. 0430

Well, I've had some issues recently all of which culminated in a BIOS update and a fresh Windows install. Now, can't get Windows to update to the latest version (I'm still on version 1709), either through the auto update or Windows Update Assistant. Also I'm constantly getting Pfn_list_corrupt bsod now. Had memory management come up, but seem to have fixed that. So what does it mean, and where should I be looking for issues?

Hi all, Im looking for a new way to run osx on my pc I don't know weather it is best to build a new system and run Linux then virtually host osx on that machine like in This video or is there a better way to run it on windows. I have it hosted at the minute using virtual box but it's lagy and I can't get it to work on my ultra wide monitor. Thanks in advance for any help

Hey together, i've been fighting with freenas and 10gbe for a while now and sometimes it gives me hope while mostly it's depressing as hell. In my signature you can see the Boss-NAS i'm using. rn it's equipped with an Intel X540T2 10gbe network card. One port goes to the Netgear XS708E 10gbe Switch while the other one goes (for testing purposes) to another Intel X540T2 in my Test-PC that has an i5 2500K and some MX500 SSD or whatever and runs Windows 7. The other port of this PC also goes to the same switch as the FreeNAS goes. Theoretically i'd have two separate 10GBe connections now but in the real world it's nothing like that. Doing Iperf (as well as Crystal Disk Marks to the RAID0 SSD's or the NVMe SSD) it gives me ~3.5gbe on the read side and 8.5gbe on the write side. That isn't reflected in real work perfomance either but i think the issue here is probably the SSD in the test PC. Here's the iperf i did: first one is PC client p2p second PC client over switch third PC server p2p fourth PC server over switch As you can see it doesn't matter if it's connected p2p or through the switch, read's always s*ck while writes show there is enough bandwidth actually. I DID get a real 10gbe connection between the PC's once with a p2p SFP+ connection where i could see my RAID0 SSD's going to full 1gb/s in both reads and writes but now that i've "upgraded" to a full 10gbe RJ45 environment everything seems to be collabsing. I DID also enable MTU 9000 on both ends just not the switch as that apparently has that set automatically and i can't find it anywhere in the setup. Even worse is the fact that my other PC, a 2600K with X540T2 and Windows 10 doesn't even remotely reach that but stays at 3gbe in both directions, even just from PC to PC without the NAS (switch in between obviously) So please, does anyone ( @Windows7ge) have an idea why everything is to terrible? lol. EDIT: What i think i'll try next is connecting the freenas with my SFP+ Card to the single SFP+ Port on the Switch and from there go with RJ45 to the X540T2's on the Test PC, as SFP+ once upon a time gave me 10gbe.

I have just built my first new system. It was all exciting and fun but now ive hit a wall. When i try to install windows 10 off a usb which i created with the download tool on the windows website, the setup keeps crashing or freezing. It crashes right after the windows logo or other times just after the mobo logo after i choose to boot from the usb. Ive tried different usb sticks, tried booting both uefi mode and just usb but i still get that same problem. Bios loads up perfectly fine, all installed hardware shows up with no hiccups. If anyone has any ideas please help. Getting desperate..

The Windows 10 update from October 2018 no longer automatically backs up the system registry to the RegBack folder. This is a crucial, last defense step for many businesses and people. What I find even worse is Ghacks had spotted that "Registry backups would show “The operation completed successfully“, despite no backup file being created." Microsoft's explanation is they did it “to help reduce the overall disk footprint size of Windows”. And considering the backups are typically 50-100MB, they aren't saving a lot of space compared to the risk their users now face. Ultimately, there is a work around, but that involves editing the registry. SPECS: CPU: i5 2400 MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte ga-h61-ds2 RAM: 2x8gb ddr3 GPU: Gtx 970 SSD: Crucial mx300 275gb and a silicon power A55 256gb Recently i built a cheap computer out of parts i had lying around, I've had nothing but problems with it. When i had first booted it all seemed well everything shown up in the bios (No gpu, or drives at this time). then i put it in the case and properly built it and when i tried installing windows off a usb stick that i know works because i used it a day before on a computer. Although when i tried booting to the usb it stays on a black screen with ONLY a blue windows logo in the middle. Nothing happens from this point onwards. I then tried taking it out of the case and only put in what was necessary and took out one ram stick and tried again, it did the same thing. Although in between my tries it will boot loop 1-3 times before actually booting or just have a infinite cycle of boot loops OR not even power on what so ever. Until i disconnect all power for a while. The gpu which i know works also doesnt have display out from hdmi or dvi when plugged into the h61 syestem, so i just use the onboard vga. I then thought to download windows on the crucial drive on a known working system and windows booted and it worked fine on that computer, so i then took the drive and tried to boot from it on the h61 syestem and the only thing that comes up is preparing automatic repair and nothing happens from then onwards. I have also updated the bios, swapped ram sticks multiple times, cleared cmos and completely built and rebuilt the computer multiple times. Please help! i have no more ideas and i have no idea what to do! Thank you so much -Jack

So I just saved a Dell Precision T3500 from a trip to the dump. Owner thought it was broken but it was just missing RAM. I like giving computers a second life when possible. I've been trying to install Windows 10 but have had no luck. I was able to install Win7 with no problem. I have updated the bios to "A17", and have updated other drivers as well. I have tried to install Win10 via disc and usb, but still no luck. Anybody have any ideas?

Hi. I’m hoping someone could help me figure out how to get my laptop working. My laptop got stuck in a boot loop and then when I ran a hardware scan to see if it was a problem with the actual laptop it came back with no issues and now whenever I try to boot it it boots into the hardware scan and comes back with no issues again. If I hit continue after that it reboots into the hardware scan again. Dell support told me they could help me troubleshoot for $130 which is ridiculous. Can anyone help?

System: AMD Phenom II X4 810 AMD Sapphire R9 270X 4GB of Patriot DDR3 1600MHz RAM EVGA 400W PSU 512GB Micron SSD ASRock 760GM-HDV Motherboard (BIOS version 2.67) Problem: I am using a 16GB USB to try and install Windows 10 onto the SSD, but when I reach the screen that lets me choose where I want Windows 10 to be installed it gives me a message. "The selected disk is not of the GPT partition style." I heard the way to fix this issue is to boot into Legacy instead of UEFi. If only I could find that option within my motherboards BIOS, so any help would be really appreciated. BIOS: The photos of the BIOS are in the uploaded files. Hi there, Been struggling with my pc recently, was hoping someone would be able to help. I first noticed something was wrong when my hdd did not show up in the windows file manager(not my main drive), I have windows installed on another drive (ssd). I decided to ignore it and hope it might show up I then proceeded to open a few tabs on chrome and then a few minutes later the pc froze and then i lost display output and then got a BSOD (Stop code critical process died). since then it has struggled to restart sometimes taking a few tries, lights will come on but no output to monitor or peripherals, i then switch it off by holding the power button and try again. Every 3 or so tries it will manage to boot to windows only to freeze a few minutes later. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Specs: Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit CPU: Intel Core i7 4790 @ 3.60GHz: 43 °C Haswell 22nm Technology RAM: 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 666MHz (9-9-9-24) Motherboard: MSI ZH87-G43 GAMING (MS-7816) (SOCKET 0): 33 °C Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 : 39 °C Psu: Corsair gs800 Storage: 232GB Crucial CT250BX100SSD1 (SATA (SSD)): 33 °C 931GB Western Digital WDC WD10EZEX-60M2NA0 (SATA ) 32 °C

I will like to say they have icons but not on the taskbar and it's only happening to certain applications. I also have rebooted my PC twice since that usually fixes this. Example This only started happening today 3/7/2020.

Hi, I am trying to write a University Paper on operating systems and I am struggling to find what kernel windows10 uses/used upon release as every search result I get is about how windows 10 is getting a linux kernel. (Any references would be helpful).

So I already posted this to the Microsoft Community and to the /r/techsupport subreddit but both without any replies. So now I'm here hoping that I won't be ignored again. ? My Specs are as followed: Windows 10 pro 1909 i9-9900k Gigabyte Z390 AORUS PRO Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 2 x 8GB DDR4-3000 Intel 660p 2TB (Windows) Seagate Barracuda 2TB Let me first tell you how I got to that point. I was casually playing Minecraft with my brother when a weird error appeared in the console that had something to do with the world backup, I didn't pay to close attention to what it said. From that point on my whole PC locked up increasingly often. Until it crashed all together and I got a blue screen. UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION I waited for it to collect the required information and it restarted. Well it tried. After the main board logo with the loading animation showed trice just to afterwards crash I got the following error. B1InitializeLibrary failed 0xc00000bb This however wasn't a blue screen but instead the main board logo with the error text in the upper left corner. There didn't appear to happen anything afterwards, so I just it shut it down at that point. Upon starting it up again I was then greeted by a different blue screen message. This time it read: BAD SYSTEM CONFIG INFO I started with a memtest64 and chkdsk but both finished with no results. I then googled a bit for the error and found the following commands that were supposed to fix everything. bootrec /fixmbr bootrec /fixboot bootrec /scanos bootrec /rebuildbcd /fixmbr executed successfully but /fixboot returned "access denied". I still tried /scanos and /rebuildbcd but both of these commands found no Windows installation. I then found site that apparently had the solution for the /fixboot. After assigning a drive letter to the UEFI volume I executed the following commands: format N: /FS:FAT32 bcdboot C:\\windows /s N: /f UEFI bootrec /fixboot "access denied" So this didn't work. Before this it would show the windows loading screen (main board logo & windows loading symbol) where it would the show something along the lines of "starting repair process" at the beginning, that would after some time return to the "BAD SYSTEM CONFIG INFO" blue screen. It now doesn't even try that but instead go straight to the blue screen. After the automatic restart I now land on the recovery screen with the error code 0xc0000001. When choosing the recovery environment I again get send to the recovery screen, but now with the error code 0xc0000098 and the file \\BCD I have also played around with bcdedit commands but can't quite remember in what context I use it. Either way it didn't help. I read that by using the 1703 image the bootrec /fixboot command would work, which it did. But it didn't help with the bluescreen. I already check reinserted the RAM so that shouldn't be the problem. I also tried to access the drives via Linux Live Boot and everything seems to be still there so I don't think it's a drive failure. It is fair to say that I have now tried everything I could think of to bring my PC back to life. I'd be more than happy to try everything that has a chance of getting my PC back to working conditions. Any form of help is greatly appreciated! Many thanks in advance. EDIT What I should also add: If there is no way around it I'm also okay with a reinstallation. But I would very much like to not go through the hassle of setting everything up again.

I have a Windows 10 laptop and everytime I alt tab it opens a Firefox window, if you had a decent PC this wouldn't bother you that much but I have a weak CPU and GPU and it's really inconvenient while playing games. Showcase video: 2020-03-01 22-03-28.mp4

So in the future (Over this year) I have plans to build a computer. It will be my first that I build from scratch, with hopefully: Processor FX 8350 Motherboard MSI 970 gaming CPU Cooler Corsair Hydro H60 Graphic Card 4GB RX580 Memory 16GB (2x8gb) Vengeance Pro 2400 DDR3 Storage 1 1TB WD Blue (2012: 7200rpm I think) 2 250GB WD Blue SSD The only problem is while I was looking at the Microsoft website, laughing at them at how much windows 10 (In Either Form) costed initially, I then looked at how much it costed now (Just for in the future when the time comes to me making the computer). £219.99. You all can already see from the specs that I don't have an truck load of money to throw out on this, and considering that I could find most of the pieces together for about that price, I was wondering if there were any solutions you could think of for me. I am building the computer from scratch so it won't have any windows 7 product codes as well. I don't really mind if it is in Pro or Home just so long as it is 64 Bit. Thanks

Win 10 Pro 64x Came with Win 7, Win 10 then forced itself on it, had issues, reset back to 7(cnt remeber if it was a save or fresh install) Age- 6+ years( Purchased from alienware the last month before they were bought by dell) Not 100% on if I restarted fresh from a save or if I reinstalled win 7 fresh but Im pretty sure I didnt stay with Win10. Kinda quit using the PC for awhile so I dont fully remember. Intel R i7-2670QM @ 2.20GH Nvidia 580m Graphics Not sure about the MB but the Power Supply is 240w(big flat brick style that was recalled) Alienware M17xR3- Laptop Issues that seem to be causing the blue screen is, a Windows defender antivirus KB2267602 & a cumulative update for win 10 version 1809(KB4482887) that bring up 0x800706be In device manager under other devices it shows 2 with exclaimation marks- both show CODE 28 on location Microsoft ACPI compliant system & the other is PCI express root Complex. BSOD -Mainly power state driver failure, ocassionally kernal security & rarely shown a couple other 1s before going back to the driver state failure I followed every majority used trick to fix it, the wuauserv stops & starts with Ren C software distribution, all of that. SFC scan, troublershooter, Im sure Im leaving out a few methods. Nothing has worked but when I do the stops & starts of Wuauserv/net bits etc..it only gives me 1 blue screen. When i use troubleshoot it states something is waiting on a pending restart but I cant just restart the PC due to the BSOD. Its as if it starts the process all over again. This is exactly what happened last time when it all of a sudden it restarted once perfectly, fixed itself and the updates installed. Only thing I haven't done is delete contents of softwaredistribution, because there are 2 folders, 1 with.old & 1 without so Im not sure which to empty & I wasn't sure if I needed to be in safe mode to do so(following online repair sheets). Long story short- Never had an issue on Win 7 until Win 10 got through 1 day and I dont remember much after because I quit using it & gaming for awhile. Then when I started using it again I started getting blue screens & failure to updates. It only seemed to be tripped by unplugging(cord & battery) the PC for cleaning or when I repaired the failed CD drive. After so many issues with games due to what I call the Nvidia block out, overall slow performance & failure to update..one day blue screens started happening. I could barely get it to desktop & kept it in sleep mode to avoid shut down for almost 3 months. At this point I needed my PC back in top shape so I took it to a friend who tried to help fix it, did the wuauserv stop & start, and basically every trouble shoot option we could find on google with the error codes it showed. We finally gave up & did a fresh Windows install but it was of Win 10 Pro(because thats what he had, though I preferred 7). It worked and took a few restarts to get everything working properly but finally it would turn on & off without issue or blue screen. Then the failed updates started again. Almost 2 months went by with this problem but out of nowhere, after nothing special was done the updates slowly started reaching a higher level of progress until they finally worked perfectly. The PC continued to work perfectly on Win 10 Pro for a little over a year with only 1 issue. After Win10 was installed my battery slowly died even while plugged in & would no longer charge. Now its at 0% and wont charge but shows its good while testing. I had to move the PC because of a new desk & I unplugged it & while it was unplugged I took the battery out & cleaned the fans. Once I turned it back on I started getting blue screens. Power State Driver Failure mostly but occasionally a Security kernal & a couple others I only saw once. Now its mainly those 2 and the blue screens repeat or an hour or so before desktop, sometimes it can take alot longer or stops at 0% info gathered and does nothing for hours. THINGS TO MENTION- I have a new SSD I can install but would like to figure these repeat problems so it can be avoided when installing & updating. Also I was going to keep the OEM HD for extra space but now Im not sure if thats a good idea. Once it hits desktop, task manager shows disk at 100% for about 15 minutes though it only shows maybe 3 things using 1mb each. BSOD only happen when PC is completely powered off/ unplugged or battery removal. Once fixed if plugged in, zero issue Upon first installing Win 10 Pro, it showed I had intel graphics & an i5 CPU when I have Nvidia Graphics & an i7 CPU. Once installed, blue screen finally gone, all updates complete, I made a save/restore point but it no longer says I have 1 and the only one it shows is if I made 1 the previous day(so for 1+ month it shows I made a save the day before while trying to repair the BSOD) I know it alot but I tried to put as much info in as possible. Any suggestions on what to do would be extremely appreciated.

Hi guyz, I badly need help, this morning i experience BSOD. The error code mentions "Critical Process Died", I use this solution but failed: *boot in safe mode *start up repair *repair mode using bootable USB drive (win10) *system restore So now i install another windows OS in same drive but i ididn't format that drive. So is there any way to repair that windows.old file? so i can revert back to that previous build? All of my work and files are in that drive especially saved files in my games. Your help is very much appreciated. For the system restore solution: The system restore tells me that there are multiple restore points available, including one it created just before attempting to install the updates. However, it tells me that I can't restore my local C drive because "You must enable system protection on this drive". Is there a way that I can enable system protection on my drive through the command prompt? Please let me know if my explanation is confusing. Really problematic right now.
