Apple has identified logic board and SSD failures in some 2017 13" MacBook Pro models This issue is unrelated to previous select 2016 13" MBP which may have battery failures which were covered by a free repair program. Following their previous examples, these 2017 Macs are being serviced in and out of warranty for free. Unless you have pre-existing damage that must be repaired first, you should be serviced for free. Note that this repair, unlike the 2016 13" MacBook Pro repair program, you should not receive a keyboard replacement. So you unfortunately will not be able to kill two birds with one stone with this repair program. Apple is still yet to officially address the keyboard issues with the 2016/2017 MacBook Pros. Say if I were to buy all my parts through amazon or Newegg, if a computer part were to fail can I go to my country’s service Centre to get it fixed? Do I need an international warranty for it?

I have a new celloron processor which is in a system that I am selling in a week. Could I make more money by selling the warranty? Or is it illegal, won't work, etc?

EVGA has removed the guest RMA option, and has made it more complicated by having to contact support to check remaining warranty when buying a used card. With this new policy EVGA no longer has a much better approach to customer support than the rest of the AIB card brands. I didin't think there was enough of a source for this to be news, so just an FYI to anyone considering a used EVGA card. I can't blame them for not wanting to deal with all the used cards that were possibly in mining farms, though this only affects normal consumers that are purchasing used cards. https://forums.evga.com/Guest-RMA-is-not-working-on-the-US-Website-EVGA-Has-Removed-This-Feature-m2791341.aspx#2791427

Hello everyone! I hope this posts finds you in good spirits, but I am really frustrated right now with Gigabyte Technology. First things first, I ascended recently from a 550ti to an i7 6700k and a gtx 1080 (Big jump, I know, I got a deal on both). However, the Motherboard came from a system in a custom case, without an IO shield. At the time, I didnt really think I would need an IO shield, so I did not press the seller. 6 months down the road, I really regret it. My inwin 101 case arrives Wednesday (Tomorrow), and I do not have an IO shield to install. I called gigabyte, and they responded my email rma request by simply saying "Unfortunately, we do not have an I/O Shield for this product." My product is under warranty still, I request an RMA, and they deny it, stating we do not have it. What is the point of my Warranty if I can not even use it on the manufacturers end? My stickers are intact, my motherboard is 100% working, I am using it right now in an open air bench. Honestly, in my opinion, this is no way to run an RMA service!!!!

So I recently bought the AOC AG271QG and unfortunately it has a bright pixel along with a load of visible backlight bleed (even on low brightness settings). I've initiated the RMA procedure with the retailer (Scan) but I will have to bear the full cost of sending the item back to the retailer because technically one bright pixel and backlight bleed is not covered under manufacturer warranty so the item is not technically 'defective'. It is therefore classed as an unwanted product (here in UK we can return products for any reason within 14 days if bought online). I've checked Amazon and they have a very similar returns policy whereby they will not pay for the cost of returning an item unless it is a result of an Amazon error or deemed faulty under manufacturer's warranty. The issue I have now is that I've checked how much it's going to cost me to send such a high value, heavy, bulky item back to the retailer by courier - I'm looking at between £30-50 for such a service. Now obviously, I can't pay that amount for every single RMA I do as there's a high chance the second one I buy is going to have similar QC issues. So my question for you guys is whether any online UK retailer that sells this monitor bears the expense of unwanted product returns? I see that for some people 5+ (even occasionally double digit number) of RMA's are required to get an acceptable monitor. I feel as though I am willing to give this monitor one or two more shots but I am unwilling to pay the cost to return the item back to the retailer every time I need to do so. Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone I'm looking to buy a new HP laptop to replace my budget Toshiba. It looks like the Microsoft Store has some good prices compared to Bestbuy or similar. The problem is I'm not sure about the warranty. They're offering a "PerformanceGuard" protection plan which gives a 2 year extended warranty. Anyone have any experience with this? How does it compare to warranties from Dell and Apple?

I bought an MSI GS65 it has yet to arrive but I want to change the thermal paste for liquid metal and i was wondering is that would void my warranty? Also I heard that the GS65 is hard to get into is that true? Do you even think that changing the thermal paste for liquid metal is a good idea?

i will make this simple but one of the included sp120 fans in my crystal 460x rgb sometimes makes a rattling noise when i turn it on ans when it is spinning i shakes like it is off centre. i will look more in to the issue but if the fan is indeed off centre will i need to disassemble my fully functional entire rig just to send the case back to coarsair or can i just send the broken fan. things to note is that the problem may be caused by the fan being pluged into the aio pump header due to not enough headers on my mobo. i also purchased another sp120 could i possibly send that one fan back with the extra fan i gots warranty?

Hi guys, I was wondering about my galaxy S8, it has burnt oled display, highly visible marks + it has really terrible battery life ( I charge it 2x a day with quick charger soooo), but there is a small crack on the screen just in the corner, on the telephone they told me that it voids ANY warranty claims, what is your experience? should I fight with them or spend half of my salary on new screen ?

I wanted to share my experience of the warranty process through Western Digital. Since I started building PC's many years ago, I chose WD for their internal hard disk drives. I now have had two failed 1TB Black hard drives due to bad sectors, both purchased 3 years apart if you were thinking its a batch issue. When the first one failed I didn't even think to check the warranty which was definitely still valid. When the second one failed about a month ago I went on the website, registered my product, and realized I have 3 years left. The first step, I tried was testing it with their proprietary software Life Guard Diagnostic. I did both quick and extended and it showed "failed due to bad sectors". It asked if I wanted to try and repair I chose yes, but unfortunately it did not work. So I started a support ticket. I asked if there was anything else I could do to fix the drive and also why it kept happening to me. They never answered instead they asked for my serial number then told me to follow this link to RMA the drive. The link was broken and stated "no results found". Then they sent a proper link. Next I was trying to add my shipping address to my profile for the replacement hard drive. The support portion of their website is https://westerndigital.secure.force.com/ which is run from India. It would not allow my address to be entered. It would tell me my address in invalid. I live in South Florida. I could not continue the RMA process. I googled the issue and come to find the same problem has been around since January 2016. Many people not able to enter their address and continue the RMA process. So, back to the e-mail and asked them to enter it for me which they obliged. At this point I started to feel they would do whatever they could to not fill the warranty. After getting that squared away the RMA instructions were incredibly long. I had to print it and it was 3 pages worth. The shipping instructions were very particular stating two inch packing material, exact type of packing material to be used. Serial number written on 3 sides of the box in BOLD letters. RMA barcode to be taped to the top side. Which they gave you two labels to choose from (I still never understood which one was right). All the while the instructions telling me if anything was not right they would invalidate the RMA and nothing would be returned. Alas I received my new hard drive and they received my broken one. The one (very) positive outcome is they sent a 2TB back, although i'm not so sure its a Black, it doesn't say anywhere on the label, but it made the situation a lot better. After receiving the new hard drive I wanted to be proactive and register the hard drive right away. That's when I find out the new hard drive has 100 days left on the warranty. I felt it should at least be the 3 years left I had on the last one seeing that I sort of purchased a 5 year warranty with the drive. Back to the e-mail and it was fixed. Now I have to say this is the first warranty I have ever done, so maybe they are all like this, but it just seemed to me they were making the process so difficult to where I would not return the hard drive. I have been using Western Digital products for a very long time and its just a bummer their customer support was well, what it was. Sorry if it sounds like I am crying about it, but I waited a week to write this so I wasn't irritated anymore.

The story begins when I replaced my 5 year old Samsung laptop with a shiny new Dell. You know what they say 'Dude, you're getting a Dell!' but not this time. What I got was a laptop with a cashback offer that seemed almost too good to be true! A Dell Inspiron 5767 with a 17" screen. And what a screen! It was a FHD IPS panel that was wider than I was. The trouble started not too long after I took the laptop out of the box, though. After a couple of weeks, the screen started flickering wildly, and lines started appearing in the top left of the display. A quick off and on solved the problem, but little did I know, it was already too late. After just 2 months of light use, sitting on a table, the screen suffered a spontaneous catastrophic hardware failure. An ink blot the size of my palm appeared on the corner of my screen. I had to send it back. UK people will know this, but the biggest consumer electronics retailer, Currys PC World has an absolutely terrible reputation for it's customer service. To compete with Amazon, I guess they had to cut costs somewhere... Officially, they said that the laptop could be gone for a month for repairs, which considering how important it is, is a touch unreasonable. Nonetheless, I sent it back, and they actually saw to it pretty quickly. Unfortunately, they didn't see to it in the way I expected. They claimed that it was 'accidental damage' and required £130 to fix it (accidental damage isn't covered by the warranty). This is total BS, it's been 2 months and it spent the entire time on a table. Here's where the law gets involved. Currys PC World ought to automatically fix the product as it's so new and clearly a manufacturing defect by extension. This isn't just how I feel, it's actually enforceable by law. So I actually started a claim against Currys PC World for refusing to uphold their duty as a seller under UK law, and because I had to buy a new laptop in the meantime, I'm suing to be reimbursed for the cost of the replacement. Now Currys PC World wants to hire an 'expert' to determine whether this could have been accidental damage. Obviously, any 'expert' would be biased in Currys PC World's favour, but at this point, I can't find or afford an expert of my own to explain the logic of how a manufacturer defect works. Does anyone in the tech community have any evidence of computer displays becoming spontaneously faulty? Or of display manufacturer failure rates? Or even just some source which explains how a display can break? Hoping for a victory for the little guys here ?. Oh, and don't shop at Currys PC World ever. If Currys PC World have the best price, then go to John Lewis and notify them so that they can match it. They have far superior customer service as well.

Hello, So about a year ago I got myself a Razer Blackwidow chroma v2, I noticed since day one that sometimes 8 its led's don't light the color it is supposed to. I was thinking that it was just a software thing and waited, but to this day it still does it, I have tried using both synapse 2.0 and 3.0 (up to date version), using it on other computers, reinstalling driver and such, but it still happens. I have warranty on it, and it is in pretty much perfect condition, no scratches or anything. Do you think I could/should return it since it still bothers me?

Hi everybody, a simple question: will opening up a laptop (hp pavilion x360 14-ba000nl) to insert an additional storage device void the warranty? And is there any way they can find out if I did?

Six months ago, at the end of August I purchased myself a new MSI laptop. Fast forward two months, the laptop fails to boot when I press the power button. I ship product in for RMA, they are very friendly the first time when I contact them. After I shipped it to them, I get no details on their official RMA website about my product. I then repeatedly emailed their official RMA support email (usrma@msi.com), a total of seventeen times, to no avail. The first time they just said they will check on it. After weeks after no response, I repeatedly email them, but they just keep on ignoring me. Yesterday, after four months, I finally received some info back from MSI. They had rejected my laptop. It had spent four months inside their facilities, which meant that the warranty period was past already. I think they had purposefully taken so long to let the warranty expire. I made a post on PCMR subreddit about this issue, and it's gaining some publicity, having received over 500 upvotes in less than 12 hours. I figure the only way for MSI to give me a refund, or a replacement is if the public shames them enough that they will be forced to do so. If we are to stop companies like MSI doing shitty stuff like this we need to act together. I myself cannot make an impact on this situation, but together we can.

I recently got a pretty good deal on a used Gigabyte G1 gtx 1080 for $400 off Craigslist, but I'm a little uneasy about the warranty. Does anyone know how Gigabyte handles 2nd hand owners? I know EVGA honors the warranty based on when the card was purchased and not by who purchased it, but I'm not as familiar with Gigabyte. I like the price I got for it, but that possibility of something going wrong and being out $400 is pretty scary.

I saw a GTX 1070 XFX on offer up, the seller has a lot ratings so I'm sure it's real. I'm wondering if I will still have the warranty for it, it's sealed brand new. I'm not sure if I need the receipt if it ever breaks on me that's why I'm curious if you do need it. btw not sure if I posted this in the wrong place, just move if ye

I have an old 970 that is starting to act pretty odd, strange artifacting and such at times... I know that reapplying thermal paste would more than likely fix the issue.... but I bought a 3 year warranty on it. Turns out that I have about 6 months left on that sucker, so I'm thinking about cashing it in for a 1070 (plus a little extra)... My question is, has anyone used this company for a GPU in the past? How was the experience? Pitfalls? Update: I called the place, the guy was really nice and actually knew what I was talking about (Holy shit!)... Anyway, he said the claim would take a couple days to complete, but ultimately I would be sent a amazon gift card for what I paid for the GPU... I asked if I could buy a different model or if there were any restrictions, he said nope... I'll update this post as the process goes through.

Hi there everyone! I've been a long time follower of LTT and all it's various affiliated groups and channels. I've listened to the Wan show a bunch and figured here might be a good place to ask some questions about tech. I've been following the release of the Galaxy S10 more closely than just about any other piece of tech, and am eager to make the upgrade from my Galaxy S8, which unfortunately has seen some severe screen burn-in. I've narrowed down the different devices and have decided that the standard S10 has the best price and features for what I'm looking for. I'm planning on waiting for the price to drop a tad bit, and for my contract with my S8 to end in the beginning of May, 2019. I am currently with Verizon. I'm a sucker for the color green. I've always purchased black or silver phones because most of the other available color options don't really appeal to me, but this year I am in love with the prism green model, but wouldn't you know it, it's not getting released in the United States. I was sorely disappointed, until I noticed that the international version of the prism green phone is available on Amazon, and a good bit cheaper than the US version, no less. I've done some research on GSM, CDMA, and all the details of buying an unlocked international phone, and I can't seem to make heads or tails of whether or not this phone will actually work with Verizon. I've looked at forums where a lot of people say it will work, but might not work in certain areas. I've contacted Samsung twice. One representative said it would work, one said it wouldn't. Verizon said they would need to check the IMEI, but expects that it would work. I'm still not really sure who to believe. There is also the question of whether or not I would receive a warranty. I do tend to take good care of my phone, so I'm not super worried about it breaking, but I have had Samsung replace my AKG earbuds that are included twice already with my S8, because they tend not to hold up for more than a few months. I'd hate to see my new ones break and not be able to get them replaced/fixed. All in all, is it worth it to get the better deal on the international phone, and to get it in green? Or should I play it safe and get the black version from Verizon? Would appreciate any insight on this, or any opinions related to the idea in general. Much appreciated! For reference, this is the model I am looking at: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NZVRK97?pf_rd_p=c2945051-950f-485c-b4df-15aac5223b10&pf_rd_r=4R0B89GFSFGPGF07GZTR

Hello all! So I just made a new PC build that literally took me like 100 hour+ of research to be sure everything will be ok, but I missed only a thing. I bought 16x2 gb of 3200 mhz crucial ballistix but I did not know that it is recommended to buy ram as kit and I bought two separate sticks of 16 gb ram because it was a little cheaper and I did not know that it can be differences. PC is working fine, no problem, but I see a lot of people recommending getting ram as kit. So my question is if I should have bought them as a kit(or try to replace them now) or it is ok this way because in an event of a stick failure I can send only that stick for warranty and not the whole kit so I can still run my PC. I know that in an event like this I will have to then ask for a refund of that broken stick and buy a kit because the new one will not likely be the same but then I will have a new kit and a spare stick for this kind of events. And from what you guys know, how likely is that ram will fail, I mean if it's like the most likely component that usually fail. Thank you for you time!
