Hi everyone. So I figured I would post this here since I've seen so many aspects of my story involved in LTT videos at some point in the 5+ years I watch them that it might be an inspiration for someone for the various technological achievements. My backstory: So now to the actual challenge on hands: I decided that for the whole duration of January 2022, every single day (if not prevented by some very important occurence), I will play BOX VR for 60 minutes and stream it. I am already at 30% of that and so far I managed to stream every day, even though yesterday there was nobody in the chat and I didn't find out that my game sound was not picked up. There are several technical aspects I want to share: Audio+Video: I am using my trusty Sony IMX291-based ELP camera. I did a video about that one already, and you can grab yours on AliExpress. Thankfully, the excellent mic array on the Valve Index provides crystal clear audio for the stream, and of course I am using the sidechain trick that lowers my game volume everytime I speak so it can be loud for the rest of the time. HR monitoring: To better convey to my viewers how much physical activity I am exerting and to log the data for possible further analysis, I wanted to record my heart-rate. I have an older Fitbit Charge 2, but they pulled the plug on real-time HR monitoring, and optical sensors in wrist bands are a pretty bad solution for cardio workouts because you move a lot, shuffling the sensor around on your skin, making it ver inprecise. I did my research and bought a Polar H10+ (the large version of course, having a considerable chest diameter). I was looking for a software solution to get the HR to stream. I found Pulsoid but the free tier only gives you a very boring kind of visualization with almost no customization. So I began to poke around how the Polar actually communicated and turns out there is a specific Bluetooth GATT profile for HR monitoring. It is actually part of the Bluetooth Low Energy standard! How amazing. This allowed me to code my own tool called PolarGrabber that I have just put on GitHub for all to enjoy. Considering this is a standard, I assume it is not actually limited to Polar hardware and would work with every device that supports the HR GATT profile. There are two components to it. First is the main program, that will simply scan all BLE devices that support HR GATT, select the first one in the list (kind of assuming you don't have more of them) and initiate data retrieval. It will also open a simple web server on localhost:port (the URL is in the config file) and server javascript server-side events. Additionally, it also logs every HR point to a text file (csv, really). The second component is the file hr.htm. It is a simple webpage that connects to the local web server, receives the events with the individual HR values and uses amCharts to draw a nice plot in real-time. It also keeps track of peak HR and when the chart accumulates 10 minutes of data, it starts to delete the older measurements so it's not too crowded. You can of course edit the parameters in the htm, I put some comments there and it should be pretty transparent. In OBS, I create a Browser source, use this htm file and because I the CSS makes the background transparent, I don't have to chroma key, it just looks nice out of the box. Chat bot: To boost engagement, I have written myself a chat bot that provides stream overlay that not only renders chat, but also allows users to post GIFs, audio/video macros from my collection, YouTube videos and even Text-To-Speech engine that reads sentences out loud for those moments, when the boxing combos are too busy for me to be able to read the chat. The tech is very similar to the HR monitor - local webserver and a htm with javascript subscribing to server-side events used as OBS web browser source. I am not yet ready to release the bot, it is very much work in progress, but I will eventually, and it will be available on my github as well. It is basically just a shell that provides very stable connection to the chat and the rest of the functions is done as plugins that receive the messages and can process them in any way. There is a help available to showcase some of the features. In-VR HUD: Now problem with monitoring chat during regular gaming is easily solvable by a second monitor. I don't have the real estate on my desk to support 3 monitors, and 2 monitors setups are bad for me that it is either 1) one monitor on each side, neither perfectly centered or 2) one monitor centered, the other "aux". Since I have wall-mounted studio-grade speakers, I bought a 10" 1280x800 HDMI+USB touch screen from AliExpress, wired up the power to 12V pin in an unused 4pin connector from my PSU (through a fuse!, that's a must) and use that for "pancake games" streaming. What about VR, though? Fortunatelly, there is an excellent tool for that called OVR Toolkit. It allows you to place virtual windows in the 3D space of the VR world. For standing games, you can just place the windows around you and look at them - this is what I use for Box VR since you stand on the same spot the whole time. In games where you move inside the game world, obviously you would just walk away from these Windows. So OVR Toolkit can attach the window to your controller for example, so you can see the chat everytime you look at the underside of your wrist or something like that. A real lifesaver! So I simply have another html file that embeds the chat overlay and the hr overlay in different layout, and I have that opened in a small browser windows that I clone using OVR Toolkit. Home automation control: Constantly trying to boost engagement, my bot already started to award people with my own currency for chat activity. I was thinking about how the users could actually spend all that. And then I realized I have home automation running on OpenHAB and all my light switches have Shelly smart relays in them. I was wondering how hard would it be to allow people to control these things via the bot, like allowing them to switch lights or change color of my RGB bed. Turns out...SUPER easy using their REST API. Like 3 lines of C# code easy to call that. So now my viewers can control my home around me, while I work my ass off on camera I will check this thread from time to time to answer any technical questions. Have a good one guys

Coming from the perspective that I've been a Vive user for the past 2 years plus, I've always enjoyed it. Except for the wires. So if you look back into my post history, you'll see that I am at a gigantic turning point for my existence in the tech sphere. I am upgrading from a 1080/7700/16GB Alienware prebuild to a 3080FTW3, 5600X and 32GB of RAM. I figured that since I was making such a leap with my computer, I might as well make a leap in my VR headset as well. I'm really looking for a wireless experience with higher fidelity than the Vive offers. So the Quest 2 ticks the boxes. I just have questions about the performance. I play Assetto Corsa, AMS2, ACC, etc. And while my rig will be more than capable of pushing out the pixels at 60fps in pancake mode, I'm quite concerned about the VR aspect. I already struggle to get 50+fps in AC in the Vive on track by myself with a borrowed 3070 so what should I expect with my new system should I choose to purchase the Quest 2? I run Sol, CSP, etc on AC just to be perfectly clear. (Edit:) I also would love to know if the headset has the terrible god rays that the Vive's lenses have. Y'all were VERY helpful last time so I can't wait for a response

Summary Looking through the news today and saw this, this farm is testing out VR Headsets on Cows, at first i thought it was a joke but its true, at the moment according to the news its in the testing faze to see if it works, In the winter the cows produce less milk, so the farmer now is starting to use headsets for the cows so the cows think that its summer being in a virutal summer field, and according to the farmer because of vr, the cows have increased the amount of milk up to 27 liters from 22 liters, inside the virutal world the cows think there eating grass in a feild when there eating the hay outside there pen but they don't know because of the headset on them Quotes My thoughts Looking through the news today and found this for the first time ever, at first i thought it was a joke, but then they said it works and the cows produce more milk from using VR, what do you think of this, true, not true? Okay this is a lot sorry in advance. I bought a RX 6500 XT for my computer as an upgrade from my 8 year old 750 ti. Everything works pretty beautifully for me since having the last gpu. I wanted to try to VR on my computer but there's a problem which ended up with it not working. I just found out what caused it. My gpu doesn't have H.264 decoding. From what I herd and understood you need that to be able to VR with your computer. Now my CPU has H.264 decoding on it and I'm able to open an app that needed it for it to even open when I disabled my dGPU and enabled my iGPU aka my cpu. Now here comes my question, is there a way to have my computer to use both "gpu's" at the same time or be able to use the H.264 compatible GPU for using the App and my dGPU for running VR games? Sorry again. TL;DR - I got a gpu that can't be used with VR since it doesn't have H.264 decoding, can I use my CPU's integrated graphics and GPU at the same to VR since my CPU has H.264 decoding?

I'm currently sourcing parts for a PC build which I plan to use for VR. I'll be using an Oculus Quest 2 and connecting it through Virtual Desktop and AirLink. The only card I can find in my budget is the Radeon RX6600-XT. Will this be an alright choice for the Quest 2?

headset HI Guys's , I'm looking at getting a vr head set
dead man jack posted a topic in Peripherals
I've recently built a nice vr rig (12900k , 3080ti , 4th gen nvec ,nice mobo so it can all talk super fast to each other). My problem is im really not sure on what head set to go for . I've looked at the HP reverb 2 but it seems to have two revisions the latter having superior hardware(cameras mainly) obviously i don't wanna buy a revision 1 . I've also looked at the HP Reverb G2 Omnicept Edition , but that price range the primax seems like a better option . Pimax Vision 8K X , my understanding is they have a balls to the wall headset coming out late this year i can trade a pimax headset in for it's current rrp when buying the new head set through there store , once there new set is released i also considered the quest , but facebook/meta/skynet . Seems like the way to go is the primax but looking for feed back from vr users . i have a roughly 2.5*2.5M space i can play vr in . and i can attach the light house's with out too much issue. game will be shooter's , survival , adventure games (looking forward to bashing a troll to death in skyrim) , and normal desktop games if they work on virtual desktop (so i can lay back in bed and play games. and is the best contoller solution steams index's ? Thanks guy's -
I play on an Oculus Rift S and a Quest 2, and I've always had this problem, no matter what I do, no matter what headset, it won't stop. I've tried to do things in Oculus's debug tool, Steam's VR settings, and even the Nvidia control panel. Every solution I've heard or seen, I've tried, nothing works. It screens tears constantly and lags, all the while the FPS drops down considerably low. If anyone has anything I can try, it would be of great help. My PC specs are: RTX 2080 16BG Ram SSD 1TB Storage I7-8700k

Hey there, I am having an issue where my computer will freeze all of a sudden, and also freeze my HTC Vive Cosmos headset, when I am streaming VRChat. It appears that everything is going smoothly, then suddenly my headset stops moving and images are stuck. The same thing happens on my computer, where it's just stuck on an image that was being displayed before the freeze occurred. I believe it is something to do with me sitting down, except I've sat down in other worlds before, and it has not happened. I believe it is something to do with the specific world Midnight Rooftop, as it's happened twice as I sat down there whilst streaming. I have tried to restart the computer via the power button on the case, and the first time that this occurred, I was able to do so, but this time, I was not able to restart the PC using the power button, and had to restart the PC by turning the PSU on and off again. There is no BSOD here, nor are there any error codes. When going back into Windows, AMD's bug reporting tool did not pop up to indicate that there had been a driver issue. Thanks for any help! Hardware: Ryzen 5 3600 - 7000 bitrate, this should not exceed CPU util. Radeon Pro WX 8200 - 8GB of VRAM, 12GB as according to Task Manager due to HMB2 most likely. Midnight Rooftop takes around 10GB of VRAM. T-Create 4x8 GB 3200 Mhz RAM Crucial M.2 NVMe SSD - 1TB - Location of Windows and all other programs. WD HDD - 4TB - Location of VRC. 500W Corsair PSU - Forgot specific lineup. Software: Windows 10 Pro - 64 bit - Version 21H2 - OS build 19044.1503 - Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4170.0 Radeon Pro Software Version - 21.Q2.1 - Latest as of writing. SteamVR - Latest OBS - Latest LIV - Latest Vive Console - Latest Discord - Latest Error logs in regards to VRC from Event Viewer. Order from first to last (being final operations before computer power shut off) Some items have not been mentioned. These were simply things like this: Error 1 Error 2 Error 3 Error 4 Warning 1 Then turned off computer.

My specs are in my bio. My main question is: What should I do to make my PC run many tasks in the background without harming my VR performance? Like, do I need a different CPU? GPU? What components would fit this heavy multi-threaded usage more? I optimized a lot of the processes as much as I could. I have a lot of background programs like Streamlabs OBS with a Game Capture of VRChat, and a lot of filters for my microphone. Next, I always have at most about 5 Chrome tabs, running Youtube and an instance of Discord. In the background, I have apps like Gramarly, Wallpaper Engine (which is set to pause most of the time), Kaspersky Anti Virus (which doesn't seem to use any performance at all), NVidia Broadcast and a lot more apps that just sit idle and suck up system memory. I also have to mention that RAM isn't an issue.

Im looking at getting into VR so I can play Half-Life Alyx but i'm not sure what is the best value for my budget. I don't want to have too many compromised but I need to be able to fit in a budget of $600. Preferably also something without external sensors in order to keep my setup easier to move. But something that isn't a oculus quest. Budget (including currency): $600 USD Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Half-Life Alyx

I use an Oculus quest 2 to play PC VR games using Oculus Link. It works great! I have had basically no issues with it running on my PC. I think i will use it to play PC VR games for a long time. Eventually, however, I will want to upgrade. What headset do i choose? The Vive headsets don't seem to out preform the Quest 2 in any way. And even if they do, I don't know which specific model does so. I've heard the Vive pro does well, but it's extremely over priced. And the Valve Index is too far out of my price range ATM. I'm willing to save up for any of these headsets, but I just want to narrow down which one I should buy. Any advice would be helpful!

I need help with my Oculus Rift CV1 (Touch) and 2 sensors. The last 3 weeks i`ve been fighting with this problem but i found nothing that helped . . . So basically whenever i open my Oculus software and try to do something it wont let me do anything cause there is a ´Hardware Error` and my Oculus screen is just black. I tried to plug it in my Laptop but it doesnt work there either ( it only dupes the Desktop Screen ) and when I plug my headset into a USB 2.0 Port it tells me it's plugged into a USB 3.0 Port ( I use a Inateck USB 3.0 HUB ) It worked fine till i tried to plug my headset into the Inateck USB 3.0 HUB cause i had no USB port in my pc then it was kinda glitching and then it 'died'. I have tried several things : - Plug and Unplug USB port ( I tried several mixes between USB 2.0 and 3.0) - Last driver of my graphic card (GTX 1050 TI) - Last update of Windows 10 - Delete and Download the Rift program several time. - Reboot the PC - Unplug the cable in the helmet, inspect every cable - I plug the rift in my HDMI port of my graphic card and I try with a adaptor for my DVI port. - I activated the Oculus Public Test Channel - I also contacted the Support but i got nothing back since 2 weeks - Scream and Cry I really dont want to spend alot of money on something that will fix it since i dont have a lot and i spend all mine on the headset.

Hi everyone! I have literally no experience in building a PC but I'm starting to learn more about it and plan out a build. I would mainly be using it for video editing on Premiere Pro but I'd also like it to be strong enough for PCVR (Oculus Quest 2 connected via AirLink or Virtual Desktop). I've used a few different sites to look at recommended and professional specs and I've gathered together the first version of my parts list. I put everything through a compatibility checker and it says it should all work together. The main thing I need help with is just whether or not the parts are actually good for both video editing and VR. The photo I attached is a screenshot of the parts I've picked out so I'm looking for some confirmation that it's a solid build, and any advice for different parts. I put the specific info down below. Any help would be very appreciated, thanks!! Budget (including currency): $2000 CAD Country: Canada (Ontario) Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Video Editing mainly, w/ capacity for VR (Oculus Quest 2) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Currently plan to use 1 monitor and maybe get more in the future.

Hello everyone, I'm new to the whole VR scene and I first got into it this week as my friend lent me his Quest 2 and I hooked it to my PC via the link cable and I had the best week of my life. now I want to buy my own peice of VR headset and I'm wondering, should I get the Reverb G2 as it just got uopdated. or should I get the Vive Cosmos Elite since it has the base stations bundled and I can buy trackers later on for full body tracking. I'm extremely picky when it comes to tracking, and visual quality as well as upgradeability, I've even thought about buying the reverb g2 and getting the knuckles and base stations later on, which yes it will be expensive but it will be the best combonation of quality and tracking. I'd like to let you know that I'm an enthusiast which will lead to you asking me why don't I get the valve index, well, its current price point and unavailability in my country leads me to ditch it as a whole option, I even can get a Pimax with the Knuckle and base stations for the same Price. so I really would appreciate some help in this regard.

Budget (including currency): anything around or below 4k USD Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: high-end VR (playing the newest titles for the next 3+ years and developing for VR) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): 1. This is a new build. No idea of the monitors now, so any advice is appreciated. Something moderate is sufficient (preferably 144Hz, 1080p or above but no need 4k, decent color coverage for game dev, low response rate, budget for monitor around 500-800USD). Also, a reliable monitor with great build quality is very much preferred, since I might be moving/transporting this monitor around quite a bit. 2. I have next to no experience with building high-end build, so I would like to know if any of the parts don't fit in the case, or if the parts will bottleneck/is a bad fit. 3. Need a high-end GPU (3080) but no idea how to get one. Have to get this PC built in these few months, so unfortunately I can't really wait for the shortage to improve. Any suggestion is appreciated. so pretty much i like to animate and play Vr, so i downloaded blender and oculus link on my RTX 2060 and Everything worked great! Then about 3 months ago an issue arrised my oculus link would crash upon opening heres vid (https://youtu.be/7xyRfXlVB4E). and then i did some digging and figured out my GPU would spike to 100% then go back to normal and that would crash link. (in the vid when it does the freeze frame thing is when the GPU spikes). i dont know what is happening and would love really any input!

My friend has an Oculus Quest 2, and he is going to bring it over to my house because he doesn't have a PC, so he can play Phasmophobia in VR. The oculus page says that a gtx 1060 3b is not supported, but I saw a few reddit posts of people asking the same question and they said it works, just poorly. My other specs are fine for the quest 2, I have an i7 4790k and 16gb ram. The games we play are pretty much all free games (superhot vr, gorilla tag, gorn), though he may have bought some other ones as well. I'm thinking that if the default quest 2 specs can run it, mine can (probably) run it. What will happen if I try connecting the quest 2 to my PC? Will the software not let me use it? Or will it bug out the games/home? Also, I'm using windows 10, so maybe that mixed reality portal app can do something?

I have an absolutely aggravating issue with my computer I have not got any further on in months. I hope you can help. The computer is 4-5 years old, but the issue started this year. The computer reboots semi-randomly, mostly when playing vr-games. There is no BSOD, just black screen and reboot. This happens everywhere between 5-40 minutes of gameplay, sometimes immediately. Some games are worse than others, Phasmophobia is the worst and will always crash within 30-40mins, sometimes immediately and especially on "Maple Lodge Campsite" to the point of being almost completely reproduceable. Other vr-games like VRChat seem fine. It has crashed only once on a non-vr game(Deep Rock Galactic) in the same fashion. Since the Computer does not bluescreen, the crash does not create minidumps. It does not create dumps. There are no events in event viewer other than that the computer did not shut down correctly last time. I have run stress tests with Prime95, FurMark and Unigine Superposition. Individually and all together for an hour. The CPU ran a little hot (95C). Mind, this is under max load and on a stock cooler, which I plan on replacing in the near future. The computer did not crash at all. Ran Memtest on a stick, which gave some errors. Replaced the RAM, but this did not change anything. I would greatly appreciate any input on this and how to test for what could be the reason for this. Specs below: VR: VIVE Original with Index Knuckle Controllers CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 GPU: EVGA Nvidia 1080Ti RAM: Corsair Vengeance 32GB 3600Mhz Motherboard: B450 Tomahawk Max SSD: Samsung 970 EVO Plus PSU: Corsair CX750M BIOS: Latest version(as of 17.12.21) Windows: 21H2

I got this phone VR headset for 2 bucks at a thrift store and was wondering what I could do with it I have tried using tools like iVRy and vridge to get it to wok with steam vr with limited success (vridge only gives you 10 minutes and I couldn't get my xbox controller to work with iVRy, couldn't get steam vr to work with trinus) I also tried the google cardboard demo.

Hi Everyone, Wanting to get some advice for a router specifically for Oculus Air Link. I currently have a nighthawk X6S AC4000 router, but it's in the room next to my PC, and can't be moved. Latency and general stability of oculus air link is a bit rubbish. Was looking at maybe getting a dedicated router and use it as a Wi-Fi 6 AP. Unsure whether anyone's had experience of this setup, and/or can recommend a good router for it. Looking at the TP-LINK AX1500, seems to be one of the cheapest WiFi 6 capable ones. Thanks!

Hello all, I have a pretty powerful pc (so I thought) and figured I would give vr racing (with the valve index) a go. I have tried both assetto corsa and Dirt 2.0 in VR. I currently can only get about 72fps (often a 72fps lock with spikes up to 80 ish or down to 60 ish). I am only running medium or high on most settings and have consulted the Dirt community a bit already. Is it possible that this is more a hardware issue? I will list my parts below. Let me know what seems to be the issue or if there is something else I could try. Other VR games run like a charm, but for some reason, vr racing can really take a toll on my pc. Thanks! PC Specs (forgive me as I am not currently in front of my machine): Aorus z390 Pro Wifi (I think?? Someone may correct me, but it is for my chipset) Intel i7-9700k 32gb of G-skill Ram (3000 MHz I believe) NZXT Case and NZXT Kraken CPU cooler (a basic water cooling system that does the job. Note: dual fan with radiator) GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3090 GAMING OC 24G EVGA 1000w Power Supply (not sure which model it was) Storage listed below: 1tb M.2 (samsung) 1tb Sata Storage (samsung) 4tb Hard Drive If I am missing anything, let me know!
