I have had this problem lately with just one of our computers. I am currently in the process of backing it up and am trying to clean it up, but I have encountered a weird bug while viewing ANY video formatted file. This image is what I see: http://prntscr.com/dopaqa It is only there while the videos are paused and goes away after I resume them. I just want to know what is causing these issues. I am running a i5-4210U @1.70GHz with 6.00 GB of RAM and it's using the integrated graphics on the CPU chip. Is this a driver issue?

Hello I have recently built a PC and it is great and all but there are a few things that keep impeding my enjoyment of the services that I can access though it. Today I am reaching out for help because I don`t even know how to google this recurring problem. The best way to describe it is while I am watching YouTube the video plays but the video gets "boxy" like the digital bunny ears but a bit larger. Here is a video of what happens. I you could help stop this that would be much appreciated.

So heres the story. a long one I was running everything fine on Windows 7 with my gaming computer that i built. Until one day I can't boot in to windows anymore therefore getting a bsod. THe cause of it well was the ssd dying on me when i was using it only for Intel Rapid storage technology. Didn;t know what to do I took it to bestbuy's geeksquad to have them repair it for loads of $$$. Took em 2 days but all they did was save the data and formatted the main drive. Left the ssd out as it was dying and could no longer be used. But the HDD it was on was still working well just. Another thing to add they gave me Windows 10 home edition free since they cannot bring back 7 because of the services will be over. Unpset me a bit biut it was an eventuality that i was gona have to change anyways. Now for the MAIN problem. When i start installing all programs on my 10 first off i have avast as my antivirus. then while browsing and watching youtube video the whole computer lags. NOt by much but enough to cause the sound to crackle and buzz lag. I know its not a audio problem because I see the browser being slow as well as the mouse. I look up task manager and cpu was not spiking at all running low 20% gpu as low as 8% and RAM 14% since i have 32gb of memory. I would like to know what is the real problem. Ive clone the drive in to a new one a hydbrid drive but still i get lag and when i move my videos and watched them they lag A LOT to the point where its unwatchable. Even the mouse was moving a bit slow when media is playing. Please please please help me. This whole week I was stressed because of that ssd that died therefore had to start all over again and now im with a slow computer with a new operationing system that i am not used to. what do you think is the cause and please how to fix it. yes all the drivers are up to date and i ran a disk check also the graphics card as they lied to me saying they installed it to the latest but i checked and they didnt so i installed the latest. Even now it would lag a bit when i scroll the page up or down Please help ASAP and thanks

I'm an editor in my school paper/news, I'm thinking of starting my own YouTube channel on gears/techs students like myself use. I'm wondering if my home rig is enough for the editing and maybe a little streaming. My home build : https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1061739-amdmsi-1080p-itx-build-my-red-room/ I'll be using my brother's server for storage.

i had this thought for the next season of scrapyard wars. what if, both teams had an inexperienced person who didn't know that much about computers, and the catch is the inexperienced team member must do all negotiation, and must lead the building process in the end, the other member is primarily there to guide the person with things like, what they would recommend looking at in terms of parts and how to build the pc. but the inexperienced member must lead the way in the final decision making.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-47408969WTF Google!Once again its the minority "groups" ruining it for everyone else!Whats next, facebook banning all commenting on photos / videos of kids?! ?Obviously they will be using facial recognition and advanced algorithms to calculate which videos contain minors... however how will this detect videos such as archived footage going back several decades. For example I upload a video of myself as a child (80's child ) running around on a beach whilst on holiday ... will that commenting be disabled for featuring a child?Or how about artists like Aled Jones... he has just released music albums of him singing in duet with himself as a child... and I've seen video compilations on youtube of him as a child as well.Or Michael Jackson singing as a child on youtube... how will the algorithms cope with that!!!!! ---------------------------------------- Granted... there are is a lot of COMMENT guff in the majority of mainstream content so trolls won't be too pleased either! My problem is the whole blanket ban approach.. this kind of approach never ends well... and it sets a president for other companies I use Facebook for example to share video content of my child with grandparents and family members, some of which live thousands of miles away.. Again my problem with this blanket approach is that other media companies like Facebook will more than likely repeat this approach on their own platforms and all of a sudden can't comment on family stuff! Some further examples...High Street Bookstores...here in the UK we have Waterstones... a large retail chain who's primary product is books. If this blanket ban mentality continues either as a direct decision by the retailers themselves or as a mandate by Government, then in this example, the children sections of these stores which are decorated to attract and please children, suddenly became a no go zone enforced by staff for adults! The mentality would be that there is a possibility of Peadophiles hanging out in this section of the store, running the risk of attempting to offer the children sweeties and puppy dogs! AKA blanket ban of ALL adults entering the children area of Waterstones bookshops!LucozadeThis is now a product which has received a blanket ban to children converselyBecause of its high caffeine and sugar content, minors are legally restricted from purchasing this and similar products. Let's say Im out for the count with flu symptons and I need my 11year old child to head to the local shop to buy me some. Nope, the government have blanket banned minors from purchasing "energy drinks" because of a small amount of incidents where minors have either died or come to severe harm because of these products. What happened to educating children? Be-it in the home or in school (or both).Or look at China and the almost complete ban of all but government sanctioned website and internet products.BLANKET BANS = NANNY STATE PEOPLE!Why should companies like google or governments forcing them, try and protect the public from harm? When it comes to children, its education / education / education all the way.

A while ago Linus decided to reach a compromise with his audience, he'd still use the obnoxious thumbnails & titles because the current state of Youtube sadly favors that BUT he'd also include a - "what the video is actually about" identifier after the clickbait title so we can actually search for specific products/reviews/etc. While this solution isn't perfect, I was more than happy to have that compromise, and with Linus' promise I felt better about supporting the channel. Commitment to that promise has been getting shakier over the past few months. Before it was just the odd 1 in 20 videos that didn't conform which is forgivable. But now, I fear that commitment is slipping even further: Attached below is a simple screenshot of LTT's videos from today to about 3wk ago Decided to use my amazing photoshop skills to make 3 symbols to show "title-promise" conformity. Green check = perfectly serviceable, would be able to search & find with almost no hassle. Orange dash = essentially clickbait purgatory. These aren't egregious offenses and with some annoyance & difficulty you could probably find a specific video if you were looking for it. Clearly room for improvement. Red X = marking the spot for unambiguous clickbait. The titles serve no purpose other than to trick people into clicking by dangling a "ooOOOooo, what's in here I wonder?? HMMM?" thread hoping that random people will pounce at it. I'm not including Linus' little Beat Saber because that's just a one-off fun video or the WAN shows because those encompass several topics and making a title that accurately portrays an hour worth of dynamic content isn't possible. While I personally wish all this clickbait bs & obnoxious expression + overly saturated colors thumbnail trend would go away entirely, and I think its underhanded to exempt TechLinked from the whole "clickbait - actual title" paradigm. But I understand that doing this stuff helps LTT thrive in Youtube's little ecosystem. And I like Linus, been a fan since 2012, so I'm happy to see him succeed. Whole point of this post is to just say "please keep your promise." When I only see 8 out of 19 titles in a 3wk span of videos that follow what Linus promised he'd do, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Feels like I've been lied to, and I have little interest in watching someone who makes me feel like that.

I am looking for an audiophile over ear headphone to use for gaming, music, and videos. I have a max pricepoint of $400 USD for both the headphone and amp (if needed). I would love if they are wireless but wired also works too. They don't need to have noise cancelling. I was looking at either getting the drop pandas or the senhiser hd6xx and a schiit magni 3+ but I don't know which one or if there are other, better options. The gaming I do is not super competitive but I do like to play games like valorant sometimes. Also I am not going to purchase them right now so if it is on preorder ending in September or October like the 6xx and pandas that is okay. I would love is you would help me decide!!

When I hover my mouse to a Youtube video while it is playing, it turns black at some seconds. Why? It is annoying while I only watch with sounds and without the video.

Advice Please. We are currently starting a project of translating all our installation videos for use world wide. The issue I have is we distribute via flash drive, as some of the mining sites, customers or installers don't have access to youtube or internet. We currently doing English, French, Spanish, Portuguese & Arabic, with sights on German and Dutch. Is there a way for me to have the multiple language audio tracks per video on a flash drive and be easily selectable for a user? Ideally if it selects via the region, this would be great. If we go with multiple videos, this pushes us from either a 8gig or 16gig flash drive to a 64gig flash drive. We dont always have the luxury of doing a language specific flash drive.

Good day LTT! I've run into an issue with the photos app on Windows 10 with video creation and export. When trying to export an 11:53 video, by clicking the "export or share", it will process all the way to 100%, then say "Something Went Wrong" "We Couldn't Save Your Video". This happens with all 3 "size" options. Not really sure if there is a way to save the project from there. I know there aren't any space issues, as the destination drive has over 200GB of free space. I know this is a common issue, based on threads on the Microsoft forums, but I couldn't find any solution other than use a different app. System specs are in my signature, but the i5-6500 and 16 GB of DDR4 shouldn't be an issue. I am running Windows 10 Pro 1803, OS build 17134.228. Please let me know if there is anything that I should try or if more information is required. Thank you in advance!

My wife watches Simply Nailogical on youtube. She appears to be a Canadian and edits her own videos. Linus could build a NAS for her. Would be hilarious. https://www.youtube.com/user/simplynailogical

laptop Video editing laptop for college
Matthew Lemonius posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
IN September I'm am going to college for film and I'm not sure what laptop to get. the budget cap is 1,500 I can't decide whether to go with a man laptop because it's basically industry standard equipment or getting a high powered thin and light laptop. I'm not 100% sure if I even need a beefy laptop for school. if anyone can recommend a good laptop it would be appreciated -
Hey guys I was watching LTT and I was wondering if Linus and the crew had done in the past or were planning on doing tech and computer videos specifically targeted at small business owners. They show a lot of stuff about how they run LTT tech-wise, with the servers, editing rigs and whatnot; but it would be good to maybe see some videos where they do some tutorials and projects aimed at small businesses that use a lot of IT equipment. I run a small photography bidness, so using that as an example, a tutorial for pc building specifically targeted at photo and video workloads, smaller budget oriented raid setups, maybe even small tutorials for using programs that sponser LTT content, like freshbooks or whatever. Idk, I just get sick of the RGB GAMER FORTNITE ULTIMATE RGB (FOR DOUBLE RGB) GAMERNESS stuff. I play a shit tonne of games, but I'm sure there's plenty of subscribers who also own businesses, or help run them. Just a thought... what does the community think? And forgive me if this has been posted before, I didn't have time to check the 500,000 posts on this forum. cheers

How do you guys feel about the recent vacuum videos? Did they "suck" or did you enjoy them? I personally had mixed feelings as I thought the auto-cleaner was pretty sweet due to proof of concept but could care less about a standard vacuum I'll never be able to afford anyways. Of course the team always finds a way to make even the most mundane topics exciting, so let me know what you think.
