Hey guys, I have an early 2020 macbook air (scissor keyboard, intel) and sometimes all of a sudden it displays colourful dots all over the screen, as if someone had dropped sprinkles on it, but whenever I move the mouse they go away. It’s also sometimes unresponsive for like a couple seconds and when it starts responding again, all programs freak out. Like iCloud says that I need to log in again, creative cloud says that it’s reconnecting, Bluetooth breaks for a bit, and in general it looks as if I had rebooted the machine. I asked around and apparently it’s a memory issue, but I ran the native diagnostics utility (pressing D while booting up) and nothing turned up. I did a backup of all my files just in case. Could it be that? Do you guys have any other ideas?

Where is the RAM controller on skylake?
CornFlix._. posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I am troubleshooting for a friend and narrowed it down to the ram controller. He has an z170 board so its skylake or the generation before. It wont start with a 3 short beep - beepcode which means that something is up with the ram. The ram sticks are totally fine and different ram wont do the trick. The only thing left is the ram controller which is either on the cpu or the northbridge. I can't find any useful information online which is why i am asking here. I dont want to tell him to buy a new motherboard only to realise that he needs a new cpu. -
So I've had my Monster Rockin Roller 3 for a few years now and I can't get any of the buttons to work. For example When I hit the source button it pops on screen error code 3 and sometimes error code 4. (Err-3) (Err-4) or something close to that. I can't find any reference online about what the codes mean. Does anyone know what is wrong with my speaker?

I built a PC last year with an ASRock B450 Pro4 motherboard and 2x8GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX modules. It works fine but I wanted to upgrade to 64GB of RAM for development (VMs and compilation). I bought 2x32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200MHz modules but when I install them, the PC keeps restarting itself. After some basic troubleshooting I can confirm it's not because of the old XMP profiles that are still loaded. I cleared the UEFI by shorting the CMOS jumper and even removed the CMOS battery to be extra sure. I can also confirm I didn't break anything as I installed the old modules again and the PC works fine. I'm not new to PC building and I'm a fairly advanced PC user so feel free to give technical instructions or ask technical questions for extra troubleshooting if needed. My 2 questions would be: - Could it be that the ASRock B450 Pro4 doesn't work with 32GB modules? The specifications say it should be able to handle 128GB of system memory, and with 4 slots, that should mean 32GB per slot. In the manual that comes with the motherboard, it does say that only 64GB of system memory is supported so I don't know what to believe. AMD's website doesn't have information about the maximum amount of memory for the B450 chipset (if the chipset even plays a role in this). - If it doesn't support 2x32GB modules, would it support 4x16GB 2667MHz modules? I could really use the 64GB of memory... This is my second post here so I hope I did everything correctly... Thanks in advance for the help forum people

New to LTT forums so I hope this is the right place to ask. In HWInfo, my normal "GPU Temperature" is usually fine, maxing out at 70C, but my hotspot temp consistently gets to 90-95 under moderate load, and playing intensive games like Cyberpunk can bring it up to 105 or so. I've tried opening up my case and pointing a fan on full-blast at it to see if it was just an airflow issue, but that only decreased temps by 2-5C. I've also tried some of the basics like updating drivers and dusting my card with compressed air. The only thing left I can think of is to repaste, but I'm not an expert at this stuff and I don't want to ruin my graphics card in the middle of an already busy semester. In case it matters, my card is the MSI Ventus XS OC 2080 Super.

So, I'm new here, and was hoping to get some help. I upgraded my PC quite some time ago, and in june of 2023 I build a case for it from scratch. The PC was working fine with no trouble whatsoever. Now, after using it just two days ago, and without warning or appearant reason, the PC stopped working. I disconnected everything, and checked the power button. The button works as it should, but I noticed that whenever I power on the PSU, the RGB lighting on my motherboard flickers, but doesn't turn on. The power on light on my graphics card does stay on. Im thinking it is eighter the PSU or my motherboard, but don't have spare parts. So my question: what do I do now? I obviously don't want to just buy parts for it not to be the issue later on. Computer specs: Cpu: Amd Ryzen 5 3600Hz Gpu: Asus tuf rx 5600 xt Ram: g.Skill ddr4: Ripjaws-V 4x8GB Motherboard: Asus Rog strix B450-f gaming EDIT: a bit of a good news / bad news situation; good news: PC is fixed Bad news: no idea whatsover what the culprit was. After waking up this morning and having it sit disconnected overnight, i tried again to fire it up, and to my suprise it actually works so, no new part, nothing changed as far as i'm aware, but it rust smootly again. Thanks to anyone that took the time to respond to my question.

Problem: For the last two or three graphics driver updates (via GeForce Experience), the screen goes black (as usual) but then I can hear something changes with the fans and then after waiting a while I get a BSOD (see attached image). I have no idea what causes it. It is only when I update my drivers that it does this. The only other weird behaviour that I see with my PC is sometimes after I close Path of Exile my computer often lags a lot and is super slow. That may resolve itself eventually but usually I shut the computer down then. Any idea what could be the issue? Should I be worrying about my hardware? Should I reinstall windows?

My intel AX200 wifi+BT adapter keeps randomly disconnecting or overall behaving in an extremely erratic way out of nowhere. I've had this computer for almost 2 years, and sometimes I have issue with the adapter almost every 5 minutes, sometimes it works like a charm for several months. The issues can range anywhere from getting massive ping spikes (5ms>>>1000+ms), randomly disconnecting from the SSID (I can see the physical light turn off on the PCIE card), or not being able to connect to 5GHz networks and only connecting to 2.4GHz ones even while very clearly being within reach. Solutions I've tried so far: Doing a full network reset Updating drivers/ Rolling back drivers/ Using older drivers from several years ago Using different DNS/ Channels Full windows update Booting a new OS version The thing I'm confused by the most is that it might start behaving weirdly out of nowhere, I'll use a USB dongle temporarily and when I wake up the next day and boot up the PC, it's somehow magically fixed but when I manually restart the PC, it changes nothing after several attempts. And sometimes it'll work flawlessly for several months at a time without so much as a peep, but then suddenly go rough for a couple of weeks, and back to being flawless without anything from my end. My specs are attached to the post. I'm really frustrated about this because nothing I've tried/read about doesn't seem to work. I live in a shared house and don't have access to the wifi router settings, but so far it doesn't seem like an issue on the router side since these issues would happen even when I did try changing wifi settings back in my old house. Changing PCIE slots hasn't worked either, and I even got it replaced once from warranty. Any help on this would be highly appreciated. I have a MSI G271 monitor and when I adjust the hz to anything above 120, the bottom 20 or so pixels will begin flickering. By flickering, I mean they're unresponsive and delayed when something is meant to be displayed on them. I am using an rtx 3060 ti founders edition graphics card if that helps and I have tried switching to two different hdmi cables with no fix.

My pc doesn't boot anymore with a displayport connected, I've tried using two different cables but nothing. The cable use to boot fine but one day the lights in the pc turned on but keyboard didn't, I have to unplug the cable and then wait for the keyboard light to come on to plug back in. Why would this start to do this? I hadthe cable for a year without any issues, cables are from a main tech retailer where I live. Both cables use to boot fine. On windows 10

Hello people, It seems I've stumbled into some unknown issue with my graphics card that is very difficult to diagnose. I've had an EVGA RTX 2080 Ti SC since March 2020, and it has worked flawlessly up until now. Two days ago i got a sudden crash playing Apex Legends, which has since then continued to crash my PC in multiple scenarios. What I've experienced 1. PC does not crash in windows, or in any non-game applications. 2. PC crashes during gameplay or while starting a game, i have tested many different games and the same goes for all of them. 3. Game crashes during gameplay, but PC does not crash. For example Apex Legends has given 2 similar errors: DXGI_DEVICE_ERROR_RESET and DXGI_DEVICE_ERROR_HUNG. 4. PC will crash during regular use, however, ONLY after i have experienced a BSOD crash from any game. It's like there are issues that reverberate after a BSOD crash that affects everything, even regular use. (only happens irregularly) What I've tested 1. different displayport cable 2. different displayport port 3. different pci-e slot 4. different pci-e cable 5. DDU driver uninstall and reinstall 6. Nvidia debug mode 7. Plug in gpu into entirely different PC (same crash happens) 8. Use my old GTX 980 (this works, no crashes at all) There are no thermal issues at all with the card as far as i can tell. The latest driver 537.42 was released 2023-09-21, which is more than 10 days before the crash. I can't wrap my head around why this would happen all of a sudden, I'd love to get some insight or feedback on how to further diagnose this. Unfortunately the card is 7 months past it's 3 year warranty period. I have spoken to EVGA and they can't provide me an RMA case for this.

Hello Guys I turned off my pc and i saw that my gpu light is red. That ahould indicate a problem. But my pc is off. If i start my pc it boots normally and i can use my gpu normally. I thought its red because it doesnt get powered because the pc is off. Should i get worried? Is there a problem? I dont know where to start solve tbh. There isnt any qleds lighting on the motherboard.

I recently upgrade my gpu from a Gtx 980 to a rtx 3090 msi suprim x. Doing so I upgrade my power supply from a 750w to a 850w. I also purchased a new case to fit the gpu. Essentially rebuilt the computer from the ground up last week and have not had much of a chance to use it. Fresh windows install and updated drivers. The pc worked flawlessly after the rebuild. The pc turned on today. Watching videos and decided to undervolt the gpu. Everything seem to be fine. Found a stable undervolt and ran benchmarks with no issue. I then decided to turn the pc off to get some errands done and clicked update and shut down. I soon noticed that as the pc shut down, it was turning back on and then shut down again. Pc began power cycling. Nothing I’ve done has been able to solve the issue. Steps I’ve taken: -removed gpu - reset cmos by removing the battery -started pc without gpu and got into bios -updated bios again -went into windows with integrated graphics to reset msi afterburner settings -reinstalled gpu and kept display connections to integrated graphics Nothing works as soon as I install the gpu. It power cycles. The lights on the mobo go from cpu dram vga and stops at vga then shuts down. Never makes it to the boot light. Does anyone have any solution as to what have gone wrong? It was working perfectly fine before I hit update and shut down. a note: please before you critize me for what I do, know that im a student and barely saved enough to get a potatopc...so try to undersstand:> ive been using JD2 to automate the process of downloading from ovagames for a long time.. but recently it doesnt work. and heres how: usually in the past, when i used to start the crawler, it'd process a bit and then show me a captcha to solve(usually the very last one of them) and then the password and done. but now, it skips the captcha thing and just asks for the password . but it doesnt work! it says ''wrong password' in the link grabber instead of the files.. i mean its gonna be very hard to download each file one at a time of the whole download..

. I've had my Samsung 49" Odyssey OLED G95SC since launch, and I've been having an issue. I've never used an ultrawide before, so this might be user error. My rig is a i7 10700k, msi rtx 3070ti gaming x, and 32gig ram. windows 10 When using it at 5120x1440 and display port I get real bad, with lack of a better way of putting it, screen tearing. I can be just on a google document or watching a YouTube video, and the screen just starts shacking and tearing. When I'm on HDMI it gives me static every now and again. The strange thing is when I have 2 cables coming off my GPU, one display port and one HDMI, at 2560x1440 it works fine. I have reset the drivers in safe mode. updated everything. used different display ports, and cables. I don't know what else to try. Since the screen works fine in Samsung hub, with an xbox hooked up running 2650x1440, and my gpu running two cables and multi-window what could be the problem. Is my 3070ti really not strong enough to run it at native full resolution. Could every cable I have be bad, including the one samsung provides and the main one I use on my 1070ti set up? Or could it be windows 10 being....well windows. If anyone knows what could be going on it would be appreciated. screen freak out.mp4

Please help. Fresh build. The issue was present as soon as I first installed windows 10. This is the same setup I was using with my previous rig (which worked perfectly), I literally unplugged the displayport cable from one and plugged it in to the other. Now, I've updated the bios, all display drivers, the monitor driver, switched out the displayport cable, disabled and reenabled gsync compatibility, disabled all startup programs, tried the other display ports on the GPU. I have not tried a different monitor because this one works fine with all other devices, and I don't have another monitor that supports displayport to try. Now, I just did a fresh install of Windows to try to fix the issue, hoping it could be windows related. However, it persisted and even happened during the windows setup process, which i was finally able to capture on video. Usually it happened in flashes of no more than a second or two, but these ones during the install were up for about 10 seconds. I am running out of things to try, and am pretty well getting nowhere with the diagnostic and troubleshooting. I have just about two weeks remaining to return or exchange the GPU if that is the issue, which is what I suspect it is. Is there any way I can test to specifically find out? Any other things I can try to fix the issue? What could even be causing it, everything is brand new except the PSU, but again, it was taken right from my previous rig. i have everything setup perfectly but it seems that obs is not picking up my system and game sounds even discord when i set the goxlr to chat. i downloaded the GitHub - GoXLR-on-Linux/goxlr-utility: An unofficial GoXLR App just seeing if this app the one i downloaded its the problem and if there is another one that will work better. if you can suggest a better on that would be great. but this sound problem is really making me scratch my head since i cant find a solution anywhere on the internet and contacted obs in discord and they said that there was an the issue is likely upstream of obs which i don't know what that means. just to not im using easy effects and pavucontrol can someone help me. also before i never even had the goxlr hooked up only my mic and obs never even picked up my desktop audio even without the goxlr so i dont know what the problem is and i am kinda new at Linux please help me

Specs : CPU : Ryzen 7 2700x Mobo : Strix B450-f Gaming Ram : Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200mhz CL16 (Samsung) GPU : Asus rtx 3060 TI dual I recently bought an AIO for my R7 2700x, while removing my stock Wraith prism cooler I noticed it wouldn't come out even though the latches were off, the thermal paste provided had "glued" itself together so my CPU and the cooler was stuck together. I thought it was just hard to get off so when i pulled it out the CPU came with the cooler. 3 pins were bent in the process but i straightened them carefully. I got the system running again but quickly realised my RAM was only running at 2133 mhz. I have tried D.O.C.P(X.M.P.) and manually overclocking the RAM but i either get BSOD or it won't post. with D.O.C.P. enabled it just runs at 2133mhz. Could this be due to the pins being bent and should i just get a new CPU? If not could the motherboard be broken? P.S : The RAM ran at 3200mhz just fine before switching the cooler. IMPORTANT NOTE : I tested the RAM slots and A1 and B1 does not even post with D.O.C.P, meanwhile A2 and B2 boots and shows 2133Mhz. Also i flashed BIOS and installed the latest Chipset drivers a day before.

Hi, I built a new pc about a month ago but today out of no where the AIO cooler starting making a really loud rattling type of noise. im just wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what it could be? My temps seem fine so far but im not sure if the AIO is on the way out or not. Certainly hope not considering it’s only a month old. I really need this PC for work so any help is greatly appreciated so I can get it fixed ASAP. I plan on checking to see if the fans are loose and causing the noise. I doubt that would be the issue but I’m hoping it’s a simple fix like that again any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance sorry for the short clip. Couldn’t upload anything more due to file size IMG_0800.mov

Hallo Sers i experience this specific problem When my computer is idle and turns off the monitors, all of them go blank and then the backlight turns off as expected. However, a few minutes later, one of them, the ASUS PG329Q awakens, and flashes the indication displayport, but the backlight turns on and stays on forever. All of my monitors (three of them) are connected to my GPU via DP cables. None of the other monitors presents this problem. Seems to be a very common problem for various monitor models, when the monitor is connected via DP. Various resolution steps that I went through but did not work: · Multiple DP cables · DDU uninstalled NVIDIA drivers · Multiple NVIDIA drivers · All monitors OC settings · All ASUS display widget settings · Update GPU BIOS · Unplugging USB3 cable · Factory reset of monitor · Reflash the latest firmware For your information, I quote below reports on various similar issues for different models and brands with common ground DP connection: Asus https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/hgydke/asus_pa278qv_wont_go_into_sleep_mode/ https://linustechtips.com/topic/1334859-motitor-wont-go-to-sleep-connected-to-displayport/ https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/monitor-wont-stay-asleep-power-light-turns-back-on-but-screen-goes-black.3690392/ https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/discover/252346/monitor-wont-sleep-windows-10-creators-update/ Other https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FI5QyNR9X_4&t=63s https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/primary-monitor-wont-sleep-go-black-during-power/cbc3fead-ac47-4929-959a-e99ddefae61b https://www.reddit.com/r/MSI_Gaming/comments/i7ar61/monitor_backlight_stays_on_when_connected_via/ https://www.reddit.com/r/ZOTAC/comments/ke2es6/3060ti_displayport_monitor_backlight/ https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/632743/vg280k-backlight-turns-on-and-off-forever-via-displayport-when-monitor-sleeps https://dough.community/t/backlight-stays-on-when-i-put-computer-to-sleep/30906 I tried and i failed to update the GOP firmware at my inno3d 3090 via this tool AMD and Nvidia GOP update (No requests, DIY) - BIOS/UEFI Modding / BIOS Modding Guides and Problems - Win-Raid Forum (level1techs.com) and this GOP Update and Extraction Tool (NVIDIA Only) - BIOS/UEFI Modding / BIOS Modding Guides and Problems - Win-Raid Forum (level1techs.com) with the same result Invalid firmware detected PS: Interesting finding when I am logon in windows, and I swap. display port cables between monitors the "problematic" monitor seeps correctly and the other one has the problem now after I restart my pc the problem reset to the ASUS monitor if anyone can modify my bios with new GOP i will be thankfully VGA Bios Collection: Inno3D RTX 3090 24 GB | TechPowerUp Any other suggestions will be appreciated ASUS PG329Q monitor win11 22H2 build 22621.2215 mainboard ProArt X670E-CREATOR BIOS :1602 PG329Q firmware v036 inno3d rtx3090 bios 94.02.59.00.DD GOP 0x6000a nvidia 537.13
