Hello there, i want to build myself a new pc, itx form factor to be precise. CPU will likely be a ryzen 2nd gen , ryzen 5 2600. Now i have a "old school" 5.1 sound setup, where my current motherboard has dedicated jacks for front, rear, and the center/sub combo jack. the following link is the price searching/comparing site (i live in germany but for the sake of writing english i switched to the uk variant) https://skinflint.co.uk/?cat=mbam4&v=e&hloc=de&hloc=uk&sort=t&xf=317_B450%7E326_7.1%7E4400_Mini-ITX So i looked for an itx board but to only see they claim to have 7.1 sound and only have 3 jacks(except the asrock but this seems to be not good(?)) https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/does-msi-b450i-have-7-1-audio.3372750/ here one does say it works if you plug the center/sub cable into the third jack and tell Realtek that it is a speaker. Does this work and does this work well? can you still use the front connector for a headset(mic and of course audio)(usb sound dongle would be fine if its only that problem)? or do i have to buy a shitty usb soundcard where there seems to not exist a good one.

Hi, I have a bit of a struggle and can't seem to find it out for myself. I have a total of 5 speakers and a subwoofer, they're not the same in any way but I would like them to run in 5.1 surround. I know this should be possible, I just have one small issue getting it working. In Windows the center en subwoofer channel are one and the same jack. I would need 2 separate jacks to get it working because of how my speakers need to be connected. Now for the question, is there a sound card or software utility that will let me configure each jack to a single channel instead of combining center and subwoofer? I have searched but I couldn't find anything that will surely work. I would hate to spend money on something that will not solve my problem. Thanks in advance!

Just got my new 4k HDR 10 enabled tv and I have an Nvidia shield for watching things off my Plex server. But I hate using the TV's multiple inputs as the interface sucks and the other option would be swapping cables. I don't have a sound bar or surround setup so the 2 40mm drivers facing the wall in the tv is all I have and it sucks. I don't have a big budget since I just dropped $700 on the tv. Any ideas on a good set up with easy to run/hide cables? Thanks ahead of time ?

I have HyperX stinger and thinking for upgrade so need some options If there is something really good for 150$ and worth it I don't mind

SoIi recently bought the HyperX Cloud Alphas and tried them on my Macbook. Perfect sound and I could pinpoint the source precisely. But then I tried them on my Win10 PC and even with the soundcard by HyperX, I only heard flat stereo and no surround. I don't get why that is. I tried it via USB and 1,5mm jack but nothing changed. Can someone explains why I cannot get surround (yes I know it is virtual) on my alphas when connected to my PC?

Why have I never heard of this?!?! I was browsing youtube and got recommend and a song claiming "8D" audio so I clicked on it to see what all the hype was about. Turns out its the coolest thing ever! It sounds like the artist is right next to you and the music will have you pulling your headphones off to make sure no one else can hear your music. If you have never heard of '8D' music I recommended you put some headphones in and got on youtube and just look up "8D music" *note* if you don't use headphones you will be missing out on a lot Let me know what you think. ?

I want to play a movie from my PC to the TV via HDMI 1.4 cable. I'm having a problem with downmixing though. My TV is quite old and cheap model and it doesn't have proper downmixing software in it. My question is, can I set that my PC downmix the movie from surround to stereo? Will that fix my problem? Thx for all answers.

Greetings Everyone, I'm new to the forum so apologies in advance If i have posted in the wrong place. I am currently building a 737-800 Flight simulator in my basement. The setup includes 4 Samsung MU7000 series TVs in a 1X4 config. They are connected to two GeForce GTX 1080s. I am able to configure Nvidia surround with no apparent problems, however when I try to load a scenario in Prepar3d, I only get audio with no visual coming from any of the 4 TVs. I also get a message from Prepar3d saying "This Device (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080) stopped working for the following reason: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG" I use to run the setup with only two of the TVs in a 1X2 config, and I had no issues whatsoever. This problem has only happened after I installed the last two TVs. I have researched countless hours about this error message and have come up with no solutions. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! Below are pictures of my setup.

Hello all, Have anyone here read/know about using multiple inexpensive BT speakers with a pc to create a surround system. Or even two soundbars (one front, another rear)? I was thinking to get 2 budget decent sound bars total cost 300$ and use the BT to frankstein a surround system for PC. Reasons: A. Cost B. Cables The front bar should be placed under my screen, about 80 cm away from me. The rear bar, I would place it above the door behind me, so it would be higher than me and directed diagonally about 2.5 meters. Much appreciated!

So I've been looking around for a bit today and came across the Logitech G533 headphones, Razer Nari and others but still struggling to decide which is good. I play mainly FPS games like CS:GO and Battlefield 4. I don't really have a budget but I would still consider cheaper options.

my motherboard able to output 7.1 surround, but i only use the stereo configuration. So im planning to get a home theater to use all the outputs from the motherboard. 1. Does gaming with 7.1 surround help my gaming performance? 2. Is it really improve my gaming experience?

After coming back from vacation, I was...pleasantly surprised that my desktop updated to build 2004. Among other weird things I noticed but managed to fix, I was left with one very severe problem for me - my speaker setup is completely broken somehow. The way my audio is setup is: a 5.1 speaker system through 3 3.5'' jacks going into an amplifier (which is also a subwoofer), which then goes out to the individual speakers. I've been using only the subwoofer, front stereo speakers and the center one, the rear ones I have unplugged. Previously, I had them all in-use with the speaker-fill enhancement to have some nice stereo sound with the added bass from the subwoofer and everything seemed to be fine (not sure what audio configuration I was using, I believe it was the 5.1 one but not 100% sure). After the update what happened is it defaulted to Stereo and use of only the two front speakers (no bass at all). I tried fiddling around with the settings and the only way I was able to get my old setup to work is through selecting the Surround speaker setup with speaker-fill, however I ran into another issue - the bass is clipping a LOT. Using Bass Management enhancement seems to fix that but messes around with the overall volume that ends up with me just raising it again and ending up with the clipping problem again. I'll be honest, I am no audio expert and I have absolutely no clue what happened or what I'm doing when messing with the settings (since Windows 7 it was a very straight-forward setup so never had to deal with this before), any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. NOTE: the reason I have the 2 rear-speakers unplugged is that I don't have space for them.

I got the Asus ROG Strix Z370-F for my recent build, which states 7.1 support on its product pages. It wasn't until I had the build completed that I realized my Razer Tiamat 7.1 headset doesn't work properly, because the mobo is missing the blue "side surround" jacks. Realtek Audio Console doesn't seem to be able to remap Line-in to Side Surround, either. Why would they exclude this feature from a mid-tier gaming mobo?? Is there a way to fix this issue without purchasing a dedicated sound card?

Hey Guys, i have a problem to set up 3 monitors with nvidia surround. I have 2x 1920x1080 monitors and one 2560x1440 monitor. I know that every monitor need to have the same resolution. If you set the third monitor down to 1920x1080 @ 60Hz it doesn't let me check 3 monitors in the nvidia surround setting. Can anyone help me? Thanks and regards
-
Alright guys, So I have 3 monitors, 2 of them being 1080p at 60hz and then 1 1080p at 144hz. I have been trying to set them up with Nvidia surround so that I could play games using all three. However, when I go to configure them in the Nvidia Control Panel it will not allow me to select all three. The control panel recognizes all three, as well as windows. I have tried changing my topology to 1x3 and 3x1 but nothing works. I have also manually made sure all the monitors were all on 1080p at 60hz. I even read somewhere that 3d vision might be affecting them so I uninstalled all of my 3d vision drivers. Everything I do fails,

Hello LTT community! I have a problem with my surrond setup, concering being able to enable it. It have worked perfectly for abount 5 months, and suddenly, impossible to fix. I've not, to my knowledge, updated any drivers. The setup is 5 x 65" Curved 4K UHD TVs (Model: UE65KS7505U) sitting in a hemisphere. (3 x HDMI, 2 x DP) The system is: i7-6850k 32 gb ram 2 x 1080 TI 11gb The display is sitting correctly in the graphic cards, with 3 in one card, and 2 in the other, as specified from Nvidia surround tool. As it is not possible to enable surrond in the resolution of 20480 x 2160, I've been running it at 9600 x 1080 for 5 months, where everything worked perfectly. The problem is now that I cannot select that option anymore, I'm only given the option of 20480 x 2160, which I'm not able to enable. All the displays is set to 1920 x 1080 in resolution and I have even tried using 'Custom Resolution Utility' to remove all resolution entries and only have 1920 x 1080, and set that as native, to try to bypass it that way. But it seems that the surround always picks the highest possible sceen resolution. I know that it is possible to change resolutions once surround is enable, but I can't get to that step. Do you guys know of any way to force surround to a specific resolution?

Hi, I'm currently using a Roccat Khan AIMO and lemme tell you... The audio is as good as I can find for the price I paid with such specs (got it for 90€). But my problem is this rad RGB baby doesn't fare well with VoIP software. Now I only have this headset, and I need to be able to use VoIP effectively for personal and professional reasons. Still, being used to that sweet, sweet surround sound while gaming, I can't put myself to go back to stereo. So I'm looking for recommendations on that one, because the Khan AIMO, despite its good looks (and sound) seems to be unable to give me the much-needed VoIP audio when I alt-tab.

I have 3 monitors, all PG278Q initially, but one broke down and after almost 5 months of waiting, I got a replacement, but it was the PG278QR (refresh of the PG278Q). Both models are 144hz capable and have g-sync but after hooking them up and trying to Surround defaulted to the 1x2 topology for the two PG278Q monitors while the PG278QR was ignored. Manually setting 1x3 topology allowed me to enable surround by manually selecting all monitors, but I am having the following issues: 1) Maximum refresh rate I can set is 120Hz. 3D is disabled, G-sync is on. I could do 144Hz on all three panels when I had three PG278Q monitors. 2) If I number monitors from left to right as 1,2 & 3, then Monitor 1 (left) is perfect and when I grab a window or video and swing it around fast there is no tearing at the edges. Monitor 2 (centre) has tearing and Monitor 3 (right) has even worse tearing. 3) After doing a lot of tearing tests at one point the right half of my centre display was acting weirdly like it was at a different refresh rate from the rest of the panel and I could see a 'reflection' of any window opened on the panel at it's rightmost edge. Needed to shutdown and restart to fix the issue. Additional info: Monitors set to Surround on 1x3 topology; PG278Q(left) + PG278QR(centre) + PG278Q(right) Set to 120Hz (highest option that appears; maximum possible should be 144hz) Two 980Ti cards in SLI (x16 each) All three monitors are connected to top card via displayport. Case is dual system so the PG278QR also has a HDMI attached for when I need to switch and manage the secondary system. Any advice on how I can get 144Hz on all 3 monitors with G-sync and fix the tearing issues would be most welcome. Thank you for reading! :-)

So the question is literally in the title x) I am wondering why Nivida surround is so bad. I am talking from experience here having 3x 1080p monitors for modern gaming (Farcry 5, Assassin's creed Origins, Dirt 4, ETS, ATS ...). Honestly, for gaming, I don't see really any issues apart from the bezels. But as a "daily driver" ? Here are my main complains: - Watching any content full-screen is a nope. - All windows when you try to maximize them they take either the three screens, or the one you don't want. - I have a 4th monitor on top of my setup. Trying to move ANY window to that one is a real pain in the ass. - Windows clock not updating unless you put the taskbar on all screens. Right now, those are the main issues I encounter daily when using my setup in surround configuration. And no I'm not switching every time I start a game because it's just too much time consuming (close all programs interfering, activate surround, wait for monitors to "reboot", change the order of the monitors and add bezel correction, wait for monitors to "reboot" again, and select the bezel corrected resolution). Please take the following propositions taking this into consideration: I am a mere computer technician but I have a base in programming. I don't know if it's because of Nvidia, Windows or if it is considered to much a "niche" market. I don't know how fullscreen is managed on windows / video driver / games side. Now back to the topic! Here is how I could see it working at it's best: Remove surround completely - Give games the possibility to run at a higher resolution in fullscreen regardless of what monitor you are using. OR: Make Windowed mode re-sizable so it could stretch to all monitors (this already works great on Minecraft BTW) Add you own idea! I'd be happy to hear what everyone have to say on this -Jerp

I recently built a surround setup using three pg279q monitors and powered by 1080 ti sli however whenever I play a unreal engine title such as fortnite, both gpus get pinned to 100% I get terrible performance and the game crashes after 5-10 minutes. Disabling SLI is not an option because each 1080 TI only has 2 display port outputs so I can't power all three monitors without also disabling surround which defeats the purpose of this setup. I have tried disabling SLI through nvidia inspector however that along with changing the rendering mode does absolutely nothing, I have also reinstalled my drivers multiple times.
