Hi, As the title suggests i'm in the middle of choosing components for a new build based on the Sabertooth 990FX motherboard, with ether a AMD 8320 Black edition or a AMD 8350 Black edition. But I was wondering what options I have in regards to lighting. Can I get some led strips which watch the motherboard's color scheme? below is a list of the components I have chosen so far, please give both your input on the color scheme as well as any other improvements you think I should make to the parts list. List of components: Corsair Vengeance Series Military Green C70 Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 Motherboard Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9G Vengeance 8GB - Gold (or a 2133 equivalent if possible) EVGA Supernova 750W PSU or a Corsair Builder Series CXM 750W PSU Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO (120mm) or a Corsair Hydro Series H100i Based on if I want to overclock the system now or later on. That's the list so far need options on lighting and a colour matching PSU if possible as well as color matching SSD and anything else I might have missed out. BTW i'm going to hold back on the graphics card for now and continue to use my Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Graphics Card, from my old rig for the time being and will hopefully upgrade later on. I might also consider Noctua fans for the H100i if I get that, but I'm not sure on which one's to get for that purpose and whether or not they will match the build. Thanks!

Hi again. Right now I have Two (2) of Kingston HyperX Blu KHX1600C10D3/8GX RAM sticks installed in my system. Totally 16 GB RAM in my Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 system. Oddly this RAM set show up in 1333 MHz even it should be 1600 MHz. I can manually and safely raise it 1600 MHz from BIOS? My PC case is Corsair 900D. And my CPU cooler is Noctua NH-U12S. So I am asking Reccomends 32GB kit (8GB x 4) set for my PC system. Memory stick size should not be problem because Noctua NH-U12S allow pretty high profile RAM module installed next of it. So what 32GB kit you are reccomending for my system? Thank you for all who reply for this topic.

Asus Z97 Pro vs Asus Sabertooth Z97 Mark 2 I'm going to be doing a new build on the Z97 platform probably with an i5 4670k, an H100i cooler, and a single R9 280x in the Corsair 600T case that I already have. The Z97 pro and the Sabertooth Z97 Mark 2 are about the same price and seem like solid boards and I'm having trouble deciding which one I should go with. They both seem like really nice boards. Onboard audio isn't important to me because I am using a discrete sound card. SLI and crossfire is not particularly important either since I will most likely be using one GPU. I will probably be doing some overclocking but not anything insane. I will be using the computer for gaming, school work, and media consumption primarily. I'm not currently using any USB 3 devices but this is likely to change. I am not using thunderbolt. Thanks! I'm leaning towards Asus since I've always had positive experiences with them but if anyone has a suggestion in the $180 dollar price range for a similar board from a different manufacturer I would be open to it.

I have 2x8GB of 1600mhz CL9 Corsair Vengeance Memory which I bought just a few months ago, both sticks are unstable at stock speeds. I get errors in Memtest, in Prime95 large FFTs, I frequently get a BSOD with "Memory Management" error and I frequently have issues installing games with the error message "source files corrupted" popping up. This specific Corsair memory is not listed under the supported memory list of the board, however the 2x4GB version is listed. I'm trying to figure out whether #1 both memory sticks are defective, #2 if my DDR3 slots on the board are defective or #3 it's simply a compatibility issue. Any ideas ? System Specs : Motherboard : 990FX Sabertooth R 2.0 running 1708 BIOS. CPU : FX 8320 overclocked to 4.4Ghz using the FSB Memory : Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz CL9, clocked at 1588mhz with stock timings. GPU : Sapphire 7970 OC OS : Win7 64bit Sandisk Ultra Plus boot drive 2TB Seagate Barracuda Storage drive.

First of all, this isn't really a log. I just want to share my rig with this community and since the description to Build Logs was "Show off your rig" I assume this has to be the best category to post it in. Anyways, this is my newest and current rig. I just finished it all a couple of weeks ago but unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures during the assembly of everything. What a bummer, eh? I chose the name "The Excalibur" not only because it's a fucking awesome name but also because I tried to keep my rig as military themed as possible. The military fights wars>The Excalibur is a legendary weapon used in war>Therefore the name fits. You know what I mean, right?. Also, I will exchange the stock Corsair fans for Noctua fans whenever I get money to spare. They're expensive as hell where I live. Specs: Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth Z77 CPU: Intel Core i5 3570k GPU: GTX 780 DC2 PSU: Antec High Current Gamer 620W 80+ Bronze RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB(2x4) (Only 4GB currently since one of my sticks broke ) Case: Corsair Vengeance C70 Military Green Storage: Two random WD HDDs 640GB each Cooling: Corsair H100i Peripherals: Mouse: Random crappy Logitech mouse. Will get upgraded soon. Keyboard: Really old Zboard membrane keyboard. I completely love this keyboard and refuse to upgrade until it breaks completely. Keypad: Razer Nostromo. Not used that often, too small for my hand. Headset: Random Deltaco headset. Will also get upgraded soon. Upgrade Plans: Upgrading the harddrives to something like a 2TB WD Black and a 240GB SSD. Buying a new modular PSU with sleeved cables. Buying new RAM. Exchanging the fans for NF-F12's. Upgrading my mouse to a Steelseries Sensei. Upgrading my headset to some good headset. I haven't decided which one yet. I am terribly sorry for the horrible picture quality. I'm a poor student, I can't afford those fancy system camers. My iPhone camera will have to do for the moment. The case. You probably already know how it looks like. The guts. Looks military enough. Will hopefully look even better with Noctua fans. It's either going to look really cool or ugly as shit. That's the curse of Noctua's fans. Random mini-closeup because why not? The entire battlestation. Where I waste my precious hours of daylight. From another angle. That's basically all I got at the moment. If you've read it all the way to the end, you're a cool dude. I'd really appreciate it if you could leave a comment telling me what you think and if I there's something you think I should add to it. Ciao!

CPU: AMD FX-8350 Black Edition 8-Core Processor (will be overclocking to about 4.5 - 4.7ghz) Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 CPU Cooler MoBo: ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 (or possibly any cheaper ones, that perform as well with overclocking) RAM: 8GB of G.Skill Ares, 1866mhz, 2 x 4GB Case: BitFenix Ronin (if the Noctua D14 fits, if it doesn't fit might go with CM Storm Scout 2 Black) GPU: Gigabyte Radeon HD 7950 OC 3GB Video Card (might get a second one and crossfire in a years time, also might overclock) SSD: Samsung 840 120GB HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB (might expand if need be later on) PSU: Corsair TX-750 (or maybe TX-850 since its only another $15)

I have some questions about the software features. First, can I create multiple overclock profiles and save them within the bios? For example, one profile has all cores overclocked and another profile has 2 cores fully oc'd while 2 others are somewhat oc'd. The other question is, how much control do you have in the bios for oc'ing? I have read that Asus didn't intend this board to be an oc board so I am wondering what the experience is like.

So it seems that I have 2 dead USB ports and a dead Ethernet port on the rear IO of my board. I'm curious though if they could actually still be functional. I'm thinking it could be one of 3 things: 1. Windows 8.1 didnt give me a driver for it 2. Theres a driver error 3. Bios update (Ive been bugged for about 3 months to do it) I was curios if you guys thought that any of those things could be the issue. Ive tried downloading the Intel driver and reinstalling it with no success. As far as I know theyve been dead for about 2 months and I just havent worried about it. Can I do something like boot into Linux and have the driver installed and see if it works? That being if 8.1 messed up my driver

Now, I'm new to PC gaming, so patience may be required as you continue reading. I have been very interested in computers and tech since 1999 when I received my first PC (300mhz Sony Vaio). I never really used them to game though as I've never had powerful enough hardware to play the games I enjoyed. I've been playing games on consoles since Nintendo and always thought them to be a superior solution for gaming. With PCs I'd mostly play with GUI mods, small progz (remember when they were called that before the term Apps came along?!) and little tools to tweak my systems and OS. I bought a PS4 for Christmas last year to celebrate my promotion. I bought a ton of games for it and have really enjoyed the graphics so far. The ones that really stand out are Killzone Shadow Fall, Wolfenstein, MGS Ground Zeroes, BF4 and Watch Dogs. IMO these games look really good. And despite the outcry over inferior resolutions and frame rates, I feel they play very smoothly (with the exception of Watch Dogs occasionally) and look very good. But, I stumbled upon Linus and began watching his videos, exploring his forums, and researching PC gaming. After a couple of months I decided I WANTZ ALL D GRAFIKZ and began planning. Fast forward to today, and I'm typing this post out on my new build. SSS came and went before I had all of my parts together, but I thought it'd be good to take advantage and bought a few games to install once my build was finished. I tried to research and pick the best looking games available deciding on Metro LL, Far Cry 3, Skyrim, The Arhkam Series, Fallout, Fallout NV and a couple others. Now I've played Fallout, NV, and Metro 2033 on console before so I knew I really liked them and their graphics. Now, after spending a few minutes playing Skyrim with HD mods, Metro LL, and Batman Arkham Origins, I'm feeling a little underwhelmed. The high frame-rates have been great - so smooth (when frames don't drop of course.) But between the occasional frame drops, stutters, and honestly underwhelming graphics, I can't seem to convince myself I'm seeing more eye candy than the games on my PS4. I know optimization has something to do with it, console games are usually vigorously optimized to run well on their consoles. And the same optimization must be done for PC Hardware, which must be extremely difficult given the broad range of platform configurations. But I'm thinking I just haven't taken the right steps to properly configure my system and settings. I know I'm using a TN, which may have something to do with the graphics not looking as eye poppingly nice as I want, but to be honest playing my PS4 on my big stupid TV that only puts out 1080p at 60hz just looks better than what I'm now experiencing. Is it a generational gap in the games themselves? That seems very likely also. But I thought being able to pump up AA and running higher FPS would make it nice. I think I'm answering my own questions as I get through this wall of text, but if it's a generational gap in these games, what are some great "next gen" -are you cringing?- games that could enlighten my stupid console peasant self? Could you help me make sure I have everything set up properly also? 4790k-4.8ghz stable gtx780-967mhz - 1.2ghz Thanks to anyone who made it through this somewhat convoluted and surely confused wall of text. I'd love to hear some suggestions. Edit Possible solutions I'm considering are swapping for IPS panel, maybe 1440p, and trying Crysis 3

So, the question has to be asked, Sabertooth Z87 vs Maximus VI Formula? Personally, I prefer the sabertooth as I prefer the look of it and believe that the difference in price is greater than the difference in performance. Anyway, I want to see what you all think, got into a debate about it with a friend today. Also, feel free to discuss what you think of the general direction ROG is going in (spreading out to other products).

I was thinking of purchasing either the Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0 or Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0. They both have what I need but I will be overclocking an AMD FX-8320 with which ever one I purchase. Which do you think I should get? I was planning to go with the Sabertooth but if the extra cost really isn't worth it over the M5A99FX I will go with it.

Ive had my computer since august, and last week when I went to boot it up, just like any other day, there was an error that came up syaing "CPU FAN ERROR" "PRESS F1 TO RUN SETUP" and I run setup, and go to boot options and select my ssd and I'm fine.. This whole time the cpu fan was running btw, I checked. Can anybody help me here? Is the fan header broken, something wrong with the fan? Thanks everyone!

Any other differences between the Sabertooth 990fx R2.0 and Sabertooth 990fx R2.0 GEN3 except the Pci-e 3.0 and different heatsink design? And what's the pci-e 3.0 solution like compared to intel's on chip 3.0, would there be any performance difference if you go say 290x in crossfire?

I am in the process of upgrading my machine for 3 way sli 770s, and I will be getting a new motherboard that surports it. The current motherboard that I have is the Asus Sabertooth z77 which looks really nice, but does not have enough expandtion slots I need for 3 way Sli. It also has really loud motherboard fans, which I managed to get them to only turn on when the cpu gets hot so there quiet. I was going to get the Asus Rog Maximus V extreme, but its eAtx and I'm not sure it will fit in my case (Corsair C70), so I found the Asus P8Z77-V Premium, which does not look as nice or have the features of the Rog board its still really nice. So if you can help me see if this board is the right one for me or will the Rog one fit? Thanks, Alfie.

I wanted to know is there a way to split program audio between mulitple devices. I would potentially like to stream pandora through my speakers and everything else through my headset. I am using a logitech g230 in the front panel audio and my speakers are connected to the back of the motherboard. My motherboard is a asus sabertooth z87. Are there any programs i can use?
