So I freaking hate this button on the side of my phone S8+ messing up picture moments (due to accidental presses instead of volume down) but... - Dear Samsung if I have the camera open and i tap Bixby TAKE THE PICTURE! I digress... I thought i'd give the whole voice assistant thing a chance... say 'flashlight' (when doing something and need a light, possibly one free handed) - half the time it interprets me saying 'fleshy' - I tried it in my dark basement, it said no network, can't do anything - It works ok usually in connected space. say 'Navigate to xyz' - that works well and is a decent way to get directions quickly. (when pulled over in a safe spot of course) say 'notify me to stop working at 5' - we need to unlock the phone first..... WHAT???... unlock phone try again - A.) create a reminder B.) turn off wifi C.) ask Q&A what does this have to do with wifi ?? come on Bixby - try again - opens settings and turns off wifi... it dictated it perfectly and still ... I don't get it. say 'remind me to stop working at 5' - adds to reminders. - no need to unlock the phone. I disabled my Voice Wakeup 'OK Bixby' cause i don't want it distracting my like some Wan Show phone Note :-P So if you use the right words and speak semi-naturally with key words it sort of works. I know it's good for few purposes where you might be too distracted to use the phone. Generally you can unlock the phone and do the thing with less brain effort than remembering the key words. Has anyone found a use for Bixby (or other Voice Assistance) where it's actually handy? other situations where the physical button is a savior cause you can't interact with the screen? Thanks

The Good Bright display Picture quality Narrow design Good processor and graphics Sizable memory and storage Great camera Above average battery life Wireless and typeC charging Robust settings customization The Bad Samsung Bloatware Google Bloatware Too small bezels leave little hand room Vertical shape makes it annoying to one-hand. The speakers are not frontfacing Curved edges have limited utility and makes it harder to case. Digital home button conflicts with active apps. The Ugly Holding the phone covers the speakers Bad value at $800 Price Bixby Button is mandatory.

I'm going to be swapping my s8 for my dad's S7 because he loves the s8 a lot more than I do, I was just wondering what phones are coming out late 2017/early 2018 that I should look into. I know about the pixel 2, note 8 and obviously the new iPhone but is there anything else?

I have a s8 and it is a pretty good phone , but it shows it's age e.g. I need to do a factory reset on it from 6 months to 6 months because it starts to run slow. I want to buy a iphone because it is the most powerful phone and it should still be for 1 year. But I am not sure if I should buy it. I heard rumors that the iphone 12 will have finally a new design e.g. smaller notch , 120hz , 5g , touch id , but we talk about apple so we might not get anything. I want to know if the wait is worth it or I should get the phone and fell good about it. What do you think? Btw I am going to Jailbreak it for sure , ios isn't really what I need.

So just recently I broke my Galaxy s8+'s display after two full years of no scratches, and it was in its case too! So yeah the screen is completely spiderwebbed and its bugging me to the point where I feel as though I need a new phone. However my predicament is that my phone is on a 30 month plan (its been 24 months already) so there is still a payout of about $250 if I want to upgrade. So this initial fee limits my options quite a bit because originally I just wanted to finance a Galaxy s10 for 24 or 30 months. But then I saw the massive price of $1000 USD, and as a college student I really don't have the financial leeway to actually buy a galaxy s10 ontop of the $250 upgrade fee. So my options are limited. I was looking at OnePlus 6T, fantastic phone, for only about $579, or I could buy an unlocked Google Pixel 3 XL (Certified Refurbished) off amazon for about $659. I am already leaning towards to the 6T because of its great software and flagship grade features, and I have heard problems about the Pixel 3's software, but I am also sure that most of them are resolved by now anyway. So basically, should I get the Pixel 3 XL with its great camera's and also the fact that everything from Google Drive, Google Photos, Docs, Sheets, (I use all of these frequently) and all that jazz work beautifully with it, or get the 6T for about $100 less. Anyone who has had either phone, feel free to pitch in your 2 cents.

Howdy My S8 is coming to the end of it's contract and I'm looking for something shiny and brand new, with all the latest features. So, besides an S10, what phones would you recommend? Whilst ive been pretty set on an S10, the Pixels are looking tempting and I'm wondering whether there's something i'm missing. Cheers in advance for your thoughts.

I am looking so swap from an iphone 5S to an android phone, I don't really know much about phones but I think I have narrowed my choices down to a oneplus 5T or 6 if I can find one cheap or a samsung galaxy S8. I am looking for a decent camera and have a budget of around £350. Thank you. edit: I am also looking for a phone that can suport android pay and has alot of space or can add storage to.

It doesn't seem like there's much of a fix so I'm just wondering if anybody else has the problem of the messenger app pinging you with notifications when you don't have any notifications. Every time I open a conversation it does between 1-5 notification sounds. Every time I open messenger after stopping the app it does anywhere between 5-10 notification sounds. I used to think this was because of unread messages in the past, but I went through and opened every conversation that had an unread message and it still does it. edit: THANKS FOR ANY HELP!

I’m thinking of buying an A71 and switch over from my Galaxy S8. I want to transfer all apps, photos and videos, and settings. Can I use Smart Switch to achieve this? It’s unclear if Smart Switch will work from a Galaxy device to a A-series device.

Hello Everyone, So recently I came across a really annoying issue. I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 with Boost Mobile. I wanted to purchase extra Samsung Cloud Storage (The free 15 GB is full). I couldn't see any option to buy more storage anywhere, not even online in my Samsung Account. I contacted Samsung and Boost Mobile, and after about 1 hour of calling around, I found out it's not possible to get more storage because of my carrier. Boost Mobile doesn't support it, and according to a couple of Samsung reps I talked to, they said that you can buy Cloud Storage only if you are on T-Mobile or Sprint. This is so frustrating. I have tried to find something like this around the web, but couldn't find anything. Has anyone come across the same problem? Anyone got any suggested work around? Any ideas to any app/cloud that will back up all of my data constantly (much like iCloud or Samsung Cloud). Please. I'm open to all suggestions and ideas. Thank you

In the market for a new charger but not sure if there's any benefit to using a usbc-to-usbc vs a usba-to-usbc, if both are rated for quick charge 3.0 (does the s8 accept other quick charge features like poweriq??) - Ideally looking for a dual port (or more) charger, 1 port to quick charge my s8 and the other to charge my switch (that port has to be usbc with pd 2 or 3), any recommendations?

Hi, so I've been having a weird issue with my phone recently regarding its Wi-Fi connectivity. I will very often get this exclamation mark beside my Wi-Fi icon, indicating I do not have internet connectivity. This usually happens in a few situations: 1) I have turned on my phone from sleep and go straight into using internet e.g Twitter, YouTube, Discord 2) When I turn off my PC and hop onto my phone 3) When it's past 10PM 4) When I'm watching YouTube videos at 720p+ I tested my Wi-Fi connection by using Speedtest, and it's the usual connection. I don't understand why this happens, so any help as to how it happens and what I can do to eliminate the mark will be super helpful in my endeavour to get stable mobile Wi-Fi again. Things I have already done: • Reset the router • Removed & re-added the Wi-Fi again • Enabled 'Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep'

Alright, so I've been having a few issues with my Galaxy S8 that I've owned for about 9-10 months now, and I want to talk about (possible) planned obsolescence. Samsung Galaxy S8 After having this phone for around 9-10 months it's not looking bright for this phone. After about 6 months I noticed a significant change in battery life. It wasn't by a substantial amount only about an hour to an hour and a half decrease, but it was a sudden change. This may have been caused by me, but I normally don't change my daily usage very much or often. The next thing that popped up was that over the past 2 months or so the phone has been having worse and worse lag spikes (MKBHD recently talked about how he was having a similar issue with his Pixel 2). This is my first time owning an Android device, so I lack experience in this issue. Then most recently I've noticed that when playing videos the audio will often dim as if a notification popped up yet none have. Apple The last iPhone that I had was the 7+ which I had for just over a year I believe. It had great battery life up until it's birthday when the overall battery health started dropping faster than what was normal in the first year. It started to lag a bit, but nothing too bad. that's honestly about it at least for this phone. Closing Statements I love Android, and I never want to go back to IOS. I think that S8 and the S9 look fantastic, but if this is a commonplace thing for Samsung then I NEVER want to go back to Samsung ever again. Between the awful Android skin (not the worse but still stock android is FAR better) and the bloatware (not to mention the rebranded stock Android apps that are preloaded with Samsung) it makes it hard for me to recommend to someone to get a Samsung device. I'd love to hear everyone else's thoughts on this and your experiences.

I've had my S8 for about a month now, and I've always had a habit of taking my phones into the bathroom while I shower so I can have it play music. As of recently, I've been skeptical as to if this can harm my S8's water-resistance in any way. Having watched a teardown video of the S8, it seems easy for steam to make its way and moisturise the hardware. I shower with relatively hot water and I can even see the bathroom mirrors fog up, so I'm wondering if my phone's internals suffer the same fate. My showers last 10-20 minutes so it can't be that drastic, right? When I go to pick up my phone, the back of the phone is slightly damp every time, so that's probably also an indication of something. I use my S8 completely unprotected too, so it's all glass and metal exposed to the air. Would you guys recommend bringing in my S8 and counting on its water-resistance or invest in a completely seperate speaker for my shower musical entertainment?

As suggested by the thread title, I'm undecided whether to purchase a samsung S8 or a oneplus 6. From my research I've found they're both great phones in different ways; the samsung appears to be more feature packed and premium: whereas the oneplus has better raw performance due to it's newer CPU and a cleaner OS. Price isn't really a factor as they can both be found very similarly at this point in time. I'd like some opinions from users of either of the phones to aid me in my choice. Thanks for any responses

So I just ordered a Galaxy S8 at a discounted price and realised that LG has released their new G7 thinQ today. Do you think the G7 would be much of an upgrade to the S8, or should I just settle with the S8?

Had my phone for two months now and I got this problem now. Sometimes but not always the camera open out of focus. Like it's trying to focus on something close to the lense. Waving my hand in front of the lense doesn't seem to refocus the camera. It stays stuck. Even closing the camera app, and shutting down the process and restarting it doesn't always help. Is this a known issue? Anything I could do about it?

Hi guys, I was wondering about my galaxy S8, it has burnt oled display, highly visible marks + it has really terrible battery life ( I charge it 2x a day with quick charger soooo), but there is a small crack on the screen just in the corner, on the telephone they told me that it voids ANY warranty claims, what is your experience? should I fight with them or spend half of my salary on new screen ?
