THE LINKS IN THIS POST ARE NOT SAFE FOR WORK OR FOR PEOPLE UNDER THE AGE OF 18 Ohh Japan, you so crazy. The upcoming game "Custom Maid 3D" will not only feature the "Ju-C AIR" controller, which allows you to control the game with your penis, but they have also announced support for the Oculus Rift! The Oculus Rift will be used for 3D, and the Ju-C AIR will be used to control your avatar in the game. The game is already in beta and it will be officially released the 22th February 2014 and it will cost 13,440 yet (144 USD), and that price includes the, special remote. That plus the Oculus Rift only ends up being about 450 US dollars, which is still far less than a real girlfriend would cost, so you not only get customizability but you also save quite a bit of money in the long run. If they combined this with the technology from Tech Arts 3D, we might even get competitive multiplayer! The whole package: The Ju-C Air. The joystick on the top is used for controlling the camera, or your avatar or whatever. The inside will detect trusts: A kind of safe for work gameplay video with it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ic6k-s3xyv8 Seriously though, it was only a matter of time before this happened. I am not sure if it's pathetic or brilliant. Maybe a bit of both.

Oculus rift prank ideas? Ok. So here's the reason for this post. Me and a friend of mine are gettin pretty exited for the oculus rift. And as i was sitting next to him i noticed that he was wearing closed headphones ;) It was at that moment i realized that there is an epic opportunity for some elaborate pranks to be prepaired. This is basically what your would be prank victim might look like. Note the lack of vision and impaired hearing. There are of course the simple but effective pranks like for instance: Putting a picture of something scary right in front of their immediate field of vision when they take the device off. Putting a fake spider on the wall next to them. I would just like to take this opportunity to see what you guys might come up with And hopefully have a proper arsenal of things to do when the oculus is finally released on the consumer market. If there is a post like this that has been created previously. feel free to lock this thread

I wear prescription glasses. I don't know how many other gamers out there do (c'mon almost all of us). Wouldn't it be cool if the oculus rift came in a glasses compatible version? Or even if you could have the stereoscopic lenses be set to your prescription. Having prescription quality lenses would also make the video look stunning. High quality glass and lenses are critical to playback quality. Anyone have any input or other ideas for the oculus?

I hope most of you reading this are as pissed about Facebook buying Oculus as I am but fear not! It seems like Sony will be our lord and savior in the quest for the ultimate VR experience. Sony recently showed a demo where they let you be in the audience of a concert from The IDOLM@STER, as well as walk around in their talent agency's office. With this, we are one step closed to perfecting virtual waifus. Edit: Should probably add a /sarcasm tag here since sarcasm doesn't travel that we'll over the Internet. I am really excited for virtual waifus though. The future will be glorious.

So with all of the hype surrounding recent events for Oculus VR, I opened my abysmal wallet and a thought occured. The DK2 devkit is great and all, but is it really worth purchasing when a Full Consumer Version could be coming 6 months after? I fear that my $400 AUD investment could be obsolete by the end of the year, which worries me... Any thoughts?
-
So uhhhh... With the DK2 locked in for shipping in July, and the consumer version set for somewhere in December or Q1 2015 (according to speculation), is it even worth getting the DK2 devkit when it will only be obsoleted 6 months later? Thanks

I'm extremely excited for the Oculus Rift. VR's been my dream every watching Sword Art Online. But I do have a few concerns and I'm sure that others do too. So I'm hoping that this Topic can help us dispel some of that. 1) Support for glasses - I wear glasses (they are pretty strong). So I wonder how the developers would implement this. Also, if there would be an additional cost since it may require more R+D or special prescription models. 2) Motion-sickness - As much as I enjoyed Tomb Raider, I would often feel woozy while playing that game. Sometimes similar experiences when playing FPS. At first thought, it came to me that my motion-sickness may be even worse when using the Oculus. 3) PC Requirements - If the Oculus runs TWO 1080p Monitors (one for each eye), wouldn't that mean that some of us wouldn't be able to fully experience it without upgrades? This "some of us" includes me.

What do you think about the Oculus Rift?, Looking foward to it? maybe not so much? Pros? Cons? Lets talk about them! (My personal opinion is that the Oculus Rift is going to change the way we game, maybe not immediately, but in a few years. Its looks really cool to me. At this point in time, I dont think I would want to use it for every game, and It will be a big change ill have to get use to.)

So, sometime in the next few weeks, I plan on buying my system, and I am at odds on a few possibilities, but one of them is in the display-department. Should I get the BenQ XL2420TE or spend that money on the Oculus Rift? I currently have a cheap TN panel (LG E2711) and the lowest-end GPU I was considering was the eVGA GTX 780ti SC ACX. One option is to stick with my crap display and see how games etc. run with my new rig. If it's sufficiently good, I could just stick with it.

It's that kinda night where I like to think about the sweet possibility of up-and-coming tech. I'm really looking forward to the rift. Even if not the rift, head-mounted displays or HUD's (Glass) will have a prominence in our time. So what cool neat apps, possibilities, or pranks can you think of? It doesn't have to be limited to "Being beneficial", seriously, if people wore in public, I'd override their display with programming trickery, and use NFC to Hyper-link'em to lemonparty.com. A classic. Mini-scrolling Rss feed that is than can run during a movie, tilt down, opens the page. A First-Person view of Battle toads infamous "Turbo Tunnel" sent over NFC. "Hunger bar" that calculates your estimated "hunger" time after a couple of calibrations and input. Or course, you may need to re-calibrate after every thanksgiving. Chin-balls simulator, Don't stop suddenly or you'll hit your face. Amaterasu First person Yelp mode, preferably, indicate stores that matches internet prices. live update score of whatever game you subscribed it to. Sports i mean, E and ...not...e? Wind-shield wipers. Geordi la forge mode What would you guys wanna see?

In an interview with Eurogamer at GameCom, Oculus founder Palmer Luckey revealed that Android is in the company's future plans. Although this may not be their next platform , he states that their developers ahve been working with Android for a while and it's the only mobile platform they're interested in. With mobile graphics improving as fast as it is, it may not be too long until they'll be powerful enough to offer a good experience on Oculus. Interestingly enough, Luckey has expressed his interest in Android and yet they seem to have no interest in next gen consoles. This is possibly due to restrictions by Microsoft and Sony imposed on 3rd party devices which require the companies involved to work closely with Microsoft and Sony. On the other hand, Android's open nature grants them easier access to the platform. (Didn't find a thread about this, sorry if it's a repost) Basically, it's like an Omni. However it looks pretty awesome to me. Unlike the Omni, you can jump and crouch with the virtualizer which for me was crazy I don't know about the platform though, it's basically a low friction pad that you stand on; I like the one on the omni better, however you don't seem to need any special shoes for this one, anyways take a look for yourselves. http://www.cyberith.com/index.php?menu=virtualizer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0E6O_OUW8Xg

PlayStation has dev kit of the rift and could be that Sony might make a version were you can use it for PC and PS4.

Looking at the prototype you may think that this will be a colossal waste of time. However after some reading you may think differently. META.01 combines technology seen in devices such as Google Glass and combines it with the features that the Kinect sensor has to offer, with a tonne of features which are similar to Oculus Rift, however have added functionality. One feature that stood out to me was the 3D printing feature; the user was able to design an object using the device and then print the object for use, without the use of a computer or any wires, seamlessly. Another feature in the video was the gameplay section, where you are able to see a first person shooter game acted out as if you were the character, interacting with your surroundings and creating dynamic gameplay which could be very interesting if properly implemented. This somewhat reminded me of the VGHS game scenes in which the players would be acting out their actions in game, which could now be possible due to the META.01. Note: There is a very interesting video on Engadget's site, check it out. Oculus has revealed a few details surrounding the upcoming consumer version of its virtual reality headset. For a start, the specifications for the consumer version of the Oculus Rift have already been decided on and the team already has a price point in mind. Speaking with Eurogamer, Oculus founder, Palmer Luckey said: “We know what we’re making and now it’s a matter of making it. The consumer version is significantly improved, the jump from DK1 to DK2 is similar to the jump from DK2 to CD1, the consumer version.” The consumer version of the Oculus Rift will feature a “significant increase” in resolution and will have a 90Hz refresh rate. it’s possible that we could see it utilize a 4K screen- or a 1440p screen at the very least. Additionally, the final version will be smaller, lighter and much easer to set up compared to today’s development kits. As far as price goes, we could either see it release as low as $200 or as high as $400, according to the Oculus founder, it could “slide in either direction” depending on pre-orders, scale, final components and business arrangements. Where the hell is the consumer version? Consider that Oculus Rift DK2 (development kit two) has just been released and the consumer version is understandably not imminent. More than 20,000 DK2 units have been shipped and more than 60,000 units ordered. Oculus has its hands full fulfilling that. What about in 2015 - will we see the consumer version then? Like a well-oiled robot Luckey replies, "We don't have anything to announce at this time." Mitchell laughs. "Sorry," he says, "that's the toughest question - it's the one that pains me the most! Hey guys, quick question(s). How much do you think the 8GB 880GTX will cost? The rumor is the 4GB one will cost about 499. For the Quadro question, I was wondering how to get the performance and 10bit colour to work together (and hopefully across multi monitors) with the Geforce card. Is it possible? I'd want to start game development for the Rift by the end of the year and I'd like to have good colour accuracy and performance in some of those high end asset creation tools like Maya. Maybe if you guys know anything about game dev you could give me some tips that work in real life, not just advice for e-pen sakes.

So this is amazing ..... here is the link to their kickstater, https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/yeitechnology/priovr-suit-up-game-on?ref=discovery at the time i am posting this they have funded it already.... So what this is, is a full body suit with sensors on it that captures your movements and can input them into a game. This would be amazing with an Oculus Rift

Guise, I'm srs. Just imagine playing Star Citizen with Oculus rift an leap motion to be able to see your real hand movement inside the game when wearing the rift. The Guys at Oculus need to get their hands one some leap motion controlers ASAP. For you that already forgot what leap motion is, It's a relatively cheap motion controler which tracks and interprets your motions without any extra hardware besides the motion-tracking plate. It was a thing a few years ago in our comunity, but lack of good software support (read no games), and bad reception of OEM's generally (HP included it in some of its laptops AFAIK and that's about it) basically killed it off. https://www.leapmotion.com/ Now use your imagiantion, using a sim like EVE online, test drive unlimited, a tower defense game or whatever you feel like with the oculus rift in conjunction with leap motion. It would be immersive as hell.
