Turn on PC following day and the screen does not display anything regardless of mouse moving, powering the monitor on or off etc 4. Changed the cables multiple times. No change. 5. Press reset button on PC, now the monitor displays. Not sure what is causing it but the specs of the system are below. CPU: AMD FX 8320 GPU: Nvidia 1060 6GB RAM: 16GB ddr3 OS: Windows 10 pro

When I turn on my computer, it would sometimes be stuck at the motherboard splash screen and just stays there. Pressing any buttons like F2, Del, F11 doesn't work when it happens. But a reset (press reset button) always works and launch the PC into desktop. It's not a big problem but definitely an annoying one. I find myself switching on the PC, go get water and expect the PC to be ready in desktop but it's stuck on the mobo splash and requires a reset. So basically twice a day for the last two weeks something happens to my connection and i can only connect to Google based sites, the only thing that solves it is the line "netsh int ip reset" in the CMD, and restarting the PC. So my question is how can I solve this annoying issue?

I need to completely clear both drives and start fresh. Well want to. I want a clean wipe from all 3 of my drives, and for the OS to go onto a different one of the drives then what it is currently on. Will the the built in W10 reset provide this?

I would like to sell my laptop, and I did a factory reset on it to clear all of my data from it. First of all, should I do anything else to make sure the next user doesn't have any access to my data? Also, I upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 10 when using the laptop, and I don't think I ever wiped Windows 8 from the Hard drive. Will it have Windows 8 or Windows 10 when it's used next? I don't really want to go through the setup process and have to reset it again, but I would like to tell people the correct information. It's a Lenovo Y40 with a 1 terabyte Hard drive and a core i7. Thanks!

After an update Windows won't boot, repair or reset. It won't roll back to an older version or restore point. chkdsk returns no errors and sfc scannow returns 'recourse protection could not perform the requested operation'. I'm running Windows 10

Hey guys I came across what seems to be a first for me. I stream on Twitch and do some music creation on the side, so needless to say my 2tb SSHD gets filled up pretty quickly. It had been about six months since the last time I had reset my PC (I do it to keep everything running smooth, would love to know a more efficient way if anyone knows) and it was time to do it again. I go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10 and click on the "Download tool now" button, and begin the process. I select "Remove Everything" from "All my drives" and wait for Win10 to do it's thing knowing it will keep all my games and whatnot, just "uninstalling" them to the eyes of Steam, Origin, etc. Fast forward two days to current time and now, sporadically, I will get BSOD'd. The error code itself varies, but it always has something to do with the kernel. Every error code has the word "kernel" in it. Upon further investigation and googling, I was told to run a built in file system checker through the command prompt by typing in "sfc/scannow". Attached to this thread is a screenshot of the result from that process request and the log it provided. TLDR: Reset PC, now I get BSOD's. Can't figure out why, found out it may have to do with corrupt files but unsure. See attachments. Hi, so my mum has ran into an incident with her laptop in that she has forgotten her password. Her laptop is using a local account - not attached to any Microsoft account - and she is currently stuck on the log-in screen. She has tried answering the security questions but has failed the test and therefor cannot reset her password through this method. I tried getting her to reset her Hotmail password in an attempt to see if her laptop was a Microsoft account but that had not worked either. I have also tried creating a password reset disk for her but found out that reset disks are made for the storage device that the disk was made on, so no luck there either. She says she has files she would ideally like to keep on her laptop. Is there anything more I can do to reset a Windows 10 local account or is the only endgame to ultimately format the entire laptop and Thanos all her files along with it to let her use her laptop again?

Hello, I have a laptop with an SSD and HDD, the windows is installed on the SSD. I only want to format the SSD, and keep everyhting in the SSD, does reset option on the windows allows that, or can it be done on the disk management? Thank you.

BIOS Resets if PSU is switched on overnight prior to Boot
TopGunPC posted a topic in Troubleshooting
Hello all, I have been having an issue with my PC. It is my second build. I have safely overclocked the RAM on the motherboard to 3200MHz with the standard XMP setting. (1.35v) It starts fine, however I have found if I leave my PSU switched on for extended time, (overnight) my BIOS fully resets, including my RAM to the stock 2133MHz. My PSU is a 550w and my estiamted wattage on PCPartPicker is 374w. My CPU and GPU I have completely 'un-overclocked' to see if that was the issue and even changed the RAM OC to 3000MHz but to no avail. I realize it may not be the best practice to leave the PSU switched on overnight, but I don't think the BIOS should be reset if I do? OS: Windows 10 CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 Motherboard: ASRock B450 PRO4 RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz C16 GPU: Gigabyte Radeon RX 5700 XT Gaming OC 8G Case: Thermaltake Versa H17 Micro ATX Mini Tower Storage: Intel SSD 660p Series 1TB PSU: Rosewill ARC-550 550W Cooling: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo BIOS is 3.90, the latest version. Thank you! -
Okay, so I'm planning on selling an MSI laptop with Windows factory installed on 2 128GB NVMe drives in a Raid 0 configuration. Like any time you want to sell a pc or get rid of it, you want to erase all your data from the drives to prevent someone stealing something important. Can I just choose "Reset this PC" in Windows settings to erase all files (write to 0) while keeping the Windows 10 installation on Raid 0 intact? Or do i have to manually write all drives to 0 then fully reinstall Windows 10 on a newly configured Raid 0? I hope not because I have no experience configuring Raid and I don't have the Windows 10 key it came pre-installed with.

Well I was very proud to finally build my first PC. So I tried playing Fornite and Apex Legends. I did have it hooked up to my TV the first night playing around. Didnt seem to have any issues. I than turned on the OC and XMP as the ram was not at the 3600 rating. Its currently at 4.05 ghz and ram at the 3600. Now I have an on going issue that it randomly resets (I'll be playing it just restarts. There is no error when windows loads but I'm not sure how to resolve this.) Where should I start trouble shooting. I have installed MSI afterburner and trying to keep an eye on the tempuratures. (at idle GPU is at 29/30 right now) I checked to make sure all the PSU cables are connected to the mother board properly. I haven't noticed this happening when just using email or on the internet. Any advice as usual is appreciated. Cheers *just thought that the only thing that wasn't new was the GPU (amazon warehouse deal of a RX570 (8gb)

Guys I need help please. So yesterday as I was listening to some music suddenly my PC turned off and the GPU fans went crazy leaving me no other choice but to restart the PC. Then I decided to completely shut down my PC(you know to let it rest). So I decided to open it today and unfortunately it happened again(2 hours ago) so I restarted it again and so far its fine I guess. I reinstalled the Drivers but I don't know if that will fix the problem.Do you think that GPU(1060 3GB) is dying or its my PSU?I don't know what to do guys help I forgot to mention that the temperature is fine .RN the GPU is operating at 37-40 C and CPU at 35. Specs: GPU:Gtx 10603gb PSU:Corsair RMX 650 CPU:Amd Ryzen 7 1700

I have a Compaq PresarioCQ56 that I forgot the password for. When I try to open in safe mode there is no other account made and the command prompt doesn't open when I open in safe mode with the cmd prompt. All that does is mess with the resolution. I don't have a password reset disk and I am stuck. What do I do?

So I'm trying to sell this older Dell XPS Ultrabook and I go to restart the thing and it shows me a message telling me that I need 3.9 Trillion gigabytes in order to restart it...I'm not kidding. I don't even know where to begin to fix that because it's still running windows 7 and there's no other option to really wipe the hard drive and stuff so like, I'm pretty stuck. I'm not sure what to even try so I'm hoping someone here can help me figure it out.

Around about Monday last week, my computer abruptly began having an issue in which it would suddenly just crash and restart--no freezing, no blue screens, the monitor would simply abruptly go dark, linger on that screen for a second or two, and then I'd see the BIOS and Windows logos appear and my PC would start as normal, with all programs closed. At the time I had been using Windows 8.1. I didn't pay much mind to the issue at the time because I had been planning to completely wipe my PC, resetting it to factory default, and install Windows 10. However, even after doing so, the issue has persisted, apparently with no clear pattern or reason. I had days like yesterday, where it could only reset like this once or twice the entire day, and then days like today where it has happened around, if not more, than ten different times. I tried looking elsewhere for solutions, and nothing I found worked. Updating my drivers has done nothing, I checked my ram for errors, I played with all the power options, my PC is not overheating, I disabled automatic restart, etc.. When I checked Event Viewer, I thought I found the solution, as every abrupt reset appeared to be preceded by "Connected User Experiences and Telemetry Service" crashing in some way, which I then disabled after being assured that disabling, but not deleting, it would cause no ill effects. And, of course, this has done nothing. Now, when I experience a reset, this error appears in my log: "The description for Event ID 56 from source Application Popup cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event. The following information was included with the event: ACPI 5The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table." I spoke to a friend about the issue, who initially figured it to be a hardware issue, either with my motherboard, CPU, or PSU. (My CPU being an Intel Core 15-6600K and my motherboard being a Gigabyte G1.Sniper Z170-CF, if its at all helpful or relevant). When I mentioned Event ID 56, he suggested I come here for a more informed opinion. Edit: I also found Kernel-Power Event ID: 41 ("The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.") in the event viewer as well, if that says anything. And regarding that, I have set the "Turn off Hard Disk" setting to "Never", though I do not believe that to have been the cause, given the occasional frequency of these resets. At this point, I am unsure if I should seek to risk updating my BIOS or if I need to look into replacing hardware. Any help that could be provided would be immensely appreciated, thank you in advance.

Ryzen 7 3700X upgrade. I have just recently upgraded my PC from Ryzen 7 1800X to the Ryzen 7 3700X. All seemed to be going well except that it was not finding my DDR 4 3200 memory. I can use DOCP and finds my 3200 memory and will run at that speed. However, the Bios still shows 2133 on dimm slots A2 & B2 on main page. Not sure if this is common. I tried 3 different kinds of 3200 memory with the same results. Unit posted and loaded windows when I installed my Samsung 970 eve plus boot drive. Now, sometimes, when I boot the computer it hangs at the yellow board LED. Everything lights up and runs as thought it is going to post properly but stops at yellow LED. Pressing the reset button on the case (sometimes multiple times) the unit then restarts the post process beeps once and works its way through the remaining 3 LED lights and boots into windows. There are no error messages and the computer works fine. The next time I reboot the computer is may post fine or I'll have to do the reset thing. I have tried all the trouble shooting steps mentioned on various posts on this forum. Have been in contact with Gskill tech support and ASUS tech support and still have not found a solution. The computer is RUNNING a Ryzen 7 3700X on an Asus Prime X570 Pro board. BIOS 1405. Ram DDR4-3200 8GBX2 G.Skill Trident Z RGB 2X8 F4-3200C16D-16GTZR. EVGA GTX 970 GPU; CORSAIR H100i RGB PLATINUM SE 240 RGB LIQUID COOLER AIO; CORSAIR RM850x PSU In a Cooler Master Storm Scout 2 case. COULD SOMEONE PLEASE HELP?

Hi guys I just recently upgraded my PC with new parts (i5 9600k, RTX 2070 super, 16GB DDR4 RAM and gigabyte z370p d3 motherboard. However after playing games (forza 4, battlefield 1, witcher 3) for a varied amount of time the game will crash and so will the computer itself which requires me to turn it off and on. However the game runs perfectly fine. The PC boots fine, all the fans spin, the temperature for the i5 sits at around 28 Degrees idle to around 45 Degrees underload and the GPU sits at 30 degrees idle to at max 68 degrees under load. Ive made sure windows is at the most recent update, the geforce drivers have been uninstalled and installed again and all the drivers from the motherboard disk have been installed. Im confused on what it could be? Perhaps my HDD, its almost 6 years old now and this is where my games are stored so that might be the issue? Or the PSU its also almost 6 years old now. (Corsair 750M) Any help is greatly appreciated!

My friend just built a new computer. Her mobo is an ASUS ROG Strix Z390-E Gaming and each time she reboots, her BIOS settings reset to factory defaults. Changes such as DRAM frequency, Aura lighting changes, onboard CPU overclocks are resetting to their default values. Is this something a CMOS battery replacement could solve or would it require an RMA? We'd prefer to do the prior to avoid tearing apart her newly built PC. Any other ideas and suggestions are most welcome. Here is a list of her parts if it helps. CPU: i7-9700k RAM: 16GB (8x2) 3200MHz Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro GPU: MSI 1660Ti (not sure what model though I doubt it makes a diff) Storage and Boot Drive: Samsung 860 EVO 1TB PSU: Corsair CX750M

I’ve been trying to reset my computer to factory default because I’am unable to download a Windows update, however my PC isn’t even letting me reset, I’ve tried a few different ways and it just keeps saying there was an error and nothing changed.

Hi I have been trying to reset my Windows back to factory settings. During the process, it was working pretty well and now for the past 30 minutes it's been stuck at 32%. Is there anything I can do to help this problem? Or can I restart my computer and do this some other way? Thanks, sailboatking

So I have a ZyXEL router, and I was trying to setup port forwarding rules. The problem is, everytime the device with specified IP address is turned off or disconnected, the router deletes the port forwarding rule for this device. The rules are working just fine, until the device is disconnected. Is there anyone that has an experience in this sort of thing?
