Hi guys, i bought a Sapphire R9 390 Nitro (1040mhz version) two days ago. Today i noticed that it makes a weird buzzing sound when under load, either in games or when running the Unigine Heaven benchmark. It's not coil whine but it's annoying asf. Running the card on a Gigabyte B150M-D3H, i5-6500 and an XFX TS 750W Gold series PSU. I tried swapping the PCI-E Power plugs and reseating the card, unfortunately, with no luck. How can i fix this?

Hey guys, So Right now I have a r9 390. I've looked at the benchmarks on all of these cards. I want to upgrade my graphics, I'm more or less happy with it. but I recently upgraded my cpu like crazy. and my I've noticed that my Graphics card is taking a lot of hits. So I have some options: Second r9 390? two 970's or (mayyyyyyyyyyyyyybe I can afford two 980 ti's) or maybe one 1080, or two rx 480's. I don't have a preference between team red or green. So, What do y'all think?

Basically wanting some people who know more than I do to give my build a once over. This is my first build and I'm still attempting to learn the ways of a PC builder. I generally play CSGO, BF4, Shadow of Mordor and other, lighter games. I don't plan on overclocking. Trying to keep cost around $900. Any suggestions/help/tips are appreciated! I'm also looking into picking up a 144Hz monitor, either off of Amazon or Craiglist PCPartPicker link: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/vZzGGf :----|:----|:---- **CPU** | [Intel Core i5-6500 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor] | $199.99 @ B&H **Motherboard** | [ASRock H170 Pro4 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard] | $98.99 @ SuperBiiz **Memory** | [Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2133 Memory] | $39.89 @ OutletPC **Storage** | [Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive] | $48.89 @ OutletPC **Video Card** | [MSI Radeon R9 390 8GB Video Card] | $254.99 @ Newegg **Case** | [Fractal Design Define R4 (Black Pearl) ATX Mid Tower Case] | $109.88 @ OutletPC **Power Supply** | [EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply]| $77.99 @ SuperBiiz **Operating System** | [Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit] | $83.89 @ OutletPC | Total (before mail-in rebates) | $944.51 | Mail-in rebates | -$30.00 | **Total** | **$914.51** | Generated by [PCPartPicker](http://pcpartpicker.com) 2016-07-14 02:51 EDT-0400 |

I just upgraded from the R9 270 to the R9 390. Anyone that saw the video about the 270 knows that when overclocking it, you can just crank all the sliders all the way up, and enjoy! Which, by the way, I did, and it worked beautifully. Now, I'm not so sure what to do. I don't want to destroy my shiny new 390 by sliding everything up all the way, and end up with a big piece of toast with fans...but at the same time, those global overclock settings are calling my name, and I must heed their call!!! Any other 390 owners here that have overclocked their card? How far were you able to safely push it? Any advice will be welcome. (Aside from troll advice, obviously. >_> )

I'm looking for any advice on my planned build. I have a budget of around £1200 and I live in England. I shall be using the system for mainly gaming with stuff like: Shadow of Mordor, Arma 3, Witcher 3, Far Cry Primal, Tom Clancys The Division. I will also be using it for web browsing and some CAD use but not a lot. I will be running only one monitor, and would like to be running the hard to run game (Shadow of Mordor) as close to 60fps on high/ ultra () or medium (). Parts (Already Purchased): CPU: Intel i5 6600K @4.4GHz (Already Purchased) CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i GTX (Already Purchased) Motherboard: Asus Z170-K ATX LGA1151 (Already Purchased) RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 8gb (2x4gb) (Already Purchased) I got these from scan.co.uk in a bundle OS: Windows 10 (Already Purchased) Parts (I'm planning on getting): Storage: Samsung 850 EVO 250gb M.2-2280 SSD (Is this a good choice?) GPU: Sapphire Radeon R9 390 8gb Nitro (I chose this over the GTX 970 as i shall not be overclocking) Case: Phanteks Eclipse P400S ATX Mid Tower (2nd choice - Corsair Spec Alpha when it comes out) PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA G2 550W 80+ Gold fully modular Monitor: Asus VE247H 23.6" (This will be brought later so will not be included in budget) Mouse: Logitech G302 Keyboard: Redragon USAS K553 Gaming Mechanical Keyboard I will be upgrading in the future. To start with I will be doubling the RAM with another kit. After this I might be getting another GPU but will probably be pointless so might not as well. Storage will DEFIANTLY be increase with either a couple TB HDD (WD Black) or a few 500gb ish SSD's Any advice on my parts/ changes that I should make to this would be much appreciated.

So i just got my xfx R9 390 to replace my GTX 750Ti. I am unsure if i should use just the 390 alone and get PCIe 16x speeds, or have the 750Ti in and use it as a physx card by ''hybridizing'' the cards (video on hybrid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXQ5pI7DZoQ ). But if i have 2 cards on my mobo i can only have PCIe 8x on both. so my question is: Will a PCIe 8x connection in any way bottleneck the R9 390? NB!: My mobo only supports PCIe 2. gen, so no 3.0 speeds, i have heard that a 8x-2.0 is like a 4x-3.0.

Hey peeps. I recently upgraded from my old Radeon HD 5870 to a Sapphire Nitro R9 390, and i keep gettings blue screens when my PC stands idle for a couple of minutes. My complete specs are: MoBo: ASRock Z170 Gaming K6 CPU: i5 6600k @ 4.5GHz RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 x 16GB GPU: Sappire Nitro R9 390 at 1144MHz SSD: 250GB Samsung 850 Evo PSU: Corsair CX Series 750M The bsod happens just the same with no overclock, as i overclocked after noticing the issue, to see if it'd change anything. As i said, the blue screens only happens when i'm idling, completely idling; When i'm surfing the web, gaming, benchmarking or stresstesting, it all runs flawlessly. It's also fine if i just leave a youtube playlist or something running. The issue arose after the graphics card upgrade, so i'm obviously thinking that it's the culprit, but it just seems odd to me that i can play demanding games for hours on end without issues, if it's a bad card. So far i've tried: Disabling the power management in windows. Completely uninstalling graphics drivers and re-installing, non-beta drivers. Ran sfc /Scannow, which did find errors that it said it has corrected, but the issue persists. Done windows update. So i turn to you, denizens of the LTT forum; What have i missed?

Hi, i would like to know if my EVGA 600W PSU (3 months of use with an R9 280) could handle an R9 390 GPU. I have an AMD FX 6300 with no overclock, no accesory fans and just a 1Tb HDD. And also if you recomend a gtx 970 over the R9 390. Thanks in advance for your answers.

So I'm working on a new PC build and I have been planning the entire time to use a GTX 970 GPU in this build. However I was looking at monitors and noticed that the G-Sync monitors are much more expensive than the FreeSync monitors. Would I be better off going with an R9 390 and a FreeSync monitor to save on cost? Or would I still benefit from having a GTX 970 and just a regular monitor without the G-Sync. (In my mind it would be best to get a monitor with Freesync or G-sync but maybe I'm off on that point as well) Monitor I was looking at to pair with the GTX 970 is the Asus VG248QE 144Hz 24.0" Monitor and I don't have any specific monitor in mind for the R9 390 because I just recently started looking more into it. My Build is listed below: Processor - Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor Motherboard - MSI Z170A GAMING M5 PSU - EVGA SuperNOVA 750 Ram - G.Skill Ripjaws V Series - DDR4 3200 - 16gb SSD - Samsung 250g 850Evo and WD 2TB Black Series GPU - ... awaiting your words of wisdom

Hey simple question does this 550W 80 Gold Plus seasonic PSU http://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/page/6/550-Watt-Seasonic-G-Series-Modular-80--Gold_812464.html#reviews fit a xeon e3 1231 v3 plus a r9 390. The enermax PSU calculator says 480 watts max for my system... Is that ok?

Hello i would like to know if the 390x is worth the extra money compared to the regular 390. The difference is about 60€ for these two models. (sorry, links are in german) http://geizhals.at/sapphire-radeon-r9-390-nitro-backplate-11244-01-20g-a1326323.html http://geizhals.at/sapphire-radeon-r9-390x-nitro-11241-04-20g-a1355667.html How big is the difference performancewise when i plan to play in 1440p? can i even reach steady 144fps with any of those cards on games like Battlefield 3,4? Can i reach steady 60fps on fallout 4 with medium/high settings?

Hi guys! Sorry in advance for eventually misspellings, english isn't my mother language. About a month ago I bought my first gaming-computer with an 'Sapphire Radeon R9 390 Nitro 8GB Tri-X OC Lite'. First time I started the computer I noticed that videos and gifs on Facebook, 9GAG etc are all messed up for the first couple of seconds. Sometimes the gifs have to ''reload'' before I can see them, and sometimes there is no problem at all but the majority of the time it is. I'm not really sure what the problem is called or how to describe it but I'll give it a try. It's black and spiky, covers the entire videos and gifs. It's like the colors is broken, I can see something moving but barerly. Mostly it's for about 2-3 seconds but sometimes longer, never more than 10 seconds on videos though. It requires a scene change or a hard movement for the video/gif to ''load'' properly. You might think ''It's just for a couple of seconds, what's the nutbreaker?'' So did I for awhile, but now it's driving me slowly to insane. Does anybody know how to fix this problem? Adding a picture of my set-up if necessary. (Oh, and Linus, give us part 2 of World's Most Comforting Set-up please. :D) Sincerely Kevin

Hello everyone, My PC: GPU: R9 390 GIGABYTE GAMING G1 CPU: FX-8350 MOBO: ASROCK 970 EXTREME 4 RAM: 8BG (1333 MHZ) (4 MODULES 2GB) PSU: COOLERMASTER G650M 80+ BRONZE CASE: CORSAIR GRAPHITE 230T CPU COOLER: COOLERMASTER HYPER 212 EVO I am getting FPS drops while playing games such as Witcher 3, Metal Gear Solid V, World of Warcraft and even Hearthstone. To be more precise, I play around 60-70 FPS then it drops to 40 FPS, 20 FPS and then goes back up to 60 FPS. This happens all the time and while I set the video settings in Medium and Low the problem remains the same. I have updated to the latest drivers for my GPU (also I uninstalled any previous drivers via DDU) and the Temperatures are not that high especially when I set the Frame-Rate around 60 FPS ( Max Temps: GPU 75 Degrees Celsius and CPU 55 Degrees Celsius). I need every help I can get. Thank you in advance.

Are there any GPU plates for the MSI r9 390, the red color doesn't go well with my build and I was wondering if there are any white plates?

Hello all. For the past several months I've been getting annoying texture flickering in many of my PC games. The flickering mostly occurs on certain spots of walls and terrain, and it is very noticeable when I move the camera in games. I have an MSI R9 390 and I noticed that the flickering started happening shortly after AMD launched their crimson drivers, I never noticed it on their catalyst drivers. The flickering occurs in many of the games I've been playing including Deus Ex: HR, Doom 3 BFG, Dragon Age Origins, and Quake 4. I haven't noticed the flickering in more demanding games like Doom (2016) or Dragon Age Inquisition as of yet. I've tried completely uninstalling the video card drivers with DDU, running games in compatibility mode/admin, verifying game cache, refresh steam files, defrag/optimize my SSD and HDD, fiddling with settings in AMD's drivers but to no avail. I should mention that I did overclock my i7 3770k to 4.5 GHz, but I believe the flickering started occurring before the overclock and I did stress test my CPU with OCCT, RealBench, and Metro 2033/Last Light for many hours and did not get any crash whatsoever. If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it, because this has been bothering me for the past several months. I will be getting a new Nvidia GPU soon (gtx 1080 or 1070), and I really hope that I don't experience these issues on Nvidia's part as well. Specs: OS: Windows 10 64bit GPU: MSI R9 390 CPU: i7 3770k @4.5 GHz CPU Cooling: Noctua NH D15 RAM: 16gb @1600MHz Corsair Vengeance LP PSU: 1250w OCZ 80 plus gold SSD: 250gb Samsung 840 (boot drive) HDD: 2TB Seagate Barracuda

Hey everyone, I have an issue with my Sapphire Nitro R9 390. When I restart my PC and open up a game (literally anything from ArmA 3 to Stellaris, hell, even Minecraft) I will have an extremely bad stutter. This doesn't happen every time (about 75%) and the only fix is to reinstall my drivers (latest). As a former 290 owner, I have seen thermal throttling; this is not that but much more extreme. I have reinstalled my OS (Windows 10) to the point where it is now a holy virgin, yet is has not helped. I have also increased the power limit to maximum but it does not fix it. Core and memory clocks seem to make no difference whether they are stock or OC. If you have any help or suggestions I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance

Hi! I am in the process of building a new gaming rig after a long pause from pc gaming. 1. Budget & Location Around US $1050 (9000sek, I live in Sweden) 2. Aim I want to be able to run titles like The Witcher 3, Batman: Arkham Knight and Far Cry Primal on high/ultra settings with at least 60fps average. I will probably OC. 3. Monitors/Peripherals I already own a monitor (1080p) and peripherals so it won't be included. Current Config: (List of components and the prices available here in Sweden.) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-GAMING 3 CPU: Intel i5-6600k CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo Motherboard, CPU, and CPU Cooler can be bought as a bundle - $399 RAM: Crucial 2x8GB DDR4 2400MHz Ballistix Sport - $77 GPU: Sapphire Radeon R9 390 Nitro 8GB - $304 PSU: Cooler Master V 750W - $106 SSD: Samsung 750 EVO Series 120GB - $64 HDD: WD Blue WD10EZEX 64MB 1TB 7200RPM - $64 Case: Antec GX500 - $59 Total: $1073 I would like your feedback regarding the components I have in mind for the moment. Do you see any components that should be switched out? Are there any cost effective alternatives? I had some concerns regarding what PSU I should choose seeing as I would like to overclock my cpu and gpu. Is it overkill? The r9 390 seems to have a high power consumption from what I've read. Greetings from Sweden!

I will be watercooling my video cards. As per the title, they are both R9 390s. For waterblocks, EKWB's configurator lists 2 options for my particular part number: with the new inductors, and without. There are a plethora of great pictures available for identifying which is which, but all of them have the stock cooler off in these pics. Is there any way to identify them without removing the stock cooler, or am I SOL, and need to open them up? I would rather not open them up, as I will be using them right up to the last moment before I swap over from air to liquid.

Hi so since i cant decide on which... i found a sapphire nitro r9 390 on craigslist for $200 but i also see AMD has released their new RX 480 for $240 and i cant decide which is better. I dont care about power consumption or anything but if i were to overclock the r9 390 would i get the same performance as the RX 480. Thank you.

Hi everybody, I've done a great deal of research on this topic, but since I had the chance to test it by myself in the past few days, I thought I would share my adventure, considering that I found a lot of information on the internet which turned out to be false (surprise right?). Anyway, recently I got my hand on an ASUS PB287Q. The 4K experience was great for games, although my rig could not handle it very well with only one R9 390. Of course, that was not a surprise, but it was worth a try, just to see that beautiful 4k godness. Thus, I tried to run my games (Witcher 3, Dark Souls 3, League of Legends) in 1080p, thinking that it would look excatly like my old 1080p monitor since we have one 1080p pixel for four 4k pixels. I've read that a lot on the internet, and it seemed logical, plus I found this post on linustechtips : But, no matter what I tried, everything looked blocky and blurry, plus the colors were kinda darker and not well balanced. It wasn't that bad, but it wasn't as good as a native 1080p monitor. Some of you might think that it was simply and effect created by the fact that I had just looked at my games in 4K, and I give you that, but to test a little bit more, I asked a good friend of mine to come over. We took pictures, removed scaling, increased scaling, changed settings like bightness and contrast, etc. His conclusions were the same : 1080p on a 4k monitor had flaws, as would 720p on a 1080p or any other resolution. The blockyness could be « fixed » by sitting further away, but it came with downsides too (impractical access to keyboard since my deks is small, for example). Dark colors were still off, and it was still blurry. Of course, it might just be a matter of personal taste, Rodion.zissou from the post I linked seemed to think it was fine! But for me, it didn't do it. Mind you, it is playable, but not as good as a native 1080p. Also, I was surprised to observe that many programs didn't support 4K very well. Browsing was ok, but many applications were blurry because of the scaling (Steam, Itunes) and other simply couldn't scale (Pycharm community edition). About League of Legends, it was playable in 4k and very sharp plus the FPS was not a problem, but the HUD didn't scale! The minimap elements were so small I couldn't distinguish characters! Anyway, all this being said, if you have questions or any test suggestions, feel free! The only thing is, I'm returning the monitor, so be fast!
