Hi, im planing a new build and im facing a dilemma. where i live GTX 970s cost around 430 USD (43,000 Pakistani) brand new while a used r9 290 is costing me 320 USD USED. so the only place i can cheap out in my build is the SSD, a used 120 SSD will cost me around 40USD while a new 256GB will cost me 105USD. so will it be worth it in the long run to get a gtx 970?

Hey guys I reinstalled windows because I was upgrading to a bigger SSD and Now I am noticing horrible performance out of my R9 290. I first noticed playing League of Legends I was only getting about 80 fps max where before I capped it at 120. I ran a Valley benchmark and below is my score: I have installed Drivers from the CD as well as online and I have had no luck. Any thoughts on what it might be? Solved! The issue I was having was that on my Mobo there is a Slow_mode Switch that I must have hit when installing the SSD

Ever since buying and building my custom pc i have had constant problems with the gpu drivers when playing games, even simple games such as minecraft My specs are: i5-4690k asus r9 290(non x) (current driver: 14.501.1003.0) z87-g43 msi motherboard 8gb (2x4) ram 1tb storage corsair 600m Nothing is overheating. I have tested the ram with memtest and found no problems. i have under clocked the gpu and that didn't work.I have sent of my gpu for testing and they found nothing wrong with it. I have updated, removed, reinstalled drivers and that did not fix the problem. My guess is that the power supply isn't enough or the pci-e slot is faulty? Anyone have any ideas on why this is happening and how i can fix it

Hello. I have the following build: CPU: Intel Core i3 4150 Motherboard: Gigabyte H97M-D3H Memory: Corsair XMS3 8GB (2 x 4GB) Video Card: PowerColor PCS+ R9 290 (about to arrive but not installed in my system yet) Storage: Crucial BX100 250GB SSD, Wester Digital Caviar Green 2TB HDD Case: NZXT S340 Power Supply: EVGA 600W 80+ Bronze B1 PSU Wanted to know if I could game @1440p with my PC. I am probably going to upgrade to a Broadwell K i5 later but can the i3 handle the extra pixels? I know for sure my GPU can but I am still woried about this bottleneck. I do not want to run every game at Ultra details 60+ fps but I would be hoping maybe High settings 60fps avg. Is this a realistic hope or is it just not going to happen? Thanks. Also do you know if those 1440P korean monitors are good?

Hi I consider myself to have put together a pretty decent system, But i find myself while gaming noticing that i dont have a steady fps. I am running 2x Powercolor PCS+ R9 290's in crossfire, Stock Fx8320 3.5ghz, 2x AMD R Series Gaming Ram at 1866, 2x CCL Choice Ram at 1333 (higher modules will down clock to match cheaper sticks). Ocz Vertex 120 gb ssd. And various other 1tb hard drives. 75hz Aoc 1080p Monitor. With this setup i would have assumed a steady 60 on battlefield 4, but no its jumping all over the place, Just got GTA 5 fps indoors is 70 - 90, outside while not driving is 50 - 60 fluctuating,While driving drops as low as 30. Does this with other supposed high end games aswell, i thought with the crossfire i would have had a significant boost. Have i done something wrong in my setup, i need some help please. I would like to just maintain Steady frame rates.

Hey guys. After playing GTA V for all of about 10 minutes, my GPU (AMD R9 290 Reference) gets stupidly loud. I've had my card now for well over a year and I think it's time I upgraded to water cooling for quieter operations. The only problem is, I have never water cooled before so I have no idea what I am looking for. While searching around, I noticed Corsair did a Hydro Series attachment for AMD R9 290 reference cards which is the Corsair Hydro Series HG10 A1 Edition GPU. I'm not planning on water cooling my CPU as it runs within decent temps and the stock cooler is rather quiet. So now this lands me with two questions. 1. Is this a good route to take? If so, which cooler should I get to use with this attachment? 2. If not, what are my other options?

Hey guys, My current GPU is an EVGA GTX 770 SC 2gb. I saw a guy selling a Gigabyte Windforce R9 290 for 200 bucks (CAD so like 150 USD). Is the upgrade worth it? I feel like I'd be able to sell my current card for the same amount and at the very least I'd be gaining 2 gb of VRAM. I game at 1080p but with more and more memory hog titles this would be able to hold me at least another year. What do you guys think? My main concern is losing support for PhysX, HBAO+ and other Nvidia tech. Should this even be a concern though?

So I currently have this build: My Computer: Cpu: AMD Fx-8350 (4.2GHz) Gpu: Radeon R9 290 (1085 mhz core 1300 mem)Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-990FXA Ram: G-Skill 16 GB Monitor: 2x Acer 21.5" Widescreen LCD Peripherals: ---Headset: Turtle Beach X60's ---Eye-wear: Gunnar MLG Phantoms ---Mouse: MadCatz R.A.T. 7 ---Keyboard: Razer Black Widow Ultimate Mechanical and i am planning to add this monitor to the middle of the setup: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824160253&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID= (if you know of a better 2K monitor please tell me) and so the question is would throwing in another 290 cause too much heat problems? Under load currently i sit around 65-70C and i have the sapphire Tri-X OC card. Does anyone own 2 of these? or know someone who does? i cant find info anywhere about what temps i would see and such. Thanks for the help in advance!

Well, It`s been a while since the pc release of gta v, I was overjoyed of course. There were some problems, some I could tolerate, some that were annoying. The one (and biggest) issue for me that still remain since release is the driving. For some reason gta goes bat shit insane (drop of fps, and major stuttering) when i drive at high speeds, this problem occur in both Singleplayer and Multiplayer. I don`t know if I`m the only one having this issue, but if someone has/have had this issue i would love some insight and tips to help / fix this. Setup: i5 2500k @4.8Ghz r9 290 crossfire Corsair Vengeance 16gb 1600Mhz thanks in advance for any help or tips.

I want to upgrade to the R9 290 but I don't know if my current PSU can handle one. I have a year old CM g650m, Reccommended psu for R9 290 is 750w but most say that if you have a good psu then it can be lower. Does a 80+ bronze psu from CM fit in that category? I really do not want my pc to catch fire. eXtreme PSU Calc gives me reccommended as 517w and 610w with 20% aging. But I guess the power draw differs from sapphire tri-x to refrence. So I need help from a experienced person. It will be accompanied by an 8350, 2 HDD, 1 SSD, 4x ddr3 and 5 fans.

Hi, I had the mains in my house redone today, they where quite sloppy doing so, They killed the fridge by pumping 380v into the 220 line, and I'm worried my pc bit the dust as well : Every time I startup the pc, the "amd display driver" crashes, and recovers. After recovery the card is pinned at 100% usage, and that makes it noisy and makes games ( and especially alt+tab's ) run slower. CS:GO now takes 10+ seconds to alt + tab whereas before it took 1 maybe 2. The worst part is I'm supposed to sell this card monday, but I don't want to send a broken card to the guy . EDIT: PSU seems to be dead, gpu, mobo and cpu are fine.

Problems such as: computer rebooting constantly driver crashing freezing etc Edit: If so, you should purchase a motherboard with a different chipset and see if it's any different. I believe the reason you're having this problem is because of your motherboard.

Hello, I recently around xmass sold my 290 crossfire for a 750 ti as I was struggling financially, and now I'm back to having cash to spend. My current monitor is a 1080p 120hz, but I would like to upgrade to 1440p 144hz ( asus mg279q ). Now, I have about 1000€ on hand for all of this, and I have been proposed the following from a guy : R9 290 watercooled crossfire with ek blocks for 410€ Now, if I sell my 750ti, I will have enought for the monitor and card's, but I don't have a watercooling loop ( only a H220 expandable kit ) and adding a rad+ fittings would be ~100€ . Or I can sell the cards, but will I profit from it ? What would you do ? : 1)Buy the cards and the monitor ? 2)Spend the ~500€ on a future fury card ? 3)Buy them and resell them ?

Hello, I'm the the process of upgrading from my 7970ghz, and now I'm faced with a dilemma : I have the option for refurbished gpu's for really cheap with a very good 6 month no questions warranty: The cards are either : Single R9 290 from MSI 223€ Single R9 290x from ASUS 260€ or 310€ ( depending on if I take the model with or with out the box ) Two R9 290 from MSI 447€ Two R9 290x from ASUS 570€ Now my problem is, that the single R9 290x asus would be a great value, at 260€, but a bunch of reviews contradict each other; this is either a sign of a change in the gpu cooler or a different way of testing; some say it's quiet at stock and runs at ~78°c, other say it reaches 95°C and is horrible, I have seen the pics of the GPU cooler "taken off the nvidia cards", and that seems to be the one that runs at 95°c, but is there a second version ? Is the MSI cooler better or worse than the asus ? EDIT: I am told there is a R9 290 windforce that is yet to be listed for 226€; but the windforce seems to be noisier and uglyer than the MSI and ASUS I also saw a MSI R9 390x for 360€

Hi, I installed OSX on my PC a few months ago to find out my R9 295X2 was not supported so OSX displays in a really low resolution. I have since found this video which shows the R9 290/X working in OSX. I was wondering if there would be a way to make the R9 295X2 work with OSX even if it was just one of the GPUs so that I could use OSX in my native resolution (3440x1440). I personally prefer OSX to Windows so please don't tell me just to stick to Windows because I use both. I use Windows for gaming and programmes not supported for OSX. All of my PC's components are officially compatible with OSX apart from my GPU, so I was wondering if anyone could help me to get it working properly. This is the video which shows the R9 290/X operating in OSX Yosemite PC Spec: i7 4930k @4.5Ghz 8GB Ripjaws Z Ram R9 295X2 850w coolermaster v850 PSU Asus X79 Deluxe Motherboard

Hey i'm buying a graphics card and i'm not sure at all. Build: CPU: AMD FX-6300 MB: AsRock 970M Pro3 Ram: 8gb Kingson HyperX 1600 MHz Screen 1080p 60Hz I was planning on buying a r9 380 which in Denmark retails for 278 USD. But looking on http://www.game-debate.com i found that it for some games (such as the Witcher 3 and Assassins Creed) is less powerful than what is required, (and in the case of Assassins Creed right on the edge of recomended). So this is when i thought, maybe i need a 390 which retails for 395 USD. Or maybe the 290 which retails for 337 USD. Generally i don't play games that require much graphics performance, CS:GO, Minecraft etc. That is not to say that i don't/won't play more demanding games. What i really don't want is to go out and spend 278 Dollars on a graphics card and feel like i bought old out performed piece of junk that can't play the new titles that are coming out now, and makes titles to come unplayable. What i really want to know is whether or not i should spend the extra 110 dollars on the 390? If the 290 is better suited for me, or if it's too old? If i can play new titles with the 380? and if none of this matters because i'll be bottlenecked in my CPU because it's an AMD, and therefore i should go out an but a GeForce 210, and be happy with it? I hope someone can help me!

I was wondering if my HD 7870 would be able to run games like Tomb Raider on the lowest graphics settings in 1440p. If not, what card would you say is the absolute minimum to be able to play said game on lowest settings with about 30 fps? Also, is my A8-6600K APU going to hold back a R9 290 very much?
