Hey, Turning to the allmighty LTTforum to assist me in a difficult choice... Currently looking into buying a smartwatch. And after some research, im down to two devices, a Moto360 or a Pebble Steel. Now im curious if anyone has any experience with these devices. Is it worth sacrificing the excellent batterylife of the Pebble for the extended functionality of the Moto360? They're priced pretty much the same here in Sweden. Kind Regards Bingbear

Source:http://9to5mac.com/2015/02/19/pebble-teases-new-model-sources-say-thinner-watch-with-color-screen-in-the-works/ Note: This news isn't 100% confirmed. Keep this fact in mind. I personally see this as good news. As an owner of the original pebble that received said watch merely 2 months ago, I don't think I'm quite ready to upgrade. While these changes are welcome, I worry about the potential increase in price. I guess I'll be keeping watch tell Tuesday.

Just wondering how cheap I can get a Pebble Steel in Australia. Also considering getting a normal one if the steel is too pricey.

Hej! I have been wanting to get a smart watch for a while now. I've looked at them and they are all too expensive or crap for me with the exception of a pebble. It ticks all the right boxes in my opinion and is what a smart watch should be. A friend got the Pebble Steel for Christmas and he loves it. I've had a play and I am going to buy a pebble watch. However, the issue lies on which one I should buy. I have looked at prices for new and used and it seems the Steel will cost me twice as much. What does the steel have which the other doesn't and is the steel really worth the double price? Thank you in advance!

Hey I want to buy a smart watch under $250 and I've taken a liking to the OG Pebble Steel, would it still be worth getting that specific watch today or would it be too weak in terms of hardware to compete with the Pebble Time Steel, (I hate Plastic and Leather Bands) or Android Wear Watches? Suggestions are welcome but I don't want to go at most over 300 USD and I would prefer a full metal band as well as the metal body. Thank You!

Get more info at a glance...in color! At its heart, Pebble Time is an awesome watch. The new color e-paper display is easy to read and always-on, perfect for displaying incoming notifications and your favorite watchface. Compared with display technology like LCD or OLED, power consumption is minimized, enabling Pebble Time to achieve an industry-leading battery life of up to 7 days. Source

Pebble Time Review Couple of weeks ago I received my Pebble time. While the shipping process was relatively painless it how ever was not cheap. To give context this is my first smartwatch that I have ever used. None of the other smartwatches in the market didn't really excite me because all of them lacked in one major aspect. either its the battery life or performance or design. For me the most important thing a smartwatch should excel at is delivering the notifications and messages from my phone to my wrist. And just like the original pebble and the pebble steel, pebble time does this extraordinarily. Just having the option to glance at a notification and deciding to dismiss it or react to it on the watch itself or to pull out the phone is such a paradigm shift that I never thought I would enjoy that much. Speaking of watches, how good is it at showing the time?. If you never connected the pebble time to a phone and just have it on your wrist it would function admirably as a regular watch. With the pebble times color E-paper display you can always see the time without having to do any flicking motion or pressing buttons. Where most other smartwatch screens fail when there is an abundance of ambient light, Pebble time screen shines during the day time. Literally. The light reflects off of the E-paper display and shows you the information. but not to worry there is a backlight that comes on when you press any button that can also be set to turn on with motion. although I have that feature turned off. While the screen is very good at displaying what ever its supposed to, How good it looks is somewhat debatable. Here is what i think.because of its low contrast and probably low refresh rate it's not good for displaying pictures or watching videos. That is certain. But for what the color e-paper display is used, I think it's perfect for this use case. Where most people would knock some points off for a lackluster display I applaude Pebble for making a conscious decision to go with a E-paper display rather than a OLED hence not compromising on one of the best things about this smart watch. its battery life. Since I have been using the Pebble time I have realised that it has been designed from the ground up to be the best in class when it comes to its fuel economy. Technical specs aside Pebble Time lasts for just over seven days for me. I’m not the person that gets hundreds of notifications a day, but from my experiance with it I can tell that it should last for at least four days for the most heavy user. That is double the time that you can get from a android wear smartwatch at best. That’s impressive. So what can you do with seven days for battery life on the Pebble time? Time smartwatch sports the latest operating system that uses the all new “Timeline UI”. Essentially it will show you agenda in three categories namely Past activities, Present, and Future. Using the Up and Down you can see the past and Future respectively. For me calendar appointments showed up on the timeline and that was all I needed. Im sure there are many more apps you can get that hooks in to this function. When a notification or a text message is received to the pebble time, you are greeted with the usual set of options to interact with it. For example it gives you the option to reply to a text message with a preset message or with voice. which i will talk about soon. For IMs like Facebook messenger you also get to “LIKE” that message. Oh and it can also reply with emojis as well. This also brings up a gripe that i have with the notification system on both the pebble side and android in general. there is no way to get back to notifications that you have dismissed. Also once a notification is dismissed on the phone the pebble time has no way of knowing that it has happened so it continues to display it and gives the user to interact with it that eventually leads to a fail. I wish someone would find the solution for this already. As I mentioned earlier pebble time has a built in mic that allows you to dictate replies for text and IMs. If you have ever used s-voice and thought that it's worse that crap, fear not its actually good. while i'm not sure what kind of a back end service it uses to do the voice recognition I know that it works surprisingly good. It was able to consistently and accurately pickup my words even in a noisy environment. I think it speaks to the quality of the mic and the voice recognition service that pebble is using. Though keep in mind that just like Google now Voice will not work without a live internet connection to your phone. All is well up till now, but there are some shortcomings to this well rounded smartwatch that I have to talk about. For starters the built quality is between the original pebble and the pebble steel. which is to say that it was a lot better than i thought it would be knowing that it was not a steel version. But the buttons was a big disappointment for me. Button placement did bother me at all. It was the tactile response or the lack thereof. the only worse buttons that I have used is on my nexus 7 2013 tablet. Also I wish there was a way to feel which button I was about to press with a small bump on the middle button. I can't believe they missed that. This pissed me off a lot. The plastic/rubber coating on the metal bezel seems to easily scratched off. I had a huge gash at the end of the first day. and after that I gave up hope on trying to keep it unscratched. But there are some good news. The Glass screen is holding up very well despite me bumping it on to metal surfaces quite a few time. Since I have been using this product I have been asking myself “who is this for?’. Well I think there are two types of people that will be satisfied with this. People that want something that will last for days on battery and deliver notifications to their wrist without looking too bad. And then there's the iPhone users that don't want pay a the price of a decent Android phone to get a Apple Watch. I you are in one or both of those categories then the Pebble TIme is for you.

So, I recently picked up a Pebble Steel, and I've been doing a little bit of research, but I was wondering if you guys had any app (or watchface) recommendations. Right now, my main useful-app installed is Awear, and then I've just got dumb stuff like Pixel Miner or the Dominos Pizza Tracker -- things that aren't necessarily useful in day-to-day life. Other than that, I've got autoaudio installed on my phone so that Spotify track information will display properly in the default music app and not much else. So, yeah, any suggestions from other more experienced pebble users?

Lights, Smartwatch, Action: Android Wear notifications come to Pebble (Release Notes) Pebble will have the possibility to replay and act on notifications from the watch. Also pebble users will be able to be part of the beta by joining the testing group.

You can now use the Android Wear notifications on Pebble with a new fimware update. You can now answer text messages with emoticons and stuff. Heres the post on their blog: https://blog.getpebble.com/2014/12/16/ad-23/ Here are two videos showing off the new functionality:

I think it looks awesome. Here it is on my Pebble: DOWNLOAD IT! https://apps.getpebble.com/applications/5476794505bfc8de880000d3

Hey guys, as I was formulating somewhat of a Christmas list, the first thing I put on there was a Pebble Steel due to its nice and low $150 dollar Black Friday price. Thing is, I don't know if now is the time to buy. With CES coming in January, it's extremely certain that they will drop a new watch. Do you think the changes will be drastic enough to wait? Thanks everyone!

I've been thinking really seriously on getting a Peeble Steel on black friday or something like that, but i'm a little worried. The Pebble Steel has been around for a while, and i'm worried that i buy one now and they release a Pebble Steel 2.0 just months after with much more funcionality that i don't know if i will want or not. I really don't wanna use it for much more than notifications, music, some sleep features and the time (duh). What do you guys think? Is it a good time to buy a Pebble or should i wait a little longer and get something else instead? Thanks in advance for the support, guys

I consider buying a Pebble now but if the announced Smart Watches from Google, Samsung, etc. are launching within the next year I would proboably hate myself. Should I go for it and buy a pebble now or should I be patient and wait for the new Smart Watch generation?

For people with a Pebble Smart watch that wants a bit more WAN show every week I made this, Pebble watchface: http://www.watchface-generator.de/wf/20140630/wanshow_1/ I made this because I was searching for an easy way to make watchfaces for my pebble. I found the page watchface-generator.de , don't worry its in English, and it is a nice an easy way to make it. I made a Pebble watchface of the WAN show as example, go check it out, and make your own if you want edit: with example picture down below.

Do you think that we will see a price drop on the Pebble smart-watch anytime soon because of all of the pending releases for Android Wear smart-watches and the Apple Watch early next year? What are your thoughts? Personally, if the Pebble Steel drops to $200 before there is an Android Wear device I'd want, I will probably buy it.

So I was wondering if it was worth it to upgrade to a LG G Watch from the pebble or is it a waste of money? Because I may be able to get 80 dollars off if I buy it together with a LG G3, so I was wondering if it was worth S$180? Which is cheaper then its normal price tag, and also it would be cheaper then how much I paid for my pebble in may for S$199, so is it worth it? I may consider getting it, but it is only a 40% chance I will buy one

Does anyone know what is on the Pebble App Store and what it is like?
-
Well I live in Portugal and follow Linus for over a year now, and since I've seen his pebble for the first time I feel like buying one, the thing is I don't really like the original pebble, the Pebble steel is a lot more pleasing to the eye. Well it costs 249$ + 25$ for DHL shipping + 23% TAX at the Customs, all together I need to pay 337$ to get one . At this price point I could almost buy a new phone. So question is, is it worth the money?
