Sirtec - High Power Astro GD 1200W - 3 months used for 118USD How overkill do you think it is just to save some money? will the 1200W psu reach it's 40% to work at an ok rate?

I'm studying Networking and Penetration Testing (Just starting out, any advice would be appreciated). I found out what virtualization was a few months ago and have been playing around with operating systems ever since. I'm starting to get into creating entire virtual networks and I just don't have the core count/ RAM to make the number of VMs I want or have them run as smooth as I'd like. Enter the Xeon E5-2670. I found out about these 8 Core hyperthreading beauties and immediately started planning a new rig. If you don't know, these chips were dumped on the second hand market and go for $55-80 on Amazon and Ebay. I don't just want one, though. At $80 a piece, I want two. What would you change and why?

So this is a story all about how my computer got tricked, turned upside down... Ok, for real, I have a 4790K, 24Gb Ram, a 980Ti, and a Quadro 600 in my computer. My motherboard is the Asrock Extreme 6 z97. My monitor is an Asus PB258Q, 60Hz, QHD. I play mostly Rocket League, Cities Skylines, etc. Obviously, Overkill. However, I LOVE overkill. So, I am going to upgrade my PC again. Don't ask why, it is because I enjoy working on it. Now the real question... How? I don't want to drop my 4790K, ram, and motherboard yet, and the quadro is kinda needed for my SolidWorks That means I have 2 real options for upgrading my PC, drop the quadro and go SLI 980Ti's (when the new gen comes out and I can snag a used 980Ti reference card cheap) with 2 850Evos in Raid 0, or keep the quadro, keep the single 980Ti, and go 950Pro for 'dat NVME. I'm torn, not sure when, or if, the upgrade will happen, but want to know opinions. Thoughts?

For me it's my ram , nothing nearly passed that 6 gig mark for the 16 gig capacity , Also my power supply which hovered around 220 watts at most , of of the 500watts max, rest of em pretty much have hit it's most efficient point, Post yours down below..

I am starting a new business that involves rendering 4K video and high quality images. I will need a beast of a PC that can handle it all with no issues. Since 4K video and high quality images have massive files sizes, I need to have adequate storage. I plan on using the Samsung 512GB Pro M.2 drive for my OS, main programs etc. For the two, 4TB Western Digital Black drives, I plan to use one as a backup drive and one for base storage. Then lastly for my two 1TB Samsung Evo's, I would like to use them as my main storage and editing drives in Raid 1. Would it be worth it to watercool a system without the radiators in the system, much like whole room water cooling and get another case with radiators and a nas built in to it. That means you havent got any fans in your system and you don't need any hdd's but only ssd's because long term and massive files can be saved at your nas. Would it work and would it be worth it for hardcore gaming?

Hello all, I am attempting to come up with a pretty sweet combo that I can enjoy whenever I travel, but also don't want to lug around my 80 lbs desktop from home (see: https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/1hugpz/newest_build/) What I am imagining is a laptop build that is fully decked out that will be way more powerful than my current desktop that will become my new daily rig. I often multi-box any game I play, or am doing multiple big projects all at the same time, so the more powerful the laptop the better. I've heard of these new PCI-e SSDs that get some insane read/write speed, totally digging that. Also wanting with at least 32 gigs of DDR4 ram. Most definitely will be wanting dual 980 GPU's, not the mobile, and slower variant. and wishing for as big of display on the laptop you can come up with. I'll connect the laptop to an external monitor when I'm at home, intend for fast 144hz+ 1080 panel on the laptop itself. When i'm home I want quality over gaming performance hence the external monitor, so when I game, I can just use the laptop screen, and everything else gets thrown up to the external monitor. I'll use the laptop screen for gaming, but, if possible, would like to use this monitor for gaming too, just not FPS shooters. Last but not least. I've had this old Razer Megalodon headset for the past God know how many years, and i'm wondering what are my options under $1,000 for a really nice quality headset? I already have a stand alone yeti mic, so quality over features is key here, and would I be needing an external sound card to make these puppies really shine? Hello there, I have recently started building a "gaming rig"; less than a year ago. What affected me the most was the lack of knowledge, so I ended up with coil whine which is most likely caused by my psu, since it looks like that everyone who has this psu in my country shares my problem. I have to say that I really liked building a PC and learning about the master race, I actually liked it so much that I even decided to go on electrotechnics/computing college next year, instead of sticking to engineering. That said, I even started to build my "dream setup" and I believe that I'm just about half way there. The problem is, I have a common issue these days, which is coil whine. I had it on my gtx970 and I have it now on my 980ti, but 980ti is unusable because of how loud it is. I will doublecheck the card at shop on a quality psu and therefore I might be forced to swap out my Corsair rm850, and in case I will, I'd go for the most high end psu that I will be able to get, with the option of reserving some wattage for another 980ti later on. So what I am after is the best possible ~850W PSU that I can get nowdays, regardless of the price, I just want to be able to exclude my psu as a cause to coil whine and similar defects. What I am really interested in is some additional info on every single little spec that I should look after and some comparison tables with psu specs including in-depth explanation on what does every single of them mean and which ones are important to watch after. Since I am new to all this, all I know as a perfect choice for my build is a Corsair AX860i, since everyone in my country says that without any valid proof of it being the best, or just without a proof. Just help me, please, tell me everything, every little detail I have to know about enthusiast-grade psu's; I don't want you to just help me pick it out by saying this one is the best, I please you to go in-depth with explanation, even if it includes terms which look like some weird chineese nonsense symbols to me right now, I will google it and find out what it is. Hi, I have been planning an overkill 1080p gaming PC early ish next year (mainly to make use of hairworks or similar settings). With a budget of £2300 at the very most (including monitor and speakers i have a nice mouse ready for the build already and i am debating upgrading to a deathstalker ultimate) this is the PC at the moment: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/Pqzk23 although with the release of the R9 fury x2 on its way i am debating waiting for that instead of going for the 980 ti. This is a strange place to post this, but I'm looking for as much help as people are willing to offer. This has been happening to me and plenty of other people for a while (I tried getting help but I either get ignored or people give up trying to help me). It's also a big issue since the group I play with is entirely based around Payday 2...This doesn't just happen to Xsplit users; plenty of OBS users have reported this as well. When attempting to stream Payday 2 through either Xsplit or OBS, for some reason it will recognize my mouse clicks on my second monitor which will pop up right-click menus and even tab me out of the game rather frequently if it recognizes a left-click. The mouse doesn't physically appear, though. Something I have noticed is that if I pull up my Steam overlay while streaming Payday 2 that when my mouse pops up, it will be on the second monitor when the overlay pulls up. The only way I can stop this from happening is to have absolutely nothing on my second monitor so there's no windows to click. That let's me know that it's only recognizing my mouse when there is a window present that's not Xsplit. Along with the mouse issues, my physical game lags/stutters down below 60 fps even though it outputs to the stream perfectly fine (even if I hit normal frame-rates, it's really choppy). This does not happen with ANY other game for me; only Payday 2. The funny thing is, the menus aren't affected as much. Only when I load into the heist does the lag start to kick into high gear. These issues don't appear on all machines so I'm hoping that might help narrow down what's causing these issues. Something I thought was that it might be dual monitors or the refresh rates they're at. I'm on two 144hz monitors at the resolution 1920x1080. My second thought is that Xsplit or even Payday 2 has a few bugs with SLI configurations. I'm currently using two Gigabyte G1 Gaming 980's. The monitors are connected via DVI (same exact cables as well). I hope I've given enough information to progress to resolving these issues. Thanks again if you read all the way through.

I currently have an HP 2310m, which is a 3 ms monitor, and I'm wondering if I will be able to see the difference. Hey!! NOT SO IMPORTANT ---------------- So. Wanabe boy story ahead! I've never built a computer in my life (don't just go away). I've been so hyped about it, and really into it, I've spent numberless hours watching vids, reading guides forums, everything. I might be a newb but I know what I want. Ofc I'm gona go with air cooling first, even just to explore and get some knowledge and self-experience on how it works, but I've always loved water cooling since the first moment I heard about it. Eventually my future rig is gona be water cooled for sure, I mean, right now I'm running a gt 540M in a laptop, and as it's not that easy to clean (along with the fact that it's probably half way dead), so it easily goes up to the 90s and I can't play for long before it melts (even light games). I've gotta say, I really hate this pc and I don't feel like cleaning it, I just wanted to throw that outside the window, so let's not talk about this brick. I am crazy and some why obsessed with good looking, water cooling, moding, etc.. So do not at any point try to convince me to buy a titan x instead of a water cooling loop. I am a really sick person, but for what I'm gona play and do, the way I want to play and do is totally ok with me. My list of ideas: 1=>Getting a few carboys or jugs(google translate isn't really helping with these word I'd say), sticking then in a freezer, and when they where completely frozen, I'd stick them in a big jar with water in it. that would be preventing the "dirty" water from touching a really big reservoir it would be in, so the heat could go through and the "dirt" couldn't. Problems: -If that wasn't enough to cool the water around the whole system it would fail because using rads will lower the temps of the water to ambient levels and not using would overheat. -Condensation(if it works) -Some other you will probably tell me about. 2=>Getting the rads inside a bucket with water and the frozen carboys/jugs/whatever. I really.. Have no idea of what would happen, maybe the materials would get damaged (but then the aluminium or the copper would be exposed and it should theoretically get the temps even lower, but I'm afraid it might just ruin the rads or simply heat up the water faster than the jug can cool it.) 3=>Actually getting a proper system for cooling the water below the ambient temps, I mean, I've read just a bit on how fridges and freezers work, and they seem to compress the water, "pull out the heat", that at higher pressures sort of is relative to "I really am not the adequate person for explaining this", then get it back to normal pressure, that, relatively is colder (?). I doesn't matter, I guess you get it. My list of problems: CONDENSATION K, so, I watched the build guide I mentioned at the beginning of this, and Linus used some sort of anti-humidity paste, and so far, I think near-the-components stuff might be my only concern, the rest, I think, can be easily handled, I need help here. Browsing the internet I came across this: http://bit.ly/1NIfAM5. Its a 32GB single stick of DDR3 ram. So if you have a motherboard that supports 8 sticks of ram, you could have 256GB of ram?! Any ideas why someone would ever need that much ram?
