Hi So I got a nice new job, and decided to treat myself to a new pc with a decent spec. I've built several pcs for myself in the past without issue. All of the parts arrived I've put it together and it won't even turn on. spec: Ryzen 9 3900x Aorus Elite x570 970 Evo 1TB ssd 650w psu gigabyte radeon 5700 xt Thermaltake floe ring 360 plus Hyper x 16Gb 3600 Basically I've gone through every step here : https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/perform-these-steps-before-posting-about-post-boot-no-video-problems.1285536/ (check list of things to try) yes I have the psu on, I have cpu power plugged into the motherboard I have the motherboard power connected I have the cpu seated properly AIO cooler plugged into cpu_opt ram is seated properly GPU seated properly both gpu power connectors connected I'm lost as to what to try now. Also, when I turn the psu on the motherboard flashes once, but pressing the power button does nothing , neither does jumping the power from the pins PSU works fine in old pc Any help would be very much appreciated.

When I turn on the power, all the fans start spinning, but no BIOS beeps or video output. When i press keyboard buttons nothing happens Does this mean that the motherboard is functioning? Is there a way to test if the CPU is an issue that doesn't involve me buying a new CPU? I have tried with and without the GPU (MSI Twin Frozr III GTX 660), with no difference. I have a speaker plugged in for testing purposes. ive recently been trying to get my m.2 ssd to boot windows but when I go to my bios it doesn't show recognize it until I got into boot options and all it says there is wd 500gb, when I click it to boot off it it gives me a cursor flash 3 times at the top left corner then returns to bios ive tried both m.2 locations on my board and gotten the same result using a asus z370 e gaming motherboard.

So my computer decided to turn off during the winter break and went I came back to see what was wrong with it I couldn't get it to start. The motherboard (ASUS Strix X-370-I) is getting power but when I press the power button nothing happens. I tried shorting the system connector and that didn't work. I refitted the RAM DIMMS to different spots, tried only one and that didn't work. I tried to see if the PSU was working by shorting pins 4 and 5 and saw the PSU's fan spin. I tried reconnecting all the power connectors and that didn't work. The only thing that is left is the motherboard/CPU. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hey, This is my first post on this forum. Please be gentle So to describe what happened: I was using my laptop like normal but for some reason I'm not sure about it started acting weirdly: function and shift key not working, a key not working, ctrl not working. To fix this I tried restarting my computer. When doing so, my laptop decided to also install a windows update. It installed it to 35%, then rebooted and was suddenly finished (I'm not sure if it actually jumped to 100% but it was very suddenly done) After this the weird keyboard behavior persisted so I wanted to do a full shut down and reboot instead of using the "reboot" option. Well my PC shut down and since then it's dead It's not responding to anything, plugging in cable does nothing either. No lights blink whatsoever. My Laptop is an Aspire 7 A715-71G-58SE i5-7300HQ GTX 1050 ti 4gb 8gb ddr4 ram 128gb ssd + 1 tb hdd I have windows preinstalled + linux mint in dual boot. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

Hi, I'm currently facing a problem after my case arrived. It's a Thermaltake Versa H18. Before the case arrived, I use my PC without case for about 3 days and it worked just fine. And now, after I put it in a case, it won't boot to BIOS. My screen keeps showing no signal sign. Case fan, CPU fan, HDD, case's LED, are on though. And, everything I plug on the rear I/O panel are off, except speaker. Don't know why though. My motherboard is Asrock AB350M-HDV and I did several things to troubleshoot. Reseat everything, boot without GPU, boot without GPU and RAMs, reseat all the power cables (CPU, 24 pin, PCI-E, etc), clear the CMOS, rechecked front panel cables. After looked up on internet, I found it could be the case shorting the motherboard because the stand-offs that are not put properly or not align with the motherboard's screw holes. Then I found 1 stand-off that placed wrong, and I move it to another pre-drilled hole that align with another hole on motherboard. Still not posting. Don't know what else to do or what could possibly wrong. P.S. My front panel Power LED is a molex, not 2 single pin cables. So, what I plugged to the motherboard are only H.D LED, Reset SW, and Power SW. I don't have friends that into PC so I can't borrow a part, and don't have any money left since I spent them all on this.

I guess to start things off, here is my build when I tried to post for the first time: CPU: AMD Threadripper 1950x CPU Cooler: Noctua - NH-U14s TR4-SP3 GPU: ASUS - GeForce RTX 2080 8gb ROG Strix Gaming OC Motherboard: ASUS - ROG Strix X399-E Gaming EATX TR4 Memory: G. Skill Trident Z RGB 32gb (4x8gb) DDR4-3200 Storage: Samsung 970 EVO 500gb M.2-2280 PSU: EVGA - SuperNova 1000 P2 1000 W 80+ Platinum All of these parts were bought new and off of reputable venders which include Newegg, Outlet PC, Amazon, and B&H Photo and Video. I specifically chose the memory because it was on ASUS's QVL and I've seen it used on numerous other 1950x builds. First Attempt to Post: Everything installed on motherboard. No update on BIOS. When I first tried to boot it, the postcode display on the motherboard ran through some numbers before stopping on postcode D2, PCH Initialization Error. Tried restarting and got the some code. No display on monitor even though it's plugged into the graphics card. Second Attempt: GPU Taken Out. All Sticks of RAM Still Installed. No change. Postcode still D2. Third Attempt: Updated the BIOS to version 0808 via flashback button on the board. Postcode D2 remains. Fourth Attempt: Removed memory from DIMM slots B1, C1, and D1. Left memory in slot A1. GPU still not installed on motherboard. Reseated the CPU. Downgraded the BIOS to first release, 0304. Booted up and got postcode 55, Memory Not Installed. Unplugged everything from the power supply and walked away for a few minutes. Fifth Attempt Reseated memory and CPU. Installed antother stick of RAM in DIMM slot C1. Installed BIOS version 0402. Post code 79, CSM Initialization. Thought it was something good so I waited but it didn't move from that code. Tried rebooting like a couple more times but still no change. Sixth Attempt: Installed the newest version of BIOS, again, 0808. Reverted back to postcode D2. Seventh Attempt: Took out the stick of RAM and got postcode 55, Memory Not Installed. Eighth Attempt: Re-Installed everything back on the motherboard cause why not. Postcode D2. Still no display on the monitor. I am not sure where to go from here, or if there is anywhere else to go, but I have a feeling I might have to RMA the board. I tried to be detailed as but I may of missed something, please ask if you need more details. Any other ideas or suggestions would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

I recently swiched cases and now it won’t turn on. It worked before the switch. The motherboard lights turn on however but the case fans don’t run nor does the cpu cooler. Parts: ryzen 1500x Asus prime b350- plus motherboard Corsair vengeance ram 2x8gb Evga gtx 1060 6 gb Evga 500w psu NZXT h500i case

New to Linus but really enjoying his videos Have a issue with a new build I'm doing for my nephew that won't post/boot On the ez debug LEDs the CPU lights and goes out but the dram does nothing. With no ram inserted both lights come on and stay Have dismantled all the way down to just CPU, fan and ram Could it be a faulty ram stick or MB? The system is Ryzen 5 2600 MSI b350 gaming plus MB Xpg ddr4 2400 Coolermaster masterwatt lite 500 Gigabyte 120gb ssd MSI Radeon rx580 Any help would really be appreciated

Hi all, A family of mine bought his son a prebuilt PC, but since arrival, it does not post. I tried troubleshooting, but I cannot find what the issue is. All fans spin including case fans, CPU cooler, and GPU. I get no display signal when I turn on the PC and I've tried connecting an HDMI to both MOBO and GPU outputs. I have tried the following: -reseating RAM & Changing slots (it's only a 1x 4GB stick) -reseating all power cables (CPU + MOBO) -reseating GPU -Checking all connections -Clearing CMOS by removing battery -Changing monitor & cable CPU: No Idea Cooler: darkFlash Shadow? Mobo: Some B75M MOBO (LGA 1155 socket) - There's no branding and the included QRcode leads to a Google search with "results not found" page. RAM: 1x MICRON MT16JTF51264AZ-1G6M1 4GB PSU: Gamdias Kratos | M1 550 bronze GPU: XFX 570 BLK Edition I do not know what else to do. Any help would be appreciated!

Hey all, I have a sager n170sd with an i7 4710hq and a GTX 960m that won't post. when I press the power button it blinks then stays solid and then turns off. I have found that the gpu fan does not spin up but the CPU one does. After getting a replacement fan the gpu fan still does not spin up. At this point I'm at a loss of how to fix it. Thanks! P.s. the 2nd picture has the fan port that's not working.

I am in the middle of troubleshooting a PC I built that used to be working, then after using it to troubleshoot another rig it has stopped POSTing upon rebuilding. I wanted to test the graphics card (PowerColor RX 470 4GB) in a different system, and the only one I have access to is this old HP Pavilion tower with a PEGATRON 2AB6 motherboard containing an i5-2400, and a PSU that definitely won't power the GPU. I used the PSU (I know it's functional) that goes with my custom built rig to power the HP instead of the one it came with, stuck my 470 in the PCIe 2.0 x16 slot on the PEGATRON mobo and the system did not POST, same as my build has been doing. I know the display and display cable work. Should the graphics card definitely be compatible here - meaning it's (at least one of) the culprits preventing my own system from POSTing? Or is there a chance it's not a problem and the reason the HP doesn't POST is simple incompatibility? As far as I am aware this shows that the card is dead, but I am looking for confirmation from potentially much more experienced and knowledgeable people here on this forum. If you know of any reason for the RX 470 not to work in the HP given sufficient power, please let me know! Thanks very much in advance. I have a problem with my pc. It won't turn on for some reason. My motherboard (asus z270h gaming strix) has a red/dark orange light on. My CPU cooler runs fine and my GPU also runs fine, but my rgb fan is doing weird, the lights do turn on but it wont spin. And it won't post. I tried re-plugging all the cables, re-seated the RAM. And plug the gpu back in. I tried the motherboard video output, that didnt work. It tried re-plugging the power cable and tried to unplug the fan. Nothing worked. I have a big ESL tournament today and I don't know what to do. can someone help?

Well i was watching a video on my computer when suddenly froze and when i restarted it begin to boot loop, fans turn on lights as well then reestarts, i take it apart and then when i put everything back in it started but ssd was done it wont load the os, so i think that was it but it was'nt, without the ssd, withoud the hdd it wont post it just boot loop so i change the motherboard and nothing, waste of time and money i turn on the computer without the ram and it will still boot loop i take the psu and put it in a friend old pc and it works fine so im ***** done can you tell me if it is the cpu, nowing if is that i could at least sell all the other stuff funny how just when i start university and i would really need my pc it just dies on me i7 6700k 8gb ddr4 corsair vengeance Gtx 1070 amp extreme Wd hdd 2tb Evga 600w

New build will turn on, all fans running, no strange noises, but I am not getting it to post with any bios screen and monitor showing the ole "no signal". List anything you've done in attempt to diagnose or fix the problem. I haven't bread boarded it, but I've taken out the graphics card, all RAM except one stick, attempting to boot it with trying each slot individually. The monitor is connected with a Display Port to DVI, with DVI going into motherboard directly. My motherboard has the EZ debug light - when booting the light for cpu comes on for a second, then DRAM, then on VGA it stays on for much longer (15-20 seconds) then boot comes on for split second and all lights go off. The manual tells me the VGA lighting staying on means it's not detecting a graphics card or some kind of failure on that end, yet I've unhooked my graphics card for troubleshooting. Shouldn't I be able to get to post without a video card in? I have also checked all connectors such as 8 pin cpu power cable and 24 pin connector to motherboard, reseating both to no resolve. Still getting the VGA light to appear without any graphic card in. There are also no beeps on my motherboard speaker going off. Before tearing this thing down to the CPU, I was hoping there were some other things I might have missed. This computer is for my work and I'm eager to figure out what is going on. Thank you in advance to anyone that offers any advice. Edit: I have tried booting without RAM entirely and I was able to verify my motherboard speaker hooked up does work as I got 3 error beeps. I hooked up RAM back up, still no graphics card in, and I'm still getting the Debug light showing up on VGA for longer than any other light. Still no luck with getting any post screen. Edit 2: I have tried using a different monitor with a DVI connection, but still got the same led debug light with VGA staying lit. I tried booting with the GPU back in it, but in the different PCI slot. Still nothing is working.

Hi guys,I have a Intel S2600CP dual LGA2011 motherboard which isn't posting.It has 1 x Intel Xeon E5-2603 in the CPU 1 socket with the heatsink fan attached, and 1 stick of 2GB DDR3 KTA-MP1066K4/8G 1066 MHz ECC in Ram slot A1.I have a 550w ATX PSU with the 24pin plugged in and EPV12V 8 PIN CPU power connected to CPU1 power. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4eDLUR4BoAIf you watch the youtube video attached I am having the EXACT same problem, the fans spin for a less than a second and there are 2 "Clicks" coming from the motherboard speaker (no beeps), and the motherboard shuts down again. The 5v continues power LED is solid green, the system status LED is solid green. The system ID LED flashes blue when first turned on and then turns solid blue. So all the LEDs are as they should be, suggesting the motherboard is being powered correctly?I was hoping someone would be able to help me who has solved this problem before!Thanks

Hey LTT-Community, every 6 months I take my entire system apart to remove dust and cat hair. Its a big problem since I have 2 cats and my pc is standing on a carpet and doesnt have any sort of dust filtration. Anyways, I took it apart, cleaned everything with a brush, threw new thermal compund on my cpu and gpu and put it back together. Now the video cards fan Is spinning, but its not outputting through hdmi dvi or displayport. If I remove the card and use the integrated graphics it boots and puts out. My MB doesnt beep and yes, I have a MB speaker. I have made sure several times that my cables are all correctly seated correctly. I have an old GTX 750TI and that does work. Is there anything I can do or is my gpu dead? Specs: (Its a prebuilt lenovo something Erazer I think, the only original things in there are the ram, the mb, and the cpu) I5 4460 16GB RAM Zotac GTX1060 mini SSD Some Lenovo branded MB 500 watt Bequiet psu Cheers

I have an MSI G41M-P28 motherboard, a core 2 quad q9550 running at 2.83gHz, a Geforce GTX 650 1gb and 4 gb of ddr3 memory running at 1333mhz. I bought three (not all at once, one after the other) 8gig ddr3 1600mhz memory. I inserted 2 with the original 4gig stick and in both cases the pc wouldn't post. The third one i inserted into the slot where the original stick was and still wouldn't post. After taking them out i placed them onto a test bench. In each case the motherboard was displaying the boot code 55. After a quick google search it said it was a memory issue. I sent the first 2 sticks back thinking they were dead, thought the second slot was broken and it was frying the sticks but after inserting into the surely functioning slot i ran out of ideas. Also i doubt this makes a difference but i'll list it anyways. The pc's a hackintosh running mac os x 13.4 beta 3

I just put together a new build (not my first, I built it for my mom) and its not posting Specs- -Gigabyte Z370 Aorus Gaming 7 -i7 8700k -16GB Corsair Vengeance 3200 mhz (tested in another computer and both working fine) (in the pics I gave Gskill 16gb 3200mhz which also was not the problem) -Corsair h100i v2 -Corsair 750 watt psu (does work) -Gigabyte AORUS GeForce GTX 1060 6G REV 2.0 What happens is I switch on the psu and the mobo flashes it's rbg lights for less than a second then everything turns off and the red power button (I believe also the cpu light) on the mobo stays on. When I try and press the power button the light on the cpu cooler comes on for less than a second and the fans twitch but nothing stays on. I've tried- -breadboarding with only the cpu/cpu cooler/1 stick of ram -all of the cables are working I've attached images below

I built a pc recently and it has not been posting. I had an extra processor and tried it and still wouldn’t post. I no longer have my speaker on my mobo so they doesn’t help

Eariler today my monitors went back while my pc was still running. After a quick reboot I found that my pc is no longer posting. I was using a Z170A Pro motherboard i7 - 6700k cpu Evga nex650 g power supply 16gb vengenance ddr4 Gtx 1070 graphics And have a kraken x62 as well as a hue+ and some led stuff like aer fans and leds in there as well as 2 ssd 1 m.2 drive and 1 hdd. I have since tried taking every thing apart and only plugging in the MB and cpu then the same with 1 stick of ram trying both sticks I have purchased and returned 2 8gb sticks of gskill ram when they didn't help. I now have a GA-Z270-HD3 MB hooked up to my power supply with 1 stick of ram the 24 pin and 8 pin cpu plugged in and my x62 mounted with the board just on its box. The leds on the mother board turn on fans spin up but the diagnostic less light up as follows. The cpu led lights up and then turns off, dram lights up for 5 seconds and then turns off, vga lights up for about 20ish seconds and then the whole thing powers off and turns back on after a few seconds to do the same thing. I can provide more details of anyone needs. Additionally I have tried reseting cmos on both boards to no avail.

Hello, I just built a pc. Now the only problem is that the graphics card (MSI gtx 1070 ti gaming) is not posting (Screen black). My MSI motherboard has that ez debug system. And the red lights on the gpu. Without the graphics card the pc works fine. So it's most likely the gpu here that's the problem. It's lights all light on and fans start spinning. I've tried changing the power cable. I downloaded the latest chipset driver. Still not working Specs: Evga 650w g2 I5 8600k 16gb ddr4 H100i v2 1tb hdd 250gb ssd Windows 10 home 64bit Any suggestions and help is appreciated And happy christmas

Hi Everyone! I just wanted to ask what is the difference of DIMM-R and DIMM-S. And if there is a difference in performance between the two if I insert my ram stick in there. And if it is alright to leave my RAM stick in the DIMM-S slot. I am asking this because my laptop was not posting earlier, there was no Asus startup sound and logo. So I tried to move my RAM stick that was initially in the DIMM-R slot to the DIMM-S slot. And it booted up and my laptop works normally now. Although I have not tried any heavy tasks yet.
