I'm definitely running a i3-4150, this might explain my recent issues. Edit: My Device manager says it IS the 4150.

Hi all, Upgraded over Christmas to an i7 9700k. I have a Corsair H115i AIO in an IBP Snowblind S Case. Prior to my upgrade, from an i5 8400, I would sit at 70deg under load. I have noticed even if I leave my PC on during the day it ends up in the high 80s, low 90s even at times. Mostly when it creeps into the 90s, it will be under load, but I have caught it in the high 80s just idling. If I sleep my PC during the day, when it runs for a few hours under load when I am home, it sits in the 70s. I have dusted it a few times since, even reseated and pasted my CPU. Do I need a new AIO? Do I need to switch to a CPU fan? I have debated hardline water cooling, but now with the Snowblind S, I would hardly see it. My GPU rarely creeps over 50. Side Question- PC Blue screens whenever I move my Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 audio interface. Not that concerned with this as I can just you know, not touch it, but if anyone has encountered this before it would be greatly appreciated! TLDR: Specs CPU: i7 9700k GPU: 2060 8GB OC PSU: Thermaltake GOLD 750W RAM: 2x 8GB Corsair Vengeance 3200mhz cl16 AIO: Corsair H115i (2x 120mm rad) Case: IBP Snowblind S Thanks in advance for your help!

So my new built gaming pc isn't showing anything when I turn it on. The cooling, ram and gpu all seem to work since the fans are running and the rgb works fine. But the LED indicator on the motherboard is red and shows that there's something wrong with the cpu. The cpu is connected correctly to the motherboard. It is already my 2nd cpu. I returned it bcs I thought it was broken. I really don't know if it is a rookie mistake or a big compatability issue. The CPU should be powered correctly. When I bought the parts I used PC Part Picker to double check everything and there were no errors, so everything should be fine in theory. Here are my specs: Motherboard: Gigabyte Z490 Aorus Pro Ax CPU: Intel Core i7-11700K (Should work fine with the Motherboard) RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO (4x, 8GB, DDR4-3600, DIMM 288) GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GeForce RTX 3080 Master SSDs: 2x Samsung 970 EVO Plus (2000GB, M.2 2280) Cooling: Corsair Hydro X Series iCUE XH305i Fans: Corsair iCUE QL120 RGB (7x) PSU: Corsair SF750 Platinum (750W) Case: Lian-Li O11 Dynamic Mini

undervolt Undervolting on Asrock Z490 boards.
GTheGecko posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hey, So I have an Asrock z490m-ITX/AC & 10700kf. I know, kinda overkill CPU for this board, but I need more cores and I want to undervolt it. The issue is, using voltage offset doesn't really change anything. Setting -100mv on all ratio points lowers the overall voltage to -20mv maximum. I keep the Ring V/F offset to auto. There is another issue though. I set the max turbo ratio on 6/8 cores to 46 and the other two 50. This works well for all core tasks, however, now in idle the CPU doesn't go below 4.2Ghz. I haven't changed all core ratio, because I don't want to have 4.6ghz all the time. Any help would be appreciated. -
Hi My I noticed in task manager that my CPU never dips below 4.65Ghz, it will go higher when im using my pc but whenever its just sitting there it is always at 4.66ghz. I've looked in windows power plan but none of them seem to make a difference so im not sure if they work properly on my system. CPU is i7 10700K and it's not overclocked. Is that normal for the CPU to be running at that speed at all times?

I have a MSI z490 gaming Edge mobo and an I7 10700kf and my CPU clock speed is at 4800mhz and when doing basic stuff like playing Minecraft and discord at the same time it goes up to 80* I have a NZXT x53. I know my overclock is really high how do I turn it off? I turned off the CPU essay overclock on the MSI bios and that didn’t work. How do I fix this?

Just a quick question, how much does enabling all 8 of the cores on my i7 8th gen in my laptop effect my battery life. https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Spin-Touchscreen-Quad-Core-i7-8565U/dp/B08QZ44DGR/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8&th=1 there is the laptop if you want to take a look oh and the laptop is brand new

I have an Intel i7 4770, not the k version.the base clock is 3.4ghz. I have enabled performance mode so the chip is at 3.8ghz at low utilization but what I don’t understand is why it goes down to 3.47ghz but is at 100% utilisation when I run cinebench or try to render something in premier pro . I have disabled eist in the bios but nothing changed.. The temps are hovering in the high 40s low 50s. If anybody has anything else that I can try please tell me.

CPU: Intel I7-9700K MB: Gigabyte Z390 M PSU: Corsair RM750 AIOs: Corsair H100i, Arctic liquid freezer 240mm Case: Corsair Carbide series 175R I recently bought a second hand Corsair H100i from eBay. I installed it in my case in the place of my Hyper 212X (radiator always above the pump). Sometimes I got boot failure detected and was sent to the BIOS, and when the PC booted I was either greeted by idles of 70-90 degrees, or mid-40s, but when it was idling at the mid-40s as soon as I would use more than about 40% of my CPU it would shoot straight up to 100C with no overclock and an undervolt of -75mV. the BIOS only detected the fans that were connected to the pump block, never the pump itself. It also never showed up in iCue. The logo on the AIO sometimes turns red while running, but not always. I could see the fans turning and hear the pump working, and one of the tubes ran hot and the other cold. I thought there was something wrong with the AIO, so bought an Arctic Freezer 240 new and tried that. Same result, though neither tube was running hot even after a couple of hours of idle. I initially thought it wasn't getting enough power from the CPU fan header, so I plugged it into the SATA power using an adapter so it would get more juice and run at full speed. No better. I reinstalled both AIOs several times, to see if I was doing it wrong. Every time I installed the pump block, I put a pea-sized amount of thermal paste on the CPU and didn't spread it, letting the mounting pressure do so for me. Every time I removed the pump block the paste was spread over most of the CPU so I'm pretty sure the contact is fine. When I installed the block I also made sure to slowly tighten the screws in a criss-cross pattern. I have re-installed my 212X with the same thermal paste and my idles are sitting in the mid 30s, so it's not the paste either. I have absolutely no idea what's wrong with it. (Please excuse terrible cable management lol) Any ideas anyone?

Which i7 CPU is built into the Surface Laptop 4?
Hip posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
Hey guys, does anyone know which i7 there will be built into the 32GB version of the Surface Laptop 4? Somehow the official website just says "i7". Thanks in advance! -
Hey everyone, this is my first post. I have a Toshiba Satellite with an i7-4700MQ, Geforce GT 740MQ, 16 Gb Ram, 256 Gb SSD & Tb HDD. No matter what i try, The laptop refuses to go over 800 NMhz, Both plugged in, on battery, doesn't matter. Power settings are all fine. attempted to reinstall windows, it reverted back to Windows 8. But still.... 800 Mhz. Ive tried everything Suggested in similar forums about the same issue on the same machine but they got it fixed with one of the suggested methods. it is a very cheap laptop cost wise to me, So any info is great

Hello there, This topic relates back to my previous posts about purchasing my first laptop. Since then, I've purchased a Dell XPS 17 with a 10th generation i9, 32 GB of ram, a 1 TB SSD, NVIDIA 2060 w/ Max Q, and the 1920 * 1200p display (basically 1080p with 16:10 screen ratio). Since I ordered this straight from Dell's website, I'll be receiving my new laptop in the near future, and after talking to a Dell Service Rep (who was pretty helpful in my experience), he said that I could receive a full refund (within 30-day limit) if I'm not satisfied with my purchase, and honestly, I've been having some second thoughts. Some background on my decision process for laptops: I'll be going into college for Mechanical Engineering as a freshman and I'm in the market for a professional-looking laptop that has great processing power (Intel i7 or i9 or something similar), has at least 16 GB of ram, and has decent graphics to handle AAA titles at a smooth/ minimum 60 fps (I plan on playing games like Doom Eternal, Resident Evil Village, and Forza). A high refresh rate screen (100-120 Hz +) would also be nice, though I plan on getting a monitor for my dorm where I plan to do most of my gaming, which'll have a high refresh rate anyways. Firstly, I'm bit concerned about 10th vs 11th generation Intel processors. I've seen on Dave2D's channel that these 11th generation processors are outperforming comparable Ryzen processors in outright performance, and knowing that the 10th generation Intel processors performed noticeably worse than the Ryzen processors, I feel like I may be missing out on a big upgrade in performance. Secondly, I'm starting to wonder if the 2060 in the Dell XPS 17 would be able to provide the performance I want when playing AAA titles, and I'm also curious how it would handle Minecraft with and without Ray Tracing. I'm a little worried that I'll be falling behind on laptops equipped with NVIDIA 30-series graphics (or Ryzen similar). Third, I'm wondering if I should keep looking for other laptops besides the XPS 17. I should say that the reason I ended up purchasing the XPS 17 was because it had a powerful i9 processor, lots of ram, and - what I was under the impression as, and am still a little confused if it is - a good graphics card (again, we're talking about a 2060 with Max Q, and I honestly have no idea how good/ bad it is in today's age). But more importantly, I was really attracted to it's overall fit, finish, and design: I loved the 16:10 display with its ultra-thin bezels, I really liked its build quality, and when I tried out an XPS 13 in person, I was also in love with the keyboard, and could really see myself using this as my every-day work station. If you folks have any recommendations for other options, here's my priorities: firstly, finding something that looks professional (or "Macbook-esque" or that just generally looks professional/ good looking, and not flashy/ "gamer-like"), and second is that it has enough CPU/ GPU power to handle AAA games. I could deal with 16 GB of ram, though I wouldn't want to go lower, and I wouldn't want to go below and i7/ Ryzen 7. A 4K display would be an added bonus if the laptop doesn't come in 1080p or 1440p, and if it has a high refresh rate, that would also be an added bonus. If you folks can help me out again, I'd be truly grateful (and hey, if this topic/ question can get on the LTT YouTube channel, that'd also be pretty cool )

Budget (including currency): ~$1000 Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly AAA Titles, Video Editing, Work Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hello everyone, I'm brand new to the forums and need some help on a few issues with my upgrade plans Currently I'm running a 3060ti, Ryzen 5 26000 with stock cooler, 32gb Vengeance 3000mhz RAM, Corsair 220T RGB ICUE with 6 SP Pro RGB 120mm, a 1TB 970 Samsung N.2 drive, 1TB Samsung 860 SSD, EVGA 600W psu. I'm looking to upgrade due to the performance demands of newer titles such as Cyberpunk 2077 and one of my friends is looking to getting into PC gaming so I said, "hey you can buy mine once I'm done upgrading it." So right now I'm being told in order to run the i7-10700K, it would be best to liquid cool it. I have my doubts but I'm looking at the Corsair iCUE H115i Elite Capellix cooler 280mm. I love my corsair rgb fans and I'm wondering if liquid cooling is the way to go. Also, I'm not sure if the corsair iCUE 220T is the best case for airflow with RGB on the market and wanted help picking out a new one. I don't want to spend over $200 on a case because, well its a case. I just feel there are some better options out there like the Corsair iCUE 570X or the 465X. If anyone can help that would be very much appreciated. If I were to get a liquid cooler, I would much rather prefer a case that wouldn't look too crammed with that 280mm radiator on top. Spent too many hours watching videos and reading up on this but my overall indecisiveness is getting the better of me. Here are some links to some of the products I'm contemplating: iCUE 570X: https://www.newegg.com/white-corsair-crystal-series-570x-rgb-atx-mid-tower/p/N82E16811139092?Description=570x%20case&cm_re=570x_case-_-11-139-092-_-Product iCUE 220T: https://www.newegg.com/black-corsair-icue-220t-rgb-airflow-atx-mid-tower/p/N82E16811139142 iCUE 465X: https://www.newegg.com/black-corsair-crystal-icue-465x-rgb-atx-mid-tower/p/N82E16811139149?Item=N82E16811139149 Cooler: https://www.newegg.com/corsair-liquid-cooling-system-icue-h115i-elite-capellix/p/N82E16835181202?&quicklink=true

Hey there, I'm getting ready for Cyberpunk 2077 I've already upgraded my GPU from a 970 to a used 1070 and I'm thinking about doing the same for my CPU. I've also got 8GB of DDR3 ram, and I kind of don't want to buy two whole new sticks to extend the life span of my CPU so I'm just thinking about upgrading my whole rig The problem is that I'm on a budget, I've got two CPU's on my mind the I5-9400F and the i5-10400F they are both under 200€ the I5-9400F costs around 135 euros and the 10400F around 150, and with a new motherboard and DDR4 ram I think my budget will be fine. Would any of those 2 be considered an upgrade? I know I have an upgradable path to a I7 later down the years, but would any of those be worth the money spent we are talking about 250 euros total (I've already got a GPU and a PSU) So should I wait for newer budget Intel CPU's maybe DDR5 or should I make the jump? (I'm doing some video editing and photoshop as a hobby, but nothing much I've been okay with my i7-3770) NOTE: I see AMD's offerings, I was considering a AMD Ryzen 5 2600X or 3600 but I've heard that they are both not a great upgrade path, the 3600 might be but it's price spiked up recently on my country (around 210 euros) so even though AM4 motherboards tend to be cheaper I'm sadly not that impressed 2ND Note: I kind of also want to upgrade because my SSD is not reaching it's potential my motherboard supports SATA 3, 3gbs instead of 6 and I'll probably buy a Motherboard with a M.2 drive I found two videos comparing the CPU's Thank you in advance! PC Specs I7-3770 GTX 1070 8GB VS550 1x SSD 2x HDD's

So i have an i7 9700k running at the 4.6ghz boost. I have a liquid cooler on it and when im gaming it reaches a max of 57 degrees c is that a safe temp for long term use?

I have had both this CPU and motherboard for about 3 years with no major issues so far. In the last month I'd had 1-2 BSODs where the message said something about CPU power delivery errors. Today after I replaced the RAM I had in it with some new Trident Z RGB ram I bought. It booted for a few seconds, seemed like it was going to post (screen went from no input to black) and then restarted with no post. After that it booted again, the RGB lighting on the ram turned on, and then a second later the whole PC shut off. I tried powering it on a third time, and this time it would power on for about half a second, lights would flash and whatnot (00 displayed on the 8 segment) and then it would instantly shut off. I tried the old ram, a different PSU and even no RAM. The only thing that worked to get the board to turn on without seemingly dead shorting the power supply was removing the CPU. After doing that the board powered up normally (albeit without a CPU). What I'm wondering is, is this more likely the motherboard, or the CPU? It seems like it could be either, since there might be a short in the CPU power delivery circuitry, or the CPU could be dead shorted. Either one is expensive to test replacing (~$250 for a new motherboard and ~$290 for a new cpu), but which one is more likely? Also does anyone think the RAM might've killed it? I tried plugging the RAM in too with no CPU and its RGB turned on. Thanks, Alec

It was about 2 Years ago that my Computer got unusually hot during Summer, during intense gaming settions my CPU started hitting upto 80-90°C. Which was very freightening to me since it normally never got any hotter then about 50-60°C (and i have my CPU since mid 2014). So i started looking deeper into my BIOS settings and getting back into overclocking... I noticed that although i had never changed anything in the Voltage department, my CPU core Voltage was hitting up to 1.44V, on the (Auto) setting! Also its just exceding its Powertarged (sometimes up to 150w) although it is set at 88wTDP Looking at forum Post of other 4790k users their auto Voltages usually would be around 1.15V so MUCH lower. After reading some more and watching some Overclocking guides I figured since my Mainboard didnt really seem to know what it was doing i would just set all my important Bios settings manually (Like Vcore, RingV ect). Lowering it to 1.25Vcore and 1.12 RingV has basicly been stable for the last two years and even granted me a bit of an overclock to 4.5Ghz. Now after two years i m still woundering what causes my Mainboard to set the Auto Voltage to 1.44V tho... I am just a bit worried that i might damage the Cpu by having it run at 1.25V all the time (for some reason the Voltage Offsetoptions are greyed out) and want to adjust the Voltage so it can relax a bit when its not under load... So i tried flashing a new BIOs onto my Mainboard, version F7 to be exact (the newer ones only seem to adress Gen5 Cpus), but that didnt change anything... Anyone have ideas whats going on or what i might want to change in my Bios? PC specs: CPU: i7-4790k cooled with a Noctua NH-D15 MB: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD3H (rev1.0) RAM: 24gb 1600mhz (2*8gb, 2*4gb, i know i m weird) GPU: GTX 1080 Palit PSU: BeQuiet Dark Power 11 750w For the Screenshot below i just set my Vcore back to auto and hit run on cinebench for 5 Secs...

Hello everyone, I don't know why this happens. I look in YouTube others CPU temperature is between 50 to 70 degrees in these games. I have tried almost everything but still the same. I reset my windows deleting everything and reinstalling Windows, changed the thermal paste, got a new CPU dual fan cooler, tried some tips from YouTube to solve this problem but nothing changed. Almost in every game my temperature is higher than those in YouTube by 10 to 20 degrees. IF SOMEONE COULD HELP I'LL MUCH APPRECIATE IT. best regards SQuAD_BOy

So I've recently got a 10700k and a ASUS Z490-E, up from a 7700k and a Z270-F which had roughly the same problem. The problem is is that with benchmark scores, whether overclocked or not, they are always quite a bit lower than other people's scores. For instance, 3DMark timespy puts me in the bottom 15% with similar hardware, and Cinebench R23 puts me at 1500 points below similar hardware. I'm wondering what could be going wrong. I'm running stock config at the moment to try and figure this out before I start overclocking. As a side note, my temps are well in below 65 under full sustained load, and no thermal throttling or power throttling according to XTU. The only motherboard options I have changed is enabling XMP for 2666mhz, but tests were ran before XMP as well and that barely made any difference. Any suggestions at all? Thanks. I'm quite stumped on what could be causing this on two separate processors and motherboards. Memory or power are my only ideas, but I'm no where near the rated limit of my PSU right now. FULL SPECS: CPU - Intel i7 10700k GPU - ASUS GTX 1080 STRIX OC Memory - Corsair Vengeance LPX 8x4 2666mhz PSU - EVGA Supernova G3 750w 80+ Gold Motherboard - ASUS Z490-E STRIX

I purchased a couple of new hard drives. I flashed to the latest version of the BIOS to 0803 for this mobo from 0303 but the BIOS settings are essentially night and day difference. Loading defaults results in my PC not being bootable. I also have custom RAM settings in the original bios which I tried to change with no difference. I tried contacting Asus support but they remained silent. There's no documentation online whatsoever. The online (and electronic manual) still shows the original BIOS settings not the new one. I tried searching online with no success on what each of the [new] settings do which are not obvious (to me). I'm choked how Asus can offer BIOS updates without documentation to follow.

So I'm trying to round out my system through upgrades right now, and since graphics cards from this gen are nonexistent on shelves or sites, I'm thinking a memory upgrade would be small and easy. I have 2400mhz ram in it now because that's what I could get my hands on like a year or two ago, but since I went and got a 9700k for my z390 board I'm thinking that it might need higher speeds to do a bit better overall. I remember hearing about Intel locking mem speeds on some chips at some point in the last 6 months or so, but I don't exactly remember which they were, what gen, or otherwise. My questions: 1, is the 9700k's max memory speed locked at 3000 mhz or below, or is it fine to go with higher speed? 2, if I can go higher speed, should I buy 3200 mhz or aim for 3600 mhz ram, and has either gotten cheap enough to go 32gb instead of 16gb? Finally, is it even worth upgrading my ram at all on this processor? I feel like it's fine where it is with xmp and a mild clockspeed oc but I don't know if higher speed ram even benefits me at all for it to be worth it. Thx for the help and advice in advance.
