Hi all. I've been having a heating problem with my custom PC for a while. The gist of the problem is that the heat of my CPU gets incredibly high (like, between 85-100°C high) for no apparent reason. I'll have Discord and a couple of Chrome tabs open, or just one app, and my fans start blowing extremely loud, with my performance also lagging. I'll check Task Manager, and displayed performance will be normal, something like 1-4% CPU usage. However, the CPU will get so hot, sometimes it thermal throttles. At one point, I replaced the thermal paste and blew out any dust, and the problem persisted. This continued for a while, and then completely disappeared for over a year for seemingly no reason. I was able to run multiple apps and a game at once with no issues. However, it's recently shown up again. Through testing, here's what I've discovered: My AIO seems to work. It makes funny noises sometimes, but I've checked, and at these high temps, both tubes feel like they have water flowing, and one is hot while the other is cool. I've also checked fans, they blow a good amount of cool air out of the top, and the radiator doesn't seem especially hot either. Again, this isn't a result of pushing my PC too hard. This pretty much never happens when I'm doing especially challenging things like running VR games or several applications at once, only at low workloads. Likely not a result of misreadings, as both the area around the CPU and one of the AIO tubes get warm. Anyone have any idea what's going on? My specs are as follows: Ryzen 7 5800X MSI SUPRIM RTX 3070 Ti 32GB 3800mhz Trident Z RAM MSI MPG B550 GAMING PLUS motherboard Lian Li GALAHAD 240mm AIO Help would be much appreciated! EDIT: Might also be important to mention that these aren't spikes: Immediately from boot, temps on several sensors go up to 85+ and stay like that.

So i built my gaming pc about 6 months ago and i have been using linux to game. Everything has been pretty good but linux has been having problems for me because there isn’t a lot of games that work great on linux and I can’t just have that on a daily basis where I just want to sit down and just game. So i went ahead and installed windows 11 on my pc. The installation went good (though i had to use a lan cord for wifi because the wifi drivers were not installed). At first I was freaking out because my resolution was super low, I still couldn’t access wireless Wi-Fi, and I had no sound and a couple other problems. Then I remembered I needed to install the drivers so I went ahead on AMD‘s website and installed the necessary drivers for my GPU and then I can finally change my resolution and I finally had sound. I then installed the motherboard drivers (gigabyte) which gave me wireless Wi-Fi as well as installing other drivers and it updated my bios as well. I was really nervous at first when I had all those problems but finally I solved it and now I am ready to game. I went ahead and installed steam, GOG galaxy, epic games launcher, and ubisoft connect and i also installed Alan Wake 2 (on epic games launcher), Assassin’s Creed Mirage (on ubisoft connect), and Black Ops 3 (on steam). I first wanted to play Black Ops 3 so I booted it up and I immediately went to the graphics settings to set those graphics all the way up but I saw that the resolution was actually higher than my display resolution which was weird so I went ahead and lowered it to my display resolution (which is 4k) and then immediately Black Ops 3 had a black screen with the sound just playing. I then went to Steam and press the stop button to quit Black Ops 3 but that didn’t work so I had to close down steam itself and eventually Black Ops 3 closed. I thought that was very weird and I tried opening up Black Ops 3 again and it wouldn’t even open up at all and I think it also gave me a error (i don’t remember). So I then tried Alan Wake 2 and that booted up but it then froze right when it went to fullscreen and I can only see the developer logo. I then had to reset my pc to close the game. I then tried out Assassin Creed Mirage and the exact same problem happened where when starting it up it would freeze right on the policy text. I didn’t know what to do and I was really pissed so I did a complete reinstall of Windows 11 thinking maybe because I updated my bios and it just needed a complete reinstall. So I did just that and did all of the steps that I did which was set up windows 11 and install the GPU and motherboard drivers. I then went ahead and just installed Steam and try out Half-life. Half-life was working completely fine though when pressing escape to pause the game it was a little bit of a delay. Then I had hope but when trying out Tomb Raider 2013 it opened up fine but I saw that my FPS was low so I went ahead and go to the graphic settings and my refresh rate was at 24 so once I bring it up to 60 the game went to a black screen and then it froze on the settings. I tried backing out and closing the game but some reason closing the game in Steam doesn’t work and I had to quit steam again. I tried it again and it gave me an error but after resetting my PC and trying it again I went to Tomb Raider and my refresh rate was still low so I had to go to the settings and bring it up and it did the exact same thing as earlier. Other problems I have is some apps won’t open like my AMD driver app which won’t open at all but I see that it’s open in the background because on the bottom right when I press the arrow it tells you which apps are open or not and it is open but I don’t see it. Sometimes my motherboard driver app doesn’t open but sometimes it does. Anyway I really am pissed off because I thought I wouldn’t have any problems when switching to windows to play my games but instead I’m having more problems than ever and man I just want to go ahead and sit down and play my games. Sorry this post is pretty long but i want to give all the details and i probably forgot some stuff but these are the issues that I am having on the top of my head. Now I’m pretty tech savvy but I can’t put my finger on why I’m having all of these problems. Please someone help me. System Info: Ryzen 7 5800X3D Radeon RX 6700 XT 16GB 2400MHz Memory 1x 2TB NVMe SSD 2x 2.5" 1TB SSD(s) So I felt like I've been having issues with my CPU possibly underperforming [overheating?] since I built it in mid-2023. Dragon's Dogma 2 has been the latest thing to push my PC and I wanted to check my CPU temps to see how it was performing and it was showing a very small negative number in C°. I restarted my PC and it seemed to fix it and I went forward. Since then it's had similar issues and restarting stopped fixing it but it wasn't really effecting performance so I've been ignoring it. Since then I've reinstalled Ryzen Master and Adrenalin but both are showing impossible values. I checked in bios and it was showing very normal temps so I have no idea what's going on.

A LIL BACKSTORY - I've been wanting to get into 3D design, video editing, and other media design programs as well lately. I already have good RAM (G.Skill Trident Z Neo 32 GB (2 x 16 GB)), and I thought why not get another set and fill all 4 slots and not have to worry about not having enough memory. I understand I don't necessarily need it but I'm in a position where I can spend the money on more RAM. THE MAIN thing is when I installed the RAM, my PC booted up fine and all was well until some programs would randomly shut down all in unison, and that would happen every few minutes or so. Then my PC would just crash and I'd get the blue screen of death. Then I'd turn the PC back on and it would boot and run Windows fine then 5-10 minutes later it would just crash again and I'd be rewarded with another blue screen. The same thing kept happening till I turned my PC off, unplugged it, and took out the RAM I had just installed and now my PC has been fine ever since. The thing is though, I want that RAM in my PC. I haven't tried to install it again, so I wanted to come here for some advice/help. PC parts list here -> https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HfLKQP I thought it could be something to do with the PSU? (not sure if this is necessary information but I've got the PC internals, mouse, keyboard, and 2 monitors plugged in. - just in case it has something to do with PSU that's what's plugged in.)

Hey there fellow PC enthusiasts. I'm looking for a direct upgrade to my current system specs but the more i look things up, the less i get an idea of what to do. I am not looking to build an entirely new system but simply trying to figure out if it would be best to upgrade my CPU (and mobo + RAM) first or upgrade my GPU. I've been researching for months and can't seem to find any conclusion, which is why i am asking here. (Reddit wasn't very helpful either...) Current specs: intel core i7-8700K @ 4.7Ghz all core be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 2x 8GB DDR4-2400 MSI GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X Trio (11GB VRAM) be quiet! Straight Power 11 850W 80+Gold Any help is very much appreciated. Edit: I am located in Belgium and looking for the most cost-effective direct upgrade. I don't really have a set budget, but if it proves to be better to build a new system and sell my current one (or components), i will probably need some recommendations around the €1500 mark. Edit 2: Dual monitors - 24" 1080p144 + 27" 1440p180 Edit 3: €1000 pricepoint also in consideration.

For the past 2-3 months I've had an issue where my CPU will randomly drop to 0.4 GHz even though it's nowhere near overheating and is on full battery. I've tried and tried again to fix the issue but cannot find any solutions. Laptop Specs: Model Name: Lenovo Ideapd Gaming 3 15ACH6 - Type 82K2 AMD Ryzen 5600H 16 GB RAM @ 3200Mhz Nvidia Geforce 1650 Max Q Normally: In Games: The max CPU temp that Lenovo has set is 80 degrees. The issue only seems to happening in games, I have no idea why. I've seen intel users have the exact same problems and solutions for those included ThrottleStop which isn't available for AMD CPUs. I've tried resetting Windows, installing Windows from a fresh ISO, updating my BIOS, reinstalling my graphics drivers and nothing has worked.

So I want to get an xlr audio mixer for my microphone. Thing is I can't get one that connects to my PC via USB as all of my USB and USB-c ports are populated by things I can't remove. That being said I don't know any audio mixers that can connect to my PC via Aux so I was hoping to get some help on this. I am not at my PC rn but if anyone needs me to get a picture of what ports I have I can get that later.

Budget (including currency): 15 000 sek ( 1400 USD ish) Country: Sweden Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming and browsing. I play games like Helldivers 2, fortnite and valorant etc. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I currently have a very shitty prebuilt pc and I'm in a despearate need of an upgrade. I'm thinking of buying these parts: CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600 Graphics card: Gigabyte Radeon RX 7700 XT 12GB Gaming OC Chassi: Phanteks Eclipse G360A Motherboard: ASUS TUF GAMING B650-PLUS WIFI RAM: Corsair Vengeance 32 GB (2x16GB) SSD: Kingston KC3000 M.2 2TB Power supply: GIGABYTE UD750GM CPU cooler: DeepCool AG400 Is this a good build within my budget? I don't know anything about computers, I just want the games I play to run smoothly with good graphics. I have two monitors. I'm gonna upgrade my current monitor i use for gaming as well. I'm propably gonna buy a 144hz monitor but i'm not sure if I should go for 1440p or 1080p. Will this build be able to handle 1440p with decent fps?

So, I am working on a server build at work. We purchased 3 ProLiant servers with standard riser chassis. However we needed more then a single PCI express riser, so we purchased the additional riser kits to add 2 more PCI express slots into our primary riser. We are only running 1 CPU at 128 PCI express lanes(plenty for what we need). Where I am neeeing help is the cabling within the chassis. We are able to get the first additional riser (blue cabling) to work in the chassis it is plugged into ports 7 & 13 ref attached images. However when we try to add the third riser (top riser with yellow cabling) into the server, we keep getting a “Improper Cable Order in Slot 1 or 2 error”. I was just hoping someone more knowledgeable could help explain HPEs weird new changes in gen 11 with these new NVME/ PCI express ports and which ports I should be plugging into with a single CPU configuration.

Budget (including currency): ~$500 ideally minimized as much as possible without relying on local sellers Country: USA, have microcenter nearby Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Excel, Jira, light gaming (Riot Games) Other details Existing Parts: CPU: Ryzen 7 3800X AIO: Corsair H60 74.4 CFM ** have an old wraith cooler if size is too contstricting GPU: Asus STRIX GAMING GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11 GB Hey all, recently upgraded my main system and I'm looking to build a little work pc to have at my business. Currently, i just buy a cheap $200 laptop every couple of years but with how we've scaled and the amount of time I now spend on the little laptop I want to have something a touch more reliable. Ideally want to keep the cost around $500 but have some wiggle room. Really would like to make it as small as possible ideally mini Atx or ITX which I'm sure is a bit hard with the aio. I don't mind ditching that and having the unused Wraith cooler if dimensions allow for that. Any input would be helpful! Maybe some added useful context, i don't work from home. The scaling of the business has increased the time i need to spend on some sort of computer and I've increasingly grown tired of a barely working laptop or trying to do these tasks on an iPad. A throwaway laptop made sense when it would be booted a handful of times a month but now not so much.

So ever since I got a new desktop replacement for my old laptop I have been running into issues with the mic input jacks both on the motherboard and front panel. When I plug in my headphones Windows detects them but with barely any input, I cranked up the volume of the mic to 100% in Windows settings and have to talk really loudly for it to pick up my voice. When I recorded myself testing it at full volume all I hear was this really annoying buzzing/static sound and a very like far away from the mic type of voice. The output jack (Headphone jack) works just fine. I thought "Huh maybe my headphone connector has a loose or broken wire in the plug" yeah that's not the problem cause I used my phones audio jack and it just works. Idk if my drivers are bad but when I tried installing a new version of the same drivers (some Realtek High Definition Audio driver) it failed to install. I have no idea if i have to install some kind of AMD driver (laptop was an Intel platform) on the desktop, but I truly don't know what kind of sorcery was used in this build but its annoying. P.s. posting my specs (might help): Ryzen 5 5600x; Gigabyte A520M K V2 (rev. 1.0); Gigabyte RTX 4060 WINDFORCE OC 8G

Hello There, So this is my last resort cause I was not able to find much useful and working info on this on the web. So I have a gaming laptop and the specs are as follows: HP - 15-ec2xx CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800H Graphics 1: RTX 3050 mobile, Memory: 4GB GDDR6 SDRAM Graphics 2: (Integrated) AMD Cezanne - Internal GPU, Memory: 512 MB DDR4 SDRAM RAM: 32GB DDR4 So my issues are: Whenever I start a game (GTA5 and RDR), the RTX graphics card or AMD card is used. I won't use the RTX card often and that makes the CPU go nuts it takes most of the game load and overheats. To make sure I am not making any other cooling mistakes. I made sure to clean my laptop and also did a repaste, the temps did improve and reduced quite a bit but the GPU issues persist. The second issue I have is that I am not able to train any AI&ML models, I know that 4GB is a pretty low amount of RAM to do any AI&ML training but it's also more than enough to train a few small models to manage quite minute tasks. and I use Python Torch for basic AI&ML training and torch won't acknowledge the RTX GPU nor the AMD GPU and tries to build/train the model using the CPU. What I did to tackle this: I tried a multitude of driver options and also installed dev support for my GPU. I tried installing Ubuntu in duel boot and tried running my training model on that but the same issue persists. I tried using other libraries to train the models and they also failed to detect the GPUs. I tried installing any drivers I found and ran all the tests, but none worked. I tried the Nvidia-utils to detect I have the GPU present and that worked. What should I do? What can I do? How can I determine the issue?

I bought the NZXT player one model, this is my first pc. I have watched tons of videos from LTT and other popular tech content creators. Ever video I have seen says to enable XMP. Here are the specs of the pre build: CPU Intel® Core™ i5-12400F GPU NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3050 Memory 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR5 5200 MHz Motherboard B760 Storage 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD PSU 650W Gold Is there any conflict with the motherboard or anything that would make turning on XMP cause any harm or slowly damage something?

My gpu fan will wiggle back and forth then won’t move I’ve tried to spin it with my hand to see if it would work but nothing any reason this would happen and how to fix it

Budget (including currency): £2200 (British Ppunds) Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming only Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Putting together a new build and looking for any advice/feedback. I've been PC gaming for years but this is my first time not using a system builder and building myself, want to make sure I'm not making any mistakes. This will be used exclusively for gaming, on a 27" 1440p monitor. I am in budget, but if there are any changes that would be better made, like going with a i7 over an i5 and changing something else to balance costs, I'm open to suggestions. Admittedly some of the choices are for aesthetics, like the white gpu/fans and cooler. ***Massive wall of text incoming but I beg you guys, hear me out and help a guy out, I'm going insane here.*** So.. A few days ago a friend of mine was upgrading from his 2070 and asked if I wanted his old 2070, and since I still had the good 'ol GTX 970 I jumped at his offer. Basically straight away I noticed massive FPS drops in pretty much every game I tested, everything from games like Escape from Tarkov, Apex Legends, Fortnite.. hell, even EA Sports PGA Tour to games like Tibia, a game that you could run on a PC from '96. I've spent the last 4-6 days Googling my ass off, been trying maybe 50 "fixes" by now but nothing has worked.. From all the searching I've done I've noticed that it seems to be a pretty common problem with certain GPU's that they get massive FPS drops for whatever reason. First I found a guy that at first sounded like he had the exact same problem as me, he went from a 970 to a 2070 and his theory was that the FPS drops was caused by the fact that he now had a main monitor with displayport at 144hz and his second monitor now had a hdmi with 60hz since he no longer could use his DVI cable since the "new" gpu only had display/hdmi ports and his second monitor was only able to run 144hz with DVI just like mine.. I tested everything people said in that thread but nothing helped, I even disconnected my second monitor just to see if that would fix my FPS drops, but no. Found some other guy on reddit that said he downloaded "nvidiaProfileInspector" and switched a setting from "single display performance mode" to "Multi display performance mode" which did nothing for me. And yes, I've updated BIOs, Nvidia drivers, disabled Nvidia Sound Drivers, turned off all weird Windows settings you can think of all from game bar, game mode, power settings and you name it, shut down iCUE, Afterburner, Xbox Apps... I even re-installed windows 10 but nothing seems to work. I've changed PCIe slots and cable aswell, I'ill drop my PC speccs down below. - ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-F GAMING - MSI GeForce RTX 2070 Armor 8GB - Intel Core i7 9700K 3.6 GHz 12MB - Noctua NH-D15 - Corsair HX850 850W - Corsair 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3000MHz CL15 Vengeance - Samsung 970 EVO 1TB - Random Old HDD 2TB - Windows 10 Home - Asus 27" LED G-Sync ROG SWIFT PG278Q - BenQ XL2411T 24" / 1ms / HDMI, DVI / 144Hz ______________________________ I even posted this on a Swedish "tech forum" and only one guy answered there asking me if I was using Gsynk and told me to turn it off and see if that helps.. and it kinda did, somewhat, I'ill post a Video here how it looks in Afterburner while I got Gsynk on. (as soon as I turn it off it stops 'jumping' like that) but even if turning off Gsynk helped some, I still get those weird FPS drops way too often so I'm sure something is still off.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCoUEwrHYBM ______________________________ I even did a 'Overclocking Scan' in MSI Afterburner and this is the result I got, that said I know NOTHING about clocking and you should talk to me like I'm 5 years old with stuff like this, never had a problem even close to this shit and I've been PC gaming since '99. 22:20:45 Connected to MSI Afterburner control interface v2.3 22:20:47 GPU1 : VEN_10DE&DEV_1F02&SUBSYS_37341462&REV_A1&BUS_2&DEV_0&FN_0 22:20:47 Start scanning, please wait a few minutes 22:47:02 Scan succeeded, average core overclock is 89MHz, memory overclock is 200MHz 22:47:02 Dominant limiter 22:47:02 Voltage 22:47:02 Results are considered unstable 22:47:03 Overclocked curve exported to MSI Afterburner ______________________________ Found out about HWiNFO64 from a dude on Reddit and I did one log with G-synk activated and one log without G-synk activated while playing a round of Fortnite, I'd love if someone could take a look at them and maybe see whats up, maybe its not even my GPU that is broken? This is basically chineese for me so if you're still with me by now after that wall of text, I salute you and I hope you got some tips for me, thanks. Really. Hi forum. I'm trying to decide between the University of Colorado Boulder and Purdue University. My major is Aerospace Engineering. I love both campuses and the classes I saw. Obviously CU has a nicer surrounding area but it also seems like Purdue has newer facilities. I was accepted into Purdue honors so that's a big draw for me and I'm still waiting on CU honors. If anyone has any experience with this stuff I'd love the advice/help. Which campuses are better? Does one offer something that the other doesn't? What about student outcomes and experiences not covered in their websites? Everyone I talk to at each school says they love it so I'm not worried about making a 'wrong' choice but obviously I want to make a good choice for the next 4 years. Hopefully it doesn't come down to a coin toss! Thanks!

Greetings, I recently have purchased a Steelseries stratos+ controler due to it having USB c for charging. I wanted to use it with my PC by utilizing a Bluetooth dongle. However while waiting for the delivery I found out that it doesn't support Wireless connection with Windows. Is there any walk-around to be able to use it wirelessly with Windows?
