Hi, i was asking myself if any of you guys in the LinusTechTips Forum would be interested in grouping up and doing some games in Halo 5 Windows 10 when it comes out September 8th? I could make a Discord so everybody who wants to play Halo 5 on PC could find someone there to play with. Also could be nice to do some tournaments in custom games or just playing silly gamemodes. I know its still early to ask this (also we dont know if the PC port will be any good) but still i really miss the fun of a good Halo Custom Game (Been a couple of years i didn't played Halo i left Console for PC.) And I hope this Windows 10 port will let us do so. If any of you are interested it would be great!

Would you recommend getting the elite controller or Halo 5 controller? The Elite is obviously a better controller, however I really like the aesthetics of the Halo 5 controller and also it is a limited addition I believe. What would you recommend?

Installation 01 is a game being created by a team of developers who are not affiliated with Microsoft, they are doing this under Microsoft's fair use policy. I just downloaded and played Halo Online. WOW Halo on my PC. FINALLY!!! I've wanted to play later halo games on my PC for so long. Finally I am able to. It was really fun. It is a beta and modded thing so while the game ran well there were problems. One annoying one was how the controls would decide to just go back to default even though it shows that it's changed. OMG annoying! Some crashes but nothing to serious. Play it if you want to try it out. Pretty awesome. -
So basically I'm having issues with playing Halo 3 MCC. This is what happens and it's very weird because it only happens with Halo 3 online. I'll be playing, sometimes 10 seconds into the game, sometimes 5 minutes into the game. The time will stop, players will just move forward, then a few seconds later i'll go to a black screen, then the screen where it shows everyone in the game, then i'll respawn. and this will repeatedly happen ALL game long. Now, My setup is a Arris modem configured to be a modem/router, and a Netgear router (only set up for wireless devices.) My Xbox/Computer is hardwired to the Arris Modem/router. Before I had a different ancient modem and still had this problem. I got this modem 2 months after I bought my xbox one, hoping it would fix this problem but it didn't. I called up Xbox support and I was brought to networking and then he was going through trying to create a DMZ for my xbox, but it wouldn't accept it, then he tried port forwarding my xbox then I got the error "couldn't get a toretto IP adress" when I delete the port forwards, I can play without getting that error. The xbox support person has told me that my Modem isn't working properly so I requested a new one. But this doesn't make sense to me because even with the old modem I had this problem. Would love some suggestions or even i've heard of people who have had this problem, some have fixed it some have not.

Hey guys, I just wanted to share this awesome game with you. It's basically a port of Halo 3 for PC, but it has been developed by ElDewrito and Anvil Online. I'm setting up a Halo: Combat Evolved LAN tournament. It's going to be 2 vs. 2. I'm having trouble getting two test computers (one that I'm going to use and a back up computer) to work. At the moment when I set up a LAN game on either system it doesn't show up in the LAN lobby menu. I have the computers wired together with a switch and I have tried wiring them directly. I have all the network settings at default and the build I am working with is "01.00.04.0607". Any help would be appreciated thank you.

Microsoft to launch free-to-play "Halo Online" in Russia. A new Halo game will be launched in Russia for a closed beta term, similar to what Activision has done with its Call of Duty Online beta that was released in China. Halo Online is a PC-only game which is not expected to be on the Xbox One. It will feature a free-to-play multiplayer experience (which has been a hit or miss with online shooters trying to avoid "pay-to-win") where SPARTAN-IVs train together to gain better skills and test experimental technology. Microsoft says that the game, based on a modified Halo 3 engine, will be capable of running on low-end PCs. Given the nature of F2P, it's not surprising that they aren't aiming to renew the Halo experience, but to introduce new fans to the Halo universe. At first glance, the game looks like it relies on some "pay-to-win" features where weapons are featured in loadout. However, with further examination, you can see that it only affects your starting loadout at spawn, as you can pick up other players' weapons. The most important factor is that multiple types of the same weapon are not actually pure upgrades; rather, they have been balanced to counter the bonuses within themselves so that you may have stronger damage output but a slower rate of fire and high recoil. The weapons are also on a rent scheme where you cannot keep the weapon past a certain amount of time, allowing you to pick up a weapon cheaply for 30 minutes to play a quick session without requiring you to invest 200 hours in the game to obtain it for use. This also combats the "pay-to-win" system that has plagued F2P games where putting in real money can reduce the tens of hours required to obtain a worthy item. So why is Russia being targeted for this beta? Microsoft may be trying to capture a new audience that is not used to buying full console or PC games. Releasing a paid Halo game on PC might interest current Halo fans, but also may be overlooked by others as yet another first-person shooter. With F2P being popular in Russia, it could be a good testing ground to bring new fans into the Halo universe, especially since Microsoft is investing heavily to incorporate the Halo franchise into their desktop and mobile operating systems. So as you guys may have heard on the interwebs, a build of build of the Russian "Halo Online" has been leaked. So i took the liberty of trying it out, and I have to say, from a gameplay perspective, and the build I played in the videos below. It's basically Halo 3 with Halo 4 skins. I think this shows that is is very capable for 343 to release Halo titles on the PC. Maybe it's a step into the PC marketplace with Halo? Maybe they are not going to develop another console generation (maybe due to the huge losses at the launch of each console generation). You don't let your flagship title go to another platform for no reason. I am not excited for the FTP side of this Halo Online, I wish they would give us a real Halo title. Also, please excuse the awkward transitions between the maps, I had to use some third party software to force load the maps. So what do you guys think? Please note, there is no multiplayer, the game treats the maps like I am loading a singleplayer level. The footage is of me testing the maps, weapons, and vehicles. No multiplayer, sorry. My name is Nick Romick. I’m the producer of the non-commercial Open Movie Project, ‘Galactic Battles’. The film is technically classified as a Fan-Film, and features ships and characters from Star Trek, Star Wars, Mass Effect and Halo. This mashup film will pit the franchises against each other, as well as build alliances with each other in one intense inter-galactic battle. We are going to take this one step further, by introducing live action, including the Mass Effect character of Commander Shepard being played by Mark Meer. This project means a lot to me and the Project Team, as we love Sci-Fi, Visual Effects and are very passionate about what we do. We have put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this project so far, and we plan on putting a lot more into it. I would like to know which halo in the series was your favorite and why. I would like to see your responses and one or a couple good reasons why it is your favorite over the others. Personally Reach is my favorite because it had the best forging mode and character customization.

my absolute fondest memories are of my friends and me playing Halo or smash brothers together on the couch, laughing our asses off at the ridiculous stuff we would do and the funny game types we would make up. Now that I'm almost twenty years old, the fact of the matter is that things haven't changed. Sure, it's cool and all to be able to have the whole screen to one's self, but it just isn't anywhere near as friendly or fun. The best part of local multiplayer was that a person wasn't just playing another online game for stats, they were having a good time with their friends in the same room. When people do system links in which EVERYONE gets their own screen, It just stops being fun. At that point, you might as well have played online in different households. Now when I invite my friends over, we're almost exclusively limited to older games which supported four player local splitscreen. While these games are fun, we'd all enjoy playing new games as well. The most jarring news concerning local splitscreen, at least for me, is for Halo 5. Sure, everyone can hate on halo for becoming another call of duty, but Halo 5's beta truly seemed to turn that preconception around. I was honestly looking forward to getting the game for two reasons, the campaign and local splitscreen with my friends. When 343 announced that local splitscreen was being left out in favor of maintaining 60 FPS, I was honestly mad. The whole point of console was the different experience. Sure, I could play halo on my PC with insane graphics and a high frame rate, but then I couldn't have my friend sitting next to me as I beat him in king of the hill by driving a tank onto his head from above. On console, I could have him or her there with me, and it would be more fun than it ever could have been on PC despite lowered frame rate or graphics quality. Losing this in games, regardless of reason, is something that seriously sucks for me. I'm not big on the competitive online scene anymore, and I feel like I'm losing one of the things that kept me in gaming. Oh well, at least fallout 4 is coming, and that can't be ruined by removing local multiplayer. -

Halo 5 Guardians: Lots of details and in-game material

Well, since gaming news is fair game for this section I figured I would give a fairly popular game a proper news post. Hell, if we're going to have gaming in Tech News, might as well do it right. Game Informer got a LOT of details ahead of the E3 reveal, most of which revolved around playing a campaign mission and getting some backstory on the events leading up to Halo 5s storyline. Looks like Blue Team is back (read the books, they're awesome, or go to Halopedia to learn more). There is just so much information that is bulletpointed below: Halo 5 will launch with 20 maps on disc, 15 more as DLC. But wait, FREE DLC! You heard that right. Free. Free maps. All being launched over a period of 9 or so months. Thats pretty awesome. We will have at least 35 maps for free, who knows how many more. They are also set to reveal a BTB evolved game type. Halo Reach was supposed to have something called "Global War" or something to that effect, maybe 343 is bringing it here. Battlefield + Halo + Republic Commando squad commands? Yes please. Has anyone experienced the insane amount of lag on this game? My friend and I played Halo CE anniversary campaign and the lag is ridiculous. I know its not my connection because I have been playing games with my friend for 4 years now on this connection and no game has ever had problems with the internet connection. He only lives 5 minutes away. Just to confirm the issue was with the game I played it with my other friend and same issue. I know the game had problems when it came out but I find it rather annoying. My connection is 22Mb/s down and 2.5Mb/s up. I love Halo campaigns and I was so hyped to play the campaigns again. I will play with it despite the lag.
