I'm kind of a collector of older systems, and I have just gotten my hands on a Mac Mini G4. It works fine for the most part, but it's HDD is absolutely puny in my opinion (40 GB). I have looked online, and have found an option that allows people to take an NVME card and convert it into a PATA compatible drive. I also am thinking about replacing the Superdrive with an SSD to IDE converter and plopping a 250 GB Intel SSD drive in it. I don't know if this will work for the Mac at all. Has anyone tried this, and if so, is it even worth the trouble? I'm seriously modding out this system so the only thing I'm gonna be keeping the same is the OS and it's mainboards. System specs: 1 GB SD RAM 40GB Hitachi HDD (Wanting to replace with the NVME to PATA connector) Mobile IDE Superdrive (Wanting to replace with Intel SSD) Apple G4 PPC logicboard Model Number: A1103 (2005 Mac Mini)

Hello. So, I'am in need of a new smartphone, and decided to go with ASUS, but not sure which version of their newest ASUS ZENphone compares the closest if not better to my older one, LG G4, the LG G4 was a really good phone I had, shame it died. :c Any recommendations that could live up to the LG G4 specs or close to it enough?

Powermac G4 no chime; no display
Bruce boy posted a topic in Linux, macOS and Everything Not-Windows
Hey, I have a Power mac G4 MDD, yesterday i was trying to install Leopard on it, it kept on saying things like "Install failed and couldn't verify "Essentials" package" and a bunch of others, i searched it up and some other forum told me to reseat my ram in different places and see how it goes, that didn't work, it kept on coming up with the same messages. So then i gave up on it for a day and now it has no chime, and no display. I have tried another AGP card, resat the ram in different positions, tried ram from another working system, and booted with no drives plugged in. Help is much appreciated. --Bruce -
Hi everyone, I think I might need some suggestions here on a problem I'm having with my office laptop, a HP250 G4. A few days ago I started having this issue: when I press the power button, the CPU fan skyrockets to it's speed limit for about 60s without any display on the screen, then shutdown itself. Battery does not charge. Can't boot from battery only, the PC must be connected to the wall to power up. * Trying with HP support suggestions to discharge the PC by holding down power button and so on. Nothing changed. * Connecting the laptop to an external monitor. * Moving RAM sticks. Leaving only one. Switching to a brand new ram stick which is working on any other laptops I have. Removing both (nothing changed, not even a sound). * Removing the drive. Changing with another (both with a clean install or completely unformatted). * Dust cleaning .. * Resetting CMOS. Changed battery to a brand new one. From time to time (two times, actually) the PC did actually boot into windows properly. It could reboot and be shutdown and booted again properly.. but when I unplugged the cord once, it refused to boot again for about a day. This happened the second time as well (after a lot of tries), but actually isn't happening again. So.. suggestions?

Helolo everyone! I am wondering why do older PC's (e.g. Mac Mini G4 1GHz) run faster then a newer PC's(e.g. Lenovo 1GHz)?

I have an iMac G4 that I have been meaning to fix for a while, and in that time, it was sitting on the ground (roughly 6 months) opened up, which I know is a bad idea. I just got the motivation recently to try and fix it, as I personally believe it is the best machine Apple has ever created. (still trying to figure our why I let it sit on the ground for so long if I think it's their best computer) Basically, everything is hooked up, which I have double checked multiple times, but it won't boot. If it's plugged in and the power button is pushed, the fan will start spinning, but nothing else happens. The hard drive might be spinning, but if so it's indistinguishable from fan noise. According to the owner, it has some version of OS X installed (10.4 I think? I got it from someone else as a gift, and I can guarantee that it worked before I took it apart 6 months ago, but I needed to replace the drive for some reason I forgot) and it should be able to boot from that. The thing I'm having trouble understanding is what the issue is. It doesn't make any sounds, and I can't get any signs of life from a USB mouse or keyboard. It appears to not be posting, and I can't seem to figure out why. I tried taking out all the RAM to see if that gave me an error, but it did the exact same thing, which is nothing. (except turn on the fan) I have also tried connecting it to an external monitor with no luck. In a few days I plan on digging through my stuff and looking for some way of connecting to the hard drive with another computer, something like an IDE docking station. I still don't think it's the hard drive because it's not even giving an error when I remove the RAM, but at this point it's still worth a try. I would love to be able to fix this machine, because like I mentioned before, I love the design of this machine. Thanks for the help!

Hi all, I've not been having good luck with technology lately, with my laptop breaking recently. To add to this now, my LG G4 which I have owned since December 2015 has suffered from the LG bootloop problem, with it having gone to repair before for screen ghosting. I don't know whether it would be better to keep the phone (for maybe another 2/3 years, due to college), or cut my losses and sell my repaired phone and get something different. If I were to get a replacement, the budget would be around £250-300 (UK). In terms of specifications, I'd like something with good "bang for the buck" that could match or exceed the G4 in speed. I'd also like something with good battery life as that is something the G4 lacks. In terms of OS, Android would be fine (though I would like something that would get updated), but I am currently using a Lumia 520 as a backup phone, and I'm really enjoying using Windows Phone, so definitely either Android or Win10 (the thing about WP is the app support is lacking, but I'm starting to grow a little tired of Android) Screen size is something that I don't really have much preference on, but anything between 4.7 to 5.7 inches would be ideal. A few other requirements would be potentially: a good camera (as the G4's is frankly amazing), decent build quality, and fast charging. Most importantly of all, as I'll be moving to the USA in a few months' time, I need something that would be compatible with either AT&T or T-Mobile - this means that OnePlus is out of the question. Many thanks for your help!

hey if anyone can help I am getting an old dell and I do not like how it looks, but I really enjoy how the old graphite powermac g4 looks. I would manly like to know whether I can put an matx motherboard in it and also if there are any non-standard components that the power mac g4 (non-cube) has so I can put everything in. Thanks,

So I'm in the market for a new phone in the £200/$250 region (happy with HQ second hand or new condition) and have since narrowed my search down to two phones: The HTC One M9 And the LG G4. The LG G4 is a better speced phone, from what my research has uncovered, as well as having a better, bigger screen and a far superior camera from some shoot outs I saw. But the HTC is a more sexy phone, I think, with a really nice design and better front facing speakers, as well as being a slightly smaller phone which is a bonus for me. I can't decide and want to hear anyone who reads this's opinion on the matter, or if I've missed an obviously better phone at this mark, which is well possible as this is my first android buy, coming from Apple. Cheers, Xvantok. Note: The back options on the LG are irrelevant to me as I will just probably put a wrap on which ever phone I get.

I'm looking into buying a (possibly refurbished) G4, but I read up that there's a bootloop problem on certain devices, how do I know if it's safe or not? I've heard that serial numbers 505-509 and/or hardware revision 1.0 are the ones afflicted, but some people reported devices with the S/N 511/512 and HW revision 1.1 with said same problem. Should I be worried with just buying a certified refurbished device from amazon/ebay with this floating around? What should I look for to be safe?

Hello there LinusTechTips forum, I just opened up my forum user - was a puny youtube follower until now. I have an issue with my LG G4 : Today, I was casually using it, and while using it the screen froze for a good minute, and afterwards it shut down(by itself). I tried to boot it up afterwards, and it did the LG icon with the sound and all, however the screen turned black afterwards. I couldn't get a single response from the screen ever since, even while plugging the phone to the charger - I also tried to hard reset the phone by pulling the battery out of the phone and then place it back - with no avail. Is the phone fixable? Should I even bother fixing it, or should I just buy a new one? Thanks ahead, appreciate the effort : )

Having screen "flickering" at the bottom 1/3rd of monitor. I'm not sure if this is actual flicker or not as I'm not sure what this issue is called. It happens at the bottom 1/3rd of monitor. Recording with OBS does not pick up the issue, so I had to record with cellphone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4OsYrU-cq4 Specs: ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 motherboard I7 3770k processor GTX 970 G1 Gaming graphics card 16 GB GSkill Ripjaws X ram Dual 21:9 LG Ultrawide 29" monitors (2560 x 1080, 1920 x 1080) (I've tried both resolutions, and only using one monitor with the same results. Issue did not get worse at higher resolution.) Having this issue while in game and occasionally while on youtube; happens in all games, but desktop and videos are fine. Have tried setting vsync (on/off/adaptive) to no avail. Tried changing cables and ports on monitor as well as graphics card, with same result. Uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, rolled back drivers....no luck. Tried overclock, stock clock, and underclock; same result. Card was not overheating but I reapplied thermal paste. Came up empty. Bios is up to date.

Is anyone else having this issue? I tried multiple ''augmented reality'' games to check if the problem was limited to PoGo but all of them had the same issue. The camera is dark and unusable except when I'm using the main photo app that came with the phone.

Hello, My G4 won't turn on after being shut down for 5 hours on an airplane. There are no issues with it before, it just stopped working for no reason? I've tried taking out battery, holding power and vol etc. I really don't know what to do, I'm in Hawaii, and already off to a bad start.

I lost the cable that charges my lg g4, First things first, I understand how electronics work. I know that all micro usb cables are the same. But I always keep original packaging and stuff like the charger and cable for resale value, so does anybody know where I can get the micro usb cable that comes with the lg g4?

While browsing the internet, I found a pretty awesome deal on a G4 (selling my z3c for lower prices than most and it would cover the cost). I am wondering if its worth the hassle to sell off my Z3C and switch over to the G4. My phone is my camera for when I don't have my DSLR or for when I need 4k/slowmo and my texting/calling device (mostly used for the camera). I have a Tab S 8.4 as a device for homework and notes, and a Moto 360 to pair the phone with. I like that my phone is waterproof, but ultimately it isn't essential to me (I'm too scared to use it after my Z2 was killed by water with the flaps shut (got it back for warranty, sold it, and bought Z3c for the same price I sold Z2 for)). I use my phone for hotspotting so I need some battery. What I want the G4 for is the camera and battery (Android L killed the Z3, M didn't fix it well enough). What do you think, gents? Is it worth my time to sell off my Z3c and buy the G4? Should I wait it out and see if I can snag a deal on a V10 or G5? I am fairly proficient in Android modding and feel comfortable rooting and installing custom ROMs. My Z3c is currently on Sony's Concept beta for Marshmallow, while the G4 only has 5.1.1 from LG. but also has CM13.

Decide in those aspects! (And price won't differ much, as I'll get it over my contract) There are sadly no other options available (maybe the SG S6 edge+) Any added aspects? Write them down below!

hey guys i was looking to upgrade from my moto g second gen into a new phone. budget isn't a problem, the only thing is that i cant decide. preferably, the phone is in stock android, and i prefere "brand" names like Motorola or Lg due to warranty and availability. i would also like feedback if you have a phone and how you have found it. my main priorities are camera, front facing needs to be quite clear as im still a student and i snap quite alot. also the battery life is important. and also processor, as i multitask a lot. thanks for your help

Hey guys, I actually have an Nokia Lumia 925 and an Motorola Razr i and I'm planning to get a new phone on holidays here in Brazil. My preference to this moment is the LG G4 costing R$1.999,99 but it has the LG G3 costing about 35% less of the G4, at R$1.280 aproximately. Is still worth to get an G3 nowadays or should I wait and try to get more money to buy an G4? Thanks by now and sorry about my english

Amazon: http://geni.us/2rO3 NCIX: http://bit.ly/1K6LSeP LG's new G4 smartphone bears some striking similarities to their previous G3 model, but there may be more than meets the eye in this case...
