Hey! Its my first time trying to build a PC, if i could get your guys' input i'd really appreciate it! https://pcpartpicker.com/user/iceflame/saved/d44NGX So I would plan on using this for gaming and the occasional Adobe premier, Photoshop, illustrator, and so on (not that intense/ in detail). my limit would be ~$1000 if there are ways to chip away at some dollars, it'd be great. I was considering a i7 6700k, but a gtx 1070 is something I am firm about keeping. if there's ways to improve, i would love to hear it. Thanks!

Hello guys, hope you all have a great start for 2017. I've been saving up money for some time now and I'm finally ready to build myself a good pc. I've been playing with computers since i was 10 years old, my first pc was a 386, and I always had a low>mid type of computer. All the games I've played worked well on medium quality with an avrage of 30-40fps, so I'm used with avrage performance. I've watched a lot a youtube videos (mainly from linus) and read all sorts of articles about how you should build a pc. I have a basic level of knowledge, but beeing my first time i'm still a bit nervous and unsure. That's why I came here for help. My purpose is to obtain a performant desktop pc, that I could use years from now. I'm looking for a smart build, without spending ridiculous ammount of money. The computer will be used for video games (the desired quality level is High, I don't aim for Ultra settings for all the games) and Adobe programs (Illustrator, Photoshop, Premier, After Effects) because I'm a designer. I did some research for parts that would stay in my ~1700$ budget. Here are the specs: Case: NZXT S340 Razer Special Edition Procesor: i7 6700k - 40ghz Skylake Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 G1 - 6gb, DDR5, 192bit Motherboard: Asus Z170a RAM: Hyperx Predator black 16GB-DDR4-3000mhz-cl15 SSD: Intel 540S 240GB HDD: WD 1TB 7200rpm Powersource: Crosair VS650 Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 Now, I have some problems regarding the powersource, I'm not 100% sure about it. I did calculate the required power on the coolmaster website and various other, and it came up to 600w. A 650w powersource will do just fine? And the other one, I just saw the new Z2xx Asus boards and the new Kaby Lake processors. I read that the processors do not represent that big of a uppgrade in contrast with the 6700k, but i'm not that sure about the motherboard. If you have any advice or any opinion, do tell. It would really help me to hear the opinion of someone more experienced than me. Thank you, have a great day!

Hello All, This would be my first computer build since I was a Freshman in High School. That was the year 2000. SO, please give me your thoughts on the below parts list. Should I add something, change something? My main use for the PC will be gaming in 4k. I didn't go with a 6800 or 6850 because it appears the 7700 does quite a bit better on benchmarks. Also, even though, say, the 6850 has 40 lanes, this really wouldn't provide a noticeable improvement to the 2 1080s, correct? I'm scared as hell to buy all these parts and screw something up on the build man! Been a long time! Thanks for your thoughts/help guys! Qty. Hello Team, I am building a PC for the first time and I wanted your opinion and suggestions for the build. I am from Bangalore, India and I have to say that the prices in India are way expensive. Not sure if this build can be used for video editing (like making some basic videos on youtube). I will be using some basic editing software. Also, recommend a Basic but good backlit keyboard. Prefer to have a non-mechanical keyboard. Thanks, Sid

Hey guys! So I've been working on this project for the past few weeks. For a bit of background my girlfriend and I are both college students and are rather broke. We love playing video games together but she was very limited due to her rather slow school laptop. That's why I set out to build something aesthetically pleasing for a very low budget. Which is were a lot of calls, friends, and connections came in.... First off I'll start with the case mod: Cutting Started: The Inspiration: Now.....here was our first mess up.....: Exterior Paint: Window hole is cut and paint has been added: Mid Post Refresher: Graphics Card: Motherboard: Led Wiring: God I Hope They Look Good Inside.... God Bless....Let's Start Putting Everything: Problem Solved!: Let's Start Her Up!: But I Got It! Final Photo: Altogether I'm very happy with this project and I can't wait to do one for my own case. Overall I spent under 150$ for everything. There were some mess-ups and it's not perfect but.....she loves it! Bonus:

So I want to get into PC gaming. I've spent at least six months building up a Steam wishlist of games before deciding I want to make the purchase too. Looking at the recommended specs on the Steam pages, I think the most spec demanding game I want to play is GRIP: Recommended: OS: Windows 7 64bit or Newer Processor: 3.0 GHz+ Dual core Memory: 8 GB RAM Graphics: Nvidia 970 or Radeon 380 DirectX: Version 11 Storage: 4 GB available space I also saw this prebuilt on Amazon but thought it was too expensive: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MQTQMMJ/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I2TM6YXZ3OTAXK&colid=6O9LB34EHXGX What I want is a PC that can play games like GRIP and be able to record them. I figure I should meet the recommended specs for the game and then go a little higher so I can record while playing. I was wondering if it would be possible to build my own PC for cheaper than the Amazon example (I don't care about the aesthetics). I also think I can reuse my hard drive and dvd drive in my old PC (Optiplex 745). I also have a VX238 LCD monitor (1080p) I want to play on. If there is any other information I should share, let me know. If my dreams are too unrealistic, let me know. Thanks for reading this.

I got a Define Nano S and a silverstone 600w sfx but I haven't got the gpu yet...I was looking at the Asus Strix Gtx 1080ti 11g but I was afriad it might not fit since I see newegg specs; slot width as dual slot but when i hear reviews always refer it to 2.5 slot....if this card is not compatible with my case, can you guys point to a gpu, gtx 1080 ti varient, that not the founders. ..i want to keep it cool and quite...don't plan to OC https://pcpartpicker.com/list/dNDPHN

Hi All, I'm looking for some recommendations for my first budget gaming rig. I have done some PCs in the past but not one a gaming pc. So this will be my first attempt to do a gaming pc :). Basically following is my part list. Please note that this part list is for Australian market https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/nNvpJV I'll be mainly doing first person shooting games(CS GO, COD, Crysis etc) and car games (NFS, Dirt 3 etc) You will see that there are no Storage, Case and a monitor for this build. That is because I already got a ATX case, 120GB SSD(I know this is too low, this is only for the start ) and some TB worth of hard drives and a 27' Asus IPS display What is your take on this part list? Is there any other recommended part list you have for sub $600 range

Hello, Build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3bWgNN I was wondering if someone could please tell me if this is considered a "good" build. This is my first build and I am on a really tight budget. This computer is for really basic gaming but I don't know if this enough for a smooth gaming experience. Thanks

hey all! first off, sorry for shitty english.. i am currently rocking this setup: Intel Core I5 3570k - Coolermaster Seidon 120XL Asrock Z77E-ITX EVGA GTX 770 Superclocked ACX Kingston HyperX 16gb 1600 MHz XFX core PRO550W Bitfenix Prodigy Samsung 840 250gb SSD Kingston V300 120gb SSD 2tb HDD and for some time now i have been saving and wanting to do an upgrade. i have always been very interested in custom watercooling, but never had the guts or money to try it out. This i want to change! My plans for upgrade are as follows: change gpu to 1080 (havent decided which yet) change case to Phanteks Enthoo Evol Itx in white. I really want to make an all white/black build, with black fittings, clear tubing and white liquid. i want to make it as clean and esthetically pleasing as possible. some questions: if i want to go custom watercooling, should i just get the cheapest 1080 and throw on a waterblock? or should i still go for a decent 1080? Should i upgrade my 3570k and mobo too, to reduce bottlenecking, or can it still do enough to not hold back a 1080? thoughts and concerns? will make a build log if people want me to

Hello LTT community! I'm a 3D Animation & CGI student about to start his final year (if nothing goes wrong). The final year will involve the creation of a 30sec to 2min rendered movie (Using Renderman, Mental Ray or Unreal Engine 4, etc...) I'll be using programs such as Autodesk Maya, Blender and the Adobe product lineup (Mainly Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Audition) Even though I have access to pretty powerful school 3D computers, I want to get a new build in order to work home at 3 am with a cup of coffee beside me... So tl;dr, I plan to build a 3D centric productivity desktop (gaming too since I still game, hue). Here's a PCPartPicker to give an idea of my planned build: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/XqwxCy *Sidenote: Purchased items are the optional stuff I'm considering* My aimed budget is around $2k CAD for the computer parts (CPU, Cooler, Mobo, RAM, PSU, Storage, GPU and case), but I can be a little liberal. The spoiler below is an opinion/argument of my own for each component (then again, I'm a noob...so maybe I should just shut my mouth, but whatever). So here are (possibly) some questions that I'm expecting from the pros: So yeah, I guess that's it. Feel free to ask me anything and I'm open to any suggestions! Thank you for your time! P.S.: Here, have an Ene GIF. OwO ============================================== UPDATE - REVISION 1.0 (12:20 AM - 2017-04-06) Thank you all for the feedbacks! Here's an updated parts list from your opinions: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/YtxnFd In summary: In the end, we saved $15.07! (Woot Woo!) So yeah, that's the first revision. Again, feedbacks would be nice. Thanks! P.S.: Another Ene GIF , lul.

Ok this is my first build that's why I keep posting. 1. DO I need a fan controller? 2. Do I need a sound card? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/sJgG6X I actually wanted an all white/gold/purple build. Also please let me know of any other possible issues.

This is my first PC that I built and I was wondering if any of you guys could tell me what you would add or change to make this better as a gaming computer but also have in mind a low budget. Of course, I could have put a better graphics card and such in there but I made what I thought at the time was the best PC for the best price. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/xHaunterx/saved/dm6Ycf

Hello, I just completed my "first" build, I used to have another PC, but a friend was the one that pretty much build it, and choose the parts. I did not really game much on it. The only games I played on it were: Minecraft and Skyrim. I wanted to play the new games at a decent frame rate at 1080p(my monitor is 1080p). Also having some future proof for maybe going to 1440p. But that old PC just didn't keep up. So I decided to build a PC by myself. So I can truly call myself a PC gamer. So I researched videos of Computer parts for months, save money to buy the parts. So this is waht I came up with: CPU: Intel Core i5-7600K 3.8GHz Quad-Core Processor CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler MOBO: MSI Z270-A PRO ATX LGA1151 Motherboard RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory Storage: SSD OCZ TRION 150 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive HDD Hitachi Ultrastar 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Video Card PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply Case: NZXT S340 (Black/Blue) ATX Mid Tower Case PcPartPicker Link After recieving all my parts thru mail I decided to grab a Screw driver and put all the parts together and Whala! my new PC was ready to game on(Actually to Install Windows on it). I choose the i5-7600k because I want to overclock it and get a bit more power. My question is, will my CPU cooler be a problem? or the PSU? The only part that I did not like as much( I will definitely change in the future would) is the Hard Drive. I grabbed the cheapest 2TB HDD, and it is super noisy, it sounds like a really old machine from 1998 or something like that. Well I guess you get what you pay for. So, what do you think about my build? Do you like it? Would you change anything about it? PD: Sorry for my horrible grammar, English is not y first language, so I am sorry if your Eyes are hurting in pain due my bad writing skills

I'm in an interesting situation with what I would like my computer to be able to do. I'm an engineering student in college and my laptop is perfectly capable for all of those uses. However, I'm looking at building my own pc for use with CAD and large excel spreadsheets (I run my own engineering side business), video editing for my gopro action videos, and for gaming in 1080p/1440p at an average or above average standard. My budget on the high end for the pc itself is around $1,700, but lower is better if it suits my needs. Below are the items that I am looking at. I'm posting here to get suggestions and advice since this is my first build. CPU - AMD Ryzen 1600/1600x/1700 or Intel i5-7600k/i7-7700k. I'm not sure what one would be the best for 3D modeling and video editing. If I can get by using the cheapest of these, then that's fine. But if the upgrade to a higher end cpu would be a better move for my needs, then I'm open to that too. Motherboard - This would have to be compatible with whatever cpu I go with above. Should I be looking for usb-c and a digital audio output? I'd like the motherboard to have quality sound, so any extra features or upgrades for that are a plus. RAM - 16gb DDR4, not sure what RAM speed is sufficient GPU - NVIDIA GTX 1070 or 1060 6gb. I'm assuming the 1070 would be a better move since I'd like to game in 1440p, but let me know different if the 1060 works well enough. What brands are the best? Storage - 1tb Western Digital Caviar Blue 7200 rpm with a 250 gb SATA or NVME SSD. I'm not sure if the upgrade to an NVME for M.2 would be more beneficial given the demand of 3D modeling and video editing, or if I should just stick with SATA. CPU Cooler - If the ryzen is best for me, what cooler would you recommend if not the wraith cooler? If an Intel chip, what cooler would be best? I plan on overclocking, so would a closed water cooler be the way to go? PSU - As far as I'm aware, this doesn't matter as much as long as it has a good rating and meets my needs. I was thinking an EVGA 500B or 600B Case - Cooler Master MasterBox 5 OS - Windows 10 Monitor - This is where I'm really having trouble. What refresh rate should i be looking for, 144hz? Is G-Sync beneficail, or not worth the extra money? I'd prefer 1440p, but if there isn't anything that fits alongside the first 2 standards, then I'd be fine with a 1080p in which case I'd downgrade to a gtx 1060 since that handles most games at 1080p well enough. I really don't want to spend more than $600 on a monitor in addition to whatever my pc costs in the end. I already have a gaming keyboard and mouse, so I'm set there. Thank you for any input and help you are able to provide.

Hi I am starting my first build and picking parts as I go, this is what I have at this point and just wondering if there are any bottle necks (or over kills, maybe the motherboard?) that I should be looking out for or if there are any alternative parts I should be looking at for this build. Any and all advice is welcome, thanks in advance (I know I do not have a power supply yet haha)

I'm planning on overclocking my Ryzen 7 1700. I have a gtx 1060 6gb, 250gb SATA SDD, 1tb 7200 rpm Hard Drive, 16gb 3000mhz DDR4 ram, and a X370 ATX motherboard. PCParkPicker estimates my power cosumption at around 350w. Is this accurate for overclocking, or do I need a PSU with significantly higher power capabilities. Also, do you have some recommendations for quality PSU's.
-
I'm looking for input on how many fans/what type of fans I should use to cool a Cooler Master Masterbox 5. I'll be running a gtx 1060 6gb and overclocking a Ryzen 7 1700. I'm wondering what type of cooling setup would be best and what cooling I should use for my cpu. Closed loop liquid or heatsink

Hi all, Recently decided I want to build my own PC, I ideally want it to run games like Overwatch, nothing too far above that calibre really. Just wanted to run my build by a few people with far greater knowledge of the industry than me, any changes you guys would make I am more than happy to adopt, just trying to stick in a roughly $1000 budget. Also not 100% if everything is compatible, but here's what I've got so far; http://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/JnjTr7 . Thanks a bunch! Will

Hello, I want to try overclocking my EVGA GTX 1060 SC but its my first time doing this and i am not sure how to go about it. From watching youtube videos all see is set power usage and fan speed max then increase core clock. Is that all?

Hello, I am thinking of starting a PC build but my current budget is around 450$. My thoughts for this build were to make it a start for a better build, Like get a good MoBo and Case but no GPU and a cheap intel processor to allow myself some upgrade room for the CPU and I would eventually add in a GPU such as the RX 480 or 1060 and an i5 6600K. Is it a good idea to get the basics first and then move up from there or should I just keep saving until I can get all the good parts at once? What are some suggested builds for this price? Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can make.
