Hi all, I picked up an MSI RX 580 4GB from Ebay just for the sake of pouring through older games I have on Steam that could still benefit from the boost (eventually plan on getting a PS5). I notice for games that are well suited for this card, I still get the very high and loud fan speeds. Even a game from the 2010 (STALKER Clear Sky). Tweaking helped, particularly limiting the FPS to nothing less than needed with the built in GPU utility. Now I'm picking up XCOM 2 for the first time. I know for instance water effects are a biggy, I limited the frame rate again, still the loud fast fan. When the GPU is going off like this, it just stays at 3000+ RPM, GPU Temp 70-75 Celsius. Any thoughts? Thanks for any help you can give

5700xt Gigabyte 5700xt replacing shroud with 2x120mm case fans
hergarian posted a topic in Graphics Cards
Hello! First time poster here. I need some help concerning my 5700xt project. I'm planning to remove the original shroud/fan assembly off of my Gigabyte 5700xt and replace it with two Actic P12s. Reason for that simply being noise. I don't want to run them using a motherboard fanheader, so I'm planning to connect them to my GPU fanheader and let them be controlled via that. Thing is, I can't find any diagram or something of that sort onling showing me what pin is responsible for what and in which orientation. Also I'm unsure on how the fans will behave. The original assebly is rated for 12V 0.35AMP while one arctic fan is 12V 0.08AMP. Will that be a problem? Thanks in advance and sorry for my english -

I have been researching to build my first PC. I may decide to go with the be quiet! Pure Base 500 with the window side panel. If I do, I will need to purchase just one additional fan, as the case comes with 2 fans already. The two included fans are DC, not PWM. I have heard that they are good quality (Pure Wings 2), and that they are very quiet even at 900 RPM. I don't want to replace these fans, so I'll keep em and get one extra. So here are my questions: should I get a third DC fan to match the first two, or should I get a PWM fan? If I get a PWM, where would be the best place to install it (instead of one of the DC fans)? Hello all, After doing much (hours and hours) of research, I just can't seem to choose a cooler for my Ryzen 5 5600x. My choices have come down to the SE-225-XT, the Esports 34 Duo or the Pure Rock 2. Initially, I was looking at something like the NH-D15, but I realized I didn't need that much performance. I won't be doing any OC, but I want to be able to reach the max boost speeds on the CPU without going over around 80C on max load. With the stock cooler, my CPU goes up to 95C playing games, so I really need a solution ASAP. Part of the issue is poor ventilation in my room as well as 105F California weather, but ideally it wouldn't exceed 80 max at full boost and load while also being quieter than stock. I would prefer under $50 and availability from Amazon, but I am open to other options. Any help would be very appreciated! My PCPartPicker list for reference: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ytwDGq

It started happening long ago but it got worse now and its beginning to bother me, when I'm playing games fans automatically goes up to about 60-70% and those sounds appear, If I manually set fans to like 50% or 75% that sound is gone. I've checked gpu 10 times nothing is touching the fans, removed it cleaned it and placed again, still no luck. You may say set fans manually to 75% well I could do but it gets pretty loud and I dont want that. Any suggestions? Link for sound https://files.fm/u/gajcrs9gx

Hello from Australia everyone! This is a repost from Reddit because the people over there couldn't seem to solve my issue/s. The details of my issues are in the images, and the only one I have managed to solve since posting on Reddit is that the RGB hub that came with my AIO also came with an adapter for RGB connectors on motherboards that I previously didn't see. This being said, my mini-ITX motherboard (which is inside of an m-ATX case) only has one RGB connector (and one system fan connector, as well as a 4-pin CPU fan connector). The problem with this is that my main fan hub (the one in pictures 2 and 6) uses the RGB header instead of a fan header as its motherboard plugin. Would I just need to buy a splitter to solve this issue, or would I run into voltage issues running 5 fans, an AIO and the RGB for each from one header? Hope everyone's having a great holiday season! -Quinn

I've got new fans recently but noticed my motherboard the Asus z270e doesn't have an ADD Header but the fans uses the header. 3 pins it is and the motherboard used the rgb header. The fans I bought are the Be Quiet Light Wings 120mm PWM high-speed and they come with a ARGB hub but it doesn't connect to the pc for it uses SATA (I have spare connection) and then the RGB in connects straight back to the ARGB header. No use what so ever. Fans all connect to my fan controller but that fan controller of course doesn't have any part to allow it to connect to the Hub. The fans do turn on and are adjusting it's fan speed like I wanted it but the kicker is no lights... Im thinking maybe a PCIE or hub but I seem to can't find any answers that explain what it is I need for me to get it working. If someone can send me links (UK) to the part I need to get the lights working, much appreciated (Excuse the cable management as its a shite case for cable management and not much I can do)

i've been searching the internet trying to find the best place to buy the Arctic p12 fan but it isn't available on my country, the only websites i have found that can be delivered to me are shopee and aliexpress. I'm wondering, are these arctics original or not? i'm not sure whether they're fake or not, something that i strongly doubt. Recently my computer has had a really loud fan sound lately. It's also not very consistent. Sometimes it starts out really loud and other times it can get really quiet, like it was before. Some days it sounds quiet all day, and others it will get really loud and then quiet down. It also seems to ramp up and slow down independent of what I'm actually doing. I have looked at all the temperatures and nothing seems off. I have ruled out my case fans, so it's either the GPU, the CPU or the power supply fan. I believe it might be my gpu fan, because it seems like one of the fans might not be spinning right. It just doesn't sound like a broken fan or something, it's more like what happens when you start playing a game, it just sounds like it's ramping up to be very loud. I think it might be my GPU fan because when I was looking at it, the spinning of the right fan seemed off for some reason. I have attached a video of the GPU fan. Any help would really, really be appreciated PXL_20211219_193710078_4fa6_3.mp4 PXL_20211219_193710078_4fa6_3.mp4

Hey guys, so I'm planning to install cooling system on my PC room but can't decide between exhaust fan or regular fan, which one in your opinion is the best option. The room is pretty small as you can see (it's 2x2 I think).

So I bought this laptop almost a year ago and I've noticed that the fans keep spinning even when the system is idle and well it creates an annoying noise. Also doesn't it take away from the battery life ? Please someone help from what I could find on the HP forums, this is a genuine problem with Omen 15s powered by Ryzen CPUs i.e. their fans start spinning when the CPU or GPU hits what like almost 50 degrees which is ridiculous and that creates an irritating noise. There is no way to control this fan noise, please someone help me before I go crazy. I get that the fans would spin If I would be doing some intensive task like gaming or some blender renders or some other CPU or GPU intensive application but even when this thing is idle ! its fans keep spinning. I have disabled "the fans always on" option in BIOS but that doesn't work.

Criteria: 1- performance 2- looks 3- price give reasons for your opinions.

Hi, pls help I have this CPU fan noise problem thats driving me insane. It started about 2 months ago so i replaced the fan, the new fan then began doing this after a couple of weeks. I have just replaced the fan again and now this clicking noise began instantly. The noise can be heard even when the blades are NOT rotating, yet the sound is deffinatly coming from this one CPU fan. I cannot think what else to try or even what is causing this, any suggestions are appreciated.

Under msi after burner or Radeon Software, the fans seems to work great and they show their right speed and temperatures are good. So I don't know if it's a Trixx bug or my card has something wrong with it and I should return it. Troubleshooting: Seems like a Trixx bug but I am not 100% certain and don't know what I can really do about it, should I return it?

Please read through the post carefully A video is provided for better understanding of the problem Link to video: https://youtu.be/_arenJbamhY (at the 10th second, you can slightly hear a sudden sound like a vehicle moved past) ----For anyone who is reading this message. It's fine if you comment any time. Don't mind the date. I just would like to hear from other people who is also experienceing this issue---- My past driver was 21.9.1 but there was an issue with the frequent brightness changing of the videos I am watching so I tried to update it to 21.10.1 and saw the problem (changing of brightness) was not appearing that frequently and after a few days, I have been having issues about crashing with 21.10.1 so I tried 21.10.2 but same thing so I updated to 22.1.2 just to see if the driver would time out but there weren't any signs. So another problem came up after I updated to 22.1.2, I saw that whenever I restart my system the taskbar would go transparent and that wasn't happening with older drivers, so I used DDU and reinstalled 22.1.2, but just after I configured my fan settings and restarted the computer, I GOT JUMPSCARED because of the fan went suddenly loud after the BIOS splash screen and goes quiet before the windows loads up. This now happens whenever I restart or shutdown and start the system. So I rolled back to 21.10.2, but the problem did not went away.. I didn't know what to do that time. BUT I already faced this problem two years ago, I fixed it by Restoring windows to a "save point" (it's a feature) and the problem went away. But instead of doing that, I called my friend to help me out and reinstall a new OS on the SSD I'm using. So we reinstalled a new OS and installed a driver but after restarting the system, the problem did not go away. So out of frustration, I did my method back from two years ago but while on the process, the system did a bsod for only a second and it would restart again (my guess it's a corrupted OS and started to boot loop) so we reinstalled a new OS again but this time, it's on my HDD. So we installed there and installed a driver and restarted. Unfortunately the problem was still present even with the OS being inside the HDD instead of the SSD. So we just reinstalled a new OS to the SSD but this time, I installed the 21.9.2 driver (the driver with frequent changing of brightness). So I tested something after installing the driver. What if I try not to set a custom fan curve and restart my system. So after the bios splash screen, we were shocked that there wasn't any loud fan noise for a split second before windows. So after the restart, I tried setting my custom fan curve using the 21.9.2 driver, restarted the system and boom. The problem showed up but this time it's a bit more quiet. That's pretty annoying to whenever I start my system it would always do that knowing that it does not do that before the 22.1.2 driver. I feel like the 22.1.2 driver broke my system. I tried reinstalling the 22.1.2 (which showed this whole problem afterwards), tried older drivers before 22.1.2, clean install from SSD as my boot drive, clean install using the HDD as my boot drive, and it still shows the problem but there's a way to avoid that, by removing the custom fan curve. I still want to use the custom fan feature while not getting jumpscared every time after the msi splash screen shows up. I'm currently using 21.9.1 and I still get the sound but it's more quieter. I feel like this does not happen before I reinstalled 22.1.2. I don't want to update my drivers because I'm scared that the sound will get much worse. Please help me out guys.

Hey guys I need some help. I have the Asus Z690-P D4 motherboard. On this motherboard there is the following headers: AIO PUMP, CPU FAN, CPU OPT. I am connecting an AIO and 4 additional fans. I believe I connect the AIO pump to AIO pump header, and the fans go to a hub then the CPU FAN. Am I correct? Please correct me if I’m wrong. And what do I do to the CPU OPT, what is that?

Greetings Everyone! My RX 460 fans are having problems lately. For some reason, the fan on my GPU goes up to the max speed 3200+ RPM then goes back down to it's normal speed. This happens randomly for no reason whether the PC is just sitting on idle or browsing the internet. The GPU isn't even hot at all and it is only at around 30 degrees. Whenever the fan ramps up, it lasts from less than a second to up to a minute or two. On GPU-Z whenever the fan ramps up, the reading gets weird because the fan percentage is on 27% but the RPM is at 3200+. But when the speed goes back down and when the fan goes back to normal, the reading becomes correct like 27% with 1300+rpm. Same reading can be found in MSI Afterburner. It also won't follow the custom fan curve whenever it ramps up to the max speed This also happens in BIOS and safe mode. Here are the things I did: -Set a custom fan curve -Uninstalled MSI Afterburner -Reseating the Graphics card -Using DDU to reinstall the drivers several times -Updating the drivers to the latest version -Cleaned the GPU and the PCIE slot (I didn't change the thermal paste though) -Reconnected/reseated the GPU fan -Reset the BIOS -Updated the motherboard BIOS firmware to the latest version -Replaced my PSU But none of these fixed the issue. My Specs: Motherboard: Asus H81m-D CPU: Intel Pentium G3250 (I know this sucks but I'm about to upgrade it soon) GPU: Sapphire RX 460 2gb Single Fan RAM: 8gb DDR3 1333mhz PSU: Silverstone strider essential series 500w Wishing that someone knows a solution that might help. Thanks in advance!

Hi folks, new PC owner here. Built my PC back in the beginning of June 2021. My GPU is a GeForce RTX 2060 VENTUS GP OC. Something that I have noticed is my GPU fans are literally always on. During research I found that most times the fans are apparently supposed to be off unless it reaches a certain temp. I live in a tropical climate and so my idle temps are 40c yet the fans are always spinning. Granted it is quiet but just still wondering if this is the norm. My CPU is an Ryzen 5 3600 so no integrated graphics. All graphical output is from my GPU. Would this be the reason or something else? Any other information can be requested and I will try my best to provide it. Looking forward to some help

I'm having an issue with my EVGA 3070 FTW3. The fans in general seem weird/off to me as the stock fan curve has them on idle constantly switching on and off even with low temps (30-40c). They also appeared to be out of sync. Again, I'm not sure if this is normal or not as this is my first EVGA GPU. Now the real issue, The third (and im not entirely sure if either of the other fans do this but the third is the worst offender) make a clicking hard drive noise when kicking on initially. It is not a consistent noise unless the fans are going from 0 RPM to X RPM and back which can happen without a custom curve. My real question is by EVGA standard is this expected or a defect? I have adjusted this with my own custom curve to stop the clicking but hate using software and would rather rely on the automated fans to do the job. I just bought this and I'd like to know so I can return it if it is indeed defective but judging from others it seems like this is normal behavior for a fan to click like that? Just wanted input from someone on here, thanks! Edit:. I've posted this to EVGA forums as well as I see many others dealing with this and just overall confused with the response from a moderator on there who said "its normal" but then didnt seem to understand I was talking about the clicking noise. He thing immediately responded "if you think its a bad fan I would RMA it" which makes me feel even more confused as he didn't actually give his own input on it.

I have my system for 4 years now and I want to add new fans to my case. I have a Corsair Spec-02 case and it comes with 1 120mm fan on the front. System: CPU: Ryzen 5 1400 GPU: GTX 1050TI OC Motherboard: ASUS Prime b350m-a PSU: High Power 500W 80+ Bronze SSD: WD Blue SN550 500G HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM RAM: XPG Gammix D30 2x8GB 3000Mhz I was thinking about getting 2 of be quiet! bl039 pure wings 2 120mm fans. 1 for back exhaust and 1 for front intake. I also need a 4 pin splitter I think. Would it be better if I buy a fan hub instead? I learned from other posts that I shouldn't exceed 1A on CHA_FAN header. Do be quiet!'s fans and my case fan go over the 1A limit? Are 2 fans overkill for this system? Should I get something cheaper like Arctic fans instead. Thanks in advance!

bought a evga bq 650w from microcenter the other day, and once I plug it in for the first 10 minutes of being idle, the fan is normal. any thing after that is when it gets very loud.

Hello, Im having issues with my Cha Fans, so im currently running 3 Wind Blade 120RD (3pin) fans in my case (1 in the back, 2 upfront) The one in the back works fine as it's 3pin cable connected to a 4 pin mobo connector directly. However, regarding the fans upfront, their cable is too short to connect to the corresponding cha fan connectors on the mobo, therefore I bougth the pin splitter as a work around (since connecting the fans to PSU molex made them run at 100%) https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000639953069.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.cd934c4dTHxqcr to be able to control the fan speed by connected them to the Cha_fan 2 or 3 connecter. But once I connected all the cables im unable to control the RPM of front fans. Mobo: Asus TUF Gaming B550-PLUS My Bios recognizes the fans connected to the Cha_fan 3 port and somewhat allows me to select the available modes. However once I reboot into desktop my frontal fans start running at full speed ( side note: they work silently while booting windows/in bios and kicks in at full speed when im in desktop) I have downloaded the sofware that came with my MOBO (AI suite 3) and it did allow me to set up (back end and CPU fans) and it does show the RPM of the frontal fans connected to Cha_fan3, but does not allow me to make any changes. Currently via BIOS all fans (except CPU fan) are set in DC mode. It feels like for somewhat reason my front fans switch to PWM once in desktop and makes loud noise ( I have noticed, that when in BIOS Cha_fan 3 in mode DC runs silently and once I switch to PWM it gets much louder, basically the same as while in desktop) HELP would be very much appreciated. P.S. I've tried installing "SpeedFan" but for some reason it did not find any of the fans in my PC
